Berserk looks pretty cool...59 canadian though..

That's still like 20 bucks cheaper than we have to pay for most big "60$" releases these days, though. Plus, if it's anything like Attack on Titan it won't get any deep discounts for a while. Seems like a decent price to me. Not that I can afford it right now, though...

I'm way behind on the manga, anyway. Anything post-Golden Age would essentially be spoilers. :(

Playing through Atelier Sophie... I feel like the story is moving faster than I am. I keep unlocking new areas and I can't explore them because I can't even make better weapons or get any armor!!
Hooooly shitnuts. I .... had noooo idea you could upgrade weapons and armor. All I been doing is finding ingredients, crafting stuff, battling baddies. New area open and I go to them to continue finding potions. I'm level 5 and thought I could only get stronger by levelling up. How do we upgrade our stuff?

Knew I was missing something :/

I remember The Witness being generally considered a disappointment when reviews first hit... it wasn't until recently that I saw people highly praising it. Seems like it did a 180 or something in the "public consciousness", or am I remembering things wrong?

The Witness was one of my favourite games in quite a few years. I think my enjoyment was that much greater because I avoided all the "journalism" about it and previews which spoil far too much. You start the game with no knowledge of what is going on and it works best when you are the same. Figuring everything out gradually and naturally is great and surprising in many ways for so many reasons. The puzzles are great, and then later on you can keep uncovering more things that start to make a bit more sense of things.

I loved it. Really don't care what others think of it. I know people complained of the price too, but even that launch price was fantastic imo.

i think the witness is one of the best games i've ever played

it's not the easiest game to get into but it's not often i'm left in actual awe when playing a game, and it's not often i feel like i've grown to become a master at a game just by normally playing it

the witness is just amazing

yeah it's pretentious but it makes up for it, i promise

Just a heads up, No Truce With the Furies, an indie isometric RPG inspired by Planescape: Torment and tabletop RPGs with combat done fully in-dialogue gotten quite a bit more coverage recently. RPS did a nice piece on it recently.

Humble has picked them up for their first patch of games to publish "late 2017".

GAF thread.
i read that as no truce with the furries lol

in any case it looks really neat

This is very high on my list of things to get. Need to see a little more to be sure but it seems to be shaping up very nicely. Good to see Humble pick it up too. Assuming you get both Steam and Humble versions from them at the same time, seems like a no-brainer.

My man George wasn't too fond of it (putting it very mildly)

I'm pretty sure I watched a couple of other reviews at the time that conveyed a similar, or worse, sentiment about it.

I watched through the review and he spends most of the time complaining about how the puzzles are too hard or obscure (which is resolved with a large serving of git gud) and that it doesn't have a cohesive narrative (which I'm not sure how that became a negative. Do people complain that Tetris doesn't have a story?).

One issue with The Witness is that it's hard to talk about what makes the game so special without spoiling something or the other. Anyone who looks at it as an island with 500 puzzles to solve is kind of missing the point of the game. There is a certain beauty in the game world which you slowly begin to appreciate the more you play it. There's a reason it took something like six years to create.

$54.99 Canadian, $41.24 with the 25% off....yeah, It would have been a day one buy for me until they made it that price, going to wait for a major price drop sale.

Same. So many rpgs piling up in my wishlist. I wonder how many of those I'll be able to play before I die.

I think when you get the blacksmith, you're just supposed to craft the starter weapons with good materials to make better stuff. Thats what the few things I find on this say. But there's got to be a way to get better equipment, right???

the apocalypse now kickstarter is now asking people to donate on their own site instead

i think i'm gonna take a step back and wait and see how it pans out

i love everything about the idea but i wish there was an existing dev team they could show to give people confidence that they can do it

Seems kind of shady. I think they've realized they will need LOT of time to raise 6 millions (459 days remaining on their site) and since they won't be receiving tons of extra money they can't allow Kickstarter to take a cut.

