Went well last year with 58 games finished. Far from my best but good enough. This year I hope to finish more since anything lower wouldn't even make a dent in the backlog.

Some rules I have set up for myself:
A game must be played from start to finish at least once during 2015 to count. If I am missing a bunch of cheevos/endings/other stuff in a game that I have beaten before but still don't consider "completed" (going by Backloggery "rules" there), I need to do a new playthrough of the game and not just jump in and grab the last stuff on some old save.
Only games bought before 2015 will count. This is my way of reminding myself that I should focus on the backlog and not add to it. If I still buy something I must play it of course but can't count it here. That should make me buy less and play more!
Only complete seasons count when playing episodic games.

List of games 1-49:
(Games 50-??)

01-01-15 - Game 1: Miasmata - 2 hours for this playthrough
I bought this game in 2013 on GOG, played through it and totally loved it. When my bf got it on Steam during 2014 I really wanted to play it again, especially to get all the achievements (yay for family sharing!). The last two achievements I needed were the "speedrun" ones. I wasn't sure I would be able to do that so easily since the game became horribly buggy with my new video card. It worked flawlessly on my old one so I'm really sad about that. Luckily I managed it on my first try and so my first playthough of a game in 2015 is finished!

01-01-15 - Game 2: A Bird Story - 1 hour
Odd "game". Least interactive game I've ever played I think.
It really doesn't want to be played and it's more like a short film. I thought it was pretty cute and liked my time with it even tho it mostly felt like a teaser for the next game.

01-02-15 - Game 3: Hatoful Boyfriend - 8 hours
Wow. People were not kidding when they said there's more to this game than meets the eye. I didn't like it much at first. It wasn't a bad VN but very predictable with few choices and repeated scenes. Oh, and the bugs! Bugs galore! Then it happened. And I loved it. Can't say more due to spoilers. Highly recommended game. Even if you don't like the first part, go through it. Doesn't take too long.

01-02-15 - Game 4: Hexcells Plus - 7 hours
I breezed through the first game with ease. This one... not to much. It's way harder! Sometimes frustratingly so. Still a really good puzzle game.

01-02-15 - Game 5: Jazzpunk - 2 hours
I didn't actually have much fun with this. It's an interesting game, as in that it's fun to see what the creators have put together. The actual "comedy" wasn't really my taste tho and it was mostly just a "huh, okay... right... yeah"-experience.

01-07-15 - Game 6: Another Code: Two Memories - 8-ish hours perhaps?
I think I expected a slower and more obtuse game since I had only played Hotel Dusk from Cing before. That game was a bit annoying when it came to the puzzles. This was actually too easy. Didn't have to think much at all, mostly just click on stuff and run around. It feels a bit dragged out due to the two main characters not putting two and two together. Every other word in the dialogue is "Ashley" but otherwise it's a quite enjoyable story :p I liked D's story way more than Ashley's tho and I'm glad I got the good ending.

01-11-15 - Game 7: Pokémon FireRed - 65 hours
The first nuzlocke of the year. Happy to be done with it since I quickly realised how boring I think Kanto is. Mostly the same Pokémon on every single route and lots of odd level gaps and jumps. I do love the original 151 mons but seeing Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow and Oddish everywhere gets old really fast.

01-21-15 - Game 8: Hexcells Infinite - 6 hours (main) + 3 hours (infinite mode)
The main game took me one hour less than it took me to complete Plus. Overall I liked this much more than Plus and I don't really know why. It was so much smoother for me. Maybe I was just in a better mood for it or something. Finished the 60 random puzzles too in one sitting. I still see hexagons...

01-27-15 - Game 9: The Walking Dead: Season One - 16-ish hours with some idle time
I noticed my save file was gone and I realised I wanted to play this again before the second season anyway. I didn't like it a lot the first time I played but this time I went into it with a different mindset and played Lee a bit differently. I guess the former made the biggest difference but the latter helped too. I played as
Kenny's friend
all the way through, being a bit asshole-ish at times when I felt I could see why Lee would be.
Like not even try being kind to Larry after he tried to kill Lee.
I was also completely honest and more quiet, not always jumping into the discussions. This made some scenes way better than I remember them from before,
espceially anything involving Kenny in the last episode.

01-28-15 - Game 10: The Walking Dead: Season Two - about 9 hours
I actively disliked the first episode when it came out and didn't really feel like I wanted to play the rest (then). This time it was a bit better but I still dislike everything up to the point
where you meet the cabin group.
As a whole the season has some really high points tho and I liked (or loved to hate) most of the characters a bit better than the ones from the first season.

01-29-15 - Game 11: Koudelka - 20-ish hours?
I have for a long time wanted to get my hands on the Shadow Hearts series, but no luck. So I finally borrowed it from a friend instead. She also sent me Koudelka, a game I hadn't even heard about before, and explained that I just HAD to play that one before Shadow Hearts.
What a fascinating game! I don't know what to say about it actually. It's unique :D
Loved the enemies and voice acting. The canon ending is the best one, I'm glad my friend told me to get it (and how).
Losing against the last boss? What? What a concept! :D

01-30-15 - Game 12: Goat Simulator - 10 hours
I started this to have something "braindead" to play over some time. Seems I underestimated it! Was suprisingly fun to run around and do silly things, especially in the fantastic MMO Sim (the fake chat is superb!) and I had suddenly finished everything.
This is the very first and hopefully last time I play anything like Flappy Bird. GAH!

01-31-15 - Game 13: Downfall - about 3 hours
I have seen a bit of The Cat Lady (made by the same guy) and loved what I saw of it. This game... nah. It's over the top without any finesse. Still interesting to play through to see where he started but it's not even close to TCL. I liked the music tho.

02-03-15 - Game 14: The Wolf Among Us - 15 hours with a few reloads and a bit of idling.
Wow. I had heard so much good about this game and I love Fables (which might be a part of the problem)... and I almost hated this game. I happily played through both seasons of TWD without being too annoyed at the non-choices and stuff. It felt like they at least tried to make the NPCs respond differently to what you did in TWD. It had it's problems but it mostly made some sort of sense. None of that in this game. It really made no sense at all at so many points in the game. It never listened to what Bigby actually said, it really didn't matter. I don't want to talk about this game anymore, it just makes me mad.

03-01-15 - Game 15: Dragon Age: Inquisition - 101 hours on the save I finally finished the game on. 160-ish overall this year
I really wanted to like this game. In the end it's "okay" and nothing more. The world is pretty but way too empty. The antagonist is a joke and the main story is just... meh. The side quests? Oh don't even start. Erk.
But the music is wonderful and I think most of the characters are the best BioWare have made in many years. I love almost everyone in the Inquisition.
The biggest reason I spent a total of about 160 hours on this game is that it works as a "low energy game". I mostly just rode around on my pretty Hart and collected random worthless stuff. It didn't require me to think much and that worked for me during the past month.

03-04-15 - Game 16: LYNE - 20 hours
This was a pretty long puzzle game! I started it in January and finally got through it. It was fun tho. One of those puzzle games where you easily get into the "flow" of it. When I learned to see the patterns it became very relaxing. I think I would have liked it a bit more if I hadn't played it so much during the last days. Spread it out more like I did in the beginning. But ohwell. Still good.

03-04-15 - Game 17: Splice - 2½ hours
Started it up as something to play as I had played LYNE at first, sort of a "now and then" game, but was suddenly half way through it... where the credits are for some reason. Why call half the game the "Epilogue"? Bah. Just kept going since it was so short and suddenly I had yet another finished game. Wasn't impressed by it. Annoying graphics and just not... I dunno. Might have liked it more if I didn't play it right after LYNE, perhaps.

03-05-15 - Game 18: KAMI - 2½ hours
Another short puzzle game! This one I liked a lot! A bit too easy perhaps but oh so beautiful. Really liked the idea. Too bad it wasn't longer.

03-05-15 - Game 19: Never Alone - Almost 3 hours
Aaaand another short game. Much shorter than I thought (and I watched all the little clips too!) but actually just about the perfect lenght for what it was. I really liked that you played a girl even tho the story they got told and based the game on was about a man. Nice change! If the controls had been just a bit better to remove those frustrating spots and odd deaths it would have been great. Now it's "only" good and I'm a bit sad about that. It's such a cute game.

03-05-15 - Game 20: Blackwell Deception - 4 hours for this playthrough
Replayed this with commentary to hear the commentary (duh), get all the cheevos and to refresh my memory for Epiphany. Replayed the previous ones late last year for the same reason. It's just so good, just like the rest of them. And they only got better and better so I hope that's true for Epiphany too.

03-07-15 - Game 21: Blackwell Epiphany - 4½ hours + 2½ hours for commentary playthrough
Sooo... the last game in one of my fav series ever. I'm not even a fan of the genre. Blackwell is just so fantastic. As I said before it just got better and better and this final part is simply wonderful.
Yes I teared up at the end.
Had to replay it immediately to hear the commentary too.

03-10-15 - Game xx: Shelter 2 - 5 hours
Doesn't count since it was bought in 2015
As a huge fan of Shelter I have been waiting for this for a very long time. It's a very different game from the first but I love it more and more for every playthrough. I still prefer the first game slightly but it's close. I played through it three times and filled out the map and think I can call it beaten now. All 12 kittens survived but I had a close call once when I went exploring and couldn't find any food at all for a while.
I later learned to always keep nommies visible and I always killed two rabbits at a time so that all the kittens could eat at once.
Just like the first game it looks amazing and sounds even better.
The wolves are terrifying even when standing on the plateaus where they can't reach you. The sound is just soooo creepy.

03-11-15 - Game 22: Waking Mars - 5 hours
This game started out as a really relaxing experience. Then I made a huge mistake and since I didn't know you can reset progress for a single map I restarted the game. I then played it a bit more carefully and made sure to keep track of everything. This made it a bit less relaxing but I had fun through the whole game. I love the voice acting and the story was interesting all the way through.

03-13-15 - Game 23: Sequence - 10 hours
I bought this game a bunch of years ago when I was still a lurker. I admired Feep for giving the game away and the game sounded cool so I decided to buy it to support him. I didn't click with it. At all. I almost hated it for making me feel so utterly worthless. I even threw it into my "meh" category on Steam and gave up on it.
Until There Came an Echo. I got that game from Feep for free (so fucking amazing of you!) and felt I really had to give Sequence another chance. I'm SO happy I did that. Suddenly I just loved it all. Went for all achievements and had a blast through the whole game. Recommending it to everyone, even the "musically challenged" :D

03-13-15 - Game 24: Long Live the Queen - 4 hours for these playthroughs
Went though my "completed" category on Steam to uninstall all games in there and when I clicked on this game I realised there were cheevos I didn't have. I was very confused since I had gotten all endings, deaths and cheevos before. Then I saw the recent update! :D A couple more cheevos to collect and lots of great improvements. I wholeheartedly recommended the game before and now it's even better. Had so much fun going through it 6 times to find all the new stuff :D

03-14-15 - Game 25: Cinders - 7 hours
I liked my first playthough of this VN. It looks great, the writing is okay, the characters are interesting and I like that the goal isn't to date someone but to live whatever life you want. I didn't really like the second playthrough because so many scenes were identical. I of course started to use the "skip button" but the thing is that it stops skipping (so you have to press it again) all the time. I then played it a third time and tried to make all the choices different to see if that was the problem but the scenes still didn't change much at all. Some new ones of course since I went to other places with other people, but the ones where I just chose other things to say had maybe a couple different lines and then it was back to the same thing as the first and second one. And there is a lot of text in this one (especially coming from LLtQ, heh).
The game has four endings with a bunch of variants, and variants of those depending on love interest and "advisor" but I wouldn't recommend even four playthroughs unless you don't mind seeing basically the same things up until the end. One playthrough I can recommend tho, maybe two if you play them completely different. It's worth reading even with these "problems".

03-17-15 - Game xx: Dying Light - 50 hours
Doesn't count since it was bought in 2015
Oh It's just insanely fun in so many ways. Played co-op from start to finish. Really liked the nights in the beginning! Loved having to hide and flee from the horrible monster thingies! We never used the sleep option, always trying to be out as much as possible to gather experience. Later, when we became overpowered as hell, it was still fun! It could still go wrong if we were swarmed or so. It was tense in just the right way. The day time was fun too since we liked most missions and had a blast parkouring through the city. I really didn't like Dead Island but this game is one of my favs from the latest years. It's just fantastic. Looking forward to play through it again in hard mode sometime.

03-29-15 - Game 26: Rogue Legacy - 28 hours
It's one of those "just one more try" games for me. Even when I didn't really feel like playing something I could start this up and just farm a bit. I liked the look of it and loved some of the music. I liked most of the classes and the random traits thing was really fun. The challenge level was perfect, I realise now. Just enough to make me feel good about making it through something but without making me mad/annoyed when I couldn't. It took me 93 children to get to the end and I think I'll save this one in the "gonna try to 100 % later" list.

03-30-15 - Game 27: Botanicula - 2 hours for this playthrough
This is from the above mentioned list. I played through it at release and it didn't click with me at all. Wasn't charmed much by it, and sadly that hasn't changed like I hoped it would. I saved it in the list since it's an easy 100 % game and I was hoping I would like it more the second time I played it. But nope, still not a fan. Got my cheevos tho.

03-30-15 - Game 28: Finding Teddy - 2 hours + almost 2 hours for second playthrough
Another "easy 100 %" form some list I got somewhere. I... don't agree. Or, yes it is "easy" but it's so tedious and boring. It's a pretty little game and it has some nice ideas but the "gameplay" of running back and forth to click on stuff in the right order made me want to quit pretty fast. The second playthough was just torture actually, why did I even finish it? Gah.

04-03-15 - Game 29: DeathSpank - 8 hours
Had heard quite a lot about this game before finally playing it now. It has some not-so-good moments but most of it is great. I loved (most of) the jokes and overall sillyness. The hack-and-slash gameplay wasn't perfect but worked well enough. Hated the last boss but that's not unusual for me :p

04-04-15 - Game 30: Lilly Looking Through - 2 hours
Pretty boring game, sadly. Also very slow. It's cute and all but the "puzzles" are either too basic or too much trial and error. It's also odd that you sometimes do stuff with the pointer and sometimes the character has to go all over the screen to do the same type of stuff. I liked the goggle thing tho and the environments are great.

04-08-15 - Game 31: The Room - 2 hours
I would have probably liked this more if I had played it on my phone since I kept thinking "oh yeah, touch screen" when dragging stuff around. :p Love the look they gave it on PC tho, it's extremely pretty to look at. Liked the beginning more than the end, but it was okay all the way through.

04-17-15 - Game 32: Dark Souls - 40 + 55 hours
Started a character together with bf, playing pass-the-controller style (due to me being afraid of the bosses so it felt good to let him handle some :D) and semi-blind. Got stuck at O&S after 40 hours with a crappy character, crappy gear and no motivation to continue since we wanted to kill O first. Figured we could handle a few invasions while co-op-ing and started separate characters instead. Both had a blast even when co-op didn't work properly or when we didn't bother going human for a couple of bosses. I played a super fast Dex-character and he played the tankiest tank possible. I had a bunch of "banging head against wall" moments of pure frustration (since I have no patience at all) but I mostly enjoyed the journey. I was afraid of the bosses when we started but the second time through I got most of them on my first try and the frustrating moments were just some of the normal enemies (mostly groups, grr). Felt very strange when it was over and I'll miss it. Don't want to play the second one tho.

04-18-15 - Game 33: Papo & Yo - 3½ hours this playthrough
Played through this once a couple of years ago. Remembered it as being a bit annoying at times but mostly good. Had some achievements left to grab. I had forgotten more about this game than I realised and it just felt... obnoxious at times, especially when I had to figure out where all the hats were at the same time as trying to remember/figure out the puzzles. It's still a game I'd recommend due to the uniqueness tho, especially when not trying to get the cheevos :p

04-18-15 - Game 34: Time Mysteries: Inheritance - 3 hours
Had never played a Hidden Object game before and had no idea what to expect. I really liked it! It wasn't exactly a pretty game or anything. The HO scenes were the best part of the game, the story and more "classic" sort of adventure game stuff wasn't great. Had fun!

04-20-15 - Game 35: Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek - 5 hours
Oooh, this one was pretty! Especially coming from the last one. HO scenes were still great and the story was actually pretty insteresting this time. Sad to say that I got frustrated over and over again due to the many areas, the lack of any sort of map and frequent need to run around to look for sparkles in basically random places.

04-20-15 - Game 36: Time Mysteries: The Ancient Spectres - 5 hours
Back to the less interesting time travel stuff we go. This time I liked it more tho! Mostly because it was fun to see the same areas in different times. This one was the best so far thanks to the great map showing exactly where there was stuff to do.

05-06-15 - Game 37: Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart - 5 hours
Bad first impression but it grew on me. Liked the art but not as much as I liked the first Enigmatis. Solid one.

05-06-15 - Game 38: Dark Arcana: The Carnival - 6 hours
Not as pretty as the previous one, but not bad. Interesting setting. Also a solid one.

05-07-15 - Game 39: Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden - 5 hours
Ooooh, I liked this one a lot. Yes, Eden is basically Rapture but it's not done in a bad "lets copy everything" way. It has it's own charm too. Not a very good story but it works.

05-08-15 - Game 40: Time Mysteries: The Final Enigma - 2½ hours
Ugh. The mechanics from the second one, which I liked, but it still felt more like the first and I didn't like it much.

05-08-15 - Game 41: 9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek - 2½ hours
Not made by Artifex Mundi, and it shows. It's okay but it feels much older than the ones released around it. Didn't like the story or graphics much.

05-09-15 - Game 42: Nightmares from the Deep: The Siren`s Call - 5 hours
Great setting just like the first game. Story was a bit better. Solid game.

05-09-15 - Game 43: Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink - 2½ hours
Odd one. Not as pretty or interesting as others but it works.

05-10-15 - Game 44: Enigmatis: The Mists of Ravenwood - 4 hours
Ooooooooh. This one was really great. I got some Alan Wake vibes. The protagonist being a bit... stupid regarding one thing bothered me a bit but whatevs. It's great.

05-11-15 - Game 45: Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride - 6 hours
This one is also great. Pretty and with a story that I liked.

05-12-15 - Game 46: Nightmares from the Deep: Davy Jones - 4 hours
Ugh. It's still a pretty setting, like all Nightmare ones, but the story is way worse. Still works but... yeh.

05-13-15 - Game 47: Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan - 3 hours
Such a disappointment after the great first Grim Legends. It's not as pretty, not as interesting. Meh.

05-14-15 - Game 48: Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior - 2 hours
Wanted something "braindead" to play. This was too braindead.

05-16-15 - Game 49: Eversion - 1½ hours this playthrough
Played this one some years ago but didn't finish the cheevo hunt. Felt it was good enough to play through again for the last bunch of cheevos I had left. Had to replay the whole game, gather gems and all since my save file was gone. Almost as fun as the first time through.

Game 1: The Wolf Among Us - 8 hours
The game shines where it needs to. The story, voice acting and characters are all superb. The moral dilemmas along the way are gripping and I am constantly second guessing my self. The art style has a neon drenched noir look to it which is awesome. The game play is the same as all telltale games at the core of which is the dialog options which are very well done. Ultimately your choices will not change the story that much but the ride is still enjoyable despite being linear.

Game 2: Vanquish - 8 hours
Another incredible action game from Platinum and Shinji Mikami. This game starts at 11 and only gets higher. Its easy to understand why it is regarded as the best third person shooter of the generation. The gameplay is fast and brutal. The weapons are all satisfying to use and the mobility is very much appreciated. The enemy design are all great especially the boss fights. There are some awesome set piece moments, some scripted but also some organically created by the players. The combat has a lot of depth and playing around with the different melee attacks is really fun. The upgrade system encourages perfectionist playthroughs although there isn't much reason to experiment with the different weapons unless just for style points.

