I wonder what new release will be in this coming monthly. Looking at the release schedule, not a whole lot coming out the 7th at the moment.

Maybe Slime-san? Looks pretty good if so.

Slime-san is hot. I agree with r3n4ud.

On April 7, 2017 the game will release on Steam and Humble Bundle. Finally players will be able to jump and slime their way through 100 levels in a unique 5-colored, pixelated world.

Kind of off topic... So I just made a 20-ish minute 4K Senran Kagura Estival Versus Ninpo montage. Does 1 hour and 40 minute sound about right for rendering 4K footage of that length? I even tried it with using CUDA from my GPU and it was still taking just as long.

Any way. I tried to make it as safe for work as possible, but it is possible. I'm not a big fan of the over sexual iced stuff, but damn I love me some good special attacks.

It's hard to say how long render should take, I need to know how many CPUs you have and if you are using CUDA, what GPU you are using.

Titan X Pascal And an i7 6850K. I also have 64gb of 3200 ddr4. I feel like I should be able to render faster than that. I also have it set to 100mbps for the quality. II know people recommend around 50 for 4K, but I feel I get better quality this way and also elimate artifacts. Even 720p videos look good when I do it this way.

Yea you have a tremendous amount of brute. I'd say if your render settings are encoding at 100mbit and you also have 100mbit files, the time sounds about right. If the time is the same when you enable CUDA, I'd say it's most def not using GPU. If you download Process Explorer, it should show you if your GPU is being used.

Also what software are you using to render?

From a hardware point of view, are you 100% sure you are running at 3200Mhz? Many times it will default to 2133 or 2400. Using XMP mode is a simple way to make sure freq is running at SPD settings set by the manufacturer.

How Atelier Firis could turn to be the last Atelier game I play.

In my long history with Atelier games I never was disappointed by any of them until Firis, and they never were so ambitious as Firis is, but not this, or lack of polish, or not the best port are reasons for my disappointment.

So what's good about Firis:
1.it's the open world in nature, for the first time in the Atelier game
2. Complexity of alchemy is a notch down from Sophie, but in general alchemy feels better in Firis.
3. Character endings are back
4. The world is nice and monster design is great.
5. It's a huge game
6. learning alchemy and taking an actual exam of it is an interesting idea.
7. Many interesting characters with their stories.
8. Chain quests

what's no so good:
1. Localization is poor
2. Quest descriptions for many quests are wrong past the first step
3. A game is way too demanding on hardware and runs poorly
4. There are some glitches.

the ugly:
1. No real fast travel for 30-40 hours, depends on how fast you get there.
2. Even when you get fast travel, it is limited, as there are parts of the world that allow no fast travel, and these aren't small locations, also filled with dangerous monsters (that can wipe out even strong party) without ability to save your game, of course.
3. Sophie had an interesting system of unlocking alchemy recipes, which Firis ditched in favour of guessing what you should do and how many times to unlock what, yes guessing.
4. Alchemy results in Firis are strongly dependent on quality, yet you can't register a single item in this game (just let it sink in). What means creating the same items ad nauseam over and over again, what takes extra hours upon hours of playtime for no reason.
5. ridiculously small initial storage space available to you (you easily get it filled in first three-four locations) and you have no ability to sell anything for a long time after that. It never becomes sufficient too.
6. Many character events are pure guesswork too, and not something that is obvious, or even logical or easy to guess because of lack of options, nothing of the sort.
7. the game that can't be fully finished without of use of a guide (and that's not a few things but a whole lot of them), is not a well designed game in my book.

so those seven reasons are that make me think that Firis can be my last atelier game. I can't tolerate even one of those, all of them? overkill.
This is an end of era. I still have a hope that Gust will get some feedback and won't repeat all numerous mistakes they made with Firis.

I only recommend this game because it has redeeming qualities, but if you wanna a real good Atelier game, you should play Atelier Sophie instead.

XMP is on and in BIOS it says 3200. Is there some kind of hardware monitor I can use to make sure?

Zoe Quinn is very mad on twitter about what TB and Jim Sterling are saying about Steam

Oh, I'm sure Total Biscuit's fans are gonna be super respectful about this.

She's a victim of abuse who has seen how gamergate can game systems to increase their ability to abuse. She has every right to be worried here.

It seems like she's mad that Steam won't step in to stop the harassment she gets. Pretty sure Jim would side with Zoe on it and I think TB would suggest that she make better games to stop the harassment.

It's most def on, but you can use HWinfo to see the frequency while in the OS.

Glad I'm not Twitter right now

I haven't been in this vile and shitty of a mood for quite awhile.

I'm just going to post this once:

just seeing the initial T.B in any PC gaming thread on GAF is eye rolly.

