Support for Donald Trump's impeachment is higher than his approval ratings

Typo. Higher than his approval ratings**
Seems somehow this wasn't posted yet on this forum yet. I clearly don't support him but was more interested in hearing people's thoughts on the board. Real discourse and not left/right wing shit posting. Does impeachment look more like a realistic scenario than ever or is it a wash?

"President Donald Trump is a mere 1 percentage point away from former commander in chief Richard Nixon when it comes to the number of Americans who want him impeached, according to a new poll released Friday.
A wide-ranging SRSS poll conducted for CNN touched on a number of topics, including Trump’s handling of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, and whether or not the president should testify before special counsel Robert Mueller.

Forty-two percent of those polled answered that Trump “should be impeached,” compared to 51 percent who answered they “don’t feel that way” and 7 percent who registered no opinion.

Five months before Nixon would eventually leave office in disgrace over the Watergate scandal, 43 percent of Americans thought he should be impeached, per a poll from March 1974, CNN reported.

The current poll also reflected a 39 percent approval rating for Trump, his lowest mark in the SRSS poll since February, when it was 35 percent. Results from March and May were far stronger, at 42 and 41 percent,
respectively"

I wonder what liberals would think if this actually happened and Mike "Ride the Lightning" Pence got into office with a social-conservative legislature behind him.

Does anyone think that would end well?

I would take pence for the remainder of the term if it meant we all get to watch cheeto be escorted out of the white house. I can hear him throwing a tantrum now lol. Not to mention watching the trump cult crumble would be deeply satisfying to me. Could watch my racist co workers/family cry "but Hillary" !!!!

Even if he pissed all over LGBTQ rights because he is a hardcore christian? So are you saying you don't really care what the administration does as long as its not Trump?

Pretty selfish dont you think?

I don't think he would be able to do anymore harm then trump is doing. He would probably do less cause he wouldn't constantly insult and dehumanize entire groups of people on a nearly daily basis.

Impeachment, another leftist pipedream. He will be president for another 6 and half years. Whether he'll be a lameduck is different question tho.

Say If Trump was going to be leaving the office now, Pence would be serving the rest of Trump's first term. So Pence would have to face a Democrat in 2020. And as of right now, Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren are the likely candidates. Maybe Kamala Harris or Corey Booker. There may be a chance a Democrat could beat Pence in 2020. But I am only guessing how it will work should Trump leave between now and next year. So it would be hardcore Christian vs a progressive if we go with Warren or Sanders.

Trump's impending impeachment is like that furniture store in your city that's been having a "going out of business" sale since 1997.

Even if he was impeached, there is no chance he is removed from office. It takes a 2/3 vote in the senate to accomplish that. And republicans are predicted to actually gain senate seats in the fall. No sitting senator has ever voted to remove a president from their same party.

I actually think the chance of an impeachment is incredibly low. For one, it's far from a sure thing that democrats retake the house. Secondly, I don't think they would even try to do it unless Mueller gave them heavy ammo. Which I don't think he has, or he would have already put it out. He's got nothing that directly implicates Trump in anything. "Collusion" is not even a crime. If anyone colluded with the Russians, it was the Clintons. Shortly after Russia declared its intention to gain a majority share in Uranium One, Bill Clinton was paid 1/2 million dollars to give a speech in Moscow. His fee was paid by a Russian bank with ties to the Kremlin.

And Obama's cyber chief recently said he was actually ordered to stand down in summer of 2016. Russia's efforts to "interfere" in the election have been dramatically overstated for propaganda purposes. The idea that they actually helped tilt the election is really far fetched. But even still, this is apples and oranges compared to the original conspiracy. That Trump was somehow a victim of Russian kompromat, and that he was a Russian manchurian candidate. Trump obviously likes Putin, but that feeling existed long before Trump even announced he was running for president.

Your point about collusion not being a crime is half truth. It depends , if it was proven Trump's collusion directly interfered with the U.S. elections, that would be illegal.

Do you expect me to believe that a CNN poll was conducted objectively?

Hey man , I know it's not Fox News who are completely fair and balanced. /s

The point of the thread was less about the poll and who conducted it than it's about if impeachment is looking more likely especially given the criticism he's received over past few weeks.

Yes, because hurt feelings are the worst right? Much worse than actual legislation that hurts these communities.

Besides, when did Trump do that on a daily basis? He's obviously a brash guy, but I've mostly seen the media resort to soundbites and faked outrage, such as when he called MS13 members "animals" and the media tried to make it seem like he was talking about immigrants in general.

You are using the poll as the basis of your argument though.

It's literally all I heard online this week and it wasn't posted here , so I posted it. There are threads here from several various news agencies , including Fox News, I haven't looked but are you in those same threads critiquing the source as well? Do you have anything to add other than just stating you don't agree with the poll because CNN conducted it?

