Questions:
What happened to JumpFesta Senbatsu Day 2?
The winning team declined the invitation to the National Finals, and then the runner-up declined too; the third place finisher was slated to take the slot 2 weeks ago, but it seems they also have had to decline the invitation also within the past few days; Nintento, has now accepted the invitation from their 4th place finish.

Do I need a NicoNico account to watch?
No, you do not

Why does the quality suck?
It's NicoNico

What is Koshien?
It's a National High School Baseball Championship in Japan

Why do some teams have plain uniforms?
Some regions held tournaments at double the size which allowed 2 representatives; they were the runner-up and get a poverty uniform

Are there any repeating teams competing?
No, but 3 individuals competed last year: Kinki's runner-up's first pictured from the left was part of last year's runner-up Yume Iro BWI and Kyushu's winning team's third pictured and Kanto A Block's first pictured were part of the National winning team, Ika Tama Kids

Where is the Squid Sisters Live?
Tokaigi 2017 doesn't have a music/perforance area this year so they are gone

Subbed :3

Out of curiosity, what kits show up the most in these tourneys? Will there be any particular rules for quick respawn and stealth jump? Has there been any strong performance by a Rapid Blaster (Pro) player by any chance?

Dynamos and Hydras were pretty common iirc. Not sure what rules you're looking for, they are only allowed 3 skills and they can choose anything. From looking back at the team statistics stream, it suggests skills were picked by individual player preference. I didn't see any rapid blasters in the winning teams (unless it goes by some different name in Japan).

Is this the sequel to the 1 000 000 dollar tournament?
It's the sequel, but Splatoon wasn't a million; Tokaigi 2016 altogether had a mil, and they hold many competitive games at the event.

Hmmm, so based on what you said it sounds like they pick 3 main skills, and the clothing have no sub skills at all. That seems fine. Dynamos and Hydras seem to make a lot of sense, given that Turf Wars is the only mode.

For more context, a particularly nasty build has become very popular in ranked games that is very much not fun to play against. It primarily uses Stealth Jump with the rest of the main slots and sub slots filled in with Quick Respawn Up. This particular build is known as a "zombie" build that's starting to get regulated by some Japanese Splatoon tourneys afaik.

Huh, is it like a team of them or something, but I guess if you trade for at least 1 kill you'd make ground.

Damn, they mentioned this during the statistics stream, but there are going to be 3 concurrent streams up, the main with commentary (I would think the traditional 1/2 on each team and 2 additional streams with all of one team screens for people that want to see all the action all the time. If they gots nothing but commentary on main, i am cri.

Games were a total step up from last year, so many close matches.
Find the 1 female in the pic. :p

Ah, didn't notice Bashabasha's DarkPabloman's Megaman helmet

Ha, I actually didn't have too hard a time finding her. But yeah, I hope to see more women participating in Splatoon tournaments. I know I would if I had a dedicated team, lol.

Anyways, super fun tournament. Still going through the previous matches though. Love to see how much Japan absorbs this game.

There are a fair amount of women teams in these tournaments, this year they didn't go too far, fan favorite Ika Tako Business is 2 men, 2 women also.

Nah, Ika Tako lost their plain female this year and got a generic male instead. That said, yeah, I do believe female participation was up; they just kept losing. :(

As for matches being uploaded, if they follow what they did last year, they would upload them on niconico's player and be linked on the info site. They embraced YouTube this year too so maybe they'll be up on the Nintendo YouTube also. You're not going to get the hype comments unless you timeshifted or someone records it for you though.
