Jurassic World Evolution strikes a chord with me, and that’s evident in the amount of time I’ve sunk into it. The presentation is gorgeous, the mechanics are engrossing, and balancing your veggiesauraces and meatysauraces has never been fun. There’s a handful of bugs to shake loose, but based on Frontier’s track record I’m fairly certain that these can be shaken out post launch.

GamesRadar: 4/5
+: Fantastic management sim. The dinos are adorably terrifying. Story is just enough not to intrude on park management
-: Needs more tutorials. Power system is infuriating

ScreenRant: 4/5
There's no mincing words. The star(s) of Jurassic World Evolution, much like the movies, are the dinosaurs. [...] The novelty of bringing dinosaurs doesn't get old even hours into the game, mostly because new species are always on the horizon. This cycle of dinosaurs is what makes the game's sandbox mode, the best mode by far. [...] It is a bit disappointing that there's only one map for the sandbox but it the game's biggest map and there's added fan service in being the island that started the franchise.

God is a Geek: 8/10
+: An excellent use of the licence. Isla Nublar sandbox is a highlight. Jeff Goldblum
-: Difficulty ramps up a bit too quickly. Progression is slow

PCGamesN: 8/10
If anything I took on the role of a benevolent eccentric, building a park and bringing long-dead creatures back to life for my own pleasure and fascination, not to gouge the wallets of the people drawn to the creatures I was so captured by. Basically, what I’m getting at is that Jurassic World Evolution made me into John Hammond.

PCGamer: 71/100
In its current form there's certainly enough for you to lose entire evenings to, and the dinosaurs themselves are absolutely beautiful. I actively want to look after them. But I'm just not finding the layer which keeps you coming back after that primary experience loses its sheen.

IGN UK: 48/100
Besides the fact that there’s absolutely no evolution involved in it, Jurassic World: Evolution is a bad game because it’s just a bore of a park sim. Sure, the dinosaurs look nice enough, but the process of unlocking new species is beyond tedious and actually running the business is shallow and quickly gets stale. It beats getting mauled by raptors, but after careful consideration, I’ve decided not to endorse this park.

PS4 Review Scores:

TheSixthaxis: 8/10
+: You get to manage Jurassic Park. The dinosaurs look phenomenal. Involving gameplay. It has Jeff Goldblum in it.
-: You get to manage Jurassic Park. No fast forward option. Missions don’t always match up with the fiction

PushSquare: 80/100
Jurassic World Evolution sits happily in the difficulty sweet spot: it's easy enough to pick up and play that park builder novices will likely have a good time, but it's involved enough that genre veterans should enjoy it as an amusing diversion between more hardcore titles. While there's a couple of tedious processes involved, building a park is generally entertaining, and dinosaur fans – who isn't a dinosaur fan? – will likely be enamoured with the array of creatures available, and the mischief they can get up to.

I Will keep the thread update as the review go live

Sounding good, probably still wait for a sale since I'm skint, but that sandbox mode is calling me.

That IGN review is a huge outlier too.

Oh fuck yes, i was expecting it to much more middling.

Secret Army of trexes here i come.

Edit: yup, of course ign had to be that guy. Coming off as impatient, this is a zoo tycoon type game, not fortnite or cod.

New free update just launched alongside the first paid DLC pack.

Free update adds 4 much requested features (among a ton of other changes):

- Full Day/Night cycle for all islands
- Herding mechanics for social dinosaurs
- Alpha dinosaurs (group leaders) will now form in social groups. Group leaders influence herd behaviour
>Sleeping behaviour for all dinosaurs

The new DLC adds a few new areas, 5 new dinosaurs (2 real, 3 hybrids), new missions and new research options.

Patch is 2.5GB

Great time to get back into JWE

how many dlcs packs are supposed to be coming? is there a timeline?

this looks like a great alt game to break up what i usually play, but i think i'd like to wait for all patches and DLC to release for the ultimate experience.