Game 3: Luftrausers - 6 hours
Really fun and simple game but also very challenging. The music is really damn good and the way it changes is also very impressive. There is a lot of variety to customizing your plane which changes the gameplay drastically. This is a great game to play while listening to podcasts.

Game 4: Child of Light - 12 hours
I definitely underestimated this game. I expected the gameplay to much simpler but it I was surprised to find a very well crafted "JRPG". The combat system is fairly robust with enough depth and challenge to make it work. Unlike traditional JRPGs however there is is little to no grinding. Of course that means the play time is much shorter but I prefer quality over quantity any day. It is similar to The Stick of Truth in that regard and I hope Japanese developers pick up on that trend. Everything else about the game is also incredibly well done. The visuals are fantastic with some breathtaking background art and a beautiful aesthetic. The game pulls of the "water color storybook" style really well. The music is melodic, beautiful and a perfect fit for the game overall. I feel the story is purposefully made to be a typical fairy tale; Light vs dark, friendship vs tyranny.

Game 5: Infamous First Light - 6 hours
Its alright. The open world is a bit empty but they recreated Seattle pretty well. The powers are fun and the missions are ok. The lighting and graphics overall is stellar. I really liked Fetch as a character and her arc to becoming a villain. Nothing about it really stood out and wowed me unfortunately however it is still a solid well-rounded game. To me this feels like the gaming equivalent of mashed potatoes. I like it and it passes the time but it is quite forgettable.

Game 6: Monument Valley - 3 hours
A mostly simple puzzle game that looks and sounds very pretty. The game plays around with prospective in Escher-like ways and all the level art and animation is superb. Excluding the final level, most of the game kinda plays itself and you just have to give it nudge every now and then. However The Forgotten Shore expansion does bring in some challenge which gives you some "eureka" moments while solving the puzzles. Overall the game oozes quality and polish, something the mobile market severely lacks.

Game 7: Heroes of the Storm - 6 hours
Pretty good MOBA-lite. Not a huge learning curve unlike the other games in the genre. Matches are short between 15-20 minuets which I appreciate.

Game 8: Ridiculous Fishing - 3 hours
Fun, simple yet crazy mobile game. Great music, art and design. Good sense of humor with a very touching ending. Another awesome game from Vlambeer.

Game 9: Grim Fandango Remasterd - 10 hours
I don't think I figured out a single puzzle by myself. Either I am really dumb or the game is too cryptic. Nevertheless, I loved a lot about this game. The writing and humor is incredible. I loved going through every bit of dialogue. I loved all the characters and scenarios they were thrown in. The setting is really creative and well realized. The music and art style is top notch. Parts of the game is still a little clunky which is disappointing to see. The cut scenes were low quality and the models and the background art looked dated. They really should be fixing those bugs and issues for a "remaster". Ultimately the story and the characters is what makes this game truly remarkable and memorable.

Game 10: Crimzon Clover World Ignition - 3 hours
Challenging and fun shoot'em up game. Double break mode is really satisfying to use.

Game 11: Valiant Hearts The Great War - 6 hours
The best educational game I have ever played. I learned a lot about the WWI while also enjoying a decent game. The game does a good job of portraying some of the horrors of war while still being somewhat lighthearted. The UbiArt engine is capable of some amazing visuals as parts of the game were absolutely gorgeous. The story had some very touching moments and the music was fantastic. However all the puzzles were too simple and parts of the game were a little boring.

Game 12: Gravity Ghost - 3 hours
A unique puzzle platformer with some very neat mechanics. It is a very surreal game yet also very grounded.

Game 13: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D - 20 hours
Incredible game. I think I like it more than Ocarina. The game is filled with creativity and quality. The premise is the best of any Zelda game. There are some really dark themes in the game and it handles them in both a mature and wholesome way. A true masterpiece.

Game 14: League of Legends - 10 hours
Back to playing more League of Legends after a 2 year long hiatus. There has been a lot of changes so it feels fresh. Thankfully the EU servers have much better stability now.

Game 15: Snatcher - 8 hours
A gripping cyberpunk mystery. This is one of Kojima's lesser known games and I am glad I tried it out. The game is a mixture of visual novel, point and click adventure and light-gun shooter. Compared to the other two adventure games I played this year, this one had the perfect difficulty for puzzles. Not too easy (The Wolf among us) to make me feel disconnected from the game and not too difficult (Grim Fandango) to constantly make me turn to a walkthrough. The game gave me enough options and freedom to make feel like I was the one conducting the investigation yet all the puzzles made logical sense so solving them felt satisfying. Nevertheless, the game truly shines with the narrative. The writing carries with it the usual Kojima flair; heady philosophical themes, emotional moments balanced by comical antics, tasteful fourth wall breaking and references to western media. The game wears it's Blade Runner homage with pride but the story is different enough to make it feel like it's own thing. The characters are all brilliant but the voice acting is distractingly bad. The art and music is overall superb and presents a cool Noir/Sci-Fi atmosphere. There is also a smidgen of fan service, nothing too crude but enough to make things a little exciting. The game is certainty a relic of the 90's as I don't see games or even anime like this getting made in the present. The story is very adult yet it isn't gritty. There is a sense of romanticism about the whole game which juxtaposes the mature elements without causing a noticeable contrast. The whole game flows really well with the pacing and the structure. I highly recommend this game to Kojima fans and Sci-fi fans.

Game 16: There Came an Echo - 4 hours
The premise and execution of the story is brilliant. It takes one of my favourite sci-fi ideas and takes it in a unique direction. The characters are all great and voiced by a star-studded cast. The environment art is incredible with a great aesthetic. The gameplay is focused around voice controls and this game is the best execution of that mechanic. The strategy aspect is a little shallow but given the game is fully voice controlled, making it too difficult would make it frustrating. Overall a great game.

Game 17: Tormentum Dark Sorrow - 4 hours
The most metal puzzle game I have ever played. The art style oozes quality and macabre. It is very reminiscent of Beksiński and Geiger (without the penises). The story is also incredibly grim to go along with the visuals. It plays like a point and click adventure with a bunch of puzzles and a few moral choices
that determine the ending
. The puzzles are mostly well done with a couple that made no sense, at least to me.

Game 18: Strider 2014 - 7 hours
This is one of those no bullshit type games. Within 3 seconds of selecting Start Game you are straight into the action, slicing dudes up and taking on an entire tyrannical nation. No cutscenes, setup or briefing. There is no moral grey here; it's just you, the elite Strider Hiryu, vs the evil-doers of Kazakh. The best part, however, is the game's controls. It immediately feels satisfying to run, jump and slice your foes. Through usual metroidvania fashion, you explore, gain new abilities, become more powerful and take on stronger baddies. Once you have unlocked your full arsenal, you becoming an unstoppable killing machine as the game gives you a ton of mobility and combat options. The levels are well crafted and there is a ton of enemy variety to keep the game fresh from start to finish. The boss fights are all moderately challenging and satisfying to beat. The game has very crisp visuals and Strider's visual design is excellent. The animation work also deserves a special mention. The way Strider looks and moves is very cool. The music is catchy and invigorating which is a perfect fit for the game's high octane action. This game is now easily one of my favorite metroidvanias.

Game 19: Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - 8 hours
Pulpy. Brutal. Violence. The sequel to the 80's inspired break-neck speed action game does not disappoint. It builds on the original in many ways. Bigger levels, more enemy variety, more masks, more characters and an even more convoluted story. The trademark challenge and awesome music is also here. Somehow they made the soundtrack even better than the original which is a tremendous feat. Infinitely satisfying in every way, the game taps into your inner primal nature as you complete levels with perfectly choreographed grace. What ever Dennaton Games has planned next, I am already excited.

Game 20: Counterspy - 5 hours
A cool stealth action game about a cool spy set during the cool cold war.

Game 21: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! - 10 hours
A fantastic game and a fantastic remake. Managed to save all 299 Mudokons. I loved the design of characters, the creatures and the bizarre but self-consistent world of Odd. There are some fantastic environment design and set pieces. The puzzles are all really satisfying to beat and the story is really clever and charming.

Game 22: Diablo III - 25 hours
Excellent game with a ton of content and quality. Played as a demon hunter as it made the most sense given the story of the game. The game plays great with a controller, better than mouse and keyboard IMO. The art style is incredible and the game is gorgeous throughout.

Game 23: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - 8 hours
Great expansion to an already great game. It was nice to see the conclusion to some of the character's stories.

Game 24: Bloodborne - 33 hours
This is by far my favorite Miyazaki game. It just about beats out Dark Souls with the hyper aggressive and fast combat. I love the dashing and parrying mechanics and the way the game is built around it. Every single boss fight ended with adrenaline coursing through my veins due to the intense fast action. The level designs are labyrinthine and massive and exploring every single area is an absolute joy. The setting and lore is also miles ahead of the previous Souls games IMO. I also deeply appreciated the Lovecraftian elements in the game. The weekend it came out I binged on the game so hard, stopping only to eat and sleep. Bloodborne is looking like a forerunners for the game of the year 2015.

Game 25: Broken Age - 10 hours
Top notch writing and humor as expected from Tim Schafer. The characters are all superb and memorable; knife bot, talking tree and Merek being my favourite. Music and art is fantastic through out. The puzzles in act 2 were much more harder than the puzzles in act 1. The character switching mechanic was much more substantial in the second part of the game which made the game feel like a cohesive whole instead of the "two games in one" style of the first half. I think this system really made the game stand out from other adventure games, while the puzzles were just as ingenious and mind bending as those old games. Broken Age truly innovates while also being faithful to what made adventure games special in the past. Even if some of it is frustrating and makes you go "how hell was I supposed to figure that out" but that is simply the charm of adventure games.

Game 26: Axiom Verge - 17 hours
One of the best metroidvanias I have ever played. Hats off to Tom Happ for single-handedly recreating the feel and wonder of Super Metroid while also creating something that feels totally unique. The gameplay is superb with a staggering amount of options given to the player. The abilities you uncover are all very surprising and interesting. The level design, including all the secrets, and enemy/boss design are all impeccable. The setting and narrative is very creative, blurring the lines between sci-fi, religious mythos and high fantasy. Axiom Verge is one of the greatest feats of game development this year.

Game 27: Titan Souls - 4 hours
I don't know if I like this game or not. Most of the time playing it I was very frustrated. However, after getting the killing blow on a boss there is an immense amount of satisfaction. At it's core this is a puzzle game with a very high execution barrier. You have one arrow, the bosses have one health and you have one health. Every boss has a trick to beating them and once you figure it out it's all about the execution. I would liken this game as a 2D Shadow of the Colossus but it lacks the wonder of SotC. There is something lacking about this game which makes it feel kinda hollow.

Game 28: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 7 hours
What this game lacks in content it makes up for in game feel. The controls feel incredibly tight and it really helps the frame rate is a solid 60. There is only one map but it is designed very well. It's fun to play around with the enemy AI and discover all the secrets and Easter eggs. More than anything this makes me very exited for what is to come in the Phantom Pain.

Game 29: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 80 hours
Amazing, incredible game. This is one of the best written games I have ever played. The themes, the characters and plot are all amazing. Can't really say much that hasn't already been said. Suffice it to say that I truly enjoyed this game.

Game 30: Ico - 6 hours
The long awaited re-announcement of The Last Guardian motivated me to go back and finish this game. I am really glad I did and now I am even more exited for TLG.

Game 31: Wolfenstein: The New Order - 15 hours
I did not expect how awesome Blazkowicz's character is in this game. What used to be just a face is now a brooding poet. Of course the game itself is also amazing. The gun play is satisfying and fun. The upgrade system is also neat. Tying perks behind achievements is good way to incentivize more audacious play styles. Overall one of the better FPS games I have played in the last decade.

Game 32: Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition - 12 hours
Completed the Vergil campaign. There is so much I lover about this game. The vast amount of options given to the player makes the combat so expressive and spectacular. The style of the music, art and characters are so unique and lovable. But then we have the dice levels and platforming sections that really damper what is otherwise a near perfect game.

Game 33: Alien: Isolation - 12 hours
Gorgeous looking game. They really nailed the aesthetic of the Alien movies. Gameplay wise it felt a little lacking however.

Game 34: Rocket League - 10 hours
The Beautiful Game.

Game 35: Styx: Master of Shadows - 25 hours
A superb hardcore stealth game. The levels are huge with multiple paths. You are given a bunch of tools to make your way through the game. The jumping controls can be janky and frustrating at times.

Game 36: Civilization V - 30 hours
This is the first time I actually played the game to completion. Got the domination victory with Genghis Khan riding an atomic bomb.

Game 37: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - 70 hours
Bravo Kojima, bravo.

Game 38: Batman: Arkham Knight - 30 hours
A fantastic ending to a fantastic trilogy.

Game 39: Grow Home - 3 hours
Fun tree-hugging simulator.

Game 40: Destiny - 15 hours
I have no time to explain why I have no time to explain this game.

Game 41: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - 134 hours
I am the one to get it done.

Game 1: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - 6:24 - COMPLETED
This was one of my most anticipated games of last year due to me falling in love with the few levels included in 3D World. It's basically what you'd expect from those levels, but with some nice twists like the speed pad levels. I actually wish that there were more of those along with those where you touch the stages to open up pathways. Still. I loved it and it's definitely one of my favorite games from last year. Highly recommended to those that enjoyed the 3D World levels.

Game 2: Golden Axe - :50 COMPLETED
This is the old Genesis/arcade classic rather than the last gen reboot. A few years ago there was a bunch of Sega classics that were given away on Plus, so i'm finally getting around to playing them. This certainly isn't my first time completing GA as completed it more times than I remember in coop back when it was released on the Genesis. But it's still just as fun today as it was then. One of my favorite games ever, and definitely one of the best beat 'em ups ever made.

Game 3: Altered Beast - :40 COMPLETED
Another one of the Genesis Plus titles. Despite my love of BEU's, this is the first time that i've ever played AB. I'm not sure why it took me so long, particularly because I played pretty much every BEU I could find during the Genesis/SNES era. Anyway. you can definitely tell that it's one of the very early BEU's from Sega as the combat is very simple combat to Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. You're mainly searching for the white wolves on each stage to kill them so you can get the spirit balls that allows you to transform into that stages beast. You get a new (although still limited) set of moves with each beast. But it adds a nice bit of variety to the game. Overall the game is pretty enjoyable, but like I said, it's certainly a very early representation of the genre.

Game 4: Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- - 15:00 - COMPLETED
Completed Arcade mode with all characters, Story mode, Tutorial, and 300 Challenges missions (enough to unlock the Soloist trophy). I really think Tekken 3 was the last time that I enjoyed a fighting game as much as Xrd. It has what i'd say is now the gold standard for fighters when it comes to Tutorials. It walks you through everything and even teaches you when you should do certain things like Roman Cancels and Blitz Shields, instead of just putting some inputs on screen like many Tutorials. There's no actual gameplay in the story mode. It's basically split up into 10 sections (with an A and B part) and plays out like an anime. Music is what you'd expect from the series, which means lot of heavy metal (which is a good thing). And the visuals are the best that i've seen from this generation. Lots of games have been striving to get tot he point where you can't tell the difference between 2D and 3D, but this is the first game that really manages to pull it off. Overall, everything just feels so amazingly polished.

Game 5: Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition - 12:00 COMPLETED
Completed the campaign and Duke Goes to DC. I was planning to complete the other DLC chapters, but the game appears to be bugged. I don't mind as I really wasn't enjoying it much and pretty much forced myself through the main campaign. I can understand why it was so innovative back in the day, and the level design is still solid even today. But you can see with it where FPS games of the 90's started to get the "keycard, fight, keycard, fight" stereotype. Similarly to current FPS are seen as being "setpiece, fight, setpiece, fight". It wasn't a bad game, but just not something that i'd be interested in playing again.

Game 6: Dungeons & Dragons - Shadow over Mystara - :50 COMPLETED
I'm listing this before Tower of Doom because I accidentally played them out of sequence since I didn't realize that you could hit select to swap to ToD. I'd been wanting to play these games ever since learning that Kamitani worked on them. They were never in my local arcades, so I never got a chance to play them. What really stands out most about it is the amount of depth it has for a beat 'em up in the early 90's. You level up your characters, you can carry multiple weapons (daggers, hammers, oils for fire etc) at a time that you can switch to on the fly instead of just using them right away like in most BEU's. The combat in general is also surprisingly varied. You're also at times given a chance to take different paths to your end goal, which adds to the replayability.

Game 7: Dungeons & Dragons - Tower of Doom - 1:00 COMPLETED
For the most part everything I said about SoM applies to this game. Both are absolutely worth playing if you're interested in the genre.

Game 8: Batman: Arkham Asylum - 12:00 - COMPLETED
I've already completed City and Origins. I thought they were good games, but the open world aspect of them always rubbed me the wrong way. I just don't think the actual world is all that fun to explore. The games seemed to shine most whenever you finally made it to the next story area of the game. So i've been looking forward to finally getting around to Asylum since I knew that it had more of a hubworld feel than an open world. It gets rid of all the needless wondering around to find your next location since everything is everything is relatively close together. I think this gives the game a much better flow to it than City or Origins. I'll still be playing Knight, but i'm not expecting to enjoy it anywhere near as much as Asylum since they seem to really be going all out with the open world this time. But maybe they'll finally get it right rather than it just feeling like i'm forcing myself through those sections.

Game 9: Prototype 2 - 15:00 - COMPLETED
This is a game that's largely fun because the combat is so enjoyable. The world itself i'd compare to something like Saints Row, in the sense that it's not particularly fun to explore. So everything falls back onto the gameplay to be enjoyable. And in this case it really is, particularly once you've managed to acquire enough upgrades. The major downside to it all is that the mission design is pretty repetitive. It seems to mostly revolve around consuming (taking their identity) a specific target to get key details before going to an area where you just beat the crap out of everything. And then you do over and over. One thing that did stand out to me in a positive way as the amount of NPC's on the streets. Whether it be the army, pedestrians or mutants, the streets always seem to be full of characters. Certainly a lot more than you see in your average open world games.

Game 10: Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed - 18:00 - COMPLETED
This was a very pleasant surprise for me. I'd been looking forward to playing it, but I really wasn't sure about how much i'd enjoy it. But it's been one of the most enjoyable and unique games that i've played in some time. The basic premise is that you're fighting against Synthisters, who are basically vampires. The way you kill them is by stripping them. You have low, medium, and high attacks and once clothing starts blinking you strip off their clothes. It's definitely pervy, but i've seen some say that it's kinda in an innocent type of way, and I agree with that. You're stripping people from both sexes as well. The combat itself is relatively simple, but varied due to the low, medium, high attacks and the fact that weapons completely change the way you attack. You'll find everything to boxing gloves, nightsticks, to swords. Each have their own unique attack animations. The world itself is broken into several small sections, but the load times, at least on the PS4, are so short that it really isn't bothersome. You can also select the specific area that you want to go to form the map, and even jump to the next specific story scene from there as well. There's also a leveling system as well as an upgrade system. Leveling happens really fast, it doesn't seem like youneed many EXP no matter the level you're about to reach. And your sister handles the upgrading. It's relatively simple, but works well. You select which weapon you want to upgrade and combine it with other weapons of its type, like a one handed weapon would be combined with other one handed weapons and the same for two handed weapons.

Game 11: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - 15:00 - COMPLETED
This is actually the first Sly game that i've completed. There are five episodes (six if you include the Prologue) based on different places around the world and in different time periods. Episodes take place everywhere from Japan to the Ice Age. While it's billed as a platformer, but it feels more like an action adventure game. What platforming there is in the game isn't really challenging in the same way a Mario game is. It's also made easier by the fact that you press circle to "stick" to platforms, so you don't even have to be precise through many sections. Which isn't really a big deal as long as you aren't really expecting a platforming that similar to Mario. The meat of the game is generally much more action and objective based. There's also no "collect X number of objects to unlock a level" to unlock a level. The level is fully unlocked right away and from there it's just about completing your objectives. There's a good amount of gameplay variety since with each new location you'll unlock a new character who has their own unique abilities. Sly will also gain costumes in each level that'll also grant him unique abilities. And then you of course have the three main cast members. Sly for stealth and platforming, Bentley for hacking and gadgets, and Murray for bashing through everything. Although Bentley's hacking is probably the least enjoyable part of the game, at least for me. The consist of a mediocre SHMUP, a twin stick shooter, and an absolutely obnoxious SixAxis controlled game where you navigate a ball to its goal. It's just another reminder of how happy I am that we're long past the point of motion controls being pushed into games. But those are few and far between, and the rest of the game is quite enjoyable.

