I think the WiiU will have some type of achievements feature since every game seem to have it these days so I don't see why not if they can somehow tie it in to eshop bonuses or Club Nintendo even better
Since Nintendo basically skipped a generation, if they decide on any HD remakes (which they fucking should) the jump is going to be fucking MIND BLOWING.
I'm probably as excited about HD remastered titles as new games for Wii U.
Nintendo is shameless about re-releases, so I'm not too worried about them initiating it. But I am worried about them following through with it--they abandon too many things (where is a new batch of Nintendo Selects for Wii?)
Still, I would buy HD collections/remasters of most of my GC/Wii library.
yeah discounts but they could use coins to purchase things as well
I've gotten a few things like two pouches for my 3DS that I hardly us and OSTs from Nintendo games I have ignore Club Nintendo this year did not even cash in my ambassador games only because I am too lazy to sign into the website and do like 100 clicks to get my stuff so having it wired into the WiiU OS would be so good for those who like Club Nintendo stuff
Silver would work, too. But as nice as that looks, if I squint it's still a silver Wii. Nintendo needs a new look to say "Hey, this is a brand new thing, not a sexier Wii."
I don't really think so. Actually, Nintendo's Wii design was very iconic and distinguishable from the other (really ugly imo) consoles, and they might plan to build on the brand AND the form factor, similar to Apple.
If they can build a small console, it would be stupid to bloat it with crazy-ass designs just for the hell of it (again, see 360, PS3).
I agree on the colors though, I'd really like a lot of colors to choose from :3
edit: Crap, forgot all the pages between this post and the actual end of the thread -.-

I'm going to do this regularly, just for fun's sake
Last night I thought about the fact that Microsoft are likely to release their console (let's just call it Durango for now) about a year after Nintendo. They know that they will be entering a space where a direct competitor will have existed for a straight year, alone, not unlike the situation when the PS3 was released a year after the 360. Microsoft therefore knows it has to go in GUNS BLAZING.
Considering this, Nintendo must realize that they have to get a vice tight grip on the market in this first year, or tough titties ahead. That's why I believe we're going to see some serious shit both this holiday and next, but with emphasis on next holiday, to steal as much thunder as possible from the Durango, with plenty of things happening in-between.
I predict there will be some sort of fight over GTAV between Nintendo and Microsoft, as it is a game that is moderately likely to be finished around holiday 2013. I don't think we'll see Zelda until 2014, since Aonuma IIRC said that he wanted a three-year dev cycle for the next Zelda game. Mario, however, is very likely for holiday 2013.
My final throw-shit-at-wall prediction will be some form of connectivity between games on the Wii U, and that your Nintendo account will be connected to all your other gaming accounts and synchronize friends across services.
Yeah, tell me about it. I remember reading about it in PSM and thinking it looked crazy awesome.
As for the Durango (HYAH!), I'm thinking we'll see it spring 2013. It feels like there are far too many rumors running around at the moment for it to be much more than a whole year off. I also expect Wii U no later than October, most likely September. My prediction for MS is that they're not going to to view gaming as the most important factor next gen. They're going to be looking at multimedia and set top box functionality as the cornerstone of their next console. Of course there'll be a few exclusives lined up, but I think MS has their eye on a far grander prize.
will Nintendo straight up talk about Wii U on E3 or will they do their old cocktease game.
New Games we know about, some interesting 3DS games, sales figuers, wii ain't no dead, more sale stuff, kid icarus for 20 min., new audience, blah, blah, blah.....oh and...: WII U!
you go on the website and register the games you purchased because each game has a card with a code you can type in to register your games and get the coins (points)
after you play the game you can get a survey done for that game for an extra 10 coins
then you can spend your coins on Nintendo stuff even some free eshop downloads it seems

Pretty much this. Although they got Nintendo Direct for 3DS announcements, it still will be a big part of their E3 show. I just wished they would take some more time for their conference.
I completely agree. Quite frankly, I think multiplatform support will only continue to become a more common practice for third-parties. I just wanted to point out how the Wii faced developent obstacles third-parties had to deal with that didn't make it an ideal platform for porting. In some ways, the Wii U has already overcome some of the things the Wii had issues with. In addition, even inferior hardware can still get some of the most surprisingly big and fun exclusive games around. I mean, if you asked Sony fans years ago that Monster Hunter 3 would be coming exclusivley to the Wii , they'd laugh at you.
I hope Nintendo renames the console and Since they announced the Nintendo Network they should be on the right track. I am not sure about that controller though.
also: new positioning. i think they where pretty bummed about the dact they MANY people thought this would be just some minor update to the wii or just a new controller.
can't blame the peoiple though.
still not sure if they gonna drop the Wii name. but i would love it. it's a big name today, but they want to target that new thing a a new market. why keep the old name and confuse people?
Drop Wii to a few bucks (the everyone console, like PStwo later in it's life) and put out a new console with a new name.
but it's boooooooooring! and confusing to mr consumer! he still struggles to wrap his head around the fact that his DS lite can't play 3DS games! FUCK! He has no odea why the Mario gamez ain't no work on his sons Xbox!
