Afaik the next console Tales is considered as Tales of ten because it is the tenth internally developed main Tales of game, while ToI was developed by Alpha System and still considered to be a main-entry.

That comment was related to the Tales Studio-developed games, rather than mainline entries. Innocence IS a 'mothership' entry.

That´s what I think they meant^^

So, NamBan is expecting 400,000 sales for Tales of Hearts...Considering the first shipment was ~250,000 (200,000 anime, 50,000 CG) and has sold ~141,000 in total first week it's going to have to hang on like crazy to reach 400,000!

400k is really a stretch but the "New Year" week is around the corner. If ToH(An+CG) manages somehow to sell 50k+ this week they have a shot at reaching LTD sales between 250k-300k, which wouldn´t be a big dissapointment.

@Stumpokapow
Suikoden Tierkreis looks really decent next to the Gaiden, Tactics and GBA LTD numbers you posted.

I am not a fan and never bought a game in the series but... isn't this TOO low for a Sonic title? Isn't he a famous mascot??
TBH I thought it would sell <3,000 units, given how Sonic games really don't do well in Japan...

Would be interesting to see how Suikoden V did as well.

EDIT: PS2 LTD for Suikoden V is 194,780...

As expected Let's Tap bombed hard. I am not at all surprised. But I was still praying I'd be wrong. Hoping I'd walk into the thread and see it in the top 10 and be happy all day. It's such a fun game and has such great music. I bet it will be a cult hit someday..

But when I saw zero ad effort in my town (though apparently there was some on Tokyo) and found that even my geekiest friends hadn't heard about it, I knew it was doomed. (though I did convince 2 of them to pick it up).

It will have a price collapse soon I'm sure. Even with lowered expectations, to call this anything but a bomb is just spin.

Nintendo should be fucking happy with the performance of Jungle Beat for Wii. They probably only needed to sell 5,000 copies to make a profit on it, and they dectupled it. It will be interesting to see how the Pikmin one does, the franchise is did better on the Gamecube then Jungle Beat.

I don't think it was that cheap. Didn't they add new levels?

Isn't Let's Tap basically a one-button rhythm game? I swear to god, put flashing lights and techno in anything and you people like it.
I am not 100% sure how Let's Tap works, but i am under the impression that Let's Tap was a game where you put the Wii controller on the piece(s) of cardboard that is included with the game, and then you tap on the cardboard, and the Wii controller will pick up the vibration in the cardboard. Maybe you can just push one button on the Wii controller as well to play the game, unfortunately i dont know :\ Maybe someone else here can answer the question better than what i can :)

And they also said Tempest was a main entry, then oh no escort title, then Innocence is a main entry, then oh wait but its not a numbered Tales. My comment is not about what the game content is but how Namco keeps trying to dodge Tales titles that don't match sales of those previously released in a futile attempt to make the series look as big as it was before they turned it to the ground. Which is what they are trying to do since they began with the main entries, outsourced entries, escort titles, numbered titles and such comments.

(This doesn't mean you're wrong, just that I don't mean it that way, and neither does Namco).

hrm, well, the tapping is a sorta novelty but in principle it's an extremely basic game as far as I can see, which makes me wonder why people are disappointed

It's not basic, and it's not just a rhythm action game, but even if it were - basic quite often = fun. Rhythm Tengoku Gold's simplicity has thrust it into the million seller list and into the hearts of hundreds of thousands of gamers.

I'll be picking up Let's Tap next week.

Some comparisons...

02. [PS3] Gundam Musou 2 (Bandai Namco) - 162,000 / NEW
07. [PS2] Gundam Musou 2 (Bandai Namco) - 92,000 / NEW
29. [360] Gundam Musou 2 (Bandai Namco) - 27,000 / NEW
PS3 GM1 (April 2007) - 171k (313k)
360 GM1 (December 2007) - 9k (18k)
PS2 GM1 (February 2008) - 148k (276k)
Somehow predictable decline for releasing them together, although bit surprising performance for the PS2 one, since a year-old port did better. Could it be the first major PS3/PS2 day-and-date release that sells better on PS3?