Game 12: Vanquish - 7:30 - COMPLETED
Simply one of the greatest TPS ever made. Fantastic weapon and enemy variety. And some genuinely great boss fights. Shooters in general, whether they be first or third person, have really been lacking in this area in recent years. It seems far too common for shooters nowadays to treat boss fights as an afterthought. Something more or less there to help advance the story. I even enjoyed the now overused (in gaming) bullet time mode, although this is likely because it was coupled with the boosting mechanics. So you could be in bullet time while you were boosting around a level killing enemies.

Game 13: Thomas Was Alone - 5:00 - COMPLETED
A surprisingly relaxing 2D puzzle/platformer. You play as several shapes, all of which have their own set of platforming mechanics. Some can double jump, others have the ability to jump higher, and some can float. Since you're more often that not grouped together with other blocks, it means that all of their mechanics will have to be used together to get through each level. There aren't any enemies, so your only goal is to get the different shapes to an outline that matches their shape. Even though I say it's not frustrating, you will likely end up dying a lot. There's even a trophy for dying 100 times, which you'll almost certainly get on your first playthrough. But that's mostly because there are 100 levels and because you die instantly if you water (if you aren't a shape that can float), a spikes etc. Like I said at the start, it's a good game for those times that you just want to kick back and enjoy a game without being frustrated. And you should easily complete it in a single sitting as well.

Game 14: Quantum Conundrum - 8:00 - COMPLETED
This is a puzzle game from one of the co-creators of Portal. And the similarities are rather obvious. The first is that you play a silent protagonist that's lead through a mansion by his uncle. The other is that there are no enemies, and this time around you don't even have a gun, instead you have a glove. That glove allows you to control different dimensions. These are all mapped to the shoulder buttons. There are four in total, heavy, fluffy, reverse, and slow motion. You're moving objects like safes, furniture, cardboard boxes etc. around instead of shooting gels like in Portal. So, you might need to do something like turning a safe fluffy so that you can pick it up, or use reverse so that you can ride that safe to a higher ledge. The puzzles are really well designed, much like in Portal. There also seems to be more of an emphasis on platforming in this game. I played the PS3 version and the general performance can be rough. There's a decent amount of slowdown and tearing. But oddly enough it doesn't really seem prevalent while you're doing the puzzles. It mainly seems to occur during the sections where you're going from one puzzle room to the next. The biggest knock against it is really that the story isn't anywhere near as interesting as Portal. And it's just not funny even though it tries really hard to be. I guess that just shows how important hat aspect was to Portal's success. Because aside from that the puzzle quality between the two are pretty even.

Game 15: Dragon Age Inquisition - 65:32 - COMPLETED
Being up front, this is the first western RPG i've ever completed (unless you include Diablo games or games similar to it). It's not the first that i've played, but i've honestly ended up losing interest in them or just hating the battle system so much that I just couldn't push my way through it. Which leads me to my first point, I found the battle system to be serviceable. I played as a Rogue, which meant that I mostly sat back holding R2 while switching through other skills when they became available. It's not great, but it wasn't so bad that I wanted to stop playing. While I could've tried other classes by simply switching to them during battle, I never did as I only swapped to them whenever they were needed for puzzles. The only time the battle system starts to really drag is when you're in a boss fight or against dragons. They're basically damage sponges, and they can cast a barrier on themselves that you have to break down before you can start to damage them again. So that can get fairly boring. But there aren't too many of them so, it's not much of a flaw. The world map allows you to select from a variety of areas, some large, some small. But it's not a traditional open world game where everything is connected. But there are some fairly large areas in the game that are field with side quests. As many have said, the side quests definitely have a MMO vibe. Go there get this, kill this batch of enemies, find this person or item etc. etc. So, whether or not you enjoy them will depend on your tolerance for quests in that style. I've never really been bothered by them, but I know others aren't too high on them. There are quests that are specific to characters in your Inquisition. Those sometimes follow the same vibe as standard sidequests, but they're more interesting in the end since it's tied to story. They're also how you complete your romance options. The real meat is of course in the main quests. There you'll find a lot more unique puzzles and general mission variety. With that said, I honestly felt like the actual main quest was fairly short. While I played for nearly 66 hours, id say probably 50 or so of that was simply doing things outside of the main quest. Whether it be grinding (I ended up at level 22), looking for crafting material, working on romance options (I went with Josephine), or working side/character quests. You also need to do things outside of main questing to boost your Power level, which is how you unlock new areas on the map. So most of your time, unless you play far longer than it takes to complete the game, will most likely involve doing things other than the main storyline quests. Still. I really enjoyed the game.

Game 16: God of War - 8:34:16 - COMPLETED
I've already completed the two GoW PS3 titles, but i'd never got around to completing the PS2 entries since I always ended up getting distracted by other games. I think what stands out to me most after completing it is that difference in scale compared to the PS3 entries. Obviously the difference in power is going to make a substantial difference, and i've played around with GoW2 and seen the trailers so I know that it ramps things up in that area. You could tell that they were just getting things started. Another thing that stood out was the boss fights. The series is now known for large scale fights, but for the most part the boss fights were enemies that would be common foes in later entries. There were still large scale fights, but they felt few and far between. But I think that actually helped them have a bigger impact when you finally reached one. It also seemed like this entry leaned heavier on the puzzle and exploration side of things compared to the later entries. There's still a ton of fighting, but puzzles seemed to be spread out everywhere. The combat felt more or less like you'd expect from the first time a developer dipped their toes into the character action pool. It's enjoyable but it's obviously been improved on quite a bit since then. Overall, while I can definitely understand why some fans view this as the best entry in the series, I still prefer GoW3.

Game 17: The Order: 1886 - 8:30 - COMPLETED
I'm a sucker for linear/cinematic games. They can obviously go horribly wrong (the mainline Battlefield games are a good example of that), but if you can get them right then I think they're a ton of fun. And that's where I feel TO sits. It's actually kinda different compared to other sin the sense that while it's cinematic, there really aren't many Uncharted or CoD-style set pieces to be found. Instead the gameplay is comprised of very tight shooting sequences. Which isn't a bad thing since the gunplay is fantastic. The early demos of the game had a rather obvious lack of enemy feedback from the weapons. Pistols didn't really cause them to flinch or anything, they just kept coming forward or kept shooting if they were in cover. Now everything will rock enemies. Even a small handgun. And it may have the most satisfying shotguns in gaming. They simply rip enemies apart and send them flying across a room if you get an upclose shot. The science weapons are quite nice too, although there are likely fewer of those that many would've hoped. Getting back to the linear bit, it's about as linear as you'd expect from it. If you're looking for collectibles then you'll find them in side rooms along your main path or maybe on a different path after you've done something, but the actual core path is always the same. There's one way through the game. The voice acting is great, up there with what you'd expect to see in a ND game. The story also does its job and making you want to see what's going to happen in a sequel. And it'd be hard to talk about TO without the visuals, they're definitely the best that i've seen in a game so far. Last but not least, i'd like to mention just how polished this game is. In a generation that's been very rocky in terms of polished titles, it's nice to see a game with a level of polish that you'd expect from a final release of a game. This feels like something Nintendo would release in terms of polish. The framerate doesn't hitch, there are barely any graphical glitches, and most importantly, the game works like it's supposed to.

Game 18: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - 6:03 - COMPLETED
This game is played almost exclusively on the Gamepad. I say almost since I guess you could try to play it while looking at your TV, but I never tried. Since the navigation and other actions are controlled solely by stylus motions and taps, it just felt natural to stick to the screen on the Gamepad. It definitely takes some time getting used to. At least for me since I really can't remember playing an action game where the only control option was a stylus. You use it to draw lines which Kirby will follow, tapping him will cause him to spin which will speed him up as well as allow him to attack enemies, and then he transforms into vehicles which are controlled similarly to his standard form. The one exception being the tank since you tap the screen to move him to a specific spot while its auto firing torpedos. I really enjoyed the vehicle sections and wish that there were more of them. Most of the levels consist of drawling lines around the level while Kirby rolls along them. It sounds simple and easy, and the early worlds are fairly easy, but the difficulty ramps up somewhat once you start getting to the scrolling stages where you can't move along at your own pace. Those levels aren't unfair or anything, but it obviously means that you have to be much quicker with making decisions. You also only have a specific amount of ink that you can use to draw. It auto generates back, or you can pick up ink that'll refill it automatically, but it's a good mechanic that prevents you from just drawing endless lines. I'd say the boss fights are the one downside to the game. I'm just not sure if they fit the type of structure that the game exists in. I would've actually preferred for them to be replaced by a harder scrolling level. Aside from that the game is really unique and enjoyable. And the visuals are really something you have to see to believe. The way it has sort of a stop motion movement to the animation due to it being a clay world is just amazing. While The Order is certainly the most technically impressive game i've ever seen, Kirby might be the prettiest.

Game 19: God of War 2 - 11:40 - COMPLETED
This was such an amazing game. I loved the emphasis on puzzles that the game had. They actually gave me an early Tomb Raider vibe. Large scale puzzles that sometime span across multiple rooms. Lots of timer based puzzles as well. And they're timer based where even doing the section quickly will only make it where you just barely complete it in time. It's the type of stuff that you don't really see a lot in modern games. It's obviously something that can be frustrating when you just miss it by a second, but it makes it all the more rewarding when you get it right. I hope the upcoming PS4 GoW goes back to that heavy puzzle emphasis. The combat is a nice improve over the original game, which is what you'd expect. A lot more combination and the general flow felt better than the original. The boss fight scale also ramped up in comparison to the original. The Sisters of Fate fight in particular was really enjoyable. It was a unique take on the multi stage fights that you see in some games. The game as a whole just felt like a different scale compared to the original game. It's a really great example of a game taht can take everything that was great about a previous entry of a game and improve on each element of it. This is now definitely my favorite entry in the series. And knowing that Cory is heading up the next GoW game makes me even more excited about it.

Lets get this show on the road.

Game 1: Hearthstone: Curse of Naxramus
Dropped this game just before the last wing was released. Picked it back up when Goblins vs Gnomes came out. Not sure about this adventure. It was pretty fun to play the matches but it was awful value. I managed to get it using only gold but it drained a massive amount of gold, 2800 in all. The cards were decent but a lot of them shared the same themes. Beat all the matches on normal and the class challenges, the heroic mode just felt unfair to me. Overall a 6.5 out of 10. Goblins vs gnomes was so much better for the game. One down, fifty one to go.

Game 2: Hexcells
Got 76 percent of the hexagons. Really good game. Highly enjoyable puzzler, and decent value for the one euro I spent on it. I wish it would tell you what levels you had messed up in previously though. I might buy the sequels in the future. 7.5 out of 10.

Game 3: Stick it to the Man
Great adventure game with some stealth aspects. I really enjoyed the games story and sense of humour. Te main problem I had was that most of the controls were mapped to the same button, R2. This only really became a problem during the last two chapters. The game's art style was brilliant, but took a while to grow on me. If you like adventure games this is a no brainer, even if you don't give this a look. Also special mention has to be made to the music. The menu song will stay stuck in my head for days. Overall a very solid 8 out of 10.

Game 4: The Stanley Parable: I got several endings and am counting this on here. Will probably get a handful more endings. Don't want to spoil anything, this is really a game that has to be played by everyone, strongly suggested. Overall another 8 out of 10 but, seriously go play this. Really flying through this and still have several games on my backlog that I abandoned almost finished. Great start.

Game 5: Little Big Planet 3: Fantastic. My new favorite game of all time taking the place of lbp 2, simple because it's adds more stuff. Story was a bit short however the side quests and popit academy as well as the light power up back tracking made up for that. Recommend it to everyone. Haven't encountered any glitches beside some very minor ones, however I haven't tried to play online multiplayer. Haven't done anything in create yet but I will most likely spend a long time making and epic adventure with side quests, and invetory system etc. Hope you all buy it, it must sell well. Overall a perfect 10/10, It may have some faults but they are so far outwayed it gets a ten. Now if only I could find how to do spreadable water.

Game 6: Framed (ios): Great little game That's free on itunes today to celebrate Australia day or something. When I say litte I mean little, beat it in about an hour, I think. Honestly don't think it's worth more than 99 cent but I really enjoyed it for free. Very clever gam mechanics and beautiful art and animation made it a pleasure to play but I wish after you replayed a scene a few times you could fast forward, some of the animations were quite long. Overall another great game 8/10. Update 1: Changed my mind about this one. Honestly, I don't remember anything much about the story now and in hindsight the gameplay did get a bit repetitive. I think the fact I got it for free and the whole kojima's game of the year clouded my judgement. I'm going to drop it to a 7 out of 10. Still good though.

Game 7: Infamous First Light: Great stand alone expansion to a game I really liked. Honestly it did a lot of things bteer than second son. The side missions were better, the main character was more interesting and the arena combat was great. It made me think that Second Son could be better if side missions were designed for specific powers. The area was the most fun I've had in an infamous games, that said I haven't played Infamous 2. I 100% completed the game. The single player was good fun and I'm very happy I got it for free. Would happily have payed for it. Hopefully other Sony games get expand alones like this. Overall 8 out of 10. Last game of January, overall every game in January has been good.

February:
Game 8:Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor: Amazing game. It just kept getting better and better. Did a few of the side quests. Really enjoyed taking over an entire army and commanding them. Amazing graphics as well. The nemesis system was amazing, it could fit in so many different genres, honestly the randomly generated quests and stories put many other games that attempt random quests to shame. I'm looking at you radiant quests. The combat was super fun. The game really succeed in making you feel like a bad ass.Yet it managed to still have some challenge. Nothing about the game was bad. Everything was well polished and well thought out. The main story was a bit confusing, knowing nothing about lotr. Besides that, this is definitely the new benchmark for AAA games this gen. 9 out of 10, recommend it to anyone on next gen, don't know about last gen, it's meant to be really bad. Also cliffhanger and quick time event final boss was disappointing.

Game 9: Injustice: Gods Among Us: The more I played the less I liked this really. Thank God I got it free, It's no mortal kombat 9 anyway. The fighting systems were super casual which I would normally like but they just made you put down the controller and watch too often. The difficulty seemed more for an actual competitive fighting game towards the end. I honestly found the story got boring. Beat the story and one arcade mode. Probably won't boot it back up. Doesn't help I don't care for Dc, 5 out of 10, don't recommend.

March:
Game 10: To the Moon: I wanted to dislike this game. I wanted to complain about no gameplay. I wanted to say I didn't care for the story. But this was so much better than I expected. It was such a moving story. It was interesting the whole way through. It knew exactly what it wanted to be and executed it perfectly. I now eagerly await the sequel. Did not expect that. 8 out of 10. Highly recommended. Maybe a bit too expensive at full price though.

Not doing them by month anymore:..
Game 11: Democracy 3: Beat the game once, pretty much made a utopia. A really great game which I would recommend. Not for everyone though. It's a pretty nice in depth strategy game. Don't have much else to say. 8 out of 10.

Game 12: Wolfenstein: The New Order: What an excellent fps. Brilliantly designed and I go it pretty cheap as well. You should buy this game. Hated the last boss but everything else was good. The pacing was pretty great. Liked the nice short breaks, chapters without combat. My favourite sections were probably the ones in the concentration camp and the one on the moon. Both were really fun and interesting. Overall 8.5 out of 10.

Game 13: Game Dev Tycoon: Really liked this game. It's also definitely not for everyone. But I had an excellent time and have completed several runs through the game. Made some good games, and will probably continue to play a bit more. 7.5 out of 10

Game 14: Treasures of Montezuma: Blitz: Got all the upgrades and played about 8 hours. With no end to the game that's enough for me. Will never get all the trophies, as they require them to play 100 hours. Not happening. I've had my fill. It's a pretty standard match 3 game. 5.5 out of 10.

Game 15: Jazzpunk: What a strange interesting game. Honestly I felt I was about half way through the game and then it ended. Easily beatable in about 45 minutes if you do no side stuff. Side stuff is where the best stuff is. I laughed out loud several times. It was a fun adventure game. But I beat the game with about 2/3 of the side stuff done in around 2 hours. Would have like a bit more, but still fun while it lasted. 6.5 out of 10.

Game 16: CounterSpy: I wanted this to be good. I had high hopes for it when I saw it on an E3 stream one year. But it really isn't very good. It's a perfect example of rogue lite design not working. The encounters are always the same and the game really needs level design to better take advantage of it's different weapons. You can't plan ahead so you end up using the exact same equipment every level. Nothing about gameplay really fulfilled it's potential. It end s up being a fairly average game. 5/10

Game 17: Towerfall: I'm counting beating towerforge as a win, despite there being 3 more levels. I have no one who wants to play multiplayer and only one controller anyway. A fairly decent if frustrating game. I tried multiplayer once and didn't really enjoy it enough to play it over other games. 7/10.

Games 51-100 writeups

Game 101: Picross NP Vol. 5 - started on 26.09.2015, finished on 17.10.2015 (10:06) - yet another Picross puzzle pack.

Game 102: The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone - started on 17.10.2015, finished on 19.10.2015 (10:06) - great expansion, ploughed straight through it, as can be seen by playtime. Some really tough fights, some really beautiful quests. Well worth the price.

Game 103: Contradiction - started on 19.10.2015, finished on 21.10.2015 (5:58) - oh wow, did not expect to enjoy this game so much. Who needs Phoenix Wright when there's Inspector Jenks around to save the day?

Game 104: Tales from the Borderland - started on 21.10.2015, finished on 25.10.2015 (10:44) - best Telltale game. Yes, despite the source material, I can state with a conviction that it surpasses both The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us. Amazing cast of characters, stellar voice acting and writing, great plot that keeps you invested in the game. Play this, folks, positive surprise of the year.

Game 105: Paint it Back - started on 17.10.2015, finished on 29.10.2015 (20:58) - well, it's Picross. On Steam. Which makes it automatically the best puzzle game on Steam. Good interface, some decent puzzles, well worth the purchase.

Game 106: Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse - started on 25.10.2015, finished on 31.10.2015 (10:23) - well, it sure looked amazing. Except for the characters. And it sure had a good story. Except for the ending, but that has been a problem in all Broken Sword games so far. And it was in lovely 2D, and also quite playable, unlike the monstrosity that was Angel of Dead. It's just... the game is a prime example of bankrupt creativity. There's just nothing... new here, constant cameos of characters from the first game just for the sake of shouting 'hey, remember those cool characters we made? how cool they were?' to the player... Oh well. Worth the time, although I'd appreciate if next game just made a clean cut. Just George doing his best Indiana Jones impression. Still worth a play, but... well, don't expect anything amazing.

Game 107: Mushihimesama - started on 07.11.2015, finished on 11.11.2015 (6:06) - 1cc on Novice Original, 1cc on Novice Maniac, 3rd stage 1cc on Novice Ultra. Amazing game.

Game 108: Picross NP Vol. 6 - started on 31.10.2015, finished on 11.11.2015 (10:19) - nothing much changed between this and previous games, just another puzzle pack.

Game 109: The Talos Principle - started on 11.11.2015, finished on 18.11.2015 (14:46) - enjoyed the game, not enough to try to find the stars. Nothing groundbreaking originality-wise, and it does slightly overstay its welcome, especially the cloning puzzles. Not as good as Portal games, but then, what is?

