Thanx Grom!
Some super crazy shots above!

Evora is very photogenic car, looks impressive from all angles, Dodge Viper is quite the opposite. Not sure if anyone agrees.

Sorry about the super big sizes. I thought I downsized them but I guess not.

Got inspired by paskowitz's pics to buy and photoshoot lotus evora! and omg i couldnt stop, one of the best premium modelled car in gt5. Enjoy!

Thanks. Full disclosure the last the the last 2 and obviously the first were Photoshopped. However, the only reason I did that was because I tried to get them to look as close to what they looked like when I paused the game. The shot with the glowing LFA brake looked even more awesome when the game was paused. The glow from the brake was refracting/reflecting off of the wet road in... but the camera didn't pick it up and I could not recreate it in PS. I hate it when the game does that.

The problem of the Viper (I assume you're talking about the old one) is that the fog lights make the whole front look bad, as shown by this photo that I took a while ago but never posted :

On the other hand, the rear looks fantastic though :

I had already pointed out that the Ford GT lacked some polygons too. These disparities in modeling just confirm to me that this "no outsourcing" rule is dumb. PD should outsource the modeling and just make the shadering and texturing in-house IMO. Ultimately it's the later that make or break a virtual car, especially in-game or in replays.

So, some tests with the Viper ACR did show me that it really does lack in some photo-prowess. Not due to how it looks as in modeling, but it's a really stiff car that just doesn't have much sexy roll when turning in hard. It's long, low to the ground and has a hard suspension. So any movement just doesn't show. Still some good ones though.

Here's what I came up with though (in my personal order of least dramatic on):

The Viper always gets a nice launch at the 'ring.

Not sure if this belongs here, but I will be properly contributing to the thread later tonight...

...anyways, what is this, and how can I stop it from occurring?

Edit: I am referring to the choppy sky gradients...

Ps. Anyone know if an image host that let's you upload/view your pics at full res/original size for free?

I'm surprised that Flickr does something like that as it's usually the best image hosting website when it comes to quality.
I don't know any other quality website but please stay as far as possible from imgur. This website shouldn't be allowed to host image with the terrible compression it adds on images.

I think flickr is great, it just is a shame that going pro is not justifiable for casual users and subsequently, there is no FULL size option available.

As far as that horrible artifacting/banding goes, that was compliments of in-game photo mode....

I want to know if anyone else is having this issue too...?

Ah yeah, sorry, I didn't see the "PS" in your post... :-D

(It's my only photo with similar effect)
I think the gradient problem become apparent when you both up the exposure and use the blue/cool effect.

BTW, if some you have requests for photos, feel free to ask. :)

Here are the photos as promised! - sorry for the bombarding, but these have been sitting on my USB for a bit....EPIC POST INCOMING

I hope you like them.
(I have the originals, but FLICKR wont let me show them)

EDIT: Cheers GRom, I figured that might be my where I went wrong, I just thought it might be my telly until I transferred them over (I have a panaphonic VT20 - it sometimes bands like this). I'll stay away from that filter/exposure combo for now, it can ruin good photos (not as per my example, that was just that - an example...).

I popped your exif data on a few images to make sure they all had same thing. Are you scaling the image yourself or letting flickr do it for you?

Whatever the case, that seems to be the problem.
You can see there, your images are only coming out with 16 pixels/inch. All of mine, regardless of the image size, are at 72pixels/inch. You're also missing color management data which should be at sRGB.

For example, the only thing I do to my images out of the game is re-size them in photoshop. And all my exif data is kept. So your images are losing precious data somewhere.

That's in game compression as it was there as I took the 'photo'.

Not sure what's going on, but it seems as though it's there all the time when that filter is used.

Cone to think of it, it is also present whilst driving in game on the Mt Aso series of tracks too...

Wish they would add some more customizable photo settings.

Cheers for looking into it for me to that extent, though.

Perhaps I should check the pix/inch on the original images.
Is it just that image I was dropping pixels?

Just checked a few of the pics and they all show 16/16 on flickr exif data when in there, medium sized, but the original 1920x1080 pics show 72exif/16jfif in Jeffrey's exif viewer.

Is there something wrong with my settings???

I checked original full scale and downsized to 600px wide on some of mine. They all retained 72pix/inch. I know flickr doesn't drop data, but I never let it resize my stuff.
More curious what is doing your resizing though. It might be using color management not supported by flicker.

Who knows, might just totally be the filter

I don't think anything is doing any sort of resizing. My exported photomode shots are 1080P...

I'm really confused now, because even the non-filtered ones i checked have 16 JFIF (still 72 EXIF).

So I don't think it's the filters or flickr.
They are straight taken from my 1080P in game pics...

Weird.

Can you perhaps tell if it's something in my game/photo settings because as far as I could tell, the settings pretty much remain default until you tweak focus/aperture/exposure...

I've been playing this game nonstop since release and I'm still amazed everytime I enter this thread.

I wish I had the photography skills you guys do >.<

GT5 doesnt look anywhere near as good in motion right? I mean from the pixelated shadows and the low res car decals that act as handles, jaggies, etc... I thought GT5 looked rather disgusting.

Am I wrong or did they improve it via a patch?

Depending on the track/cars/time of day, GT5 can look absolutely gorgeous or quite below average.

But no, obviously it doesn't look as good as photo mode. No game does.

fired it up for the first time in months:

they need to enable interior angles in photomode. all that work recreating them and we can't even get a decent butchers at them.

that photo travel hack is a retarded.
