Ending one the most turbulent tenures of a Washington-based ambassador in recent memory, the Kremlin has decided to recall its ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak, three individuals familiar with the decision tell BuzzFeed News.

The decision to bring Kislyak back to Russia rather than appoint him to a senior position at the United Nations in New York, as several outlets previously reported, comes amid investigations by the FBI and Congress into the 66-year-old diplomat’s contacts with President Donald Trump’s top aides during the 2016 presidential campaign.
“He could use some time away,” said a US-based diplomat.

Though Kislyak’s departure has long been expected, Moscow would not confirm his departure date. The US-Russia Business Council, however, is hosting a going away party for the ambassador on July 11 at the St. Regis Hotel.
Hopefully he has good life insurance as I doubt he has much time left.

The reports from reporters online is Kislyak is being replaced by Anatoly Antonov who is heavily sanctioned due to war in Ukraine and is currently under investigation relating to the MH17 Flight that was shot down. Nice easy way to get the man Diplomatic Immunity.

Pretty sure the US russia business council is headed by Sergei Millan or something who is thought to be the source of the Tape rumor. Interesting what a tangled web there is.

JK that was the US Russia chamber of commerce. Polonium me away.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
That's a big piece of the puzzle then.
It's no wonder everybody forgets meeting with him.

Polonium? He'll probably be greeted with a hero's welcome.

Putin couldn't have done it without him

Trump couldn't have become President without Comey. Look how much gratitude that earned him.

Not sure why you guys are talking about him being killed. Seems like he's done a good job of corrupting as many high level Americans as he could? Not really his fault that they're all horrible at covering their tracks.

He isn't in danger of being killed because of his performance, but because of what he knows.

He can't spill the beans if he's dead. Putin uses diplomats for nefarious purposes and then has them killed when he wants to cover his tracks and the deed is done. All the time.

The Guardian: Russia denies controversial ambassador Sergey Kislyak is leaving US
The Russian foreign ministry has denied reports that its ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak, is being recalled, even as plans for his departure are under way in Washington.

The US-Russia Business Council in Washington confirmed on Monday it was hosting a farewell dinner on July 11 for Kislyak, who has become a controversial figure for his contacts with senior members of the Trump campaign during the 2016 US presidential election.

However, the Russian foreign ministry’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, posted a statement on Facebook saying it was up to Vladimir Putin to decide whether to recall Kislyak to Moscow and appoint a successor, and that the process would take many months from the time a decision was made.

“And if a decision is made to name a new ambassador to the United States … then Sergey Ivanovich Kislyak, who has worked in the United States for nine years, will go down in the history of bilateral relations as a person who did everything to develop them even in the most complicated circumstances,” Zakharova said.

Diplomats in Washington had been expecting Kislyak’s departure for some time. He had been tipped to take the top counter-terrorist job at the UN, but that was given to another Russian official, Vladimir Voronkov.
A former US ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul, said in a tweet on Sunday: “As Ambassador Kislyak gets ready to leave … I wish him well. While in the USG [United States Government], I enjoyed working with him, even when we disagreed.”

In her Facebook statement, Zakharova took a swipe at McFaul, who she implied had the source of the reports of Kislyak’s recall. McFaul resigned as ambassador to Moscow in 2014 after only two years in the post, during which he was pilloried by pro-Kremlin media for meeting with opposition leaders. He has since been banned from entering Russia.

Zakharova claimed McFaul “fled Moscow in shame, having messed up not only all possible diplomatic tasks and protocol appearances and code words, but also the strange mission that the Obama administration gave him.”
For a laugh, back in May, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Zakharova also denied that Donald passed classified intel to Lavrov and Kislyak during the WH meeting. She called it "fake news" and made this statement literally a few hours before Donald went on twitter to say he did reveal classified intel during the meeting for "humanitarian reasons."

Yeah he's going to be like Joe Pesci in goodfellas. Thinking he's about to be celebrated.

Exactly this. He didn't do a BAD job, he did a GREAT job. And to complete the job, he's gotta go.