Game 110: Game of Thrones - started on 18.11.2015, finished on 22.11.2015 (11:20) - if only Telltale could stop with those bloody cliffhangers and just learn to end their stories. Also, have something going on for their 'games' other than voice acting. Also, some actual choices and consequences. Still, it wasn't as bad as some people paint it up to be. Just... throughly mediocre.

Game 111: Picross NP Vol. 7 - started on 19.11.2015, finished on 05.12.2015 (11:26) - see previous Picross notes. :)

Game 112: Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist, started on 05.12.2015, finished on 05.12.2015 (0:25) - not sure what's the fuss about those 'follow the voice through a scripted ride through the level' games. People seem to like them for some reason. Definitely not for me though.

Game 113: Tales of Zestiria - started on 31.10.2015, finished on 10.12.2015 (51:48) - well, that was an JRPG, all right. Lovely music, too complicated for its own good, crappy animu story and good animu cast. I just wish the fighting system was better, way too much invincibility frames for most of enemies, way too much of HP for most of enemies and a game that was either entirely devoid of challenge or harder than Dark Souls with no middle ground. Oh well, looking forward to further Tales games on PC, especially given how great this one looked at 60 fps.

Game 114: Read Only Memories - started on 23.11.2015, finished on 15.12.2015 (12:32) - word of advice - if you plan to make a VN that has six endings, either make each route different or at the very least add a text skip option. Not much more at fault here, great little game. Highly recommended, if you're looking for a Snatcher fan game.

Game 115: Picross NP Vol. 8 - started on 05.12.2015, finished on 17.12.2015 (11:22) - I'm done. Done. Done with Picross on SNES.... *goes to fire up Tamori Picross*

Game 116: Tamori no Picross - started on 18.12.2015, finished on 19.12.2015 (1:28) - feels more like a prototype version of Mario no Picross. Still, a bunch of exclusive puzzles is nothing to scoff at.

Game 117: Shadow Complex Remaster - started on 15.12.2015, finished on 20.12.2015 (7:29) - I seriously can't understand what would motivate Epic to give the PC port away for free. Great metroidvania, maybe a bit too much shooting for my taste, but the exploration and platforming aspects were very well done.

Game 118: Broken Age - started on 20.12.2015, finished on 24.12.2015 (8:23) - fuck the haters, that was the best adventure game I played this year. Yes, even the part 2, while weaker overall. Lovely graphics, amazing writing and voice acting, superb music, good puzzles too. Wish the game didn't have puzzles that required outside knowledge, but oh well. Highly recommended, especially at $7 or lower.

Game 119: Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart - started on 26.12.2015, finished on 27.12.2015 (3:16) - other than the godawful quality of movies, and porn movie voice acting, not much wrong with the game. Didn't dabble with the shanghai scenes at all, but if someone can't absolutely stand hidden objects, there's an alternative. Good for an evening or so...

Dropped Game 1: Breath of Fire - started on 20.12.2014, dropped on 07.01.2015
# Absurd amount of random encounters coupled with low difficulty level of said encounters completely broke my resolve.
Dropped Game 2: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay - started on 16.04.2015, dropped on 18.04.2015
# The combination of FOV and headbob makes for a very nauseating experience. I was feeling sick after few minutes of gameplay. Dropped for now, maybe will have a look at the game later.
Dropped Game 3: Desktop Dungeons - started on 25.04.2015, dropped on 14.06.2015
# I might get back into the game at a later time, what I played was fun at first, but quickly devolved into romhacky bullshit. Unless I've been playing the game wrong. We'll see.

January's games

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, Vita, c.40 hours

My first visit to Gamindustri, and I got pretty much what I expected. Plenty of anime girls, moe elements, a gaming related pun every few seconds. I really, really love the concept of the Hyperdimension universe, but I think the delivery sees a rather bog-standard JRPG hamstrung by certain elements of the mechanics that makes up some niche sales by pandering to an otaku crowd.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2, Vita, c.35 hours

Ha! More of the same, just this time with the little sisters of the main cast last time round. Which makes the sexualised moe stuff a little more creepy. The move to four characters and the limiting of over-powerful moves early on does help some of the early-mid game balance issues, but some new mistakes means that once again Gamindustri still isn't quite on the must visit list. I still think the concept, and the franchise, has got great potential to deliver a genuinely good game that would finally impress people outside of its niche, but we're not quite there yet.

The Swapper, Vita, 5 hours

I love surprises like this; I'd not really read too much about The Swapper, and I tend not to actively seek out puzzle games, so nabbing this on Plus was probably the only way I was going to get to it. Really phenomenal game, great art direction and setting, and the puzzles themselves was fantastic. I loved the way progression worked too, with the odd time that I got stuck on a puzzle not meaning that I had to sit there banging my head against the Vita unless I really wanted to.

Titan Attacks!/, Vita, 2 hours

Another Plus offering I'd loaded up for a quick play after some longer games, but nowhere near the quality of The Swapper. Bit too easy to load up and depend on 'emergency' bombs and shields to get you through, and not even that expensive as long as you combined that tactic with not sucking entirely at the game. Might scratch a small space invaders itch, but probably not

Akiba's Trip, Vita, 5 hours

Just a quick run through or 2 to cap off some additional story trophies - thoughts on the game as a whole in last year's 52 list.

I'd be amazed if I was able to reduce the size of my backlog over the coming year, but hey, I might at least be able to make it grow slower by playing 52 games that are currently on it!
I may end up scoring some of the games on a ★...★★★★★ scale, where appropriate.

Game 1: Platypus (-)
Made a good effort to play this, no dice. Main menu is just frozen no matter what compatibility stuff I set in Windows, and apparently publisher has all rights to the game so I doubt the dev would be fixing anything any time soon. I watched a bit of a Let's Play to find out what I was missing, looks cute but I'm not too miffed. -1 for the backlog!

Game 2: Unholy Heights (in progress)
Cute game! Obviously could benefit from more budget / devs.

Game 3: Portal 2 co-op campaign (in progress)
I have previously played the single-player as well as the first Portal. My co-op partner hasn't played any Portal before. Game crashes all the time in co-op, but looking good otherwise. The co-op mode certainly isn't phoned in.

Game 4: Final Rush - 10 minutes (★?)
Multiplayer shooter, exactly zero people online when I tried it. From what I saw from an attempt to play it alone, it seems competently produced, but the game design is bland and generic, with near identical robots to shoot with boring guns. No idea why this would be worth playing, if there were people to play it with.

Game 1: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 1.5 Hours - Complete 2/1/2015
Not a big MGS fan, I really can't stand Kojima's storytelling and I find the series overall plot very uninteresting (Completed 2, got part-way through 3 before ditching the series). However I wanted to try Ground Zeroes just to see how the Gameplay was (It was fantastic in MGS2), because with The Phantom Pain going open world I feel that if I enjoy the Gameplay, it'll be worth it since I'll just be able to walk away from the Story and make up my own shenanigans out in the world. Pleased to say I enjoyed it VERY much, couple of issues (And the story aspects of GZ were just as annoying except with Kiefer mumbling like a retard to the point where without the subtitles I would have missed half of what he says) but overall I'm now looking forward to The Phantom Pain and hopefully I'll be able to play it like I'm intending.

Game 2: Legend of Grimrock 2 - ~20 hours - Complete 30/1/2015
Never really been into Dungeon Crawlers (Diablo is about it), but this game completely blew me away. Incredible atmosphere, easy to understand but incredibly hard to master combat, gorgeous art style, tons of neat RPG mechanics, well paced, incredibly difficult puzzles (I'm miffed about it but I did have to go to a guide a couple of times)... Just simply fucking superb, if it wasn't for the sheer amount of games I have to get through this year, I'd be tempted to play it again very soon.

Game 3: Call of Juarez Gunslinger - 6-7 hours - Complete 31/1/2015
Didn't expect the game to be so short, but non-the-less absolutely stellar. Captured the Western theme extremely well, great music, interesting story, fantastic gameplay, guns actually felt like they had weight to them, duels were more interesting and complex then even RDR. I don't think I've ever seen a game take the same approach Gunslinger did to storytelling, the way it wove the tale being told at the Saloon whilst you played out the action was just incredible. Actually finding a way to blend Gameplay and Story so perfectly, and it allowed super cool stuff to be done with each level (Parts appearing/disappearing, repeating certain segments but with a different perspective etc).

Game 4: Gun - 8 hours - Complete 1/2/2015
Pretty mixed on this one. Everything in the writing department was very cliche, but at least it all made sense and there was some very amusing moments. Nothing really impressive in terms of visuals, even for a 2005 game. Boring side-missions. Sometimes the Music was incredible and atmospheric, other times it sounded like it could have belonged to any typical Blockbuster Superhero movie. Gunplay was clunky (Even for its time) but weighty, fun and satisfying and some great boss fights. The horse riding was absolutely out of this world for a 2005 title, everything about it from the animations to controls just blew me away, how did they pull that off a decade ago? As someone who adores Western's, this was still only ok, I just wish the rest of the game had been as quality as the Horse Riding.

Game 5: Grim Fandango Remastered - 10-20 hours - Complete 5/2/2015
I stopped and started so many times due to the game crashing/freezing and bugs (It's why my hours to complete is a really large window), and so on that side I was extremely frustrated and disappointed. Considering it's just a remaster I have no idea how they let so many of these issues get through, it's honestly a pretty pathetic effort IMO. Technical issues aside however the game was fantastic. Music is just incredible, Story/Characters is absolutely brilliant, superb atmosphere and gorgeous artstyle. Puzzles were insanely tricky though, I admit I had to go to a guide on occasion. Really I think they could have made stuff a little more obvious, because there was puzzles that literally made no sense, or had no connection to any information presented to the player or in the environment, but this is just the style and challenge of older games and kudos to anyone with the persistence to do it all without looking at a walkthrough at all.

Game 6: Myst - ~10 hours - Complete 6/2/2015
After playing both Grim Fandango & Myst, I think perhaps I'm just not a big P&C fan. Not anything related to story or atmosphere etc, but just the controls and how you play, I guess it's terrible people like myself as to why P&C has died off a lot, but I dunno, mechanically I just don't find them all that fun to play. At the very least Myst had more logical puzzles than Grim, and I didn't have to go to any guides since everything was reasonably explained by videos and environment. I liked the atmosphere and was intrigued by the game just due to constantly asking the question, "What is happening here?", which is great, but after I finish off my Trio of P&C games (Riven up next is the last), I don't think I'll be coming back for more.

Game 7: Riven - ~14 Hours - Complete 7/2/2015
Much the same as Myst, although prettier, even better puzzles, richer atmosphere, and felt way more polished (Or just less clunky due to the years of advancement between Myst/Riven). I got sucked into Riven as a world way more then I did Myst, the atmosphere and environment/s was much more interesting. I still don't think P&C is a genre I'm going to delve any deeper into, but I definitely found Riven more enjoyable than Myst, but neither were as engaging as Grim.

Game 8: The Simpsons: Hit & Run - Indefinite Hold due to being riddled with bugs making it practically unplayable.

Game 8 (Take Two): Saints Row IV - 6 Hours - Uncomplete 18/3/2015
I got insanely distracted over the last month by World of Warcraft private server's that it has taken me this long to get back to SRIV. Coming back I realize why I got distracted by it in the first place, it's just a boring and uninteresting game.
The world lacks any kind of atmosphere/immersion, humor is awful, writing is poor, randomness that is just stupid and pointless. Sure it has some great animations and it was cool pretending I was Superman for a few minutes with all the superpowers, but it after that initial 'flair' wears off underneath its just a terrible and uninteresting game.

Game 9: Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare - 7 Hours - Complete 22/3/2015
So I've been trying to categorize my games as I play them, and now I'm on the open world portion. After a very disappointing experience with Saints Row, I've moved over to a company that has a much better grasp on Open World's - Rockstar, and thank god for that.
I didn't enjoy Undead Nightmare nearly as much as the base RDR. Sadly I hit a wall about half a dozen years ago and now I have a really hard time enjoying the Zombie/Undead/Infected setting in movies/books/games etc. Thankfully though I at least had more fun with Undead Nightmare than I did say, The Last of Us. Horse Riding was still great, amazing presentation like the original, I had a couple of intense moments you just don't get in non-undead games and overall I still enjoyed it - but the use of Undead meant it never came close to the Spaghetti Western awesomeness of the original game.

Game 10: Red Dead Redemption - 37 Hours - Complete 10/4/2015
Atmosphere: The Game.

Game 11: GTA V (PC) - 86 Hours - Complete 28/4/2015
Been waiting to replay this since September 2013 when I finished the PS3 version. Absolutely one of the most gorgeous games ever, thank fuck for the PC version and just so much insane random fun. Really enjoyable story, similar to RDR suffers from repetitive mission structure but makes up for it with a fantastic cast. Just such a great world to muck about in, explore, cause mayhem and lose yourself. Plenty of faults, but the overall package is great.

Game 12: The Witcher - In Progress
Taking a quick 2 game detour from open worlds, to set up my save game for The Witcher 3 and just generally enjoy one of my all time favourite video game series. Not even going to write a description for The Witcher 2, suffice to say I just fucking love these games, and I really hope The Witcher 3 is a worthy 3rd entry.

Game 13: The Witcher 2 - In Progress

(Game 52: World of Warcraft Private Server's - Ongoing for the entire year, as my "final" game - ~290 Hours)

No way I'll do 52 games in a year... but a man can dream. Claimed.

1. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PC): Quite short but enjoyable. Puzzles were overall easy with the hardest part for me remembering which brother is which analog stick. The world was interesting and the story was alright.
2. Sunset Overdrive (XBO) - In Progress
3. Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) - In Progress
4. DKC Tropical Freeze (Wii U) - In Progress
5. Wind Waker HD (Wii U) - In Progress

In Progress

Game 1: Wasteland 2 - 45 Minutes Played
The odds of me completing this is slim, the idea will be this will be accompanying shorter games when I'm in the mood.

Will reserve this post but I don't think I'll make it. Will focus on clearing my backlog.

January:

Game 1: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix HD (PS3): One of my favorite childhood games. Still love it though it took longer to get going than I remembered.
Game 2: The Wolf Among Us (PC): I like it. I even prefer it to The Walking Dead S1.
Game 3: Armillo (WiiU): Some nice ideas, but not fully thought-out. Some things were difficult for the sake of difficulty.
Game 4: Persona 4: Golden (Vita): Love it! Sneaked into my All Time Favorite list. Will definitly make a NG+ run later this year.
Game 5: Child of Light (WiiU): Beatiful artdesign and wonderful soundtrack. Boring everything else. If it wouldn't be for OffTV-Play I wouldn't even have bothered playing it more than an hour.
Game 6: Injustice: Gods Among Us (PS4) (PS+): Cheesy story and presentation but I liked it. Made my through the SP with button mashing on easy.

February

Game 7: Metal Gear Solid 2 HD (PS3): My first Metal Gear Solid game! Skipped MGS 1 because I can't stand Gen 5 3D-games. Liked it overall, though the fight against the Metal Gear Ray army got a little bit frustrating because the homing missiles always hit my ankle and I died. And I didn't expected the final fight with the sword being fun but it was.
Game 8: Kingdom Hearts: Re: Chain of Memories HD (PS3): I still have a soft spot for the card battle system. Though I prefer the GBA version I still like CoM, camera issues aside. And I vastly prefer the Riku campaign over the Sora campaign.

March

Game 9: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U): Really enjoyed the game but I wish it had more voice acting and not just an narratress. If it wouldn't be for my backlog I would do the adventure mode and level my characters. I would even consider buying the DLC.
Game 10: Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition (PS4) (PS+): Got it through PS+ and don't consider it part of my backlog. Played it in online-coop. Terrible HUD problems. The HUD is too big, I saw the HUD of my coop-partner even in online. And you always lost your character.
Game 11: Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS): Got the Law ending. Though it was a bit too long, I really like it. Love the press-turn-system, the world and most of the demon design.
Game 12: Gunman Clive (3DS): Short but very good platformer.
Game 13: Gunman Clive 2 (3DS): In every regard better than the first one. More colourful, more enemy types, more scenarios and more gameplay variety. But some bosses gave me a little but of a hard time.
Game 14: Mighty Switch Force (3DS): Liked it. Preferred the more linear levels to the more open levels but overall it was a good puzzle-platformer.
Game 15: 3D Shinobi III (3DS): Awesome classic with great 3D. Game is great though sometimes I got confused with when to press for double jump. Also found out I could block in the last third of the game. Shamelessly used save states.
Game 16: Link's Awakening: Don't know why I didn't play the GBC Zelda games as a kid. Liked that game though the last two dungeons were a bit to confusing for me. Otherwise great game though the frequent changing of items got a little bit annoying.

April

Game 17: Metroid: Fusion (Wii U): Great game. Some hard passages but otherwise I had a great time with Fusion. Though I need to play Super Metroid again to definitly say I prefer Fusion, I prefer Fusion to Super Metroid.
Game 18: Okami HD (PS3): Beatiful game, maybe a bit too long. Even went for the platinum trophy. The art style was amazing, the soundtrack was pretty good, combat was alright, puzzles in dungeons were non existent. The last thing puts it under the Zelda-series for me, but another great one from Kamiya.
Game 19: BOXBOY! (3DS): Cute, little game. Though every world before the final are basically the tutorial for the final levels of the story-mode, it is still fun. Most puzzles are maybe to close to too easy but still fun. Some bits which require a little bit more thinking but everything is doable. Only beat the story mode but will do the extra worlds later.
Game 20:Shovel Knight (Wii U): With the NES being older than me, Shovel Knight wasn't a throwback for me. I enjoyed it nevertheless. Great platforming, not too hard, good checkpoints and some good ideas. Don't think I'll do a NG+ run but once the DLC its I'll be back playing it.
Game 21: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD (PS3): Because of the Bond-Rambo feeling and the changing environments I liked it more than Metal Gear Solid 2. And even though it is more linear there is still an element of discovery. But the controls were as annoying as in MGS 2.
Game 22: Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3): Finally Metal Gear Solid controls good! It is my favorit MGS. Huge rooms to sneak through, changing locations and (imo) superb cutscenes. Truly an fantastic game. Only downside was the framerate coming from the HD-versions of MGS 2 and MGS 3.

May:

Game 23: 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure (3DS): Great platformer though maybe a bit too easy. Liked the 3D effect, the music and the level design was great. Looked good, too. Really have to change my perception of NES games.
Game 24: Donkey Kong Land (3DS GB VC): Had a little bit eShop money left and bought this because I went away for a few days. Sadly the 3DS does emulate the screen of the GB with white instead of the greenish so I didn#t get hit with nostalgia. That aside Donkey Kong Land had nice level design where you could play into a flow but it wasn't anything special. And there were some terrible ideas, too. I liked the soundtrack though it were like 5 songs but the game isn't really long with 3-4 hours. The sprites are pretty detailed for a GB game imo. In the end I liked it and I didn't waste money or time playing this during the trip.
Game 25: Azure Strike Gunvolt (3DS): I consider the game beaten eventhough I haven't beaten the final boss yet. His life bar was empty and one last attack killed and I had to do the two fights again. But this seems beyond my ability. Maybe I'll give the last guy a shot again once I have cooled down but as of now I'm finished with this game. And I liked it. Never played an Mega Man game before and liked the twist with tag and shock Azure Striker offered. The sprites are beautiful crafted, the soundtrack is good and the stages are imo pretty good designed. The bosses look cool so that I can overlook the lacking enemy design. It even has money and a crafting system which both are useless as you only need money to craft some equipment but for that you need materials that you only can get after missions and are randomized. But overall a good game. And just as I typed this I gave it another try and beat it in my first try...
Game 26: Mighty Gunvolt (3DS): Short, little sidescroll-shooter. And with short I mean short. You see the credits in less than an hour but it are enjoyable 30 minutes. It's some bits of the above game reimagined as 8-bit. Adds a double jump, drops abilities, the useless upgrade/money system. I don't know what more I can say about it. It's good but nothing special.
Game 27: Murasaki Baby (Vita): Got it rhough PS+. It was okay. The art style is similiar to some Tim Burton movies or Little inferno. The main gameplay mechanic is dragging the Baby and its ballon through various worlds to find its mommy. There are different puzzles for which you must use front and rear touch. Most of the time it works well but sometimes it doesn't recognise your action and you have to restart or touch the screen multiple times to finally get the action that you wanted. I'd say give it a try if you have a Vita and grabbed it through PS+, otherwise wait for a sale.
Game 28: Chrono Trigger (DSi): Amazing game. Great battle system, detailed and fantastic looking sprites, a good story which doesn't feel confusing even if it stretches over tenthousands of years (though you only visit 5-6 different ages). And for the first time I noticed how things I did in the game influenced other parts. Something you'll change in the past will make a new location or event in the future. I can say nothing bad about the game. I only regret not playing it earlier.
Game 29: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD (PS3): I'm missing one chapter and the missions for the true ending. But I just can't play it any longer. The game pisses me just off and I like all the other MGS games. I made it to the first Peace Walker battle. I disliked it as much as the other vehicle and AI battles. After I read that I have one more battle with the Peace Walker I decided to abandon the game. I put too much into it to not consider it beaten so it is my game 29. Will watch the remaining parts on Youtube.

