March Update:

Pretty much finished off games from last year that I didn't get around to, and still playing new games from year. Life is Strange was excellent and it would have made my Top 5 games of the year if I'd played it sooner. Also played a lot of Splatoon and enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. The single-player was better than expected, and I had a blast playing competitively online, something I don't usually get out of most shooters.

Played the shit out of the first episode of Hitman. Had a lot of fun in spite of the game's technical and design shortcomings. I didn't 100% do everything that's in the game currently, but I pretty much did everything I wanted to in the Paris and Prologue levels. I stopped doing the escalation missions once they began glitching out on me with regularity. Hopefully the newer episodes are better in that regard.

Finally moved into deeper backlog games, and started Dark Souls. This one has been in my backlog for a while, and is the first of a handful of "wall of shame" games that I hope to get stricken from the record in 2016. I think my plan is to go through Dark Souls 1 now, and sometime over the summer do Dark Souls 3. I wanted to let a little time pass between Bloodborne and Dark Souls, and I don't want to blow through all of them too fast. Probably means I'll be saving Dark Souls 2 for next year or something.

I was very determined to have a positive number this month, and it was close but I did it. I've been focusing on the Atelier games lately, and while they aren't the longest RPGs, it still takes a little time to get through, so progress is slower now. I'm hoping it'll pick up in May, as I'm taking the summer off of classes.

Gravity Rush Remastered -- I didn't count this on my actual backlog because I just updated the Vita version to HD, but I suppose it counts here. Fun, but a little dizzying of what little I've played of it so far.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles -- Neat to get all three of these in one package. Haven't put it in yet. The backlog is real.
Broforce -- STEALTH TANK. SURPRIZE! Laughed my ass off at that one.Nothing stealth about it. Haha.

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest -- I totally played this in filthy casual mode, and I don't even regret that. I do want to do Birthright and Revelations, but, there's so much else to play, why invest in it if I'm not gonna get to it. This is the new backlog saving attitude I must adhere to.
Back to the Future the Game -- This was a little janky to actually play, but if you're fan of the real trilogy, it's an amazing send-up. Well written, well cast, and true to the movies.
Yakuza Kiwami -- (JP Import) This is how HD remasters need to be done from now on. Kind of sets a new standard.

Bought and beat Firewatch. I liked it a lot. The story
- I think - wasn't that important for the game. The relationship between the two was far more important and made it a small fun game. Ah, yeah, and the hiking just armed with a map and a compass was another great mechanic.

Finally beat D4's first Season. I want more and hope that Swery will have the chance to contiue

Definitely go Rapture if you want something quick and dirty. It's a fantastic game, but one that lasts three hours, so if you want something quick, there's your answer.

Damn, I've failed this in more ways than one. Dark Souls has taken over my gaming life more or less to the point where I've beaten it but don't even feel like playing anything other than more Dark Souls.

To add to that I came across a clearance sale with 3 games I was kind of interested in for about $10 each. I'm already at the 6 games I'd set as my limit for the year and that's before Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy XV. Still, there should be some short campaigns once I'm done with Dark Souls...

Well, April bombed out for me.

Main OP

I had ample opportunity to make ground on my backlog considering that May and June is going to kill me for games I'm going to be buying (Uncharted 4, possibly Fire Emblem Fates, possibly Overwatch or Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, No Man's Sky and Tokyo Mirage Sessions). Had all the opportunity in the world to make ground.

Instead? Three games. One of which I bought during the month. Well done, me. Well done.

Currently going through FFX HD so hope to have that done - and one more shorter game - before Uncharted 4 drops in a week-and-a-half. God willing, next month should be a lot better for completed games. Unfortunately, not so much for the bought section.

I had a surprisingly good month. Should've ended up with two bought games but Ratchet & Clank seems to be stuck somewhere in the mail system between the UK and NZ, so it'll have to count towards next month instead. Going digital would've made sure this problem never happened but oh well, it gave me the chance the play a couple of adventure games from my backlog anyway. Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow.

I'm probably going to fall back behind next month though, because aside from R&C, there's a couple of good sales I want to jump on, plus Uncharted 4 and Valkyria Chronicles. We'll see what happens though.

I was weak and got that Telltale bundle. :( I thought that would fuck up my monthly score, but I managed to complete most of them during the month - also "beating" a 30-minute "game" helped. Still haven't made up for the deficit of last month (trying to maintain +3 per month) but at least it's not another setback.

Also came to the point where I think I'm done with Dark Souls 2. I was enjoying it for a while way more than I expected to, and then turned a corner and feel the complete opposite.
