This is still amazing to me. I picked this book up about 8 years ago and at the time I was working at a gas station 11pm - 7am, during the slow customerless nights I would read this book. I could not put this book down.. The end of every chapter kept you coming back.

The storyline was amazing. Having 3 different timelines kept you in suspense of what is coming in one timeline while you are reading the different timelines. While this book has a The Da Vinci Code feel to it.. I think Elizabeth Kostova does a better job at it. If you have never read this book, I can recommend it to anyone who likes a little supernatural to their books. This is not a horror book but a thriller.

Just a small synopsis for people that haven't read this (using spoilers just in case but no actual spoilers in it):

The Historian interweaves the history and folklore of Vlad Ţepeş, a 15th-century prince of Wallachia known as "Vlad the Impaler", and his fictional equivalent Count Dracula together with the story of Paul, a professor; his 16-year-old daughter; and their quest for Vlad's tomb. The novel ties together three separate narratives using letters and oral accounts: that of Paul's mentor in the 1930s, that of Paul in the 1950s, and that of the narrator herself in the 1970s. The tale is told primarily from the perspective of Paul's daughter, who is never named.
