Since most or my favorites have already been nominated in this thread, I'll do some promotion for a lesser known artist

Giacomo Voli is an italian singer that recently joined Rhapsody of Fire as the Lead Vocalist after Fabio Lione's departure. He first got attention at national level thanks to his partecipation at The Voice of Italy. Here's some example of his vocal talent taken before his work with RoF

You're getting one male and one female and that's all there is to it.

Kaoru Ishibashi, or Kishi Bashi.

I saw him in Nashville earlier this year and it was a treat. His range is incredible, and he performs while playing the violin. His vocal style varies depending on the track, so it's tough to choose just one.

Raphaelle Standell-Preston of Braids.

Her voice morphs from bell-like to something straight out of a Bjork album. Listen with headphones, her enunciation is dreamy.

I've been watching a fair bit of Postmodern Jukebox's stuff lately, and it features a lot of talented vocalists, but there's something about Haley Reinhart's husky, breathy voice that's just sooo sexy.

She's the first female singer in this video

He is a stalwart of the New York Hardcore scene who has been in many bands over the years.

The band where he truly expressed his vocal capabilities is called Into Another.

Here is one of their more famous songs entitled "Running Into Walls"

My man truly has amazing range and can go from heavy to beautiful amazingly.

I've been obsessed with Björk's vocals in Submarine lately, the part starting around 1:40. It's only a few lines, but they're so masterfully delivered. Note that the sing is called Submarine and that her voice deepens as each line progresses. The nuance and control make it both beautiful and technically impressive. Fuck I love Björk.

On mobile so i don't have anything to back my claim but Joni Mitchell sure has something going her way. A lot of different mood beautifuly conveyed.

Hideto Takarai. Probably the best vocalist I have ever heard in my life in terms of how much I enjoy his voice and the vocal skill he possesses.

Daryl Palumbo. There's a reason GJ is one of the most respected punk bands of all-time and Daryl is a huge part of it. He basically invented (or at least popularized). the whole idea of switching between screaming and singing that became a staple of the genre. Why? Because he could sing and scream better than basically everyone else could do either of those things. Immense stage presence, great range, unique style. It's fuckin' Glassjaw.

His vocals on that first Head Automatica album were pretty good too.

This is a great thread to subscribe to.

Edit:ANOHNI

This was one of the first vocalists that came to mind for me although I'd recommend this live cover of Leonard Cohen's If it Be Your Will.

As for my own contribution, I haven't gone through every post but I'm surprised I didn't stumble across any mention of Cynthia Erivo, who is like a once-in-a-generation talent if you ask me.

edit- as a bonus, here is Cynthia Erivo and some of the other Color Purple cast performing a tribute to Prince. Make note of how Jennifer Hudson can't keep up.

Love me some Head Automatica. Are there any other bands that scratch that itch?
Hmmm, I can't really think of anything at the moment, someone that sounds like them or has that style. They're a little bit more electronic but maybe Ghostland Observatory? I've got nothing really.
