Between the eyes is honestly OP. At first the Lost were a kinda fun hazard to manage with the advent inbetween. Now? Just have someone with a pistol and "blam blam blam" then get back to business as usual with advent.

it's really just annoying that you can't sic the lost on your enemies very well with the 30/70 attention split. I guess i could mod that out but I want to go through at least once before i start fucking with the roll math etc.

Between the Eyes was the first card I got from the Reapers and has basically stayed put the whole game for me.

I've still missed several 90%+ shots though which is annoying. But then again my sniper did also use Face Off and kill an entire swarm by himself.

Edit: Oh wow I just made the mistake that I've seen others do. Posted about Mario+Rabbids in here! For what it's worth, I am playing XCOM 2 WotC currently as well. :)
So yeah basically ignore this post.

It is amusing watching them tear each other apart while your squad is still in concealment.

face off is such a satisfying ability. i ambushed a 2x codex, lancer, purifier, 2x muton pod with a 'nade explosion. They didn't trigger my fucking cone of fire OW but i followed up with a face off and because the codexes all cloned themselves my sniper just murdered everything and debuffed what she didn't straight up merk

also i had the weirdest bug earlier today. lancer ran up to my guy shocked him, full animation and everything... but no damage marker, or effect, or anything. Then he disappeared. Then he... redid his turn entirely, ran up to a different girl, and shot her instead. That one actually did damage.

Nothing else weird happened that mission, so i chalked it up to 'that's xcom' and moved on

There's a mod that reworks the split. It is annoying that they'll just walk around whole groups of advent to get to you

Man, I didn't expect a Breaking Bad voice pack to come along.

So I just beat the expansion. After finishing both the original and expansion, I feel it should not have been called an expansion or rather the expansion is not worth $40

I loved everything in the game and the new additions were nice, but the word expansion to me is bigger than dlc and this felt a lot like a $20 dlc update

Also for consoles, the game is still buggy and there were no improvements in that regard and many times the bugs add even more bullshit I have to deal with (invisible enemies even though they are directly in front of me)

But I love this game so much lol. If they do something like terror in the deep, which they keep hinting at in the ending as well as the new extra cutscene from the templars, than I would consider that an expansion.

Also I really like the unique missions that pop up every now and then (chosen and story missions) but they need to add more variety or add modifiers to current missions as it gets boring when you repeat the same 3 mission types over and over

My only complaint besides the HUGE number of bugs is just that the price doesn't match the new content

The thing about the lost is that they naturally spawn closer to the enemy and they take at least two turns to reach you, while taking one turn to reaching the enemy who is closer. So to have a lost attack you, they need to decide target you twice. For a lost to attack an enemy, they have to target them once, since they are closer.

In the end, it evens out.

Finished a playthrough. Now on my new game, keep encountering this problem where my saves get fucked up.

I have XCOM 2 but didn't play although I love these kinds of games! I want to get war of the chosen (PS4) because some have said that it is better to start with the expansion. I know it will be overwhelming but I'm not worried about that. Is it good to start with the expansion?

nah this is like gods and kings level imho. not quite brave new world tho

funny you compare it to terror from the deep because TFTD was literally a skin on original x-com they shat out in a year

Starting to get random graphical glitches like enemies not falling down when they're dead, or the Codec's Psionic thingy disappearing on-screen (but still present) upon loading a save...

You could do the 'counting cards' trick of doing the stronghold mission right after a retaliation mission... so basically do your big missions at either the end of the month or the start, but no later because that's when the bulk of the missions comes down on you.

That said, the Assassin is ridiculously overpowered and therefore difficult to put down for good as it is. The other two are total pushovers when you get to them. I think they designed her this way to makes sure players would get at least one base defense mission with a Chosen. Unless you're playing on normal that is, where taking her down with predator armor and plasma rifles is difficult but doable. I did it, but there was some heavy save scumming involved to save my sniper and reaper, and everyone was shaken at the end of it. Basically you should only do her once you get powered armor, beam weapons (with breakthrough for +1 and even +2 if possible), and bluescreen rounds for everyone to waste any robot that shows up in those missions in one hit. Some of the experimental ammos may help too.

As a sidenote, I feel that the AP system has made specialists the default unit of the game. Particularly the 100% hit of combat protocol can be a life saver or easy 'low health enemy disposal' if you didn't bring a sniper with the free pistol move, or the percentages don't work.

(I also feel that I should have started on Commander difficulty, since I was already replaying EW on that difficulty as well)

I did her quite early with Mag weapons and pred armor. The key is to get more moves than her, so I used a lot of bonded soldiers and rangers to lay on the critical hits.

Oh, and I also had AP ammo.

Yesterday my game just wouldnt continue. Deep into an extraction mission, Chosen Warlock nearby. A Spectre flew over to Mox and he did his Blademaster ability thing, and stun ed the Spectre. Except the game wouldn't go to the next turn. It just stayed there indefinitely. Damnit :(.

Thankfully I always save at the start of each mission to avoid bullshit like this.

