Media Create Sales: Week 6, 2017 (Feb 06 - Feb 12)

No surprise that late ports (Disgaea 5, Nobunga and Setsuna) aren't exactly setting pre-order alight!

The fact the first 2 are both full price for games 2 years plus old is still something I can't comprehend.

Looking good for PS4 these weeks... I expect boost:

NiER + White PS4 Slim > 50k
Horizon > 40k

That pretty good for February.

Disgaea 5 is seemingly doing worse in preorders than 3 did on Vita though.

I believe Disgaea 5 sold 22K on PS4 almost 2 years ago in its first week. What exactly are you expecting?

Why wouldn't it do worse? Disgaea 5's original release sold much worse than Disgaea 3's original release, Disgaea 3 Vita was cheaper than Disgaea 5 Complete, Disgaea 5 Complete has no new content when past Disgaea handheld ports (including 3) had and Disgaea has almost no history on Nintendo platforms.

There is literally not a single reason in favor of Disgaea 5 Complete.

Wasn't the idea that it sold bad because it was a PS4 game and NIS was going to make Switch versions to increase their Japanese sales?

.

I don't believe that is correct. I believe the rationale is that PS4 alone isn't enough and so they are going to attempt to supplement the platform with Switch. The idea that a 2 year old game at full price would sell better on a platform of 400K max strikes me as a really dumb one.

And it will increase their sales, unless the game sells no copies at all.

PS4 alone is not enough, but maybe PS4 and Switch will be.

It's not but it's doing notably worse.

So Disgaea 3 started at 20k but Disgaea 5 is already doing worse despite not being released yet, can't we wait a little bit before having such a clear statement?

I mean at this point we don't really know how it will perform at launch, it could be anywhere between 5-30k, the only thing we know is that it won't be a megabomb like Setsuna or Nobunaga.

How are they justifying Nobungas near 10000yen price point btw?

Initial shipment for Japan will be higher from what he was expecting as LTD WW. Nintendo usually goes for 1:1.shipments between systems and flagship titles at launch. Zelda is heading for very big attach ratio and looking at other preorders Switch for software ratio closer to Wii than 3DS or Wii U.

It's not but it's doing notably worse.

So you still believe it's only going to sell 20K LTD worldwide ?

At least at launch there is zero discount at digital, comparing to retail. Maybe for Nintendo that's the standard tactic, but not for third parties.

Yeah damn, it still sold only exactly 0 units!

Well no one seems to be preordering it.

Probably not far from it. NISA have barely sold half of their Limited Edition copies.

After Uppers Oregano must have inside info and for Disdaea regarding preorders, shipments and predicted sales for every territory since he can give such an accurate number.

I'm thinking in terms of the initial shipment size that it's actually bigger than anticipated for Switch 1 2. The game could have a comparable shipment to Zelda and that's the reason why one of the two games are "bundled" by COMG.

Zelda - 300-400k
Switch 1/2 - 300-400k
Bomberman R - 150-200k

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 100k
Dragon Quest Heroes 1-2 - 100k
PuyoPuyo Tetris - 100k
Disgaea 5 - 75k

I am Setsuna - 50k
Nobunaga's Ambition - 50k

You continue to live in some alternate reality regarding the Switch. Many of those shipments would never sell out even at bargain bin prices.

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
20K was just something I threw out there, point is the game's going to sell horrible numbers.

20k would be a good number, considering how the first release sold 40k
does the Switch need to be a miracle-touch thing?

Maybe he was talking about worldwide preorders

I don't see why, outside of guesstimating larger numbers for the second and third tier these are just shipment totals. There is more chances of selling your overpriced game right now(at launch) than there would ever be on the Switch(no region lock).
In any case I expect Puyo, DQH and Bomberman to all sell their initial shipments in the first two months because of their local multiplayer functionality. Whether they do it at full price is another matter altogether.

Out of curiosity, how much software did the PS3 sell between 2009-2014 exactly? Looks like the PS4 has a long way to go to even catch up to that in terms of software.

Square Enix has started a new studio devoted to new I.P. Studio will be helmed by Hideo Baba (Tales of producer). Objective of new studio is to create new I.P. using the strengths of Japanese culture to make RPG's targeting a worldwide audience.

As with the Atlus new IP, it's pretty much an announcement for the sake of mass recruitment.

Looks like Final Fantasy Explorers is back. Famitsu will have details on Final Fantasy Explorers Force.

No platform mentioned, but based on screen and the icons in the bottom left corner (nicely hidden by the fantastic Famitsu watermark), this seems to be PS4/V? This is for iOS and Android

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Another case of 3DS getting a game and then the sequel is on every platform except 3DS.

That always seems weird to me. Who knows, this one could come to switch. maybe.

It's a mobile game, though. The images don't make it clear enough what it is (sequel/extended version of the first/different version of the first, adapted for mobile).

It's a 5 player action RPG with players picking jobs for their characters and fight summon beasts. It has the Trance system as well.

I remember PS3 having years where it sold 10 million+ software pieces. Its going to be hard for PS4 to match especially if it has a shorter cycle (which I'm still not sure if it will). I think 50 million LTD for PS4 right now.

So the 300k or so from the 3DS version wasn't enough for that low-budget series? Surprised.

If successful, Mobile can bring more than 300k in a single month lol.^^

I don't see this doing well like at all though seeing how other FF mobile title is not really lightning the chart.

Considering the way most NIS games sell I'd imagine not a lot.

20K was just something I threw out there, point is the game's going to sell horrible numbers.

Considering how much worse the PS4 Switch version looks according to you, shouldn't you expect it to sell horrible numbers?
