How they explain each phase of the moon?

How do they explain anything, really? Literally almost nothing works. I mean, just look at that .gif for a few cycles: North America has daylight for about 2/3 of each cycle. Or how about seasons?

And the answer is: they explain it - whatever it is - with more insanity. Never underestimate the human ability to pile delusion upon delusion to avoid being wrong.
