I have a questions for those insisting on a physical release.
People do realise printing discs, packaging, shipping on cargo ships, aircraft, by air by sea, storing stock in warehouses, transporting them through international distribution chains, transferring them to retail stores, making onto shelf spaces and retail margins can add MILLIONS to the cost of a game?
Literally MILLIONS when the entire budget of the basic Shenmue 3 - to make it happen at all was only $2million? Compare that to putting the game on a PSN server - the cost of which is in the region of pennies per sale.
Would it not make more sense to ensure we hit the $5million or $10million development goals first before we insist on expensive fancy things such as retail distribution?
Im annoyed more at those on their high horses teasing that they have money to donate but wont be doing so unless their silly demands are met.
I trust Yu to be doing everything in his power to make this game a reality and make it the best game he possibly can.
If he happens to jump into bed with Sony or makes decisions that on the surface many people find disagreeable, I will always assume Yu, know knows far more than anyone else about all the details and options has got his priorities right in this. I'm just astonished at all the negative press and whining from other gaffers.
