Personally I recommend reading the original Mirage Comics series. However, they are very difficult and pricey to find some of the original issues and trade paperbacks. IDW has been handling the comics since Mirage Comics closed shop and sold the franchise to Nickelodeon. They have reprinted old Mirage issues, as well as created their own series (which is referred to as Volume Five).

For the IDW reprints of the Mirage Series, start here,

Or, ask for more information in the comic book threads.

Then there is the ongoing Nickelodeon cartoon series, which is wrapping up its second season (on hiatus leading into the third). More information can be found in this thread,

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Kinda want to see it for knoxville and (of course) megan fox, but I still can't get over how they look.

I know what I am doing August 8th.

Watching GotG for the second time!

Oh and seeing this maybe. It is probably going to be shit. Meh. Pringles cans look atrocious.

Whereas I am curious as to how this train wreck will work out, I refuse to pay money for it.

After the eyesore/brainpain of Pain and Gain and the latest Shitformers, Bay is not getting a single cent from me.

Edit: nice OT though, good work.

As much as I like the Turtles.......eh. If it turns out good, I'll check it out, but I'm currently in "Wait & See" mode. Besides, as I've said in the past, Nick is still showing a damn good TMNT show, so that kinda scratches my TMNT itch.

Nice OT, by the way.

They look like porn versions of themselves.

The OT is probably better than the movie will be.
Hey, this is a pretty good OT, it's not fair to the Bay Turtles. But let's be honest, that's probably gonna be the case.
Please prove me wrong, TMNT.

I really want to watch it, but I know I am going to be so annoyed with how they look, I'm worried I wont be able to enjoy it.

Nice OP, well done, but this movie looks like a piece of fuck.
Although since I expected absolute garbage at least I won't be disappointed.

As much as I want to see GotG and believe it'll be the better movie, I can't help but be excited by TMNT simply because my son and I (and wife) are huge Turtles fans. Hell, I've been reading my son chapters from the TMNT complete visual history book for a bed time story the past couple of nights haha.

Everything about this smells wrong, but hey.. Prove me wrong.

This would have to get pretty bad reviews for me to not be at least a little curious to see it.

The weirdest thing for me is still the glasses. I mean they don't fit them at all? Just seems like more busy shit on them.

I'm still going in a bit sarcastically. Am I excited and consuming prior iterations of the franchise and mounds of pizza? Heck yeah!

Point is, it's pretty much a guarantee this isn't going to be the worst entry in this franchise history. Plenty of skeletons around. I do think the film is going to contain enough banter from the turtles to make it enjoyable.

As far as the designs, I grew up with the Mirage series. The whole purpose of it was to give other artists the creative freedom to imagine their own version of the TMNT characters. I think they look about what I would expect in a modern variant.

I reserved the OT (see the OT thread), and was going to put it up a week before release. But whatever, I'm not gonna challenge it.

I think we need stricter rules in the Off-Topic section, they keep getting put up earlier and earlier before release (in the case of films).

Uhhh...I've already had much of the thread ready for a couple weeks now. I mentioned doing it, and even PMed another member to see if he wanted to after suggesting he wanted to do so. So, no feet stomping.

Secondly, I also messaged a moderator about when the OT could go up. There are about four or five threads that are randomly bumped when any dialog/news comes up. This way the information and be condensed and clear in the home stretch.

Should have consulted the OT thread, which is supposed to be the standard protocol now. But doesn't look like he's putting up much of a fuss.

On the subject of the relatively unknown actors, look at the OP for the actor who plays Donatello. If you're old enough to remember, that is the son of the guy who played the lead on the PBS Show Mathnet. Can't get it out of my head now.

Where can I get high res versions of those posters?

Something happened when I copy and pasted the OT in there. I'll try and fix that so you can click on them.

I'll be updating it with any new information, products, and media periodically as well.

You have to claim it in the OT thread no? If you didn't do that then none of what you said actually matters. Zulithe doesn't seem to care all that much but just keep it in mind for the future is all.

Crazy. I liked Mathnet, but loved SquareOne TV.

You know, I'm still okay with the designs.

The movie will still most definitely suck, but the designs are fine.

Just a small fixing for the OP :

It still missing 4 episodes for Nick's TMNT to finish it's second season.

It is on a hiatus, but the season will have 26 episodes like the first one

I'm aware. Realistically though, Nickelodeon is just going to tack them on to the start of the next season. They probably have the easiest broadcasting job, and they have no clue how to do it.

The Ninja Turtles series is so weird, I feel like it has a sense of identity similar to Sonic's in that it can't decide whether to be for kid's, or to be awkwardly dark and brooding. TMNT began as a fairly dark comic, then completely changed its identity to a children's product with the cartoon, had a bit of a darker face-lift with the original movie trilogy although was still intended for kids, but then they've been trying to harness a darker edge to it ever since with the CGI movie, the weird beat 'em up game, and this new movie.

All of the content since the OG cartoon has been child-friendly no-doubt, but it's just... bizarre to me, that the same franchise owned by the same company can look as different as this:
