That one wasn't that great though, I remember 2010 being a nonstop show stopper with game announcements, donkey kong, Kirby epic yarn, skyward sword, golden eye, then they ended it with the 3ds reveal and all those game announcements. Epic.
I feel the same. I'm so over E3 press conferences. They come off as fake now since they want to "win" E3 in the eyes if the press and blogs.
I agree! Every top gaming executive should hold themselves to the up most professionalism and not stoop to silly memes.
Reggie could learn something from Shu Yoshida's professional ethic.
That's BS as in it shouldn't be that way. E3 press conferences to me has become nothing more than a bunch of guys in suits titled Vice President try and 1-up each other. To an extent, I agree. However, unfortunately, it's about image and Nintendo not hosting a conference gives the media the wrong image which spreads and spreads.
They don't have to be fake. Unfortunately some companies have turned them into ridiculous stage shows, canned demos, advertisements to the broader audience, or places to show off celebrities in a move to make everything style over substance. That sort of thing makes E3 conferences useless.
But an E3 conference is a great way to attract media attention to your products too. And if you happen to actually be showing off exciting things your product can do, then it's great for everybody. Nintendo shouldn't be looking down their nose at press attention.
Personally I'd rather watch a video of Reggie having lunch with Barack Obama.

The "press conference" is at 9AM, not 9PM. Their traditional time.We finally know what Nintendo has planned for E3!
YouTube!
Super Smash Bros. Invitational Tournament : During E3, at Nokia Theatre, thousands of fans can go and participate in the very first tournament for the new Super Smash Bros. !
Super Smash Bros Fest : New Smash Bros. playable at Best Buy during E3
Treehouse Live at E3 : Constant daily streams with game creators throughout E3.
Nintendo Digital Event : New games and announcements, June 10 at 9pm (no idea if live or not).
They are streaming on youtube and twitch now. Can you use embed code with livestreams? If yes there shouldn't be an issue with the stream being shown on all gaming sites.God damn, they better not only use Ustream again this year. It was the worst quality stream I've seen in years.
Also, by only doing an online stream they're definitely going to miss out on a ton of more "mainstream" buzz and viewers. Only Nintendo fans will probably tune in like last year, since it won't be playing elsewhere on the internet or TV. My PS/Xbox owning friends (who don't really follow Nintendo apart from watching them during E3) literally thought Nintendo didn't show up till I told them otherwise.

This is the goofiest bullshit ever. None of the "mainstream media" gives a crap about E3 except to note that "all the geeks and dweebs are now converging" and maybe there's a minor useless footnote when brand new hardware gets unveiled. Nobody is gonna report on a goddamned thing, they're showing new games to the gamers and journos who care with the video stream and none of the pointless bullshit they have to deal with to put on a conference.
This "media persecution" that everyone perceives exists against Nintendo ain't gonna change by them holding some goofy fuckin' live event at the Nokia--they're doing one better by using it instead for a MOTHER FUCKING SMASH BROS. TOURNAMENT which is about the most baller-ass shit ever invented.
Thanks!

I prefer the digital events I think. No awkward pauses, no random people yelling things in the audience, a much more concise presentation. Don't have to hear "AND NOW, NINTENDO DEVELOPER, SHIGERU MIYAMOTO *dubstep music plays*"
Can't wait to see more of Zelda U at this event.
Quite possibly the best thing Nintendo as ever done, lol.
Anyways... I'm kind of sad it's looking like no real press conference again. Their stream last year was complete shit because of nonstop buffering. I hope they use Youtube this time.
They are already in the nokia theatre. Watch a stream of them showing their digital event there, which they will do, and there you have your press conference. ^^
What!!! This is what I need. This is the reason I hold onto my 3ds & Wii U
Yes at my husband AKA Erik Peterson being in the video, I was hoping he would make an appearance.

But are they really? Last year while we were watching the Direct, journos were at Nintendo's booth playing games.
Know what worked better, especially for Nintendo? Spaceworld. An event that was all to their own... no fighting for attention, focus entirely on your own brand. This is what ALL THREE should be doing versus E3.
This isn't looking down their noses at press attention though. If you think so then that is an admission that the spectacle that E3 has become is held to a greater standard than the actual content a press conference brings.
Let's hear an announcement that Wii U and 3DS are going region-free!
Then why were people continually going on about Nintendo not being at E3. Many thought they didn't even put stuff on the show floor last year, because media was reporting lots of "Nintendo skips E3" crap out there.
The thing is events like space world and E3 cost a lot of money. So why spend the money running a mini E3 when you can attend one someone already paid for more or less?Know what worked better, especially for Nintendo? Spaceworld. Holy shit Reggie has taken over the Nintendo America twitter and has apparently gone mad with power