The people who take him seriously make me real angry

I have two friends who have been doxxed and one of those two friends was deadnamed by GamerGate for being trans.

It's such a damn shame to see T.B still taken seriously on GAF.

There was a time when his stuff would get posted in here like clockwork but thankfully, through precision ridicule, we've mostly excised it.

It sucks that other people take him seriously enough that he becomes part of the news that gets discussed in here, though.

Just click on them to get a item description. Afterward, you'll be asked if you want to buy it.

Jim Sterling and Total Biscuit have always been complete dopes when it comes to Steam. Jim's OK sometimes but c'mon, it's beyond obvious he's turned digging through garbage on Steam into a healthy stream of content under the guise of some kind of "crusade," while ironically being the raw fuel that leads to shovelware becoming meme-level and ending up in the Popular New Releases list.

Anyone who makes money by being mad on the internet is a fraud and contributes nothing to society, period. You know how sweatpant-wearing drunk-at-noon idiots buy grocery store checkout tabloids about how some celebrity has secret cancer or is having an affair? YouTube ranters are the 21st century version of those magazines, and their audience are the 21st century version of those rubes. Actually, it's worse, YouTube ranters are basically the morons on the side of the road yelling about how The Wages of Sin is Death, Christ Is Coming Soon (half of them politically believe that) and their audience are people who actually stop to listen. Absolute zero. If YouTube shut down it'd probably end climate change given the metric tonnage of hot air released by dudes with bad haircuts yelling about comic books while standing in front of unframed posters.

Was contemplatiing getting Zero Escape trilogy but I lacked the funds by a small amount and didn't want to pay out my credit card.
Hoping for a 20% off sale in the summer sale plus 50% off for ZE3. Got to see what those games are about.
But then again I still haven't beat Danganronpa 2. Sucks liking long games like JRPG and VNs while also being hooked to competitive games like Rocket Leagu WHILE also being addicted to the internet. Never enough time.

Definitely get one if you can afford it. Such an massive leap in typing feedback and comfort, not to mention features most mechanical offer (NKRO).
There's no going back though.

From this boy.

i wish there were any concrete details on cyberpunk tho, i wasn't the biggest witcha 3 fan but hard not to be excited about anything cdpr does

Dragon's Dogma is so damn good.

zkylon I rented your pawn a couple times, but I dunno how much RC you got from me because I was much higher level than you.

I've never really considered TB an angry guy ranting on the internet in his videos.
I like that he pushes game developers to give really good PC ports and goes extremely in-depth in videos regarding the quality of ports, and I like his WTF Is...? videos as they genuinely have a lot of effort put into explaining what games are. Granted its become a joke at this point that anything below 60fps makes him irate but most of the videos I've seen by him are pretty calm and interesting. I do wish he'd touch more Japanese games, as he seems to actively avoid most of those, but people have different interests so whatevs.

Sterling complains a LOT more than TB does, as a large portion of Sterling's videos these days are precisely on those bad games that keep making him upset on Steam. Which confuses me really; why buy these games if you can tell they're bad? Regardless, Sterling's views scare me because of this. I'm always afraid his efforts are going to result in small niche games losing a platform to be sold on.

I actually felt the Open World hurt it more than anything, I liked the world map from the last game more. Also yeah the storage problem is awful, what's the point of being able to customize your home when all you're gonna do is fill it up with is chest and cabinets for extra storage.

I think he sometimes just runs out of material and so finds another Greenlight asset flip for an easy ten minute video. The whole 'Best of Greenlight' series can be ignored anyway as it's obvious it's merely cherry picking releases. He should cut down on them tbh. I'd hardly write him off just for that aspect of his content though, but if that's most of what someone has seen I could see the kind of impression it may leave.

I don't particularly enjoy anyone on YouTube who makes videos longer than 8-10 minutes. But it seems like a jump to say some of these people are hate monsters. Some have said some iffy things but the mob frenzy is usually pretty unwarranted in my opinion

Sorry if I came off as hateful or what not

I'm having a real bad day

and it just got a fuckton worse when I heard an older friend of mine is in the hospital.

So my nerves are completely shot.

Wait Boogie is full of crap now? I don't keep up with this stuff. I thought he was a lovable character?

1) Boogie has always been annoying trash
2) He's always playing the victim card but then always wants "PEOPLE TO JUST BE IN THE MIDDLE", defending Jontron and others in the alt-right. He flip flops because he's a coward.

Anywho, I hope my fav youtubers aren't trash (Super Bunnyhop, Mark Brown, Lord Karnage).

edit: And I guess with that Dishonored 2 thing I can see if the game runs like crap or not.
