Damn even a big name like ThunderForce can't push out of the 6-7 rut 99% of shooters are stuck in when it comes to Famitsu reviews.

That's because it's not a big name anymore. :lol

Disgaea 2 port for PSP!

I think it's in collaboration with Capcom though.

Perhaps it's that PS3 game they were said to be working on.

If it really is in collaboration with Capcom then I'd imagine it would would be multiplatform which makes sense considering Nippon Ichi has announced it's support for the 360 a year ago. I'm not sure if they've announced any Wii support but a Wii game sounds more likely to me for some reason.

Well, it's not much and definitely unrelated, but Nippon Ichi announced a WiiWare game at Nintendos conference a few weeks ago. At least we know that they are authorized and active Wii developers (Gust too, by the way).

If famitsu score are a sell out are there no other decent jap mags for score?

The biggest magazines for gaming stuff are:
- Dengeki (actually a series of magazines, not all about gaming; there are a few VG ones, though)
- Famitsu (+ Famitsu DS+Wii / Famitsu X360 / Famitsu Playstation, and several others)
- V-Jump (only for games based on manga, really, but a lot of DQ stuff is in there)
- CoroCoro (actually a manga magazine, but they do pokeymans announcements)

There are also several magazines focused around porno games.

Dengeki reviews are generally pretty reasonable.

Big heads up!

A certain site full of scans posted what appears to be the big table of contents.

Of course, it's all in Japanese, can someone please translate what's listed?

Are scans of the Table of Contents allowed here?

But is it the ToC? The numbers they show go upwards of 200. Is Famitsu that big?

Just my opinion, but there's no way GTAIV deserves a 39/40. Way too many flaws.

But that discussion's been done to death. For now, I'll just snicker at Famitsu and every other publication which gave it near perfect (or, in some cases, perfect) scores.
Plus, it's Famitsu. The editorial staff have no objectivity at all - they don't even pretend that it's there. I suspect that they're all angry otaku with exceedingly narrow tastes in games and very stubborn ideas on what games should be about. Think of a magazine whose staff consist of nothing but Japanese-speaking Matt Cassamassina clones.

This is why Square Enix games and big, anticipated sequels consistently get high scores, even when they're mediocre games. This is also why their opinion can never be trusted when a game is a) a new IP or b) an existing IP that deviates significantly from the formula established by previous games in the series.

So's Vagrant Story after compression. :)

Size is no excuse for the shit animation and totally uninspired designs in the game. It looks pretty lame.
i'd say that it's more a result of the budget likely being shoestrings, literally...

any more updates, or just a slow news week?

Yeah, where's the news?

Aside from those 5 WiiWare games and Sega's 428 and I think Tenchu 4, what are the other three Wii games?

The table of contents I found listed 10 Wii games, a shit ton of DS games, etc.

Boy, the people who normally scan and/or dish out the info are being lazy as hell. What's going on here?!

I like that PS2 visual novel, what is its name? *off to look some PC versions of the same*

The PS0 looks nice, same with all the weapons, it is just funny to see the low quality waterfall in the background, not like the other versions were that much better.

Then how would you explain the 40 they gave to Nintendogs?

Your theory doesn't hold up in other parts as well. RE4, a title that deviated significantly from the formula established before was still among the best reviewed RE titles for instance.

That doesn't mean Famitsu reviews can be depended upon, not by a long shot. But it has more to do with their business and not narrow tastes in gaming - basically what Jonnyram said.

I mean if it's a review of something within the game, not just a new batch of screenshots. 'Cuz based from the wording "coverage", I think it implied more than just scans. That's why I'm asking.

I do know that the game is far from being done.

The FF13 and Kingdom Hearts coverage is prettttty insane.

BTW, anyone know how much they localized GTA4? Like... is the entire thing revoiced? Or is it all subtitled?

As far as I know GTA:SA was all English.
