M2 to release nearly every Toaplan game for console starting 2020 in Japan

Mahjong Sisters and Enma Daiou not included.

M2 will release nearly every game developed by now-defunct Japanese studio Toaplan for console starting in 2020 in Japan, the company announced at its “ESP Ra.De. Christmas Party: M2 ShotTriggers Do-Kanshasai II” event in Akihabara today.

Mahjong Sisters and Enma Daio are among the titles that M2 will not release, M2 boss Naoki Horii said, as those would be difficult to put out on console.

Toaplan operated from 1984 to 1994 and created a wide array of arcade shoot ’em up titles during its run. It also worked on other genres with titles like Wardner and Get Star, which M2 also plans to release.

Here is Toaplan’s full catalog of games, via Wikipedia:

I've played every major taoplan 16-Bit releases back in the days on Engine and Genesis.

Batsugun however would be cool.
Is it still considered to be the first Bullhell-Shooter?

I paid good money for this Dynex!
That's cool, because Toaplan is one of the best developers from that era. I take it that these aren't going to be the over-the-top ports we've gotten with ShotTriggers or Sega Ages, though? Too many games for them to do more than a quick and dirty port.

Very cool, I wonder if they are going to be in collections like the Psikyo collections or if they are going to be individual releases

Truxton.

On Genesis.

Had it.

Hard as fuck.

Never beat it.

Sold it for probably $10-20 to a dude at a flea market or a mom and pop video store.

Fast forward 20 years when people put up rare game prices, and Truxton turns out being worth something decent. Could have actually made money off it

Who knew!!!

An all-in-one compilation pack or even some Volumes (similar to what PSiKYO did on Switch) would be wonderful. Lots of these games are impossible to play without an original copy or emulation. They're not often included in SEGA compilation packs.
