More like 20."Why do we need Star Fox 2 when we have Star Fox 64 in the works?"
"You're right."

"Good idea!"

So basically, Nintendo has "master copies" of this game for multiple regions. Which means that they are final release builds and not 'nearly completed' versions.
So. the final officially released version of the game will hopefully be an improvement over the leaked version. that's good
I'm intrigued about what the SNES Classic version is going to play like. If Cuthbert is serious about the leaked beta not having Rouge-like gameplay, and isn't just trying to make the ROM seem undesirable to appease Nintendo, then the gold master could be a completely different game experience.
We shall see. I wonder if the rerelease of the SNES games means that the series can go back farther than 64 for the next reboot. I also wonder if we'll see a stage or some other kind of SF2 representation (remixed music, etc.) for the next Smash game.
The difference between this and Mother 3 though is that this game was 100% QA tested and translated back in the day, and was ready for release, just as Earthbound (NES) was. That is why Nintendo was more easily able to release it, all things considered. Mother 3 requires a bit more work having not been translated or gone through any of the testing that would have been required.
This is still a huge deal for game preservation, but if Nintendo chooses to go even further with something like Mother 3, we're in for a lot of potential surprises down the line.
why would a QA'd and polished version not be an improvement?
what's with all the maybes and hopefullys here. this is one of the most certain things going on in life right now
Baten Kaitos HD collection for Switch by Monolith soft
Project Zero 4 and A.S.H. should be next, as they are also localised.

He's also said the final version has a system where it gives you a unique set of missions each time you play.
Problem here is that the game still potentially has the game crashing bugs, which I don't see Nintendo putting up with. Even if most are easily avoided. The problem is the potential freeze regardless of what you're doing. Happened the first time for me in the first ten minutes. Though I'd love it if they'd fix those and just release the localisation...Project Zero 4 and A.S.H. should be next, as they are also localised.
I probably will be in the market for a StarFox 2 repro cart, assuming they extract the final version rom from the classic mini.
I'm buying a US and Japanese mini anyway... but I'd love to play it on original hardware.

Wouldn't a repro cart be problematic because of the SFX chip?
So, if there's a N64 Classic Mini, will we get the N64 version of Mother 3 ?
Maybe that will give some ideas at Capcom to bring back Mega Man Legends 3.
More like Winter Gold or Doom because those have Super FX 2 while Stunt Race FX has the first revision.It is... because they have to cannibalize an actual SuperFX cart to make it. Good bye one copy of Stunt Race FX from the world ;_;
StarFox 2 repro carts have already been a thing for years, based on the leaked prototype.
It's more likely a (half?) translated Sin & Punishment. So, if there's a N64 Classic Mini, will we get the N64 version of Mother 3 ?

Ah thank you for the clarification. In all honesty there are three SuperFX chips:
- MARIO chip, only used in Star Fox 1.
- GSU1, which is actually compatible with Star Fox 2 without any impact on performance.
- GSU2, same as GSU1 but allows ROMs that are more than 1MB (which Star Fox 2 is 1MB).
This video shows it well:

Are Fay and Miyu considered new characters, or old ones? They look cool in the cover art.
Fox looks weird though
Of course not. That was never finished. Also of course not localized. Either of these you mentioned. They're releasing stuff they have just sitting there completely finished.
It's got a sequel on DSiWare called X-Scape though that's really good. No, it was a wire-frame 3D shooter for the Gameboy by Argonaut wich got them the attention of Nintendo. It sadly was only released in Japan.
After what happened with Zero, we NEED an original Star Fox game. One that goes back to the roots of the series and makes it glorious

Ah, good to know. Lord knows we wouldn't sacrifice a Yoshi's Island.More like Winter Gold or Doom because those have Super FX 2 while Stunt Race FX has the first revision.
Ah, I love your way of thinking good sir! 😍Not really a problem since they need to go in for the HD remastering anyway
Wasn't this just reworked into Majora's Mask once it was clean the DD was never going to be a thing? I remember Miyamoto stating something like that, but might be remembering incorrectly...Little Monser;242045739 said:Whoa!!!!! WANT
Maybe with the 64Mini we might get that unreleased Zelda game that was originally made for the 64DD

Why would Cuthbert have any desire to "appeasing" Nintendo? With a lie that would have been found out shortly thereafter by players? Why do we need the conspiracy?

canonically new but elements of them were re-used for Bill and Kat in SF64
Boy I can't wait for the proper introduction of two new female characters for the internet to draw never ending amounts of furry porn for. Krystal's got her work cut out for her now.
I want Star Fox 2 but I could do without the above
It's fucking with my mind knowing this game is theoretically eligible for GOTY.
He's also said the final version has a system where it gives you a unique set of missions each time you play.
That's what is meant by Rogue-like.
The beta as it exists does not have that. If the missions and encounters of each playthrough are randomized and different every time, then that's going to yield a VERY different kind of game from the beta, especially if there are encounters that only occur in the gold master.
Cuthbert is a lot less grandiose about this in the newest IGN interview than he was in the older Nintendolife article, only saying that the final master has more QA. We shall see in September.
Dylan here - the IGN interview and others were just quick Q&As the day of the announcement.
I wasn't saying it just has more QA - more that it has all the final polish applied and all the features enabled, a lot of that comes from the way Mario Club works - it isn't just testing for bugs, they have a very thorough feedback loop and major changes and tweaks are made to the game.

So what are the chances of being to able to play this at some point without the SNES mini? Because I want the game but have no desire for another bit of hardware taking up room especially when I have the original SNES on hand. Not to mention the hassle of getting a mini for a reasonable price.

So does that make Fay, Miyu and the badass Wolf design canon?
