A bit late here, but congrats!

Nah,are we being giddy only for a new human being on this earth? It happens so many times per day that it should not surprise anyone.

Marvelous news, schuelma! And I agree with the user who proposed to change the chart in order to put NEW BABY at first position. :D

I don't know the reason but it looks that azalyn stopped providing estimates for initial shipments and first week sales.

get6-2: 40-50k first day for TotA, GoldenEye is sold out at most stores, SF4AE high sell-through, the 300k figure for LBX was referring to plastic initial shipment.
\\

get-2 figures are nowhere near as accurate as azalyn though.
Comparing similar releases(portable tales re-makes, tales on ds) anything above 66k~ first week would be a really great start for TOA

I have no idea, but Japan had advanced mobile phone gaming several years before the iPhone was even conceived. When Western phones were struggling to play crappy 128x128 2D J2ME games Japan had phones running Resident Evil and whatnot. So I'm not sure iOS games had as much impact over there, since it was not as novel as in the west.

Anyone who's been in this thread for a while knows this: but the rise of social games has very little to do with IOS games(whose market share is negligible, android sales much better then ios in Japan)

I knew something was up when the pre-orders were sold out at amazon.jp.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B0050MLQLA/

Still out of stock. Will be in stock on July 10th.

You think Nintendo is shipping low numbers like with Zelda?
yes, it never really went that up on the amazon either. But I think it will be among the best selling fps games.
(btw, shipping around 150K for a console with 1million user base isn't shipping low number. It's like shipping 15 million CoD on the first week, even for a game of that caliber it isn't low. But 007 is shipped in low numbers I believe)

Some tracker 1st week discrepancies, waiting for Famitsu:
Code:
			M-Create	Dengeki Famitsu
Atelier Totori 53,871 72,725 72,836
Atelier Meruru 82,585 93,430 ?
Steins;Gate PSP 63,558 80,730 ?
Funny if Meruru repeats Totori scenario, although not as big.

Wow just insanely great numbers for Steins;Gate, it brings me tears of hope that this style of adventure games instead of extreme Moe can flourish.

I still remember people calling bomba when Rorona's first day numbers were revealed. Heh.
Gust's success makes me happy both because I like their games and because, from the very start of the generation, they adopted the business model that I believe is best for smaller jrpg developers.

Btw, you mixed up Rorona's and Meruru's titles in the third entry of your list.

This is probably the best place for this type of news, as its the thread I've posted in for 4+ years- I became a father Monday night- a beautiful baby girl.

Apologies if its a bit OT, but to bring it somewhat into the gaming realm, her name is Mackenzie, and everyone is already calling her Little Mac.

Congratulation, even if it is a little bit late. I envy you for having a daughter. I only have sons.

These estimates sound right, in line with retailer reports.

Next Famitsu must have half year top 100, so someone [cough]cvxfreak[/cough] will have to buy it.

Strong start for many new ●, "Tales of the Abyss" won top spot

This time, "Tales of the Abyss" won the top spot. Same title, the PlayStation 2 version was released in 2005, "Tales of the Abyss" will be portable, as the title for the Nintendo 3DS has been higher turnout. The second place of the PlayStation 3 "Super Street Fighter IV arcade edition" is ranked. In addition, the third "Traveler's Dungeon Heart 2", the fourth "GoldenEye 007" is also highly digestible, and had favorable start.

Well seems like Goldeneye did "very well" for its genre (and not being CoD), I seriously expected it to bomb.

I don't really understand the google translated famitsu article... Are they saying Abyss 3DS had a higher start than the PS2 version? That would be quite the feat.

Also I never realized Mario Sports Mix sold that well in Japan, that's pretty impressive considering how mediocre the game is.

Impossible

[PS2] Tales of the Abyss (Namco) - 368.316 / 556.465 / 66,19% 15/12/05

That would have been the end :lol
I think something about 70-75k.

Oh indeed, I knew it started high but not that high heh. 70k seems more likely (and it will never reach the 250k LTD that Namco is expecting)

Abyss is number one but it could still be around 50k which would be underwhelming. I hope it has legs.

EDIT: Just saw Azalyn estimates. 80k isn't bad but lower than ALL DS Tales opening. Not bad, but not great either.

80k sounds about right for a remake.