June:

Game 30: Splatoon: Played every level in the singleplayer. I like it. Some clever ideas with the inking. Nice presentation, likable weird characters. And that final boss, man. Dude is freaking amazing. Cool design and music. And the fight itself is great, too. Though it is a litte bit short. But maybe it is for the best befor some ideas start to repeat too often.
Game 31: Color Zen: Completed every puzzle of the 460. It's a good game to relax with. Relaxing music and the puzzles don't require too much brain. What left a negative impression are the unresponsive touch controls and sometimes you couldn't see a ring of colors because it was too thin on the n3DS touchscreen.
Game 32: Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (PC) Really liked it. The battle system was interesting although it is pretty slow. I liked the cute graphical style but the character portraits felt cheap. The story is interesting but some dialogue sequences stretch a bit too long. Then there's the orbment system. It is similiar to the dschinns in Golden Sun but more complex and confusing. That might be my biggest complaint while the others are minor.
Game 33: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4): Metal Gear Solid in a open world - I'm not feeling it sadly. Mechanicly I would say it refined MGS 4 mechanics a little bit. It looks good and has a stable framerate. At least I didn't notice any dips. But there are so many spots in the game I said to myself "Oh man, I wish that I could do that/ go thorugh there because there seems to be a route. While it isn't bad and the camp you're infiltrating is beatifully crafted, I'm somehow disappointed and less hyped for Phantom Pain.
Game 34: Metal Slug 3 (PC): Played in coop. Great game and beatiful pixelwork. Can't say much about the soundtrack because I had to mute it because otherwise I wouldn't have understand voice chat. I liked the setpieces, too, but sometimes the screen gets so swarmed with bullets and objects that it gets confusing as hell.

July:

Game 35: Double Dragon Neon (PC): Beat it with a buddy. Cool and funny beat'em up. Though it sometimes feels a bit sluggish and some sections would have required some more precise controls, it's still pretty good. Great soundtrack, too.
Game 36: Final Fantasy IX (Vita): Liked it! Artdesign is what I expect from Final Fantasy, story is interesting and the characters are likeable. I often heard that the battles are slow but i can't confirm that. At least I don't feel that they were slower than VII's or X' battle. But maybe it is too long since I played those.
Game 37: Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix HD (PS3): It was my favorite game for a long time and still is one of my favorites even after replaying it. Such an upgrade over the original. I wanted to do as much as possible but the Lingering Will kicks my ass so I lost motivation. I can't even do the easy method. Eitherway still a great game in my opinion.

August

Game 38: Ghost Trick (NDS): Great adventure game. Besides classic like the first two Monkey Islands or Day of the Tentacle I usually don't play adventures. But this one kept me at it. The animations are fantastic. The characters are cool and the story kept me interested, too. And the gameplay mechanic is also interesting. You can go into different objects and sometimes control them. You use this to either move forward or undo the deaths of people. Sometimes it's logical, sometimes it requires more abstract thinking but there are no "Use confetti with valve" or something like that.
Game 39: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix HD (PS3): I liked the new battle system they used with this entry in one of my favorite franchises. And even though I enjoyed the game and glad I could play something I missed because I didn't have a PSP, I have some complaints, too. First is that there are no Final Fantasy characters besides one. The whole game is a complete Disney show. The other thing that bugged me is on the technical site. There are some framerate issues and the aspect ratio isn't suited for a TV and I often wanted to see more, like in the main games. Otherwise it has problems with the world feeling kind of empty but that is a problem the whole series has. After all is said, I'd rank it number two in my personal ranking for the series.
Game 40: Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded HD (PS3): Another game I missed in the series because 356/2 Days scared me off for future DS Kingdom Hearts games. Glad I watched the cutscenes and got to know of the story but in the end I don't regret having not played it back then.
Game 41: Suikoden (Vita): Great JRPG and while it is pretty short for a JRPG, I think if it was longer it would have overstayed its welcome. It has pretty and detailed sprites which look amazing on the Vita. The sprite animations in story-sequences were great, too, but outside of that they are a little bit stiff, especially the running animation of the main character. The battle system is great but the magic system is a little bit confusing at least for me. The inventory lacks a lot of comfort and the world map doesn't look appealing. But the cities and villages are good designed. And the story gets me going which was suprisingly dark.
Game 42: Catherine (PS3): I liked almost everything in and about Ctherine. I liked the characters, the scenario wasn't your typical videogame setting, the artdesign was great and the story isn't something you'd expect from a videogame. And while I like the base idea of the actual gameplay and the puzzles there is something that I loath about it. And that thing is the time limit. While it makes somewhat sense in the game itself for me it was pretty stressful. I even had to set it to easy difficulty though that could also be me being to stupid. Maybe Catherine would be higher in my toplist if it wouldn't have stressed me so much. I adore Catherine but I sadly can't love it.

September

Game 43: Suikoden II (Vita): In almost every regard better than its predecessor. It looks more colourful and there are more sprite animations. The battle system staid the same but that isn't a bad thing since it was already good in Suikoden I. The story is in parts pretty light but also partial pretty grim. What I liked most about it were the cook offs. While they look pretty boring since the only thing you do is choosing three meals to cook for the judges, they have amazing animations. My only complaint is that it overstays its welcome a little bit. And I went back and watched two endings. Since I could've got both endings with my save and some things didn't make much sense in one version of the ending. But overall I really liked it.
Game 44: Grow Home (PC): Nice little Platformer-Freeclimber. I liked the art style which while reduced looked fantastic from time to time and made great screenshot material. The little BUD you're playing looks a little bit drunk while walking it doesn't feel like you're loosing control over your character. The climbing works well and only the navigating of the saplings is sometimes confusing. Funnily I finished the game while showing it to a buddy through streaming.

October:

Game 45: Klonoa (Vita): Nice platformer, that got annoying in the end. Maybe it was me because I played it before going to sleep and my reflexes weren't up to the challenge. Don't have much more to say about it. If I would have played it as a kid I'd probably had cried at the ending (even now I had a little tear in the eye). Good platformer with some minor flaws.
Game 46: Crash Bandicoot 2 (Vita): Wonder why I bought that game. My only nostalgia for Crash was always watching a friend playing it when I was a kid. And I bought the first one last year and thought it was terrible. Now it was reduced in price and I couldn't resist and gave it another try. Crash 2 is so much better than its predecessor. That said, for my liking the jumping did feel unprecise and overall not very good. And the later jetpack levels were annoying. Overall it is an enjoyable game with flaws.
Game 47: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PC): I don't know what I can say about the game other than I've never played a game so long that I didn't enjoy. After a few hours of questing through the world I was bored and annoyed. The sidequests are meaningless other than working through a checklist. The story was uninteresting for me and I've never skipped so much dialogue in a game like I did in this. The combat system is serviceable but falls flat to the games it tries to imitate. The artstyle is pretty but also a generic Blizzard clone. Kingdoms of Amalur is a good game that overstays it's welcome. If I would describe I'd call it a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
Game 48: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered (PS4): Enojoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Already played it on PS3 and only got the collection because I won it as a prize. Which is maybe why I enjoyed it more than I expected. It still looks good, it feels better to play in 60FPS, the characters are still likeable eventhough they are mass murders. Some encounters were designed as shit though and most of my deaths weren't in gunfights but because Drake skipped an animation and fell into his death instead of grabing the edge.
Game 49: 3D Classics Outrun (n3DS): Needed a little bit to get used too, but in the end it was one of the few racing games I like playing. Got some heavy 80's/90's vibe from driving with your blonde girlfriend in a ferrari. The sprites looked good and even though the background design was often repeated it looked good, too. I know there was a HD version on 360 but I missed that. Here's hoping Sega releases another HD-version for either WiiU, PS4, NX or PC.

November:

Game 50: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered: Man, fuck this game. It probably be in the honorable mentions of my favorite games of all time if it wasn't for the last two chapters which are totally shit. Awful new enemy type, awful encounters and a final boss fight which is unbelievable shit. Which is a shame because the game is for a long time pretty stellar. It feels dynamic, the action is great and it looks graphically awesome. I now played this game twice and was always left disappointed by the last few chapters.
Game 51: Persona 4: Dancing all Night (PSVita): I love this game. I love the characters and I love the feeling of hitting a perfect note. Even intend to get the Platinum trophy for which I only have to grind cash now. Free Dance is fantastic and I like the selection of Songs and the remixes. Won't bother with Hard+ difficulty. Stuff is insane. Oh and the story mode was kinde unnecessary. Pretty elaborate but so much pointless chatter that I skipped every dialogue after the first 2 hours.
Game 52: Life is Strange (PC): I like Life is Strange and I hate Life is Strange. The first two episodes are pretty good. Though something big is hinted, I thought it's going to be a Persona-esque Highschool Drama but with superpowers in America. Oh boy, was I wrong. (If you want to avoid hints about what's going to happen, to read any further). Though you're looking for a girl it full on jumps the shark and becomes some supernatural shayamaln criminal minds kind of thing. Add to that that the voice acting is sometimes pretty bad (though good voice acting wouldn't have saved the sometimes pretty strange dialogue) and the animations often are too stiff. However, I liked that Life is Strange tried to do something new and did some things other video games didn't. If only the developer hadn't went over the top.

December

Game 53: Fallout 4 (PC): After 50 hours I finally beat Fallout 4. Sided with the Institute in the end. I really liked though the gunplay still can be improved. Got often distracted by side quests which doesn't happen often to me. And some of them were really great written. Something the main story lacked, sadly. Otherwise the world is great, really enjoyed exploring it. However, in the next games Bethesda needs to improve on the mobility. The jumping feels cosmetic and walking/running becomes boring sometimes. Maybe I'm spoiled from the likes of the Titanfall beta or Xenoblade Chronicles X but in those games I enjoyed moving much more.

Currently playing: Undertale (PC), Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU)

Finished 62 last year, going to see if I can beat that this year. Starting off the year with FFXIV might not help though...

Edit: And we're off

Game 1: Bayonetta 2 - 9 hours - JAN 1
This one started a little slow to me but I really loved it. The amazing combat and craziness of the story/world were awesome.

Game 2: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 3 hours - JAN 3
Felt a little shallow but it was nice to get a preview of how MGSV will play. The actual gameplay part felt a lot better than previous MGS games I played.

Game 3: Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris - 7.5 hours - JAN 7
I was rather letdown by this game after the enjoyment of the first one. The many co-op bugs also made the experience much worse than it should have been. If they do another title in the series I hope they put some more effort into bugfixing and polish.

Game 4: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition - 30 hours - JAN 17
Finally got around to playing this in preparation for Witcher 3. Overall, I thought it was a good game but the terrible combat and myriad bugs kept me from thinking it is a great game. With how linear it was while still being bug-filled I am a bit worried about Witcher 3.

Game 5: Infamous First Light - 6 hours - JAN 19
Got this as a PS+ freebie and really enjoyed it. I will probably pick up Second Son now and see how that is but I really liked Fetch as a character, hopefully this other dude holds up.

Game 6: Song of the Myrne: What Lies Beneath - 4 hours - JAN 23
A fun little and simple action RPG, not bad at all for what it is.

Game 7: Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn - 2 Months - FEB 11
Really enjoyed this and I am not a big MMO guy anymore. Looking forward to playing the expansion later this year.

Game 8: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Season 2 - Ongoing - MAR 1
Been playing on Season 2 with some friends, got to high 40's for Greater Rifts so marking this as "complete" even though I will be playing off and on until the season ends.

Game 9: Fantasy Life - 63 hours - MAR 1
This game has been my bedtime game for the last few months. It gets a bit grindy but it was a great game to play each night. I will probably pickup the expansion pack after I finish some other games.

Game 10: Skilltree Saga - 3 hours - MAR 6
Very strong contender for my worst game of the year. This would barely be tolerable as a Facebook or Flash game timewaster. Making this turd a paid product (albeit I got it in a bundle) and calling it a rogue-like is just awful.

Game 11: Saints Row: Gat out of Hell - 8 hours - MAR 7
Snagged this in the $5 Gamestop sale and it felt like that was a fair price for it. I had fun playing co-op with my friend but this was essentially a mod for Saints Row 4.

Game 12: The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II - 30 hours - MAR 16
I played through this in co-op with a friend and we managed to complete the most difficult content in the game before calling it quits. The game has numerous issues with bugs and lack of re-playability past a certain part but overall it was fun enough that I don't feel like this was wasted time.

Game 13: Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae - 3 hours - MAR 17
The summon was so awesome! I can't wait for the full game, bring on spring 2016 (I hope).

Game 14: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D - 29 hours - MAR 20
This was my first time playing Majora's Mask and I can easily see why it is so divisive now. Personally, I really enjoyed the deviation from the standard Zelda formula once I got the hang of it. The game was like Zelda made by someone on acid and I dig it.

Game 15: Bloodborne - 35 hours - APR 1
Had a great time with this one. A bit disappointed in the difficulty but we will see if two more play-throughs for the platinum remedy that.

Game 16: Gauntlet - 5 hours - APR 2
This one was fun enough but pretty barebones. The co-op really saved it though.

Game 17: Talisman Digital Edition - 6 hours - APR 4
Played a couple games of this with some friends today and had a great time. It is nice to be able to play a "board game" with friends who don't live anywhere close to me.

Game 18: Bloodborne (NG+, NG++ and Platinum Trophy) - 20 hours - APR 9
Finished this one up. The Chalice Dungeons ended up being a repetitive and boring experience. I really liked the idea of Chalice Dungeons but the execution just didn't do it for me. Still loved the game and getting all trophies.

Game 19: Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin - 50 hours - APR 19
Just a replay of the new release of the game with a friend. The new enemy placements were pretty cool and kept the game fresh.

Game 20: Final Fantasy Type 0 HD - 40 hours - APR 26
Finished the Platinum on this today. Enjoyed it for what it was and hopefully the sequel is made as console first to realize the full potential of the series.

Game 21: Bloodsports.TV - 8 hours - MAY 2
This one is a fun MOBA-style game but it is focused on co-op rather than team battles. Will be playing this off and on throughout the year as they do updates and friends want to play.

Game 22: Far Cry 4 - 42 hours - MAY 6
Started off strong but got super boring, what a tedious chore of a game at the end.

Game 23: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - 8 hours - MAY 14
A fun little puzzle game. I have seen some people lamenting the length and amount of content but I thought it was just right for the game type.

Game 24: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Season 3 - 62 hours - MAY 26
Calling it a wrap for the season. With so many other games I want to play right now and this season feeling lackluster I don't feel compelled to do much more. Since this season is lasting longer this time maybe I will revisit it again towards the end.

Game 25: Final Fantasy Recordkeeper - Too many hours - JUN 2 (Ongoing)
Finished all the current content in this game but I will be playing it as they keep releasing new content. This is really the only phone game I have enjoyed but that is probably more because of the nostalgia than it being a great game.

Game 26: Fallout Shelter - 5 hours - JUN 19
Played this until pretty much everyone in my vault died. Despite my Fallout fandom I can't see myself giving this one another go with the horribly clunky UI.

Game 27: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt - 105 hours - JUL 4
An incredibly long but ultimately fulfilling journey. I still don't love the combat but CDPR have done a great job creating a world you want to explore and learn more about. If they can bring the combat to the same level in future games then it will raise the bar for everyone.

Game 28: You Must Build A Boat - 9 hours - JUL 5
A great sequel to 10000000 that was just exactly more of what I wanted.

Game 29: Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward - 50 hours - JUL 8
Finished all of the currently available content. I was surprised how few endgame dungeons there ended up being so there wasn't much point continuing on after grinding all of them out.

Game 30: Final Fantasy XI - 97 hours - JUL 12
Finished the original storyline and moving onto the Zilart expansion now. I am really enjoying my nostalgia-fueled run-through of the game thanks to all of the changes to make the game more solo friendly in its twilight years.

Game 31: Bloodborne - 30 hours - JUL 26
Played through this again with a friend who just got a PS4. Did NG, NG+ and most Chalice Dungeons. Chalice Dungeons still suck.

Game 32: Final Fantasy XI: Rise of the Zilart - 50 hours - AUG 5
Finished up all of the Zilart missions and popped all the sky gods for old times sakes. I had a great time full of nostalgia on this expansion but looking forward to the new expansions that I have never seen now.

Game 33: Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan - 40 hours - AUG 16
I thought this was a pretty cool expansion, might come revisit some of the extra stuff here after I finish the other expansions up.

Game 34: Etrian Mystery Dungeon - 30 hours - SEP 14
Really liked the concept of this game on paper and the early levels lived up them. The later levels just became a tedious trudge though which is unfortunate.

Game 35: Destiny - 6 hours - SEP 17
Finished the base game of Destiny. Pretty underwhelmed so far even though on paper i should really be into this. Let's see what the expansion holds.

Game 36: Destiny: The Taken King - 10 hours - SEP 20
While the expansion was a great deal better than the base game I think Destiny just isn't for me. On paper I should love this game but it never managed to grab me.

Game 37: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - 95 hours - OCT 3
A little lighter on the story than I would have preferred from an MGS game but damn did it play well. Enjoyed almost all 95 hours I played.

Game 38: Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia - 30 hours - OCT 8
This expansion was fantastic despite a few mission dragging it down at the end. I imagine this must have been incredibly impressive when it first release. Still really enjoying the nostalgia trip with a few expansions left to go.

Game 39: Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power - 4 hours - OCT 11
A buggy and incomplete story made this game a pretty huge letdown. I hope if they continue with the series they scrap the 3d and go back to making solid, full-featured 2D games.

Game 40: Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess - 40 hours - OCT 19
I liked this expansion the least but still had a decent time left with it. Onwards to Seekers!

Game 41: Super Mario Maker - 10 hours - OCT 19
This one is just not for me. I don't particularly enjoy making courses and most of the ones that people make are either dumb autoscrolls, super easy or ridiculously hard. Hopefully Nintendo can do something to make discovery of good levels easier but until then putting this one on the shelf.

Game 42: Halo - 10 hours - OCT 24
Finally getting around to playing through the Master Chief Collection. Halo was just as good as my nostalgia-filled brain remembered it.

Game 43: Sword Coast Legends - 18 hours - NOV 1
This game was a great example of sounding great on paper with terrible execution. This boring, buggy mess of a game couldn't even be saved by co-op.

Game 44: Halo 2 - 8 hours - NOV 2
Another Halo wrapped up. Luckily we had less co-op bugs this time so it was a much more enjoyable co-op experience.

Game 45: Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin - 50 hours - NOV 4
I technically ave 4 missions left on this expansion (out of 50+) but I am not sure I can ever do them solo so I am calling this one a wrap. I really enjoyed it and hopefully with the final Rhapsodies chapter I will be able to finish the missions I was missing. If not, I will hit up Youtube and enjoy wrapping up the last of FFXI.