Kickstarter already had little protection outside of having to "deliver rewards" so I can't see this a good sign.

i know of a lot of people that were just "eh" about the witness, even people i personally respect a bunch

it doesn't have to hit anyone as hard as it hit me, but there is something in it that's truly unlike anything else

Could be that you haven't unlocked it yet. The game has a shitload of things it unlocks over time.
Most of those are unlocked by reaching different points in the side character storylines, so make sure to look for events whenever you're in town.

You can make water right near your base with the air sack fish. Than some fruit/veggies give it to you. But yes Survival in sub is kinda pointless, even though I always play in it.

Could be terrible like other games though where you need to eat 50 steaks or move 200m and drink like you haven't for two days. While being "cold" or "hot" lol
Huh, will have to check it out.

They've been doing a good job going over "Metric" their RPG system on the blog. Looks like they've got the concept and mechanics nailed down quite well and are just filling in the game part now. I hope we'll get to see some live gameplay in the near future as well.

Really exciting to see someone innovate on a genre and make it look nice as well.

i feel like if you need 6 millions you should just look for a publisher

maybe activision will laugh at the idea but i'm sure they could find someone with that big of a name

i like the idea of doing it "indie" like they did with the actual movie, but it doesn't feel super realistic in this case

Do you have access to the weapons and clothing shops yet? You'll eventually be able to craft upgrades through them. It's impossible to miss, I think. They don't seem to be particularly significant upgrades so far, though. Unless I'm missing something, I guess. At times this game makes me feel like I have no idea what I'm doing lol.

Ohhh k. I haven't reached the blacksmith yet, still too early I guess.

Yep, I'm too early. Thanks for that guys!

k guys, I'll give The Witness a shot, now how about you gift me that spare key you have laying around? :p

I'll keep trying at the raffles

It happens naturally through the course of the game. You unlock more new metal types, which unlock new weapon tiers (or quests that in turn unlock new weapon tiers).
That said, you can of course always also improve whatever weapon tier you are on by crafting metals with more suitable or higher level traits.

In any case, at basically every point in the game, a set of well-crafted high-quality bombs (or rather attack items of the most powerful time you currently know) is the most decisive thing in a hard battle.

Yeah, I heard about using bombs and whatnot to brute force your way through, and I should probably do that. I just feel like all the side story cutscenes are coming in faster than I can progress, and I don't want them to run out before I'm done because I don't know what I'm doing. It doesn't help that I can't remember how hard the monsters are in all the different areas, and I end up making a lot of wasted trips trying to remember what place has what ingredients.

I remember The Witness being generally considered a disappointment when reviews first hit... it wasn't until recently that I saw people highly praising it. Seems like it did a 180 or something in the "public consciousness", or am I remembering things wrong?

I remember nothing but raves around here, but I do remember some grumbling about the $40 price tag. Personally it was probably the biggest reason I bought the bundle.

Why isn't it required to state the origin of they keys when doing a giveaway?

What if someone's Steam account gets locked because the keys were acquired in a shady way?

For you.
What if someone's Steam account gets locked because the keys were acquired in a shady way?

This is impossible to happen, so I hardly see the reason for having to disclose where you got every single key. No accounts were ever locked for it, no accounts ever will.

I don't think an entire account can get locked if keys are obtained in a shady way, only said games can be removed.

The keys are all extras from indie bundles from Groupees, Bundle Stars, Humble and such if it makes you feel any better. Still have to get hundreds from Indiegala but that's for another time.

Valve stopped banning/suspending accounts half a decade ago and has never taken action against the recipient of a game that was fraudulently purchased.

I ended up winning two copies of a game I didn't realize I automatically got for owning the unremastered version (No Time to Explain).

Keys are hidden in this post. Thanks to vecks and chronomac

I like Darkest Dungeon. I tried out in the new easier mode, but soon found the game to be too easy. So I switched to darkest mode, and I am still nailing it. I thought this was supposed to be a difficult game. I haven't lost anyone in my current run. It has a lot of good ideas that I enjoy though. I think the missions could use a bit more flavor as well. And the story/journals aren't all that compelling. But the narrator is good, when it isn't being repetitive.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
How does Valve currently handle charge backs?

Could someone gift a game, do a charge back and have both accounts suspended from purchasing?

Asking for a friend who wants to do a high profile anonymous giveaway.
