Chihaya walking off the stage after the concert for some reason just made me smile. She really is the best singer of the group, and if that was ever in doubt before this episode, it sure isn't now. Nobody else there could have gone and done what she did.

I don't know dude, this guy's comically evil, but he's not the over-the-top, hilarious schemes type comically evil, which is my favorite type. He's just "jaded corporate fuckwad" evil, which just makes him a douche.

I will say that all will be justified if there is a massive (and hilarious) karma and retribution scene. Or if Makoto just starts beating the shit out of him. That will also be acceptable.

After the vacation arch the group returned back home to prepare for a school festival (sounds like every anime). Taiga's father returned briefly, if only just to show us how easily Taiga can confront her own emotions and issues of betrayal with swift resolve (?). Meanwhile Ryuuji is getting nowhere in his attempts to gain Minorin's attention, and who the hell knows what's up with Yusaku. I can't get a read on the guy, and sometimes I feel like he's just leading Taiga on. It's also weird because I'm not sensing any kind of underlying romantic chemistry between Taiga and Ryuuji (and I thought there would definitely be some). Hmmm I wonder how this is gonna end up.

Some things I do wanna say is that Mochizou's mom should show up more often, this episode was like the opposite of lewd, and Kanna continues to make me wish this was K-ON!!! instead. Cute, but not much else.

The Art of Porco Rosso came in the mail today.

Skimming through some pages displayed content of the original story: The Age of the Flying Boat (full color panels and separate fully translated version included), initial storyboards, concept script, many designs for characters (with brief profiles) and environments alike in watercolor, plenty of screens from the film and full profiles and statistics on the planes in the film! The pages are thick and glossy; it's good quality material.

Random bit: Supposedly, Porco Rosso was originally intended to be an easygoing project for the staff that slaved over Only Yesterday. Of course, as the storyboards grew, the project expanded. There's a load of more information in the book, but that's the gist of it.

Anyhow, this is a high-quality book for one of Studio Ghibli's absolute best. I may check out another book from the library in the future if I'm looking for hardcover art books again.