Game 46: Costume Quest - 7 hours - NOV 6
I didn't manage to finish this on Halloween but it was still close enough to feel like a seasonal game. I enjoyed the game a great deal as it captures the Halloween spirit quite well.

Game 47: Jazzpunk - 2 hours - NOV 8
I feel like this game was made by and for people who are high.

Game 48: Tales from the Borderlands: Episode 1 - 2 hours - NOV 8
Cool game so far despite not typically liking Telltale games. Looking forward to more episodes after I get some Fallout time in.

Game 49: Halo 3 - 8 hours - NOV 14
Holy shit this story was way worse than I remembered. It is pretty amazing how they took the cool concept of the original Halo and added all this ridiculous crap.

Game 50: Halo 3: ODST - 7 hours - NOV 22
Not a great game, especially for a Halo branded game. At least it was only $5...

Game 51: Final Fantasy XI: Rhapsodies of Vana'diel - 30 hours - NOV 22I don't have the very final boss down yet but calling this complete so I don't forget after I finally win. This was a fantastic way for the game to go out and I am happy I was here to see the end all these years later. I know a lot of the appeal of this game was nostalgia but man I had a good time.

Game 52: Bloodborne: The Old Hunters - 12 hours - NOV 28
Finished the DLC up today and I enjoyed it. A little more challenging than I expected jumping back into NG+3 after months off but it was a good time after knocking off the rust.

Game 53: Halo 4 - 11 hours - DEC 4
These games keep falling off in enjoyment for me with each successive entry, onward to Halo 5 regardless.

Game 54: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - Afterbirth - 111 hours - DEC 13
Despite some annoying balancing decisions and awful communication from the dev team I still managed to enjoy this DLC. I finished all the character unlocks and will probably finish the last couple of achievements as I play casually now.

Game 55: Halo 5: Guardians - 9 hours - DEC 17
Holy shit this was just a terrible game. Zero chance I play Halo 6. Hopefully Reach on BC will be a nice palette cleanser now.

Maybe again in the new year... Maybe...

I do have the ultimate sega genesis HD collection coming in the mail, so.... but do I really want to go through 52 games again...?

1. Super Time Force Ultra - 4 Hours
#Very charming game. Just the right amount of stupid for me. The dialogue never goes over the top with internet memes, except for maybe the future section which is fitting for that level, and the 8 bit artwork and color pallet are extremely well done. Great large roster of characters, each with their unique skill set. If you have some TIME on your hands and looking for a short dumb game this year, this may definitely be your jam (get ready for time puns every sentence).

2. Gears of War 3 ~7-9 Hours
#BITCH. SHIT. FUCK. Repeat for 7-9 hours. Gears of war is like those cigarette ads marketed towards children. The product is clearly not for children, but it's sense of humor much like those bubble gum flavor cigarettes is targeted towards androgen ingesting pre-teens. While the story was about as nuanced as a brick, shooting and chainsaw enemies can be pretty enjoyable. I thought the set pieces in Gears 2 were better, probably the best in the series. It was cool to finish the trilogy, especially buying the third game for $6, but I don't really have any desire to move forward with the series. If I want to shoot something or tear something in half with a chainsaw for a couple hours, then I may revisit one of the older games. The enemy design in this series was always notably cool to me.

3. JazzPunk - 2 Hours
#Had me laughing at its absurdity from start to finish. One of my favorite games that was released last year. It will be on my top 10 for that year.
Status: Beaten - 1/2/2015

4. Chrono Cross - 32 Hours 16 Minutes
#I thought it was a very worthy successor to Chrono Trigger. I loved the tropical Island setting and it had some amazing pre-rendered and sprite based environments. The large party roster was a little difficult to navigate, especially if you left important items/equipment on characters and switched them out of the party. I really enjoyed how they managed to tell a new story, but then incorporate a small plot point from Chrono Trigger to expand it into this epic sequel. It was a good way to spend my Christmas break. I'm glad I got to finish it before I head back to school on the 4th.
Status: Beaten - 1/3/2015

5. Metal Gear Rising: Revengence - 5 Hours 22 Minutes
#Really good action game, blocking is a tough skill to learn, and I never fully mastered it (I played on normal difficulty). The starts learning curve made me second guess the game, but my understanding of the mechanics improved after the wolf fight, and it became an extremely enjoyable romp. Terrible music. Great action. Stylized to hell. In a perfect world MGS would stick to Big Boss' and Raiden's stories and never return to Solid Snake.
Status: Beaten - 1/10/2015

6. The Legend of Spyro: Year of the Dragon
# I'm just glad I'm finished with this game. I played the first two last year, but set this one on hiatus. I think I've grown fatigued of the series. I still enjoyed them more than the Crash trilogy, but after the third game, the whole run around collecting jewels and the eggs/statues/main collectable became tiresome and more of a chore than fun. This one tried to mix it up with some new allies that you could control in special levels which was neat. I really enjoy Ratchet and Clank and I'm glad Insomniac went off to create that franchise.
Status: Beaten - 1/13/2015

7. Ristar
# It's a pretty charming game although I thought the stretch armstrong mechanic was a little fincky when trying to stretch in the diagonal direction. Cool boss battles and stage levels. It can the last two stages were pretty freaking tough and the final boss was a pain in the ass until I learned the technique to strike him a second before he hits you in with lightning.
Status: Beaten - 1/15/2015

8. Savant: Ascent - 2 hours
#Trying to clear up my Steam backlog a little. I got this game for free last year, and I just realized it is from the makers of Owlboy, an indie game that has been in development hell for years. It's okay, but I felt not being able to see the entire screen became a problem. The game is a twinstick shooter with a swarms of enemies on the screen. I did not expect the game to only be 3 levels either (2 more levels were added with the 'Void' expansion). The last two levels in the void expansion are infuriating, but it might just be because I'm not good at shooters. You don't actually have free range of movement in this game either. You can dodge left or right, but there are only a limited number of platforms you can stand on, usually 2.
Status: Beaten - 1/19/2015

9. The Unfinished Swan ~3 hours
# I went into this one blind (I got this on the Flash Sale for 4.95), not knowning anything about the game prior. When I first realized what the concept was which took probably a minute of walking around in white space, I was amazed. The first chapter was really really creative. The game changes from the original concept as it progresses, and while not as creative as that initial moment and realization of what was happening it is still fun. It's got a neat storybook quality that is great for young kids with some more adult themes that I think many will appreciate.
Status: Beaten - 1/24/2015

10. Pushmo - 14 hours 2 minutes
#I finished the main 198 puzzles and saw the credits; however, there are bonus puzzles that I will go back to later because this game was an amazing puzzle-platformer. It really got me thinking outside the box although I never was stumped on a single puzzle for very long. The average time it took for each puzzle was around 4.5 minutes. I enjoyed the mural puzzles the most. It continues to keep things fresh by adding on to the already established mechanics with ladders and pressure plates in the second half of the game, but it doesn't rely solely on these to make the puzzles tougher.
Status: Beaten - 1/26/2015

11. Lego Marvel Super Heroes
#Neat to have all these iconic Lego Marvel characters brought together to smash legos and roam around an open world hub of New York, but the gameplay can be extremely simple and yet there were times where I felt the objective of what I was suppose to hit/build/activate next was obscured. Also you can completely ignore button prompts at times; for example, I storm needed to charge a generated and the button prompt said to press square but pressing circle will also work. Co-Op is a genuine mess with a camera angle that actively rotates two screens around when players separate from each other and then merges into one when players are close to each other.
Status: Beaten - 1/29/2014

12. Comix Zone
#Jesus Christ! What a hard fucking game. It was almost impossible and the last boss with the like 3 minute time limit to save the girl! UGGGGGHHHH. The campaign is extremely short like ~30ish minutes if you don't die... which will happen countless times...
Status: Beaten - 1/30/2015

13. Ballpoint Universe - 5 hours
#Really neat graphical design, but has some really poor platforming controls, character is very slippery. The core aspect of the game however is a vertical SHUMP, like R-Type. It was fairly easy and the ship has a lot of upgrades and additional parts to customize. The final level had a pretty tough end boss.
Status: Beaten - 2/1/2015

14. Primordia - 6 hours
# Really nice adventure game. Great story. Crispin, the robot side-kick, gives great hints at to what to do next, a problem the plaques most adventure games. I only had to consult a guide a few times. I thought the voice acting was well done as well.
Status: Beaten - 2/9/2015

15. Nidhogg - 41 minutes 58 second
#Really neat competitive game. I didn't have anyone to play with, so I just went through the brisk single player. I can see it being really fun for local co-op with when friends are in town. Because the single player was completed, I'm still counting it as finished. It does take a while to get use to the fencing mechanic although it's simple.
Status: Beaten - 2/9/2015

16. Pokemon Omega Ruby - 19 hours
#Mixed feelings about the remake of my favorite generation. They've streamlined everything a bit too much to the point of fast traveling to the next area for narrative purposes and condensing areas like caves into only 2-3 rooms. The game now has an epilogue, Delta Episode, that gives some exposition to Rayquaza's role in Hoenn; however, it results in a 3 hour back and forth goose chase between Rustboro and Sootopolis that's punctuated by dialogue. Pokemon is a series that is starting to continuously disappoint me; maybe it's time I take a break from it.
Status: Beaten - 2/15/2015

17. Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack - 2 hours
#I got it through a humble bundle a few months ago, but didn't have much interest in it until Kifimbo wrote about completing it. I had no clue it was made by Drinkbox (the Gucamelee developers) which piqued my interest in it. It's actually a very nice simple platformer.
Status: Beaten - 2/17/2015

18. Ultimate Doom - 6 hours
# Most of my time spent playing Doom was wandering around corridors that looked identical trying to figure out where to go. There's a picture that is posted continuously on message board showing the difference in design of FPS maps from the 90's and modern FPS maps. The picture is suppose to make you feel contempt for modern gaming and it's linearity, but having finally played Doom it makes me relieved that I don't have to wander around aimless in a game that's suppose to be about running and gunning. Exploration aside, the running and gunning is pretty well done using a comibation of manual targeting on the X axis and auto-targeting enemies that are on the Y axis.
Status: Beaten - 3/1/2015

19. Castle Crashers - 5 hours
#I really enjoyed Alien Hominid on the gamecube, and I have been meaning to jump back into a Behemoth game for some time now (I just never had the proper means to do so). I finally got a wired 360 controller for my PC last christmas, so I decided now was a perfect time to sit down and finish this game. Still really charming hand-drawn art and silly crass humor. Enjoyed the beat-em-up aspects although there was some grind involved in some levels due to the leveling system. I didn't play co-op which I think would make the experience even better although one thing I noticed was that local co-op would have started new players out with a low level character which would create some disparity when placed next to high level character.
Status: Beaten - 3/4/2015

20. BattleBlock Theater - 8 hour
#BattleBlock Theater embraces the nonsense that are most videogame stories by creating levels that don't really follow the narrative style of the story and by creating a narration that relies solely non-sequiturs and internet humor that reminds me of Waterman Studios, Puppets in the Park. The good thing though is that the internet humor doesn't rely on already established memes or jokes to create hilarity. The game play is a platformer where you're transported to levels made of blocks to collect gems and make it to the exit; the difficulty ramped up around World 7 for me. Oh, also the collectible heads that you can customize you character with are amazing. Co-Op is really fun too.
Status: Beaten - 3/11/2015

21. Guacamelee! Gold Edition - 5 hours
#Guacamelee was extremely charming. I feel it's a perfect example in the argument of why there should be more diversity in games. It feels as if Drinkbox, a Toronto based developer, wanted to celebrate another culture in the best way possible. The game is filled with vibrant colors, ancient Mexican temple architecture, and other assets of Mexican culture culminating into a gorgeous work. The player is in control of a Mexican Luchador in a Metroid Style tough as nails platformer; the game towards the end gets extremely difficult.
Status: Beaten - 3/12/2015

22. Full Bore -10 hours
#The game is a combination between a pushing tile puzzle game (box puzzles), a metroidvania, and a digger (DigDug-esque). The game gives you an obscure goal, and you're let loose to wander, solve puzzles, and stumble your way through mazes of boxes to find the next objective. The game grew on me once I looked up area maps and figured out, through a Faqs, what my objectives should be other than collecting gems and where those main narrative objectives were located. Puzzles can be extremely challenging. While it grew on me towards the end, I still didn't have the desire to 100% the game by finding all the doors, gems, shrines, dark orbs, and log books. I made it to the final boss (the only boss in the game) and decided to put it down. It still took 10 hours to get there and I had about 50% of the collectibles at that point. I think it would be cool to finish up the puzzles at some point in time and I'm sure others would really dig the game, but there's only so much time one can spend when you have a large backlog and you're doing challenges like these. The pixel art was really well designed although it sometimes create confusion about what boxes/dirt can be broken.

23. Super House of Dead Ninja - 1 hour 33 minutes
#While there is another ending by beating the game on Hard (no extra bosses though) and a secret optional tower with two more bosses which is unlocked with a special item, I think beating this super fast paced super tough action game on normal is fine. Really cool boss and enemy designs and a really good sense of speed.
Status: Beaten - 3/15/2015

24. Half-Life ~11 hours
#I've played Half-Life 2, but I still had a void in video game history from never playing Half-Life. The game has been sitting in my Steam backlog for a couple years now. I had originally started it when I bought it 3 years ago, but 20 minutes in I got extremely nauseous and put it down. I picked it up again last weekend, and I felt the same way about an hour into the game, but after that hump I think I grew accustomed to it and the feeling faded (I've gotten nauseous during Metroid Prime and Back before). Outside of some weird slippery platforming and some odd electronic music choices, the game is a masterpiece and I can see why many people cite it as one of the most influential games in the medium. It looked and felt great (outside of the occasional floating platform jumps) which is something that cannot be said for many 'masterpieces' of a bygone era. I think I prefer the Black Mesa compound setting over Half-Life 2's more sprawled areas as well. It just felt like a tighter more cohesive place although I suppose it's a marvel that Half-Life 2 is so large from what I remember.

25. The Novelist - 2 hours
# It was a nice narrative with some good choices and consequences. It's kind of a sombering experience.[/B]
Status: Beaten - 3/29/2015

26. NOBY NOBY BOY - 1 or 2 hours
# I guess I finished what could be finished in NOBY NOBY BOY although I'm not sure I accomplished anything.... Also I really dig the space squirrel.
Status: Beaten - 4/25/2015

27. Mega Man X4 - 5-10 hours
# I don't have much experience with Mega Man outside of ZX on the DS, but they're pretty difficult until you find out the bosses weakness. X4 had really short stages and basically felt like a boss rush. Final Boss was definitely challenging even with all the upgrades.
Status: Beaten - 4/28/2015

28. Rock of Ages ~ 5 hours
# Although it's a short game, the initial charm erodes rather quickly.
Status: Beaten - 5/9/2015

29. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 7 hours 56 min
# Yep! This is an amazing game! I'm glad I finally got the chance to play it. The only problem was that I thought it was a little bit on the easy and short side. It's easy to see how influential this game was on the rest of the series. The backdash shield cancel is a really great way to get around the long corridors, I'm glad I watched the archived giantbomb big live show which showed me that trick today.
Status: Beaten - 5/10/2015

30. Eldritch - 3 hours
# First person rouge-like dungeon crawler with a minecraft block aesthetic. I really enjoyed it! I took 40 retries and my final run lasted 44 minutes and 28 seconds. That final level was extremely crazy they invert the exits and they load the maze with tons of enemies, I was just running like a mad man away from everything.
Status: Beaten - 5/11/2015

31. Typing of the Dead: Overkill - 3 hours
# I thought the game's Grindhouse Presentation was a perfect aesthetic for an already cheesy series. I'm not sure whether the lightgun game or the typing game is the better of the two variations; I can see drawbacks to the keyboard version, but it's still a lot of fun typing random words, especially when a lot of words are in the same tongue and cheek tone of the game. I thought the cutscenes were pretty hilarious, especially the ending one. It's the first game to be cleared from my steam backlog after building my new computer last week. It feels good.[/B]

32. Transistor - 4 hours
# Beautiful game. I enjoyed the setting and story more than Bastion. I thought it was very cool, and it had a neat combat system.
Status: Beaten - 5/25/2015

33. MIND: Path to Thalamus - 4 horus
# If you enjoyed Dear Esther, Gone Home, or Myst then you might want to check out MIND: Path to Thalamus. It takes you across a lot of bizarre but beautiful environment and has you solve some environmental puzzles, so it's not just about taking in the view if you need something to solve other than taking in the sights. The narrative is okay, but voice acting and script could have used a little work.

34. OlliOlli - 18 hours
# Intense. I unlocked all the Pro levels, and I went through all the Pro Levels completing all but one challenge on world 5-3.... 50 spins... Jesus Christ.... I'm gonna have to call it quits and be happy with making it to pro and getting through those levels. Really fun game that hooked me for a lot longer than most games, but now I'm in the mode for something that's not so arcade-y. The game really does wonders for the all but dead skate boarding genre though, and I would definitely check out OlliOlli2 some point in the future, maybe when it hits HumbleBundle.

35. NaissancE - 3 hours
# This was a pretty intense experience. Not in terms of gameplay, but in terms of architecture and sound design. It reminded me of films like Beyond the Black Rainbow which I'm wondering if they took inspiration from. It was extremely creepy even though there was no reason for it to be. There were a few frustrating puzzles and points where I wasn't sure where to go next although that should be expected as you're basically traveling a giant labyrinth.
Status: Beaten - 5/31/2015

36. Fly'N - 8 hours
# Really nice art style and character design that is marred by some really annoying platforming mechanics (like turning into a ball and bouncing while trying to do precision platforming
Status: Beaten - 6/6/2015

37. Race the Sun - 4 hours
# I maxed my ship to level 25. The game is an endless runner as you race against a setting sun in your solar powered ship dodging obstacles and collecting combo multipliers and power ups. You have three different tiered objectives which give you experience point and upon completing an objective that tier is replaced with another objective to complete. It was pretty fun. I do enjoy the occasional endless runner.
Status: Beaten - 6/6/2015

38. Valiant Hearts - 6 hours
# Beautifully drawn haunting story that is highlighted by a classical music score and historical notes about the period. The game has it all except the gameplay which is extremely light. It switches between running in a straight line dodging bomb shadows to scavanger hunts to car chase scenes. Despite the somewhat boring gameplay the story shines through and leaves the player with many heartbreaking moments.
Status: Beaten - 6/7/2015

39. Super Meat Boy - 13 hours
# Many profanities were spouted. This was one of the first games I bought when I created a steam account, and I've been chipping away at it for 3 years. I actually only had the last light world level of the main 6 worlds left. It took quite awhile to finally have the muscle memory to do it which is the basic way to complete the game, muscle memory. It's an excellent platformer, ranking up there with the all time greats, but I just don't have it any me to dive into the dark world or even Bandage's Girls world. I got "The End" achievement and saw a credit screen, so I'm ticking this one off. I'm walking away satisfied yet also frustrated.

40. Octodad: The Dadliest Catch - 1 hour 45 minutes
#Pretty silly.
Status: Beaten - 6/14/2015

41. Metro 2033 Redux - 7 hours
# For some reason I was thinking the Metro franchise was a bit more open ended. Although it wasn't what I expected, it had a neat short cinematic campaign, and the redux version looked gorgeous.
Status: Beaten - 6/17/2015

42. Please, Don't Touch Anything - 2 hours
# It's a button that leads to more buttons that leads to different end scenarios. Unfortunately, the clues to get to the next set of buttons can be too esoteric. Each ending is pretty neat, but while you may have most of the clues on the screen at the start, you don't have all the buttons on your panel to connect the dots that these clues go with these set of buttons. I think it's a unique experience, but I kind of ruined the confusion part of it by just using a guide. It has a lot of Papers, Please influence of multiple endings and art style. Pope was even thanked in the credits.
Status: Beaten - 6/20/2015

43. Shovel Knight - 5 hours 14 minutes
# Really great retro platformer drawing inspiration from Megaman's Robot Masters. The pixel art is beautiful and the platforming was great. I can't wait to see what Yacht Club Games does next.
Status: Beaten - 6/21/2015

44. Spec-Ops: The Line - 5 hours
# Spec-Ops felt like a mediocre shooter with an interesting twist on the military shooter campaign. I did enjoy some of the vibrant locals and graffiti on the wall and it was short enough to not become too much of a grind. It does some interesting things narratively, but I think it's held a little too highly on a pedestal.
Status: Beaten - 6/22/2015

45. Never Alone - 2 hours 40 minutes
# Really unique game featuring Native American mythology. Fairly short but it's definitely worth a playthrough. The game industry is really starting to diversify in development teams, and Never Alone is one of the benefits of a more diverse atmosphere.

