UK Monthly Charts - February 2016
UK Monthly Charts - March 2016
UK Monthly Charts - April 2016

62% software revenue for PS4 v 23% XB1 for the month. Ouch. MS are slowly loosing their puncher's chance in the UK even.

The Scorpio reveal aand PC cross-platform releases can't have helped.

Did people just throw away their 3DS's in the UK? I can understand Wii U not having any games in the charts, it's a train wreck, but 3DS sold quite a bit. Probably more than X1 still, and the charts are ordered by units sold and not value. Yo-Kai watch is near the bottom and then nothing. The active user base buying games for the thing must be tiny. Nintendo have become largely irrelevant in the UK it seems, even their evergreen titles aren't making the bottom of the summer charts. Some treleases chart for a week or 2 and then just disappear.

I've never seen a single piece of media for it, ever, anywhere. The only time I knew it was coming out was when looking at release dates for these PAL chart threads and since the US date was so much earlier, it couldn't even leech off of online hype.

Yo-Kai Watch gets advertised pretty heavily on channels like Cartoon Network. Quite a lot of Nintendo's output gets pretty heavy rotation on there, even Fire Emblem. It doesn't really help change the "Nintendo is for kids" stereotype; they really need to market elsewhere too.

Supermarkets are a huge avenue for game sales in the UK, and barely any stock Nintendo anymore.

I think i remember reading articles here about the Wii U not getting stocked in Tesco or Asda, but as i'm not from the UK i just assume they still stocked 3DS. Here in the US it still does ok but nothing great and the 2 markets tend to mirror each other, hence my surprise at how weak it is in that market.

To be fair, these days they tend to only stock the biggest games as well (unless you have a very large store at least).

My local Sainsburys is huge but only has a few shelves dedicated to games and DVDs (not blu rays...) and I don't think they even stocked Ratchet and Clank.

Thanks for your work on the data, BrunoMB!

Great PS4 numbers.

Interesting to see some Vita numbers, as depressing as they might be. Surely Vita has a stronger digital presence but these numbers give us the overall picture.

Also Wii U being beat by 360 and PS3.

Gotcha. At least here in my area the super markets like Target still stock niche games, although i do my shopping on Amazon due to prime discounts

Why the bump?
Other than the awesomeness

Great data, Bruno!

I'd love to see the software numbers tied against (estimated) hardware numbers...I'd like to know if the SW is increasing in-line or if the attach rate is actually increasing, too.

I think in the UK you have to be mad to buy games at retail, unless it's an impulse purchase.

Even just a cursory glance at Amazon or other smaller game retailers (like Gameseek, Shopto, Thegamecollection or Simply Games) will give you a much better price than in a brick and mortar store. For example, the RRP in the UK is usually £50 but if you look online you'll pay at most £45 at launch and even as low as £36-38 if you shop around.

Nice work, PS4

Games released on Friday 24 June

Dino Dini’s Kick Off Revival (PS4)
Mighty No. 9 (360/PS3/Wii U/XO/PS4/PC)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE (Wii U)
Mario & Sonic At The Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Wii U)
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS3/PS4/PSV)
Rocket League Collector’s Edition (XO/PS4)
Super Meat Boy (PS4)
OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition (PS4)

Any numbers on these games, will they do well on Friday?

I didn't even know it was happening, but I'm probably going to get it if it's turned out alright. Seems like it could be a good surprise for me.

Awesome!

I haven't played the original but the revival looks pretty good. I can see 10,000 units being sold by the end of the month.

UC got legs is still a disputed argument.

Why are you quoted that comment?

lol, this is for the lasts weeks.

Like i said, those aren't "impressive" legs like some people wanna believe. Though they aren't bad. Uncharted 4 is showing discrete legs this week.

So your opinion have changed this week?

Dude is so hard to understand what i'm saying? Seriusly?

Here what i said, again:

Where i said the legs are bad. WHERE i said the legs are bad.

Never said they are.

Dropping by 20 to 40% every week definitively is not even close to say "impressive".

Indeed it is.

I said those legs so far looks about right for a game like Uncharted. There is nothing to say more, expecially since i'm not "predict" what legs WILL BE, but what legs loosk so far.

That is.

I said Uncharted legs looks alright. Are they impressive, amazing, or special?

No lol, this is just a normal hold for a game like this.

Most important, if the game in future WILL show amazing legs, i won't say it won't.
I didn't predicted nothing, i just talking about what i see right now.

Uncharted 4 legs are fine, stop. Nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing difference to what i said last week, and i hope this is the last time i talk about this.

All these people buying Overwatch on console.

How can people play Pharah with a controller?
I get not all shooter need to be played with a mouse, but Overwatch is clearly made with kb/m controls.
This is coming from a guy who mainly plays on console.
It's called jumping with triggers. Learn it, love it, live it.

When in April/May Yokai Watch was selling good people were saying the "cathlolic rite" ...

Now is still selling good and is because the kids starting vacation...

Can't we just say it's selling good because is selling good?

It's selling great

and kids are starting summer vacation now.

The "catholic rite" is also true. 8/9 year old kids get a lot of presents during different weeks of May/June depending on when they take first communion.

New charts out. UC4 still at the top for the individual charts. Pretty good hold as well. Doom doing pretty well for itself as well.

22 PS4 - 13 Xbox

Pretty wide margin.

New releases all did as well as expected. U4 is a beast :p

Great to see TLoU back.

And 2 WiiU games in the Top40. It's not dead yet folks ;)
Not a single PS3 game in there either. Who knew the WiiU would outlive it.

No surprise to see Fifa on Xbox so high it was bundled in with the £199 and below deals that have been kicking about since e3.

UC4 has sold twice as much as DOOM (a multi plat game) last month?

God damn. Does that mean that UC4 is a beast or that DOOM underperformed?

I mean come on. Bethesda paid millions for advertising and had 3(!!) different platforms for selling it and still couldn't beat a Sony exclusive? Pretty bad imo

Glad that Doom is doing good. Focus on online/coop/team Shooters is growing more and more but i just want to pop in such a game and play it over the weekend.

Doom has been sliced in price everywhere too.
