In my small market newsroom it seems to be common among female TV reporters. They have a "brand" to stick with and don't change it for marriage, or use alternate last names they think sounds better than their real ones. Also helps them somewhat avoud potential stalkers, I assume.

What would you call it? Do perfectly sane and stable individuals walk up to a group fo 3, two of which "did nothing to deserve being attacked" and start firing? It's not a huge stretch to think he was all there upstairs and something caused him to snap.