After failing terribly in my attempt last year, I do at least have quite a few "in progress" games so this year will be a different story… maybe…

1. Fire Emblem Awakening - 3DS
Completed 18/01/2015
My first Fire Emblem game and it won't be my last. I played through the game on classic/normal however I did reset whenever a character died. By the end of the game it had become quite easy but for the most part it was a decent challenge for a beginner to the series - if I was to play through again or a different fire emblem entry though I'd stay true to the classic mode and not reset after each death. The support conversations were fun, helped by the entertaining cast of characters.
I married Tharja.
I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone considering it.

As the #9 finisher from last year, I want Top 10 finish again

Game #1 Beaten: Sonic 1 Megamix (Genesis) - 3 Hours
(Started and Finished 1/1/15)

An interesting remake of Sonic 1 that makes it really hard and full of traps. The trick? Get the chaos emeralds cause Sonic's super form was added and you can cost through after that. The Dark Fortress Zone though is horrible.

Game #2 Beaten: Pocky & Rocky (SNES) - At least 6 Hours
(Started December 15th 2014 / Finished January 1st 2015)

This was not a good game. I wouldn't have even finished it if the game wasn't so kind about continues. Really annoying patterns and plays like a coin guzzler arcade game which I later read it was.

TkeJIIX.jpg

Game #3 Beaten: Outland (XBLA) - 4 Hours
(Started April 2011 / Finished January 2nd 2015)

This was not the game for me! It hurt my eyes, I disliked the upgrades, the bosses drove me insane for the wrong reasons, the story was nonsense, and ....I liked the art. Yeah so there is that I guess.

Game #4 Beaten: Child of Light (Vita) - 15 Hours?
(Started December 17th 2014 / Finished January 5th 2015
)
So who would have thought that the killer new IP from Ubisoft in 2014 would be Child of Light? A killer RPG with a fantastic characters, art direction, amazing soundtrack, writing, and a world of lore to digest. I want more Ubisoft. You accidentally made a magical magical game.

Game Beaten #5 Gone Home (PC) - 90 Minutes
(Started/Finished 1/5/15)

Forget the fact this isn't really much of a game and instead a house exploration game. I learned that nobody that worked on this game actually ever has been inside a house. What this game nails is the eeriness of an empty home in a thunder storm, and it nails that mid 1990s feel. I enjoyed looking through their VCR tapes and 90s things that wouldn't be around today or the fact they don't even own a computer in this house. Most of the game is about you coming home and nobody is there so you decide to turn on every light, trash the place, and ignore the warnings of basically death storms outside!

Game Beaten #6 Goof Troop (SNES) - 4/5 Hours
(Started/Finished 1/6/15)

Saw the speedrun on AGDQ and got inspired to finally beat this. Took me all afternoon though lol. Not a bad game just extremely cruel with instant deaths everywhere.

Game Beaten #7 Felix The Cat (NES) - 2 Hours
(Started/Finished 1/13/15)

Simple, fun, easy platformer. Not much too it.

Game Beaten #8 80 Days (Android) - 4 Hours
(Started/Finished 1/14/15)

This was a really interesting choose your own adventure game. It's easily the lengthiest CYOA ever made and the options it gives you really shape not just what happens to your character but what you see as well. There is a lot of choice left to the user and it works. The game is about traveling around the world in 80 Days, you are the man servant of Fogg the guy who made the bet he could travel the world in 80 Days. Fogg really doesn't do much, and has very little interest in exploring the cities you go to or talking to really anyone. He even is rather cold to you for awhile. He leaves getting information and arguably the best part of this journey, meeting the people of the world to you. There are rare instances where he pipes up and suddenly takes interest in the journey, and it is quite surprising after 4 real life hours of him not caring.

The other great thing about this game is if you really read everything going on and don't rush through choices you do get a complete story of adventures around the world. The route is completely up to you. The world is like ours except if Artificers (See Engineers) have been making robots that can act on free will and live among us (usually peacefully). This steampunk world also lends itself to non-traditional vehicles like cities that walk from place to place.

My first journey was going great until I decided to go south from New Orleans, my ship was then hijacked and we were robbed. The problem? I no longer could withdraw money from banks because there were no banks. I found myself going through South America and Africa begging the last leg home. I made it at 110 Days, well past 80. My second trip we went North and then I just kept going to the North Pole, and then looped back around to London in 47 days. I was stunned I survived this one as it was easily the most dangerous of my two journeys.

Game Beaten #9 Suikoden II (PS1) - 33 Hours
(Started 1/5 / Finished 1/21)

I was honestly concerned this game wouldn't be too good. Suikoden 1 was good but extremely unpolished and I hated the battle system. This game was so much better. The characters felt fleshed out, the game never felt unfinished, and even the horrible war battles had become so much better. Luca Blight is one of the most terrifying villains in an RPG I've ever seen, and the battle to defeat him defines epic. I like the way the story turned out, and I'm 2/2 on collecting all the stars of destiny (yay).

Fo5Un6R.jpg

Game Beaten #10 Watch_Dogs (X360)
(Started 12/13 / Finished 1/24)

My feelings are extremely mixed on this one. There are brilliant aspects such as the Online Tailing, it has good shooting, and some good concepts. The problems? The driving is absurdly bad, the main character is a generic protagonist with mixed signals for character motivation, the game has lots of random side stuff that feels tacked on instead of being a part of the city, and the missions are really bad. There are only really four mission types that repeat endlessly. 1.Don't Be Seen or don't let the escort be seen but you can kill people as long as you stand outside the 'red area' with a sniper rifle, 2.Take a car down, 3.Play Pipe Dream and hack into something 4.Kill everybody

The fixer contracts represent most of this and what isn't represented there is in gang hideouts and criminal convoys. The game can feel maddening when you play too much of it.

And yet, there is something here. There is something that gives me faith a sequel could be fantastic. The blocks are there, they just need that Assassin's Creed 1 to 2 jump in quality.

Game Beaten #11: Resogun (PSN) - 3 Hours
(Started 1/24/15 - Finished 1/25/15)

This was a lot of fun for a shmup game. I understand why this game was so beloved on PS4. The wrap around stages are brilliant visually and mechanically. I feel like some of the save human opportunities are weirdly BS though. A few times a human in danger flashed for a second then immediately died before I even saw the glowing enemies on the stage. Still a great game.

J1nOX5J.jpg

Game Beaten #12 Monopoly Deal (XBLA) - A lot of time
(Started 1/21/15 - Finished 1/26/15)

This game was really fun surprisingly. A trading card game version of Monopoly doesn't sound very appealing but it totally works. Finished the achievement set tonight so marking this as beat.

YiTS357.jpg

Game Beaten #13 Watch_Dogs: Bad Blood (X360) - 10 Hours
(Started 1/26/15 - Finished 1/28/15)
This was very very glitchy but actually way better than the original game. Easy reason? This game has a protagonist with personality! T-Bone has a character history, quirks, and other elements that make him more of a human than Aiden Pierce. The main campaign was only 10 missions but it offered a bunch of variety to the campaign the vanilla game lacked.

dmqUPaG.jpg

Game Beaten #14 Bushido Blade (PS1) - 30 minutes
(Started and Finished 2/2/15)

Beat the game with all characters. I see why people said the Deadliest Warrior titles were Bushido Blade games. Honestly I think they both are kinda terrible. The entire game can be summed up as run at opponent spamming triangle the game.

1moLmJ7.jpg

Beaten Game #15 Digimon All-Star Rumble (X360) - 2 Hours
(Started and Finished 2/3/15)

This is a fighting game that wants to be a bad 3D brawler. I think Namco-Bandai got confused when making the game. It is pretty shallow, feels extremely rushed and the game can be thrown in the category of press X to win.

BT1X3an.jpg

Beaten Game Beaten #16 Gunman Clive (3DS) - 46 Minutes
(Started and Finished 2/9/15)

This is an excellent $2 pickup from the 3DS shop. It only lasts an hour roughly but it pulls a nice fast one on you by
switching gears from cowboy western to full on mega man.

0GfuBt4.jpg

Beaten Game #17 Rogue Legacy (Vita) - 15 Hours
(Started 2/3/15 / Finished 2/12/15)

Beaten at 199 Heirs! The game has a lot of potential for a sequel because it really didn't exhaust any idea. It only uses a few traits positive or negative that heirs can receive, you can do a lot more easily with classes and abilities as well. A very fun game though and very unique.

a2IoJeV.jpg

Beaten Game #18 Bang Bang Racing (XBLA) - 4 Hours
(Started 6/17/12 / Finished 2/13/15)

This is like Super Sprint or Racing Gears Advance.. It is a top down slot car looking racing game. There aren't any weapons and the Bang Bang in the title oddly refers to the barrels that can explode in races. You can also light oil slicks on fire with nitro if you want. Right amount of challenge and a very smooth camera. A winner for arcade racing fans.

m0UyPIE.jpg

Beaten Game #19 Elements of Destruction (XBLA) - 2 Hours
(Started 2/3/15 - Finished 2/18/15)

Weird game. You play as a mad scientist out to destroy the world. The game is like Blast Corps + Populus god mode destruction stuff. Very very short game.

V5jj1uv.jpg

Beaten Game #20 Mighty Gunvolt (3DS) - 2 Hours
(Started & Finished 2/24/15)

Beaten with Beck from Mighty No. 9. The game is a pretty neat little throwback to classic Mega Man. It took me awhile to appreciate Beck's weird dash into people.

EGOeNHm.png

Beaten Game #21 Mario Tennis Advance: Power Tour (GBA) - 20 Hours
(Started 1/2/15 / Finished 2/25/15)

Been working on this off and on for almost 2 entire months. Finally went and finished the single player campaign championship. The tennis is good but the super power ability shots make this kinda lame. The GBC game was hands down better.

5gyW7zh.jpg

Beaten Game #22 Tales of Xillia (PS3) - 70 Hours
(Started 1/30/15 / Finished 2/26/15)

This was a blast! I haven't seriously played a Tales game since Phantasia in 2006 or 2007. As much as I enjoyed this, I need a break before trying Xillia 2, because too much of the same RPG is kinda killer. My only gripes with this game are the relatively boring open areas of wilderness, the missable stuff piles up fast, and there really wasn't a final dungeon...at all. The cast is enjoyable although one character makes my Hall of Fame of JRPG characters the party should have just strangled halfway through the game.

1D7nfwV.jpg

Game Beaten #23 Fez (PSN) - 5 Hours
(Started 3/2/15 / Finished 3/8/15)

This was a lot easier for a second time around the spinning world of Gomez. When you know about anticubes and understand the language you can coast thru the game instead of having to rely on gold cubes. I still love the visuals, the soundtrack, and spinning the world. Really the biggest issue I have with Fez is it just leaves you to die, and doesn't bother to provide any help. It's both a great and terrible throwback to the NES era.

6LJnnPL.jpg

Game Beaten #24 Mario Party: Island Tour (3DS) - 5 Hours
(Started 2/27/15 / Finished 3/8/15)

Wow uh this was a weird experience! I haven't played much Mario Party since the N64 days but the DS version had traditional play. This game just had boards that were a series of races and an extremely boring single player mode with no challenge. The minigames themselves are pretty good too, a shame they screwed this up.

eNCl51P.jpg

Game Beaten #25 Sonic the Hedgehog 06 (X360) - Centuries
(Started Millions of Years Ago / Finished 3/10/15)

It isn't the worst thing I've played but it certainly is a broken mess. I died so many times from spawning on stages, in the automatic bumper sections, or after hitting a boss then falling into an abyss during times I'm supposed to be safe.

The game looks like garbage but I'll give them credit on the CGI scenes, and the music is pretty good. There are lots of good ideas with the stages but nothing is executed well. This is a game that needed 1 more year of development...maybe 2 and it could have been the Sonic Adventure 3 we actually wanted! Also the box quest and its loading was the only time I felt it got really obnoxious with the loading times.

Shadow actually controls pretty well and his campaign isn't as much of a lost cause compared to Sonic or Silver... so hear me out, I think this may have started as Shadow the Hedgehog 2 and that might explain why Shadow barely visits Soleanna compared to the other two and why his campaign actually seems like a decent game.

PS. The Sonic 06 rap in the credits made my ears bleed

Q5uduiE.jpg

Game Beaten #26 CounterSpy (PSN) - 5 Hours
(Started 3/2/15 / Finished 3/10/15)

This was the case of giving me a tease of Shadow Complex's style but not really capitalizing on it. The game drags on towards the later half of the game to the point I was just happy it ended. Not getting seen in a mission also feels damn impossible.

CiaMHW5.jpg

Game Beaten #27 Titan Attacks! (PSN) - 4 Hours
(Started 12/3/14 / Finished 3/10/15)

I got all the way up to the last world Titan but couldn't beat the final boss months earlier but last night just loaded it up and killed it. The game reminds me of Space Invaders with the upgrade philosophy of Jetpack Joyride.

Game 1: Monument Valley - 1:15
Very short and simple Echochrome like puzzler. Rating: 2/5

Game 2: Bayonetta 2 - 10 hours
Great start and finish. Loki made me take a break from the game. Rating: 4/5

Game 3: Where's my Water? - 8 hours
Perfect tablet game with tons of levels. Rating: 5/5

Game 4: Gravity Rush - 12 hours
Loved the setting. Combat is really simple though hitting airborne enemies can be annoying. Rating: 4/5

Game 5: The Fall - 3 hours
Point and Click with action elements and a cool sci-fi story. 4/5

Game 6: Lost Planet 3 - 14 hours
Gameplay is a little bland but driving a huge mech with your custom soundtrack is hype. 3/5

Game 7: Tearaway
Cute. 3/5

Game 8: Saints Row: Gat outta Hell - 9 hours
Missing the charm of previous Saint's Rows but flying around collecting agility orbs is really fun. 3/5

Game 9: Dying Light - 40 hours
Characters are unlikable. Combat starts off really tense but by the end of the game I could just one shot anything. Also, you can drop kick zombies off of roofs. 4/5

Game 10: Captain Toad - 8 hours
Game 11: Grow Home - 5 hours
Game 12: 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand - 6 hours

Claimed. Maybe I will actually finish games this year.

Game 1: NekoPara vol. 1 - 2 hours - PC / finished on the 3rd of January
Cute, but short Kinetic Novel. I played the steam version doesn't include sex scenes.

Game 2: Shovel Knight - 10 hours - PC / finished on the 9th of January
Very cool game. The final fight frustrated me for a whole day, it was all in all a very satisfying game with awesome graphics, gameplay and level design. Super fun, I can understand the hype.

Game 3: If My Heart Had Wings - 13 hours - PC / finished one route on the 8th of January
(1) Finished Ageha Route on the 8th of January. Was pretty awesome, even if there was actually too much Sex at the end. Seriously I was in for the story. -10 hours-
(2) Finished Kotori Route in the 15th of January. This was vastly superior to the Ageha Route. The story felt more complete, the drama rollercoaster was great and Kotori was a lot more pleasant over the course of the events then Ageha in her route. Still a tad too much sex, but it was better implemented. Very enjoyable. -3 add. hours-

Game 4: Hexcells - 2 (+1) hours - PC / finished on the 19th of January
I failed to perfect 3 levels of World 6 because my brain started to melt, but I finished everything and perfected all others. It was a strangely fun and worthwhile game. I will look forward in buying Hexcells Plus and Infinite - when my brain is working again, of course.
Perfected on the 20th of January, adding an additional hour.

Game 5: HuniePop - 8 (+3) hours - PC / finished on the 20th of January
Started fun, with the silly dialogs and the functional gameplay. It got really stale later on, when I maxed all stats out while the win threshold just kept growing and no real end for the game in sight. I wanted to collect all items, but this was impossible because I had to rely on chance to get lots of potential 4 pairs to survive a date. It was an interesting concept, but apparently not thought to it's end.
edit: Finished all twelve girls dates and CGs on the 21th of January

Game 6: Hexcells Plus - 6 (+5) Hours - PC / finished on the 22th of January
Mah brains are mush. Have yet to perfect all levels, but mah thinking seems broken right now. Head ouch ouch
edit: Perfected the all levels on the 23th of January

Game 7: Within Without - 4 Minutes - PC / finished on the 23th of January
Approved by Knurek.

Game 8: Hexcells Infinite - 7 hours - PC / finished on the 25th of January
Perfected the campaign, but going to use the generator at least until I get the last Achievement. Somehow this game was easier to me than Plus, but maybe Plus just slapped my brain into the right place.

Game 9: Life is Strange - 7 hours - PC / in progress
Episode 1 finished on the 30th of January. Wonderful game so far. Love style, gameplay and story.
Episode 2 finished on the 24th of May
Episode 3 finished on the 25th of May

Game 10: Darkest Dungeon

Game 11: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth 1 - 25 (+19) hours - PC / finished on the 13th of February
Got the normal ending, but have yet to gain the perfect one and all the candidates.
Got the perfect ending plus most of the achievements (93%) in 6 hours of more farming.
That game was honestly more busywork than fun, but it was entertaining while watching Gintama.
Completed all achievements with additional 13 hours and another season of Gintama.

Game 12: Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires - 8 hours - PC / finished on the 28th of February
It's a bit difficult with this game, but I not down the first time I beat the Empire Mode, even if it was on easy. I am going to do a lot more runs on higher difficulties now. I just wanted to have this noted before I forget.

Game 13: Anime Studio Story - ? hours - Android / finished on the 04th of March
I love Kairosoft and while this was a bit too simplistic and close to GameDev Story (which really shouldn't the case after all the games inbetween), it was fun nonetheless. Sadly I can't say how long it took since there is nothing to track time and I always played when there was a small window of time.

Game 14: Cities: Skylines - 28 hours - PC / "finished" on the 14th of March
It's not the kind of game one can finish, but I got every single achievement and build two metropolis size cities. Next up are mods and playing around, then waiting for DLCs.

Game 15: The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings - 20 hours - PC/finished on the 18th of May
Rushed it, and only played one route in preparation of Witcher 3. It was fun, although I REALLY lament the fact that you can't jump.

Game 16: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2 Sisters Generation - 9 hours - PC/finished on the 31th of May
Normal Ending - 31th of May
Conquest Ending - 1st of June
Lowee Ending - 2nd of June
Planeptune Ending - 2nd of June
True Ending - 2nd of June
Leanbox Ending - 2nd of June
Human Ending - 2nd of June
Lastation - 3nd of June
Holy Sword Ending - 3rd of June

Game : The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Game : Adventure Capitalist

Game : AKIBA's TRIP: Undead & Undressed

Game: Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds

Game: Higurashi When They Cry - Ch.1 Onikakushi

Game : A Story About My Uncle

Game : There Came an Echo

Game : Sakura Angels - in progress -

Game : Blade Kitten - in progress -

I need to tackle this backlog. Good luck gaffers.

Game 1: Farcry 4 13 hours PS4 *January 1st*
Started this late in 2014. The visuals in in this game are breathtaking. Every now and then, I would stop and just look at the mountains. Note to self: Try the alternative ending.

