To people thinking "why retail? shoulda been eShop", with retail the publisher has money as soon as retailers buy the iniital shipment while with eShop its a month after some actual sales are made. Plus in retail the publisher is in full control of when it is released rather than Nintendo having that control.

Low budget puzzle games (such as this) tend to get it said about them a whole lot more than other games (mainly because the marketplace for them has descended very low in price these days).

The fact including this, we've seen 3 such ones on 3DS recently (Shanghai 3D Cube, Sudoku 3D, Zoo Keeper*) I thought would be getting peoples bellings ringing why publishers would go for retail.
*-I think Tetris can just about cut it as retail on namesake.