I never played terror from the deep. I just assumed that since it was under water things such as movement, unit type, and mission type would be different from the main game

nope. remember this was the era when publishers definitely did not understand software but knew they had to make a thing with a 2 on it to make money. gollop said 'yeah it'll take six years to make a decent sequel' and microprose said 'you have six months' and gollop said 'fuck that' and went off to make xcom apocolypse (on a 3 year schedule). meanwhile micropose licenced out the code and churned assets to make TFTD in less than a year i think.

also it would have been at inflation like $120 at launch probably. but that's apples to oranges, of course

i have to say there's like three or four entirely new systems they bolted onto xcom 2, they all work fairly well, they all integrate with the main system fairly well (obviously we won't totally work out balance for a while yet) and to reduce it to a $20 dlc is... kinda insulting tbh.

I mean, in terms of pure assets i don't think they added as much as an old school expansion pack like Yuri's Revenge or some shit, but the amount of gameplay complexity they added without fucking it up is really impressive.

Well it didn't feel like a meaty expansion to me. Everything they added was great though.

Yeah, they added a TON of new systems. I'd say that the asset increase is on-par too, between the Lost, the Lost maps, the Chosen, the Chosen's new maps, the new enemy types, the resistance factions... There's a lot going on here.

What lost maps? I could only remember one new mission involving them and only happened once

i spent a very entertaining map watching a lost mob try to beat the shit out of an andromedon and occasionally nuking the thing when it wandered by a car.

eventually i got tired of that and dropped a claymore + incendiary grenade on a pod's head and annihilated it in one go.

then i did it again when the Queen showed up @_@

Mind blown.
Been playing non stop since console release and I just now realized the train box at the bottom in the training grounds menu. I had no idea my regular solders were getting ability points and could get way more abilities.....had several guys with 50+ ability points who are now indestructible gods.
Maybe I'm just dumb or blind for not seeing that button but they didn't explain this system very well.

Screwed myself over and got a time over. The unit I sent on a covert op to promote to a Major to unlock a stronghold got wounded and he wouldn't recover in time to finish it if he came back. Pretty shitty. #XCOM

Funny, to me this is one of the most value-packed expansions I've ever played. Somehow the added content makes this feel like a whole new game (and perhaps the best in its genre). I enjoyed vanilla XCOM 2, but my interest waned before I even finished my first playthrough. WotC though, has me completely hooked. And luckily my experience has been pretty bug free.

It's also making me optimistic for the next Civ 6 expansion. If it's as good as this, I might finally move on from Civ 5.

I just beat my first chosen stronghold mission. It was really hard, and I'm only playing on normal difficulty. No casualties but everyone was shaken and massively wounded. Does the chosen's knowledge level affect the difficulty of the mission? Because hers was almost maxed.

That meter is basically how effective they are in the strategic map. Shouldn't affect the tactical side one bit. For the tactical side, they can get new positive perks via training that they may undertake, as the Hunter is doing in your screenshot.

Alright, thanks. I also just found out that the sarcophagus takes extra damage from blue ammo rounds. I need to have that real soon for the next stronghold missions.

Edit: Any tips on getting lots of intel? I was spending twice the amount of intel contacting resistance regions because at one point, I was 2 blocks away from Avatar completion so I needed to raid those facilities on undiscovered regions.

Finished my first veteran campaign.

I kind of feel bad about this one because my save scumming resulted in a campaign that lost its luster around the midway point, when I crushed all of Advent's facilities in a single go and beat the avatar project counter all the way back to zero. The entire rest of the campaign was just my troops mopping up on easy missions ("very difficult", my ass) and waiting for research projects to finish. Ended up with a massive resource surplus by the time I finally decided to run the network tower mission.

Even the final mission ended with no casualties and hardly any struggle, and I had never run it before (never finished a vanilla XCOM 2 campaign). I also didn't pour all of my AP into my elite squadron, as I actually spent a significant chunk of the latter half of the campaign just training up weaker soldiers for the hell of it. Ended up with 19 colonels, 8 higher than the worldwide average.

My stats if anyone cares:
Some of those worldwide stats are, unfortunately, clearly slanted by cheaters, but most of them are still useful. Let's see how I can do on a commander run...

Xcom is about managing disaster. Good job on finishing the campaign.
Now you know the game and you know the rules.
Bump that difficulty up. Turn ironman on (or play as if it was) and embrace tragedy.

Finishing up my commander bronzeman playthrough. Would like to immediately jump into legend-ironman but the game is constantly freezing or crashing for me. It's annoying AF. Any word from the devs? Is there a patch coming? Did they acknowledge they problems? Something?

i know it's not really their intent but i would fucking love it if they made a game where i could field 8-10 soldiers at once and it was properly balanced for it instead of hackjob balanced for it

Also I miss MECs. Sparks just aren't the same

In the OP it reads that the WotC will integrate to the original XCOM 2.

With this in mind, does it mean that the final mission is exactly the same as in the base game?

a better advent mod and bumping up the squad size is a decent compromise.

this should be fucking illegal

(not my image)

Kinda related, but Deadeye on Reapers is wildly good. I used it more with one Reaper than I did in my entire time with XCOM 2 using snipers. (In retrospect, I question why I ever got it at all.)

Flanking Deadeye shots are the only way to go.

Followed the recommendation of not integrating the dlc
Went into Shen's Last Gift as soon as it opened, with basic weapons and no sergeant whatsoever, not even knowing what it'd involve.

Get to the final floor.

see the final pod

"well.... shit"

either imma have to savescum the fuck outta this thing or go back to the map save and come back later, cuz even with heavy savescumming aint seeing no way to clear the thing without losing at least 2 guys.

Yea it's basically the same game but with various additions sprinkled in. The ending is just slightly different, extra scenes from the new factions basically