06. [PS2] Fate/Unlimited Codes (Capcom) - 95,000 / NEW
Must be one of the best selling Capcom latest arcade ports eh? Another Fate game (which I suppose was a PC ADV port) did 144k first week (PS2, 2007 April), although that's credited to Kadokawa Shoten.

14. [NDS] Momotarou Dentetsu: 20th Anniversary (Hudson) - 64,000 / NEW
MD DS Tokyo & Japan released April last year (for Golden Week) did 72k first week for a 355k LTD. Numbers more or less at par with the latest PS2 editions that also released in December (not the highest ones though, but very near 2005 and 2006 numbers). Should have pretty good legs and its off to a good start.

18. [NDS] Power Pro-Kun Pocket 11 (Konami) - 54,000 / NEW
Power Pro-Kun Pocket 10 released more or less two weeks earlier last year and did 47k first week with latest LTD being 274k. Traditionally leggy title off to the best start so far for the series on DS.

28. [NDS] Bokujou Monogatari: Youkoso Kaze no Bazaar e (Marvelous) - 28,000 / NEW
I don't really follow Harvest Moon games so I don't know what would be the best comparison for this one. I think its the #2 best first week, but the #1 did 71k and 304k LTD, then again I don't know if this is a port, remake, a reimagined edition, a girl edition or what :p

__. [WII] Bleach: Versus Crusade (Sega) - 15,000 / NEW
Exactly like the first Bleach Wii game which was released in 2006 (little after Wii launch iirc). Not sure if comparable developers, I heard this one was Treasure iirc, it wouldn't compare well with Treasure DS ones.

SA2 Battle sold 192k.
I can't find Sonic Heroes sales anywhere, but if I remember correctly it sold more than 100k if you join the PS2 and GCN sales.
31k for the first week of Sonic Heroes on PS2. GC & XBX not in the top 30.

But it's interesting to see Sonic remains not popular in Japan after Mario & Sonic at Olympic Games.

From what I've seen, you tap really fast with all your fingers, like you're a really fast typist on a keyboard, it's not like pushing a button.

There are no numbered Tales, Tales of Ten is just a development code name.

How does that stack up compared with the PSX/PS2 records? How many 1m+, 2m+ etc did they have?
Using Japan-GameCharts' lists:

PS1, 18 million sellers total.
1.00-1.99 million: 12
2.00-2.99 million: 3
3.00-3.99 million: 3

PS2, 17 million sellers total.
1.00-1.99 million: 14
2.00-2.99 million: 2
3.00-3.99 million: 1

400

You can almost see it sliding down a hill, other than the two Mario & Sonic games near the end.

That Pikmin seems particularly suited to pointer/waggle play and has a Wii sequel in the works also makes how the Play on Wii version performs more interesting/important, I think.

Confirmed? Miyamoto said they were making Pikmin for the Wii, but did he specifically say they were making a new one?

Harvest Moon: Wind Bazaar isn't a port/remake or girls edition-its a new harvest moon with new characters. So yeah numbers are way down, but what can MMV expect with their milking the franchise on the ds.

Wii Sports > Mario Kart DS, should pass FF VII next week.

Pokémon Platinum up 4 ranks from #53 to #49.

Mario Kart Wii is currently on #56, should enter the Top50 soon.

Rank / System / Title / First week / LTD / Publisher / LTD as of
http://i43.tinypic.com/i6gpiu.png

Looking closely at this list it looks like the wii also has #25.

Yup, it's basically 'Harvest Moon DS 3' and considering its predecessor was such a smash hit, it must smart a little to see this start so (comparatively) low.

This issue's been clarified because people were asking just that very question. Miyamoto has since confirmed the 'new' Pikmin he's working on is NOT either of the Play on Wii versions.
