If they got the IP back that'd be awesome but from DFA's last video I have the feeling DF doesn't have the money to buy back anything.

I really don't get why big publishers free themselves of IPs like these in the first place. I mean, it's not like they have maintaining costs or DF can pay them millions for it, so why not keep it?

It wouldn't be that big a milestone, would it?

That the PC version sells better? Yes it would be good for Double Fine. They have some problems here and there.

Or do you mean porting a console game to the PC? Porting to the PC isnt for free. You need at least 3-6 months for porting.

Selling better.

Okay. Not for the whole industry. But if that happens it just shows that the pc is a good system where you can sell your niche games better and so others will follow and port their games to the PC. I mean look at some games from the Steam list. Antichamber is a well recieved game. Would that happen on the Console? No. Or Hotline Miami. Would it sell better on Console? Nope. Sometimes we hear things like "PC version sold better then Xbox360" and that alone gives a good point for some companies. But if you hear it more and more we will someday have more (for better or worse) games on the PC then on console.

And overall it helps Doublefine.

There are more games being released on PC already.

The thing is that 10 times 200k is still not really worth it by AAA games standards, which is why it won't matter anyways to EA.

You people are right, they probably worked out a publishing deal with DF, either by selling the license or lending it for a PC release.

What's the consensus on Strike Suit Zero? A Steam key for it can be had at GMG for 12$ but I was checking the reviews and let's just say that they have not been kind. Anyone have any input?

I can say that some of the reviews I've read were clearly written by people with little space sim experience, complaining about genre staples like escort missions. The little I've played of the game was enjoyable but I'd prefer something with more mechanical depth.

Mostly Call of Duty and fighting games. I'll put up with 30fps in certain XBLA/PSN and fixed perspective games but I generally don't play a lot of console retail anymore.

Good news: other than Psychonauts (which is 60 fps anyways), all of Double Fine's games are XBLA/PSN titles.

Didn't they patch one of their games to unlock the framerate? I think it was Stacking.

SFxT character DLC is launching at $5 (-75%) next week on Steam. Pretty good deal for 12 characters.

You don't say

Well I saw it in the steam registry before you dropped that big hint. :p

Nope. They said something about their internal engine being restricted to 30 FPS and that they will patch most/all of their games once they get around to unlocking the framerate.

There are two games that really scare me.

Dark Souls - I haven't bought it, mostly because I'm afraid that I'm going to hate it. With a backlog of 40+ games and having limited time to actually play games, I find myself oddly lured into wanting to pick this up, but also almost 100% assured that its difficulty will piss me off and that I'll put it aside to play more of the games I can finish.

Dota 2 - My nephew plays HoN and enjoys it quite a bit, so I want to try a MOBA. I want to try this out but I get the feeling I'm going to be completely clueless on how to play it and wind up sucking hind tit every game. Is there a match-making system that gets all the clueless players into the same game so they can fuck up without screwing up experienced players?

You should probably play Co-Op vs Easy Bots until you understand the core mechanics.

It will put you with new players regardless, but you should practice against bots first maybe. And read some guides, watch some videos perhaps. Check out the OT, has a good OP with info.

Cool. Thanks for the tips. Didn't realize there was an option to play against bots to practice. I'll try that out and check out the Dota 2 OT.

Yeah there is but it's not going to stop people from yelling at you...also you can play against bots to practice as well...

How long until the Summer Sale? This will be like the 5th or 6th game I want from 2013 (it's port, but you know...)

Around five months. It usually begins in late June but last year it was a couple of weeks late.

Man I wish the The Showdown Effect was a co-op game like magicka.

Not sure how you'd implement co-op in to the game? There will be team based modes though apparently. I mean how do you co-op a game which is basically Super Smash Bros meets Action Quake?

I should mention it is a tonne of fun and people should give it a go.

So I still have some time to play the games I already have.

And then I'll buy more games than the ones I've beaten during that time.

Thinking about it, this sounds like a great year for games I'm interested in:
  • Runner 2
  • Antichamber
  • The Cave
  • Double Fine Adventure (already backed this)
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth (if it ever comes out...)
  • No Time to Explain (I really like the original Flash game, though I don't know how's the Steam version like)
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
  • Brütal Legend (it's a port, but to me it'll be a new game)
  • Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (sadly I don't have a 3DS)
  • GTA V (if it doesn't come out in PC, I won't be able to play it. If it does, I may not be able either, depending on the requirements)

I'd be very surprised if GTAV PC launches this year. Q1 2014 is my guess, maybe a little later if sales of the console versions are stronger than expected.

Knowing MS the 360 will probably get temporary DLC exclusivity for GTA V. So I'll double-dip on the game. R* really needs to port RDR for PC.

Anyone else preordered Bioshock Infinite? How is the Industrial Revolution browser game? I know you can unlock in-game weapons by playing it.

Steam Linux actually runs smoother than the Windows counterpart for me, I currently have 30 linux games on steam:

Although getting games to run is another issue.
