US House votes to adopt AHCA (Republican health care); bill moves to Senate

Here we go again.

The U.S. House of Representatives has scheduled a vote for Thursday on a Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said on Wednesday, adding that he believes the party has enough support to pass the legislation.

"We will be voting on the health care votes tomorrow. Because we have enough votes. It'll pass. It's a good bill," McCarthy, R-California, told reporters.
"We're gonna pass it. We're gonna pass it," he added. "Let's be optimistic about life."

This new push comes after moderate Republican Congressman Fred Upton, who seemingly killed the bill yesterday with his criticism, presented a new amendment today.

Upton had rocked Capitol Hill Tuesday by publicly coming out against the GOP health care bill.
His amendment would add $8 billion over five years to fund high-risk pools and go toward patients with pre-existing conditions in states that seek waivers under the Republican legislation, two sources told CNN. The measure already included $130 billion in the fund.

Nancy Pelosi is on record as calling this a scam, and that Upton was a "yes" all along.

EDIT: NYTimes Whip Count, shows who is for and against the bill

I hope if it passes it hurts the Trump voter the most. I want it to hurt. This is what you get by voting for this guy without doing some fucking research.

See, when you say "Let's be optimistic about life." That tells me that you're absolutely not sure it will pass.

What's weird to me is if they had the votes, they would've done it today, they had the time

Also this is tomorrow.

Also on Thursday, Pres Trump to observe National Day of Prayer, and sign controversial Executive Order on religious freedom.

Im shocked they are not doing it Friday but longer they wait the CBO score will be out. Then it will fail.

They're still missing 4-5 votes, but hope they can get them by tomorrow by strong arming those hold outs.

I'm not convinced it'll work. It's really risky for them, and more time means more phone calls from angry voters and more pressure from AARP.

My rep is Ted Cruz, lol.

That is self explanatory.

Ted Cruz is a senator, not a representative. He isn't your rep and isn't voting on this bill tomorrow.

So you want Trump voters to die to teach them a lesson?

I don't want to see any living thing suffer. On the other hand, i'm quickly coming to the conclusion that a very large part of society is beyond reason and will only react to something effecting them personally, and even that is questionable with the amount of partisanship and hold that propaganda has over people. If we are going to suffer together over this, i'd rather get it done with as quickly as possible so the repercussions are not dragged out any further than necessary and we have a decent, measurable amount of suffering and backlash the voting population can see and feel in two years.

Good shit, and completely true.

There seems to be some confusion about this vote- Are they trying to get it through via reconciliation?

Because if they're not, and McConnell is actually somewhat intelligent, this is going to die on Senate floor.

They can't get it through reconciliation. It doesn't qualify.

The most insulting part is them being exempt from preexisting conditions.

Good though. Thin out the voting block. These morons will still blame the mexican digging the hole for their coffin, for their world ills. Dems need to get the voters out next time. Can't rely on people who would rather die than have anything from a Kenyan muslim.

Make money so you can afford healthcare gaf. I'm trying myself. But this is going to kill a lot of people. Yet it will be met with praise.

Fuck em.
