It's really good. Not sure what is gonna top Paramore-After Laughter for best pop album. It never gets old and everyone I've played it for likes it.

Also, I know XXXtentacion is a piece of shit but damn I like his album too.

paramore is good. flower boy is great. science fiction makes me cry. gotta listen to black ken and mogwai and.. uh, there was another one.

Brand New - Science Fiction
Youth League - Second EP
Slowdive - Slowdive
Portugal. The Man - Woodstock
Grandaddy - Last Place

Those are my favorites so far. There are quite a few that I really like, but aren't on par with the above for me. There's still a ton that I haven't heard, unfortunately.

After hearing them on Friday, Kitty's Miami Garden Club and A Deeper Understanding by The War On Drugs are both high up on my list.

A Fever Dream Is AMAZING. EE slugs it outta the park again!

Amazing album. I love that with Everything Everything you listen enjoy their album and then read up about what the songs are actually about and admire their lyrical intricacies.

Good Shot, Good Soldier is sublime.

I'm going to have to amend my list or just disregard it entirely.
A Obituary album came out this year and I just assumed it would be as mediocre or uninteresting as their last several and initially ignored it but Jesus christ I was wrong!

It was hands down the best album of the year for me so far and I just can't see anything else coming up that can dethroned it. It's not only comparable to their best work but in ways occasionally surpasses it!

So...

1) Obituary, Obituary(self titled)

I expect the next Cradle of Filth album to be decently fun shit but I don't think it'll even come close.

That Hoops album is quality. Wasn't feeling it as much as their EP's at first and maybe not the most original take on dream pop, but it's a consistent listen with a handful of standouts that I keep coming back to. Good band with a warm, nostalgic sound.

So now that pretty much all of my albums I've been looking forward to have been released, it's safe to say I've established my top 10 and I'm pretty comfortable with The War on Drugs being number 1. Right now I'm leaning towards this:

1. The War on Drugs
2. Brand New
3. The National
4. LCD Soundysystem
5. Kendrick Lamar
6. Queens of the Stone Age
7. Jason Isbell
8. John Moreland
9. Gang of Youths
10. Grizzly Bear

It's been an incredible year of music! And that War on Drugs album...well that's pretty much a perfect album

Nightmare logic - Power trip.

What a refreshing take on death/thrash. Reminds me of demolition hammer in a lot of ways. I've been out of the metal scene for a while. Any other good recommendations on metal albums that came out this year worth checking out?

Since my last update, the following came out and are making it really hard to keep it a Top 25 list:

- Caligula's Horse: In Contact
- Queens Of The Stone Age: Villains
- The National: Sleep Well Beast
- Leprous: Malina
- The War On Drugs: A Deeper Understanding

Daughter- Music From Before the Storm

Best post-rock album I've heard in a long time

hmm im intrigued, gotta check it out. big fan of instrumental/post-rock (dumb term but you know).

edit: listened to "burn it down" and "numbers"... is this the same band/artist? doesnt sound post-rockish at all.

what do you guys think of the new GY!BE? i dig it but i miss their quiet moments and all the voice samples etc.. i cant fall asleep to their music anymore :( Bosses Hang pt II is great but wayyyy too short.
