It is, come to think of it, this is ALL Capcom has left of staying alive, especially in Japan. RE7 failed, DR4 failed, SF5 failed, DMC failed, now MHW is left...

They need to try a new IP like KT did with Nioh and succeeded.

I know Deep Down they could do it.

Amazon had some unexpected Neon Switch stock available to buy tonight. Sold out in under 12 minutes.

MyNintendoStore also opened up Switch orders yesterday without warning which is something Nintendo doesn't usual do. Sold out in less than 10mins.

The drought continues.

There's also a new lottery online at Joshin website. Application time finish tomorrow at 16:59.

It's strange to have this reports during the week (they always are on the weekends). Maybe stock situation might be improving?

Those games only failed because they had numbers in their title.
MHW dropped the number so definitely won't.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Japanese players still don't like paying for PS+.

That and the lack of local multiplayer aren't doing this any favours.

Right. There is still going to be a limit on sales for this in Japan, no matter how hyped some of the fanbase gets.

No portable and online only were confirmed since the beggining, what I am talking about are those made up concerns like casualized/westernized gameplay, lack of weapons, that imaginay fee that nobody from Capcom ever hinted, etc.

Comments about Capcom only having what they showed on the demo after 4 years of dev time have already appeared, so it's a matter of time anyway.

I think it's not completely ridiculous to expect a rather limited number of monsters/content at launch, with regular updates down the line, akin to SFV (but hopefully better)

The 4chan rumour is probably one of the biggest why all those concern is there.

Not to forget, a new big leap for MH usually had more limited monster number like Tri on Wii.

It's time to play Resident Honest, House Fighter, Human may cry and Stoneman
Switch II exclusive launch title. Featuring brand new characters Pacifist Ken and Angelic Ryu.
and don't forget, Lazy Akuma, Happy Bison, Brainwashed Chun Li and Sexy Makoto will come to the roster as paid dlcs

With MHW being the way it is, is it redundant for Capcom to have a new Dragon's Dogma? This might be a stupid question but I haven't played DD, and on a surface level it can look similar enough.

Mistwalker's (Sakaguchi) new game with Silicon Studio (Bravely Default, Octopath) is Terra Battle 2 for iOS/Android/PC, in case people were wondering what that turned out to be.

Are there any estimates on what the revenues are like for the top 10 games each month?

The market has grown so much since we got estimates that it's hard to say. We know Sega has a few games that sit around the 20s or 30s for a given month are making $4+ million a month, so I would be surprised if you could get to #10 with less than $10-$15 million a month. The top of the heap is more like $60 million a month, but we don't have great data for around #10 at this point specifically.

All im saying is that when developers and publishers agree on terms for a project, there really isnt much to be upset about. If the publisher can provide the devteam with the assistance needed to port a game to another system mid production, the developer agrees, then thats that and the project continues under those new terms.

No sane publisher would just force a dev team to add a another Plattform to the mix without adjusting the overall terms of the agreement. Especially since porting a PS4/XBO game to Switch isnt necessarily a easy job depending on the type of game.

What you are saying isnt wrong... my main point was just that "upseting" the developers probably isnt the reason why not every game hits Switch asap. Its just a numbers game at the end and people double dipping has always been a big part of the jpn market.
Sure, but:

1.) Not every developer has more staff to actually work on a Switch version and convert all the art assets, even if their technology works on the platform.
2.) A lot of developers don't use technology that would easily go over. If they're making a game on Unreal or Unity, sure, but a proprietary engine isn't going to get over there immediately.

What was the April chart?

Nioh sold less globally than MH4U did just in the west. Dragon's Dogma was a new Capcom IP that already sold more than Nioh did too and they didn't bother following that up.

What they need is a new Souls level seller, not Nioh.

It's redundant when they have DDO and when MHW is aiming for the west.

Really looking forward to this week data (before anyone ask: take a look at OP's date, add 7 days, and you have the date and time next numbers go up). Finally about to exit that horrible, slow ass period. Sadly, doesn't looking like we're out of the Switch shortages hell any time soon.

Logic says shipments will have a higher base from now on. If they don't drop below 30k after Arms we could see small increases week after week until the big one of Splatoon 2.

I did that post just to make a pun. I didn't have time to think about what Capcom needs to actually do to bring themselves out of repeated failures even after using profits from Monster Hunter 4 to invest in mobile which doesn't look like it has bore fruit for them.

That is crazy. How can anyone with school or a job buy one?