Game 2: Limbo ~3 hours Vita *Jan 10th*
Brought my Vita for an easy night shift. The mood and the puzzles was awesome. I'm not so sure what to think of the ending.

Game 3: Child of Light ~8 hours PS4 -> Remote Play Vita *Jan 11th*
I didn't know a thing about this game except the rhyming, which I didn't mind at all. The sibling duo definitely livened up the mood of the game. The music is spot on and really adds to the vibe of the game. I didn't care much for the flying around and collecting, and I definitely wish there was at least three members to control per fight. I definitely recommend this game to anyone needing a break from the recent FPS games, and diving into a decent story.

Game 4: Dragon Age Inquisition ~42 Hours PS4 *Feb 9th*
About 2 hours in, I regret making a Quanri because for certain cutscenes, my character was too tall and often would be cut out of the picture. Banged Cassandra. That first dragon fight in the desert was pretty amazing. Remember that Jar of Bees is pretty OP for that fight. I want to replay this using another character and going all in on nightmare mode, but I don't have another 40 plus hours to drop on this.

Game 5: Transistor ~6 hours PS4 *Feb 11th*
The music in this game is unreal. I think it might be worth another playthrough now that I got a hang of things. It might have been my mood for that night, but I was getting slightly irritated with the man's voice towards the end of the game.

Game 6: The Order: 1886 ~8 hours PS4 *March 1st*
Throughout the playthrough, I kept thinking, when does this game start to suck? The reviews completely ripped apart this game. I really enjoyed the visuals and the decrease in loading times. The guns weren't that impressive and I think they could have spent a little more time on that. As for the playtime, I platinumed this game in under 8 hours and I still think this was worth it. Although, I did get this for $18 dollars which included the collectors.

Game 7: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ~10 hours PS4 *March 1st*
Finished the last 3 missions of this game after finishing The Order. The storyline is fantastic. I did appreciate the leveling up between missions, and how you could customize your suit before each mission. Unlike Black Ops, you didn't have to replay the game a few times to get different endings, which I like.

Game 8: Dying Light 15 hours PS4 *March 6th*
I started playing online and joined someone who was extremely helpful, and even gave me a bunch of loot. We progressed through the game together up to the second last chapter. As for the game, I loved the atmosphere of being almost helpless during the night. I may have been extremely lucky playing with a group of decent guys online. It was everyone's first playthrough. I imagine like I was in the game, where I met a group of strangers attempting to be polite just to survive.

Also, I believe a new update came out with a few fixes and even a new mode. Might have to try this out.

Game 9: Valiant Hearts: The Great War *March 9th*
I love the trophies for this game. 1. Some will survive. 2. ...some will not.

Game 10: Battlefield Hardline *April 8th*
Battlefield is not known for it's single player. Unfortunately, Hardline did not change that.

Game 11: Destiny
After a really good friend picked up a PS4, I decided to play Destiny all over again. This time, I went all in and did the DLCs and raids. Even achieved Gjalla. No desire to play it now.

Game 12: Journey *July 21st*
Never played the PS3 version. I decided to not even read up on Journey prior to playing this, and I had a really good time with it. Played with 3 companions throughout my journey. That scene with the large flying snakes chasing you was pretty intense.

Game 13: AC Unity *July 29th*
I didn't encounter any bugs. CO-OP is useless.

Game 14: AC Unity Dead Kings *July 30th*

Game 15: Wolfenstein: The Old Blood *August 10th*

Game 16: Everybody's Gone to the Rapture *August 11th*
Extremely slow paced but if you listen to the storylines, it's worth the experience.

Game 17: GTA V *May 17th* Forgot to add this

I've decided to try something a bit different than originally planned and do this all on my phone (android). I think it'll be a great way for me to explore what the play store has to offer and hopefully introduce other gaffers to some quality mobile games.

Well I failed 2014, but Im game again to try again this year. Hopefully I do better.

Game 1: Xenoblade - Now playing - 20 hours into the game
Been wanting to play this through for a long time but always got sidetracked. Restarted now that I got a Wii U. This time I will get through it.

Game 2: Wolfenstein The New Order - Completed - about ten hours
Really well done single player fps. Quite enjoyed it.

Game 3: Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara - Completed - many hours
Always wanted to play this and yet even though I had it for a while now never got to it. Great action game. Will go back to it for some more play I'm sure in the future.

Game 4: The Order 1886 - Completed - around 8 hours
Honestly, liked what I played, but I would've like to see the game have less QTEs. Still enjoyed it quite a bunch.

Well, can't hurt to try, right?

Let's see how far I can get on this challenge.

Game 1: Suikoden I - Around 20 hours, January 14th
GAF's hype got me. And I loved it! Took a while to finish it because I wanted all 108 stars, so I needed to consult a FAQ and go back some save points because I screwed up.

Game 2: Mass Effect, 18 hours, February 19th
After more than a month I finally finished my second game in the year. Since I'm playing so many RPGs, it's kinda of hard to keep track of them and have time to play them. I didn't like the game much at the beginning but after a while it got much better and overall I actually enjoyed it. Now into 2. Only after The Last Remnant is finished though.

------------
Games that I started recently. Some of them I'm not really sure if I'm gonna finish.
Game X: The Last Remnant
Game X: Castlevania: Arria Of Sorrow
Game X: Conception 2
Game X: Need For Speed: Most Wanted --- Gave up. It's too hard to play on the bus in my Vita.
Game X: Mass Effect 2

Game 1: Sunset Overdrive: Mooil Rig DLC - 3 hours 1/1/15

This expantion was more of the same fun but it was wayyy to short
5/10 due to shortness

Game 2: Wolfenstein: The New Order - 15 hours 1/6/15
This game is exactly what it entails. It is a WWII shooter with a twist. It doesn't do anything extraordinarily crazy but excels at every normal thing it does do. It's a fun FPS with an interesting alternate timeline. The overcharge health mechanic was an interesting design.
9/10

Retired
Castle in the Darkness. Sunk about 8 hours into it, but I just can't deal with the instant death spikes anymore.

In progress.
Transistor, I'm not sure I like it but I'll finish it eventually.
Lyne, kind of boring so far.
Half minute hero, cute, but doesn't feel like the gimmick lasts.
Type: Rider, it's probably short so I should just play it and finish it.
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, two episodes in.
Deadly Premonition The Director's Cut, on PC. It's hard to go back to it, it's just so broken.
Assassin’s Creed Unity
Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery Episode 1
Alice Madness Returns, been sitting on this one for a while. The levels are too long.
Octodad Dadliest Catch

Most likely games I'll tackle soon.
The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky
Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry
Valkyria Chronicles
Super Win the Game
Experience 112, maybe I'll have a better experience now that I have a system capable of running it decently.
The Fall, I hear good things.
Halo Spartan Assault
Great Permutator, I have it installed but I don't even know what it is.

Unhonorable mentions
Squirreltopia, played for 20 minutes or so. Feels like shit, not going to play more.

Dan

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I'll claim a post. I think I got up to the mid-30s or so in 2014 without particularly pushing myself.

Current backlog to be tackled:
* Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (50% complete)
* Child of Light
* The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
* Contrast
* Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut
* Escape Plan
* Luftrausers
* Papo & Yo
* Puppeteer (30% complete)
* Trine 2 (50% complete)

---

Game 1: Batman: Arkham Origins: Blackgate Deluxe Edition (PS3)
I'm going to count this despite not beating the final boss, because I spent ages on it but the controls are virtually broken. I know precisely what I'm supposed to be doing, it just doesn't work even remotely consistently. Poor controller responsiveness really kills a lot of this game.

Game 2: Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition (PS4)
Neat little game, if at times frustrating due to odd checkpoints that sometimes lead to needing to redo things.

Game 3: Valiant Hearts: The Great War (PS4)
This was something special. I didn't know much about it, but it's a gorgeous adventure game with a well-constructed story and something worth saying. Valiant Hearts was a treat.

Game 4: SteamWorld Dig (PS4)
This was a lot fun, I actually wish it were longer with more areas to explore.

Game 5: Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender DX (PS4)
Fun arcadey title.

Game 6: The Swapper (PS4)
I wasn't expecting this to have so much narrative and atmosphere, which was a pleasant surprise. Very neat game, cool puzzle mechanics.

Game 7: Grim Fandango Remastered (PS4)
One of my favorite games of all time, I'm so happy to have it back in a painless playable form.

Game 8: Apotheon (PS4)
Took me some time to really get into it, but I ultimately enjoyed it quite a bit. The art is really something special.

Game 9: Entwined (PS4)
Neat little game, although the patterns were occasionally frustrating trying to wrangle both sticks with different timings.

Game 10: OlliOlli2: Welcome to OlliWood (PS4)
This was pretty cool, it's not something I probably would have sought out, but I'm glad it being on PS+ gave me an opportunity to give it a shot. I'll never be particularly good at it besides beating the amateur track, but it's very fun trying to traverse the stages in single combos.

Game 11: Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number (PS4)
I can't really keep track of the story, but I quite enjoyed most of the gameplay aside from some layouts being too big for their own good and some scenes having too many levels. It's a good followup to the first game.

Game 12: Jamestown+ (PS4)
Game 13: Helldivers (PS4)
Game 14: Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4)
Game 15: Life is Strange: Episodes 1-5 (PS4)
Game 16: Axiom Verge (PS4)
Game 17: Stealth, Inc 2: A Game of Clones (PS4)
Game 18: Bastion (PS4)
Game 19: Broken Age (PS4)
Game 20: Bloodborne (PS4)
Game 21: Shovel Knight (PS4)
Game 22: Ether One (PS4)
Game 23: Super Exploding Zoo (PS4)
Game 24: Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)
Game 25: Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut (PS4)
Game 26: Whispering Willows (PS4)
Game 27: The Order: 1886 (PS4)
Game 28: Tembo the Badass Elephant (PS4)
Game 29: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (PS4)
Game 30: The Fall (PS4)
Game 31: Journey (PS4)
Game 32: Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (PS4)
Game 33: Galak-Z: The Dimensional (PS4)
Game 34: N++ (PS4)
Game 35: Adventures of Pip (PS4)
Game 36: VVVVVV (PS4)
Game 37: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4)
Game 38: Mad Max (PS4)
Game 39: Xeodrifter (PS4)
Game 40: Grow Home (PS4)
Game 41: Super Time Force Ultra (PS4)
Game 42: SOMA (PS4)
Game 43: Flame Over (PS4)
Game 44: Teslagrad (PS4)
Game 45: Leo's Fortune (PS4)
Game 46: Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4)
Game 47: Tearaway Unfolded (PS4)
Game 48: The Talos Principle (+ Road to Gehenna) (PS4)
Game 49: Fallout 4 (PS4)
Game 50: Volume (PS4)
Game 51: Gauntlet: Slayer Edition (PS4)
Game 52: Titan Attacks!

Made it to 52 as of 12/30. Fallout 4 really made this difficult by fully taking up 5-6 weeks of my gaming time.

Got to 112 this year, and I doubt I'll be able to do that again since this time I'm focusing more on 100% completion on games since I managed to make a big dent into my backlog last year :)

He who dares, wins~

Screw it. Claiming this spot.

January

Game 1: Dragon Age Inquisition - Fun game, did not 100% it. Saddened that the game did not recover from that 'peak' before Skyhold.

Game 2: Shadow of Mordor - Amazing experience. Would love a sequel.

Game 3: Flower - Oh god, right in the feels. :(

Game 4: Papers, Please - Oh my god, amazing game. The last 4 days were intense. 4: 30: 22 over the course of 4 days.

Game 5: Shadow Warrior - Holy crap, what a visceral experience. I'll admit it drags on a bit but I didn't power through it and played through multiple settings so I never had to burn out. What's shocking is that despite of the filthy humor, there's a very bittersweet story to the game.

Game 6: The Unfinished Swan - Finished just hours before the clock strikes February. Fun, short morsel but I did NOT like the ending.

Six in January. Not a bad progress so far.

February

Game 7: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - Frustrating to play but entertaining to watch. Plot's kind of fucked up on multiple levels, tho'.

Game 8: Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls - Played through from the beginning up to Reaper of Souls expansion. So glad to see so many plot points resolved, even though I wished the base game could have gone a lil different.

Game 9: Kirby: Triple Deluxe - Wow, some really fun boss battles in this.

Game 10: Ducktales Remastered - Jeez, this game is sadistic.

Game 11: Dying Light - Good game, shame they didn't capitalize on the setting. Too much larking around in the sewers, not enough 'zombapoclypse survivor' storylines.

Game 12: The Order 1886 - Sequel. Now.

Game 13: Far Cry 4 - Eh. Serviceable. Troy Baker is baller, though.

Game 14: BlazBlue - Chronophantasma - Really thought this was going to be the end of the trilogy but it became increasingly clear that it wasn't. Great final boss battle. I did not appreciate Tao getting sidelined, however.

Game 15: Guilty Gear Xrd - I wish Daisuke Ishiwatari was in charge of BlazBlue's storywriting. Story pacing is infinitely superior. Also, no goddamn Mary Sue like Celica to hog the spotlight. Dr. Faust came back to the plot in a big way (aw yiss!). Can we please fight That Man in the sequel?

March

Game 16: Xblaze Code Embyro - Plot's a lot more boring than Chronophantasma but that's probably because the characters suck. BlazBlue, even when boring, is at least made tolerable by the awesomeness of Hazama, Bang and Tao. Oh well, at least I learned what the hell the Master Unit is supposed to be.

Game 17: Hot Line Miami 2 Wrong Number - Ugh ~ what an ugly disappointment. A plot less abstract than the original, difficulty that's been ramped up to the point of being unenjoyable and much, much more. I'm not even mad about the 'ending' because mostly I just wanted this torture to be over. What a letdown from HM1.

Game 18: Tales of Xillia 2 - An unnecessary sequel but I do enjoy these characters, so it was nice seeing them again. Lo~ooo~`ot of rehashed areas and bosses, though, so I did not appreciate that. Oh and crappy final dungeon. Still, I enjoyed my time with it.

April

Game 19: Bloodborne - Miyazaki, have my babies.

Game 20: Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Played it twice to get the Good ending. Barry's campaign is superior to Claire's. I completed The Struggle but thought Little Miss was hot garbage and I'm not gonna finish that.

Game 21: Mortal Kombat X - Great campaign. Wish it was a teensy bit longer.

Game 22: Borderlands The Pre-Sequel - Drags on so. very. much.

May

Game 23: Shadowrun Returns Dragonfall - After quitting the original SR, I played and loved Dragonfall to bits. What a trip, what a journey. So many morally grey choices, a tense final battle and a satisfying feeling of accomplishment after fashioning a conclusion based on my decisions. Really looking forward to Hong Kong now.

Game 24: Shovel Knight - GOAT. That is all.

Game 25: Broken Age - Some good jokes here and there but the narrative is an uneven mess.

June

Game 26: D4 - Dark Dreams Don't Die -Deliriously dumb. Would not recommend.

Game 27: Doom - Played it after getting in 'the mood' after watching the Doom 2016 trailer. Not that there's anything to say that's not already been said. Amazing level design.

Game 28: Final Fantasy Type-0 - Bloody hell! Literally! This spin-off entry has rekindled my faith in Final Fantasy!

July

Game 29: Batman Arkham Knight - Rocksteady perfected their craft but the story really took a nosedive in some places. The Batmobile is nice but I dislike being forced to use it in Boss fights.

Game 30: Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze - I was wrong when I called DuckTales sadistic! Turns out, I didn't know the meaning of pain. Holy moly, this game is an absolute monster!

Game 31: Bayonetta 2 - Game out-Bayonetta'ed Bayonetta! I never thought such a feat would be possible!

August

Game 32: Everybody's Gone to the Rapture - A Very well-made walking simulator.

Game 33: Battlefield Hardline - Forgettable campaign.

Game 34: Toukiden Kiwami - Loved. Every. Goddman. Second. Of. This!

September

Game 35: Until Dawn - Exhilarating but the later deaths were really cheap. Damn it, great show, Supermassive.

Game 36: Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain - Gameplay has moments of brilliance but the open world lacks charm and the intimacy of 'One Single Base' of the previous games. Plot is unequivocally the weakest, most awful of all Metal Gear storylines. Heck, AC!D had a more enjoyable story.

Game 37: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt - Absolutely gorgeous but it's too big (yes, if you can believe that) and by the end, I just wanted it all to be over.

October

Game 38: Ace Attorney Investigations 2 - Great game, perhaps even better than the first AAI. Everything was brought together nicely for the final case.

Game 39:
Resident Evil REmake - Still the king of survival horror. I'm reminded how much I hate the new voice actors but otherwise, I was genuinely surprised how it kept me on my toes with new zombie placements.

Game 40: Mad Max - Really fun. Like I mean, really fun. Yes, the world is cluttered with a to-do-list and yes, the storyline is barebones but the wasteland is incredibly relaxing to tear through with my Magnum Opus.

Game 41:
Dragon Quest Heroes - Real fun spin-off. If this what we can expect for Dragon Quest 11's graphics, we're in for a treat.

November

Game 42: Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Shitty missions with even shittier plot. They truly have no idea where to go with this franchise.

Game 43: Dark Souls II - Scholar of the First Sin - HUGE improvement over vanilla Dark Souls 2. THIS is what should've been released at launch. Artorias complimented Dks whilst these expansions actually fixed some of what was wrong in vanilla.

Really slacked off in November...

December

Game 44: Bloodborne - The Old Hunters - Glorious, From Software, just glorious. The weapons, the locations, everything about this had been perfect.

Game 45: Transformers - Devastation - GAF was right. Game's baller as all hell. Too bad I couldn't beat it all with my favorite (Wheeljack). For some reason, Megatron gave me helluva trouble before I switched over to Prime and made a cakewalk out of him.

Game 46: The Walking Dead - Season 2 - Silly choices and so many forced situations to make controversy out of nothing. Still, it was a PS+ offering so I can't be too mad.

Game 47: Far Cry - Blood Dragon - Finished in one sitting. A perfect choice for a PS+ game.

Game 48:
Wolfenstein - The Old Blood - Nooo~oot quite as terrific as The New Order but still a good campaign regardless.

Game 49: Nier - Oh Yoko Taro, you mad bastard.

Game 50: Monument Valley - Finished in two sittings. What a nifty little game.

Game 51: Telltale's Game of Thrones - It's a TTG game, what did I expect? All choices matter fuck all. Started out so nicely, too. At least I have a Platinum out of it.

Game 52: The Wonderful 101 - A game where it's actually LESSER than the sum of its parts. So obtuse and sometimes, downright unfun to play.

Claimed

Let's see if I can do this and keep some semblance of a social life

For the record, I use my ratings like Netflix does, out of 5. 1-Hated it, 2-Didn't like it, 3-Liked it, 4-Really liked it, 5-Loved it

New Games:

1. Ice Climber (NES through Wii U VC) - 1/5 Probably my most hated game of all time, if I'm being honest

2. Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC through 3DS VC) - 3/5 Pretty fun, get four Wigglytuffs and you'll never lose

3. Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (GB through 3DS VC) - 3/5 Fun, simple. Smoother than I expected for a GB game

4. Kirby's Dream Land (GB through 3DS VC) - 3/5 Short, cute, terribly easy. Still liked it, though!

5. HarmoKnight (3DS) - 3/5 Cute rhythm platformer that gets REALLY hard in the last two levels if you're going for the gold medals. 100% it, making it the second game in my entire life that I've 100%. Maybe third, but I can only think of one other. Almost 16 hours to 100%

6. TxK (Vita) - 3/5 Liked it! 100 levels was pretty long, and some of them were just filled with total bullshit. Especially that last level! But it was a fun game overall! Would rebuy on PC for the VR experience

Replayed Games:

*CLAMZ POST*

Slowly working on-

Tales From The Borderlands (Do I need to complete the series? Or does one episode count? I'm not sure if i'll like it enough to buy the season pass)
Geometry Wars 3
The Master Chief Collection
Sunset Overdrive
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Shadows of Mordor
GTA V (360)
