No we normal handed people have found a home here. Stay over there. The xbox controller wins out simply because of stick placement. Playstation really needs to stop worrying so much about it looking "iconic" and just place the left stick where it makes sense.
But AA batteries don't 'feel' premium. The aa batteries are a huge positive have my rechargeable batteries since the early xbox one days and they still are going strong.
As soon as a pair is dead just put in another one and ur good to go for a few days no wires no sitting close to the console required
Absolutely. For me though coming from a v2 the sticks felt too loose, too plasticky, the top 2 back buttons awkward to use and like i said sneeze on it and the hair triggers break. I did like the triggers how you could switch them so they felt like a micro switch, until they busted.I dunno, I prefer the Instinct Pro over the Elite controller. To each their own though.
Nintendo and Xbox released the stick placement style at the same time with GC and first Xbox controllers, I love how this is a great coincidence, that's not only natural to human hands but it looked kind of cool at the time, like "next gen sign" to meNailed it. Even Nintendo adopted that style with the Pro Conteoller. My most used pads on PC.
The DS4 is great for fighters and 2D stuff.
What you call elegnt I call flimsy and cheap.
i agree and disagree. by far prefer the playstation style placement of the sticks for rpgs and normal gaming. anything fps / 3ps / shooting related it's definitely the xbox controller for me.The playstation controller wins out simply because of stick placement. How does it make sense? The xbox controller wins out simply because of stick placement. Playstation really needs to stop worrying so much about it looking "iconic" and just place the left stick where it makes sense.
How does it make sense?
Do you have thumb on different position related to other fingers on left and right hand?
Symmetrical stick placement is just more ergonomic and natural.
With xbox placement you either have to grip left hand differently, to get thump in comfortable/similar position or keep it more "close to other fingers".
With playstation placement both thumbs sit directly on sticks in neutral/relaxed position. And there is no downside, all other buttons are easily accessible.
You and other getting used to 360 placement doesnt mean it makes more sense.
to my hands playstation controllers have been much more ergonomic since ds4, old ones had sticks too close.
So, objectively symmetrical is just better. Asymmetrical is like having 2 displays, one on desk level, one high up, and calling it better because you got used to it.
I have gotten used to series x controller, but is still doesnt feel as natural as dualsense, sticks are bit too high and left stick is still in weird place. It also feels less high tech + triggers are worse and rumble feels like ps3 controller.
But it is idiotic to claim that one is great and one is non-usable, both work.
Maybe you should really try to use dualsense and not claim it is only like that because of some imaginary iconic placement?
I can admit, that xbox style isnt as bad as I thought, but it is not better to me personally.
I've explained this in another post already, but the stick locations on Playstation controllers are not in the neutral or relaxed position, and this short video explains why. If you pick up a Playstation controller without reaching for anything, your thumbs will naturally move towards the D pad and the face buttons. You have to reach for the sticks, which originally made sense because the PS1 primarily used the D pad for character movement with the left stick being optional. How does it make sense?

It's not objectively better and saying that we got "used to 360 placement" shows a misunderstanding of controllers. Pretty much every single controller for any major console has the left thumb stick in the neutral position and the D pad below or to use your terms: In the 360 placement location. You and other getting used to 360 placement doesnt mean it makes more sense.

I have. I think it's a great controller in every single way besides the stick placement. It's not that it's terrible or bad or unusable, but it just makes so much more sense to place the left stick in the neutral position.Maybe you should really try to use dualsense and not claim it is only like that because of some imaginary iconic placement?
This is actually a fantastic way to describe it.Your thumbs naturally rest on the d-pad and face buttons if you pick up a dualsense or dual shock. Its a legacy from PSX where the analog stick was optional so the d-pad was prioritized on the left side. Your thumbs naturally rest on the left stick and the buttons if you pick up an xbox or nintendo pro controller because modern games prioritize the left stick more than the right stick. Resting your thumbs on both sticks is the learned behavior since you don't naturally make a C shape with your fingers. We are all just used to it because the PSX and PS2 established dual stick controllers.
"Premium" isn't a universal adjective. I wouldn't consider either game controller a premium product. User replaceable batteries are always a plus. There is no downtime if your controller runs out of battery mid game. I grab a pair of batteries off the charger and I am back in within a minute. Internal batteries are more annoying to replace when they inevitably fail.
Dual sense is better than DS4 but only because Sony is inching closer to the Xbox form factor. I prefer Xbox for stick placement and height. Sony's short close sticks make my hands cramp. The DS4 was easier to deal with because Xbox sticks fit in without effort. The added height is a godsend for big hands. I did the same for dual sense but I had to grind the sticks a bit to make them fit.
I'm gonna teach you something that will blow your mind: If the DualSense battery runs out mid game you can just plug in the cable and then KEEP PLAYING while it's charging! Amazing, I know!
And when your battery dies you need to disassemble your DualSense controller to put another cheap china battery in while I continue to cycle through the same rechargeable batteries that I use for everything in my house. Are you really so much of a fanboy that you think user replaceable batteries are bad?
I've never had a controller battery die, usually other shit breaks before that so you need to get a new one anyway. But sure, the battery life does degrade of course. That wasn't the argument I was disputing though, it was about what happens if the battery runs out mid game. Which is not an issue. Arguably it's faster to just plug in a USB cable than it is to replace the batteries in an Xbox controller.
If you happen to have a cable that reaches to where you are sitting and are happy with cables across the room then point conceded. Its seriously less issue to grab 2 batteries off a charger and be back to wireless in under a minute. The battery life is longer too compared to the play and charge kits both in terms of mah and lifespan of the batteries. Internal batteries suck.
Yeah nothing screams 2022 like lack of choice and shit internal battery.Ya, nothing screams high end electronics like those AA Duracels lolol
You don't need to plug the cable into the PS5, you can use a regular phone charger (as long as it's powerful enough), so you don't necessarily need to have it running across the room. But sure, it's a cable.
