The Zelda TP spoiler thread: ALL SPOILERS IN HERE OR ELSE (late game spoilers itt)

I have a question that hopefully you can answer, Twilight Rockstar. Do you get to play as Wolf Link quite a bit? Or is he only a small part of the game?

That doesn't really settle it. If you set the AR to 16:9 and play it on a 4:3 tv, you may just get a squished picture, like if you had an anamorphic dvd picture set to 16:9 on a 4:3 tv. Unless Nintendo made it so that if you choose the 16:9 option and has it so that it just becomes letterboxed on a 4:3 set, which would be nice. I'm doubtful of that being the case, however...

Superior Wii version comfirmed.

well, it's good to know he played the GC version so recently that the way it plays is still fresh in his mind...

Why wouldn't he remember it when we've basically been using that control scheme for 8 years?:lol

Nintendo, I will NEVER forgive you if you release the Wii and Zelda without component cables. If you must sell them online, at least start selling them early so we can use them at launch.

I want the first time I boot up TP to be as perfect as it can possibly be.

I guess that settles that then ;)

OK, glad to hear that you're not forced to play letterboxed on a 4:3 TV. I assume since you set up progressive scan/interlaced through the same menu you can also play the game at 480p on a 4:3 TV too?

Oh, and Twilight, one simple question which I never could find an answer on--can you fight without using Z-targeting (i.e. just waving around the remote to slash in whatever direction Link is facing)? Thanks.

Not surprised at the non-existant orchestrated soundtrack, but I can understand. It's expensive(although Nintendo could've easily used an ensemble + high quality synths instead if that was the problem, like SotC and many other games), and the game was designed for the Gamecube(although I hear they do wonders with compression these days :p /sarcasm). What I don't understand is the same low quality piece of shit instrumentation in the game's music. I've heard PS1 games with better samples. It's Nintendo just being lazy, really. The sound programmer, at least. :p

And is there really no camera control at all in the Wii version?

Bloody midi again. :( I'm kind of pissed at this, especially because they made a big deal about this being the 1st Zelda with orchestrated tracks. The impact a musical score can have on you cannot be understated, having a sweeping orchestrated score to back up some powerful moments could have really pushed this game over the edge. Instead we're treated to midi crap, very disappointing. Even more so because of the wonderful music in the trailers released.

Midi is actually capable of sounding pretty amazing and authentic. This is the Overture from The Magic Flute done entirely in midi, on a $250, less than pro-sumer level program.

Magic Flute

The problem is this quality of sound file, like authentic audio recordings of an orchestra, take up a lot of space. While it probably would fit on a Wii disk, Nintendo obviously created the music with the constraints of the GC disk in mind, then ported it over. I agree that's unfortunate, but I won't stand here and listen to people dismiss midi as universally bad, when it can actually be pretty great.

A true blue orchestrated soundtrack is always gonna sound better provided the sound quality is good, in nearly every case... so while Midi can be 'pretty good' quality or whatever, and talented individuals can do some great stuff with it, it's always not gonna be preferable to a real orchestrated set.

what the hell? From the videos I've seen, the midi quality is great. It's not quite on the level of, say, FE:poR, but it's still far above average in terms of sound quality. And that's ignoring the compositions themselves.

embargoed until the 10th?

I guess the guys in the US may have something more on Friday :(

Just think of it, after years of waiting finally we're this close to release. It feels much easier :D

Sounds average at best to me, pretty much of the same technicaly quality as Wind Waker.

ugh.. at least listen to the link I provide before calling it 'pretty good.' It sounds great, without qualification.

I...did? For one, Zelda:TP's midi does not sound as high quality as what you presented so it's a moot point. For another, the point was not whether you can get pretty good stuff out of midi... it's that high quality midi will never be as good as high quality orchestration. And as I have ears, I can easily distinguish the difference and it's important to me. I realize games have massive soundtracks in this day and age and it's not feasible to orchestrate every little thing, but I mean for something you'll hear often for the entire game like the overworld I thought Nintendo would finally put forth the effort!

Guess not, though.

Anyway I don't mean to derail the thread with "pointless bitching", because this does not reflect on Zelda:TP which is gonna be awesome either way. It's just a legitimate disappointment I have about this, given what they could have done.

no they aren't old and it's only like a sentence

Edit: Here is the actual quote ->

I'm very, very impressed with this game. The word 'epic' comes to mind, but it really does the adventure no justice. And there is no question in my mind that the Wii version is the one to get.

That's not 'in English', that in 'Engrish' :p

"Zelda's princess legend Twilight" that noteworthy level is particularly high as Rontitaitol of new hard "Wii" of Nintendo put on the market on December 2.

It is pushed only "Novelty" that tends to exist in the title to which new hardness "If it is made to shake the Wii remote control by it is and all scenes and to sit, it is likely to satisfy it"

Also, QFMFT:
It is possible to play intuitively though it is long when making to sentences and writing.

And, it is for the attack that seeming Wii it explodes.

Good to know...

Oh, and by the way, you missed quite possibly the best non-word ever: Caractamidona

Dannie, how is it someone who can barely speak english can read this gibberish and know what they are talking about? Are you and the google translator both speaking the same language?

Just post the original site so people who can speak english (and japanese) can translate it, please.

The sentence strucutre isn't the same as in english it translates roughly into "New hard Wii R on tit, total"

Does shaking the nunchuk do the spin attack? :( I was hoping that would do the shield bump move :(
