It's that time again...
Yes, more stupid questions that you were too ashamed to make a dedicated thread for, but always wanted to know the answers to.

Inspired by the original thread began by Cyan, which reached it's demise.

To begin, here is my own stupid question:
In Windows (8, 7, or Vista), how do you find a product key for software and remove it so it can be installed again? I installed a program under an incorrect name, and I think the program is refusing to run due to it. I've uninstalled it, system restored to a previous date, and still when the program is ran it shows the incorrect "Registered for user..." followed by a prompt saying it will not run.

Here's my stupid question.

I bought a new AirPort Time Capsule. If I name it exactly same as the old one and have exactly the same password, will all my existing devices continue to connect without interruption?

This might be too late, but Windows 7 has regedit like past editions of windows. Try searching for the name of the software and you should eventually find the key, unless they were sneaky about it.

They reuse old URLs which means you might end up getting e.g. porn if you visit an old thread with images hosted at their servers.

The old thread was very useful and I was surprised when the moderators decided to shut it down. Hopefully they will take the time to clarify why they did it if they decide to lock this thread too.

Didn't think this was worth a thread on it's own so I looked for this one. A couple years ago I came across some youtube video that had a lot of views. It was a comedic song tribute to terminator 1, and it made fun of the fact that Arnold gets neutered in Terminator 2 in terms of violence, and compared the 2 movies. It was like a minute and a half long maybe 2. I think it had it's own chorus and like 2 short verses.

I remember one of the lyrics was pointing out a scene in Terminator 1 where he says "fuck you asshole" to someone, and compared it to terminator 2 where Arnold doesn't say anything like that. That's all I remember unfortunately. I can't find it or remember the name, has anyone heard of it or knows what it was called?

Looking for the name for some vintage A/V cables. They're the kind that looks like a couple two-pronged forks that you had to slide in and then tighten. They were basically replaced by standard RF cables. Anybody remember what they were called?

Cravings will never fully stop, especially when you drink. But if you're serious about quitting then they eventually become so infrequent and short-lived that it's a non-factor.

I think the more common solution is to remove the old connectors and then add a new pair instead. It's just a single wire running through each cable so it's not very difficult to fix yourself.

I'm not looking to replace connectors. I'm looking to convert it into a typical single coax RF connector, like this.

Why was the other Stupid Questions thread closed? It was only at 6000 posts or so and I found it to be one of the most useful threads on GAF.

Big threads are a problem for the servers, I think. That's the explanation I remember at least when some big thread got locked a while ago and a second one started, I don't remember which.

Because they're stupid, and nobody wants to see them clutter the threads page. I'd get banned if I made a thread asking about gobstopper prices on Amazon... Most people asking here wouldn't have started threads, here is where you can get those questions off your chest.

How should I call the user account of my HTPC?

It's a Mac mini and I'm using XBMC. Currently it's named Media, and the HDD with the actual media is called Data. I'd like to rename the latter to Media as there is no other data on it, but I can't think of another name for the user account. As I'm often opening folders via Spotlight or Alfred (quick launcher for Mac), it has to be something unique.

XBMC? No, I do already have a XBMC folder in the home directory.
Admin? No, I do already have an admin account.
My first name? No, I'm not the only user.

Question: In which do we look accurate, mirror or camera (photo) ? I look better in mirror, i hate my photos. I just want to know how i look to other people's eyes.

Well a mirror will have perfect to life resolution but is flipped. A camera is limited by its resolution but isn't flipped. Camera resolution is so high now that I think a camera is most accurate.

Of course in a mirror you're moving and not frozen to a single frame. People are typically seeing you moving.

You could see if you can view the page source or make a PDF of the website and do OCR to be able to copy text from the PDF. Without any further info that is all I can think of.

My girlfriend cannot empty her bladder in one pee session. She feels like she does, but she'll have to pee again moments later. Usually twenty minutes. This usually occurs after she drinks a lot at once. It isn't a UTI since it's been like this for many years.

What is it?

I had this problem with snopes.com (via Firefox). I used to use this technique:

...but it doesn't work on snopes anymore.

However, since I'm running noscript now, I was able to highlight/copy/paste from snopes, presumably noscript suppresses whatever trick snopes uses to try to prevent it. I confirmed this by clicking the noscript option, "temporarily allow all this page" and that allowed the snopes highlight block to kick in.

A third option, if you are using Firefox, is to use Ctrl-A (select all on the page) and Ctrl-C (copy all), then paste into notebook and do a normal highlight/copy/paste of the section you want from there.