Please let's try to make our contributions count. If we are not interested in the topic then let's ignore it. If there's an issue with the topic itself then use the proper channel to deal with it.

I’m saying that you’re acting on emotion and without critical thought if you believe a poll conducted by CNN given their recent polling history. If it’s all you’ve heard online this week, you’ve likely confined yourself to echo chambers.

Ok , let's say the poll said the reverse . Trying to get this shit back on topic . Do you think he has a chance of getting impeached or not? It's not a difficult thing guys.

If he does something impeachable, sure. I haven’t seen any evidence that he has done anything impeachable though. What do you specifically want him impeached for? The Russia conspiracy?

I don't want him impeached for anything specifically . Don't attack me because I posted a CNN poll you don't agree with cause it doesn't fit your agenda.

Your Freudian slip in the thread title indicates otherwise.

Oh god shut up. You been reported a few times now for your shit post. Either discuss the topic or leave. Don't attack me personally cause your upset the poll doesn't agree with your personal choice. I accidentally wrote the word impeachment twice, that must mean I secretly want him DOUBLE impeached. Genius level of debates at hand.

Trump won the election fair and square.
You don't have to like the guy but removing someone from power because of your "feelings" is the fastest way to destroy democracy.

Someone said it best, he's like the guy flying an airplane. You should be working with the pilot, not throwing him out of the cockpit and praying the plane flies itself.

"I give him 2 month in office before he's impe.... Whats that?
...Oh."

I find this stuff so funny. The people running naked through the streets screaming “IMPEACH!” at the top of their lungs are dumbfounded that the rest of us aren’t running with them. Show me evidence of what he has done to warrant impeachment. Don’t start at the conclusion and work backwards to find a reason. Not liking his personality is not evidence and neither is a poll by a demonstrably biased network whose previous polls had Hillary winning the election by a landslide.

CNN is bogus and has been on a tirade against him since the beginning. I would take their poll with a mountain of salt.
What do people want him to be impeached over? 5% GDP growth, peace with Korea, better jobs, low unemployment, and trying to secure the border?
He openly waved the LBGTQ flag at one of his rallies, he wants to give more maternity leave for women, and he supports veterans in a big way.
The only black marks I can see is not releasing his taxes and the grab em by the p comments. The recent separating families at the border I'll buy too, but impeachment over that? The Russia investigation has proven there was zero collusion so far.
What is this outrage over? I just feel there are too many emotional people watching CNN and clinging to their "liberal" ideals. I have news for you, your political identity has been hijacked by politically correct leftist authoritarians who will absolutely decimate any chance the Democratic party has at rebuilding itself for many years to come. It's also personally sad to me that in 2018 I identify better as a conservative than a liberal.

i hate cnn too and im liberal.

Trump being impeached is a pointless day dream. Republicans would be stupid to go along regardless of how Trump's approval ratings look. People are going to get real shook when he actually gets a 2nd term.

I personally feel like classical liberalism died in 2016.
Being a liberal was no longer about wanting to improve society and help the planet. Instead, it turned into a screeching match of "Russia! Russia!" and "lol you're racist".

Even in Canada, Liberalism transformed into something unrecognizable. I never knew what virtue signalling meant before. Then our Prime Minister really showed us what those words meant.

I agree. Impeaching him would guarantee another democrat in office.

Trudeau is fucking batshit insane and won’t last in office. When he pulled this stunt, I felt bad for him and his family. One of his handlers or his own wife should have pulled him aside and told him Halloween can be celebrated privately, preferably indoors at his age- not in freaking India!

Are these the same polls that predicted Hillary to win? I think polls are even more untrustworthy nowadays .. Trump has effectively (and in many cases rightfully) gotten people to disregard the mainstream media machine

Polls can be crafted and manipulated to tell whatever story you want depending upon the narrative. Trusting MSM & in this case CNN to be impartial is the OP's first mistake.

You guys know the poll was conducted by SRSS on behalf of CNN and not a poll conducted by CNN correct?

You made a thread about a poll then said the thread isn't about the poll. Then said this.

So is it about the poll or not? And btw my previous statement still stands. Polls have variance depending on the polling parameters. They can be made to look like whatever you want. Conducted by someone else on BEHALF of CNN is still a poll reflecting CNN's politics. You're taking issue with people calling out your source but it's fair.

Can anyone find a link to the actual questions from the poll. CNN's link didn't have them. This could be just like that republicans are against women presidents poll a few months back, but unless we get the questions and methodology we can't tell.

If you look above I agreed with the fact trump probably shouldn't be impeached coming from the Repubs. I am allowed to state this thread isn't much about the polls while still ensuring people understand who conducted the polls. I am more interested in your ideas about a possible impeachment but if you read above, three people posted in a short time upset about this being a CNN poll. I'm positive we wouldnt see this much dissent from the same posters if the polls were from a right leaning news source.
