you mean the CoD crowd that plays Team Deathmatch which is capped at 6v6?
This is what I was thinking.

only 12? wow that is bad.
I played it. They are fodder. Actually I remember that when I played it for the first time I didn't even know there was bots in the game and I was thinking "god some of the gamers here are really bad". I suppose one of the reasons they added it is to increase accessibility for casuals and first time players. Very smart move. Nobody likes being fodder and this will allow casuals and first time players to rack up some kills and not get completely humiliated and therefore increase the fun for them.
no complaining about player count without actually know how it affects the gameplay makes your stupid.
As someone who played hundreds of hours of TF2 and even got into 6v6 for awhile the genuine TF2 experience is all about 32 players to really take advantage of the class dynamics.Exactly! TF2 to a lesser extent. And Chivalry to a greater extent. The game gets super laggy and the fights get reduced to people grouping up trying to take advantage of someone with wounds until a vanguard ambles by kills 5 people in one swing.
Honestly that sounds really boring. Sometimes fun is more important then perfect balance.

6v6 on Titanfall sounds pretty boring and it comes across as an even weirder restriction if they are just padding the experience with shit like bots.
people justifying this with Counterstrike??? We've had quite a normalcy of different game-types, with say 18/24/32/64 players for years. And now all of a sudden, its now optimal to be 6 vs 6? This is just like the HD not mattering shit of last year. Look, its a stupid idea. Its 6 vs 6 because the engine probably can't handle more on the xbox one. They are probably pushing the shit out of it, and rushing to do so.
Sounds fine as long as its still a blast to play and the maps don't feel empty. What concerns me more is the $60 price tag, are we at least getting a good amount of maps (20+) to justify this?!
Only for actual players.
The review thread will almost certainly bring this place down. It will either be angry at paid reviews or cheering for the 7/10's. I can see it a mile off.
I guess you're just not really into competitive shooters... boring would be jumping into a mech and being able to skill-lessly overpower every player on foot. That would completely suck and the game would completely tank cause 1 player having fun while 10 other players are just getting demolished is terrible.
People complain endlessly about COD killstreaks for this exact reason. The guy bombing away in the sky is having fun while everyone else is just thinking... let this end so I can actually enjoy the game a little bit. In other words, too much negative impact on someone else's play experience is crushing in a MP and is sorta why a lot of people end up disliking certain parts about COD.
How many ai players are we talking about? Are we talking bout titans walking around themselves like we saw before? or on foot ai?
I trust that Vince knows what he's doing and knows what's best for the game he himself designed. I'll reserve judgment until I actually play the game. Reviewing it now based on player count alone seems kinda short-sighted.

So wait, can you actually farm AI boys for in-game bonuses you can use against real players?
But being fodder for awhile is how you improve. Why would I want to play a multiplayer FPS game in which half the enemies I'm fighting against are AI cannon fodder? Won't that get boring really quickly? I'm genuinely confused.
Good to see the expected posts in a Titanfall thread. It's like you guys have them queued up, ready to go.
that makes no sense. you were hyped because of player count. why were you hyped in the first place then.

They are more than likely going to screw over the PC because of this as well. Which is going to throw my purchase out the window if thats the case. I play Arma, bf4, counterstrike, everything. Please, stop pretending this is some how ideal for a console game of this caliber as being pushed by everyone in the gaming world/media. You can balance 6 vs 6, as well as any game size, as many developers have done, for damn near a decade. This is not new ground here. Theres nothing in any of the footage that suggests some sort of tight knit Socom style play, or even the pace of gears.
This is funny.
I hope they don't go overboard with the AI's.
AI's in multiplayer actually annoy the shit out of me. I despise the sentry drones in KZ. If I want to play against AI's instead of people that's what single player is for.
Rather a smaller, tighter experience than a massive sloppy one.
6 on 6 worked a treat when I played it. Doesn't feel empty at all, and the AI plays a bigger part in that than you might think.
Player count is irrelevant if the game is designed well.
Since when is BF4 only infantry?Funny how some people are rationalising small/big player counts - depending on their agenda off how they want/don't want this game to be.
But I don't think this is a bad thing for a game like Titanfall (or from what we've heard it's like). It is mechs of course, and it's not just infantry like COD or BF where it's pretty much a 1.5 second kill. I presume gameplay will be a lot more tactical and the longevity of each spawn will be much longer and more rewarding than that. Not to mention it sounds pretty varied (on what you can do).
Mind you this is all just form a few videos and impressions I've read and heard about.
This is coming form someone who plans to be a PS4 gamer primarily this gen, and will never get to play this game barring a gaming PC/XB1 falling on my lap for free.
Oh, well I see persecution complex hasnt taken long to rear its ugly head this year.
Videogames.
I'm skeptical about how the AI in Titanfall flows with the game design, but that doesn't make any sense. You still have to contend with real enemies who will be shooting at you. If the game is balanced around 6v6, it's not going to be long before a real player finds another real player.
At the very least, we know that killing real players contributes to a faster Titanfall timer. If there's some kind of XP or counter system where actions feed into that(like assists, double kills, etc.), then killing the AI might let you "farm" a Titan faster. We'll have to see.
Not even mad at this.
I hope in the next Halo they keep TS 4x4.
please release a beta so i can treat it as a demo.
I think the general point was not every game has to have 6000 players to be fun, and some people (gasp) are not fans of game with high MP counts. Many of us have been fine with 8 on 8 in games like Halo for years, i don't see how this game would benefit from more players but feel free to explain how it would make it better.
No, no...They were all paid off, remember?
How powerful exactly are these mechs? In a game with mechs AND infantry it is really imbalanced considering how powerful these mechs are.
