In this thread, we discuss games that should be made, and why

Pokemon RPG on home consoles

Does this really need an explanation?

You wouldn't think so right? I still don't understand why they haven't made one.
And if there were ever a time, wouldn't the Wii U be it? Imagine a Pokemon RPG as a Wii U launch title utilizing the Wii U's controller. A no brainer I would think.

Is Nintendo trying to suggest it wouldn't sell millions of copies? Because we all know it would. They could even release two versions with minor differences like they do for handhelds. I'd still buy both.

Valkyrie Profile 3: Hrist

Why? Because Valkyrie Profile has the best battle system in RPG ever. Valkyries are awesome, and a new VP would look amazing.

Mostly, though, because I want to buy it and play it.

It may be rumored but Star Wars Battlefront 3.
Man I loved playing part 2 on Xbox live. Having one person on each team be a jedi and tearing shit up was awesome. Hell, they need to make a proper console multiplayer Star Wars game of some sort. Jedi Acadamy's multiplayer was a fucking blast.

I want a full fledged Metroidvania on the consoles, fuck the handhelds.

2d sprites and in HD, ala Rayman Origins.

Make it tough as nails.

Make my dick hard.

Make it.

son of a bitch, I came in here to suggest the exact same thing after playing Streets of Rage recently

Sorry. ^^;

Panzer Dragoon MMO.

Finding Dragoon eggs, raising them PSO MAG style, fly them around the work and kill stuff. Massive MMO sky battles.

DO IT!

I'd buy it for a high price, and the idea of an MMO where you raise and fly on Dragons just sounds too amazing for words!

Shenmue HD. Release an HD version of the 1st two games on XBLA/PSN/Steam.

If they bomb then Shemue can rest in peace, if they sell then it can be used as the wake up call to make the mythological Shenmue III.

They really should, since they must keep getting requests for Shenmue III it would be the easiest way to definitely prove whether a large enough audience exists or not.

Before Crisis Final Fantasy VII remake for Vita.

Make it in 2D "high resolution" sprites with the art style of the original. The mobile version never came to the west, although it was originally announced for it at one point. A Vita remake would be the perfect way to finally do so.

I would definitely be down with this. Might be a good fit as a downloadable title too depending on how they approach it (episodic like the JPN release?)

Castlevania: Back to it's Roots

Go old school and take Castlevania back to it's roots. Make a 2d game that's level based ala Castlevania I/III/IV. I'd personally prefer something closer to Castlevania III, but I'd take what I can get.

I'd love for a nice 2d old school version on the 3DS where we get 3d effect in all of the parallax scrolling going on in the background. Would work perfectly to because the best 3D on the 3DS is all stuff going into the screen verses trying to pop stuff out at us, and the backgrounds would of course be going into the screen away from us.

I also think going back to it's roots would keep the Castlevania vibe, but it would still give it a break from the Metroidvania style that some at Konami think Iga sort of rode into the ground.

Hell they could do a multiplatform version where they do a 3ds and a Vita version each with slightly different strengths IE the Vita could get higher resolution graphics, and the 3ds could get the parallax 3d effect. Then Konami could make money back on the project from both systems.

I bolded this part because you're completely right. 2D would look great on the 3DS if they used it that way because the 3D on the 3DS is WAY better at making things go in than pop out.

Colony Wars

I got this for the PS1 back in the day and it was so much fun. I can only imagine a full game of space combat with modern day graphics.

Zelda game with Zelda as the heroine, and isn't just "LOOK I'M A GIRL SAVING THE PRINCE" every ten seconds. No pink anything, either.

A sequel or a game based on the Killer7 world. Even better, they may use the original concept, where you play as different people from different time periods (and it may even include the original assassinations by Emir/Garcian).

Mirror's Edge 2. This first game was one of the most original and interesting games of this generation, and the absolutely gorgeous art direction really made it stand out. Multiplayer could easily be integrated with live races rather than time trials. Being able to race against other human players across a giant city would be incredible.

Sorry, I had to!

I agree, Mirror's Edge had tons of potential. If fleshed out it could have become an amazing franchise.

Virtua Fighter for PC
Fighters are fairly popular once again with tournaments popping up left and right for Street Fighter and Tekken. VF should attempt to ride this wave, but not just by doing the same thing that everyone else is doing and sticking to consoles primarily. I imagine a version built specifically for a 7970 3gb card. Being built for pc first would allow it to stand out as they could just show the "highest" settings but it would scale as most pc games do, down to console/low settings. PC first as a way to give high end card purchasers a good show piece along with an updated VF.net. This would get VF some good exposure since basically nobody would target pc first for a "mass market" fighter. Imagine Virtua Fighter being used as "the" test, the way Crysis or Quake 3 used to be. The characters would be almost too realistic looking.

A new Jumping Flash with modern controls and vibrant HD graphics would be pretty insane.

It'd certainty be a breath of fresh air among the glut of FPS's we have nowadays.

Something like Z.O.E. 3 or some sort of mecha-game on the Wii that utilizes Wiimote Plus, Nunchuk with the Wii Balance board. Or the Wiimote gun with balance board. Controlling flight, movement and combat with balance board and the wiimote seems like it would be really fun. Nintendo hasn't done much of anything with the balance board lately. They honestly created an entire peripheral of that size for just one game?

Also...FFVIIremake. Too many fans want this. That should be enough reason for SE to figure out how to make it and make it right.

Nintendo vs. Capcom

It's the best of both worlds, both have bloody iconic characters, have a history in fighting games and have collaborated on previous projects before, I'm a bit surprised it hasn't happened already.

Besides who wouldn't want to play a game where you use Marios fireballs against Ryu's Hadokens :P

Resident Evil 4 3D

A complete port of RE4 to 3DS, something I feel Capcom could easily do given that it's already on every other platform in the known universe.

New Ubi Shooter in the vein of NeoTokyo

NeoTokyo the mod already has a ton of things that make you say hey it's sort of like Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell or even Ghost Recon. There also currently isn't a shooter in play that is really like this game in terms of multiplayer.

A cyber punk shooter that leans a little more hardcore (similar to most Ubi shooters) and brings with it all of the coolness of leveling up with none of the drawbacks as it's only per map then everything resets. So it solves the CoD not being say level 42 and getting WTFPWNT when you start. It could appeal to the Tom Clancy players of old and people that play games like SOCOM.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Wii-U

Well the Wii-U has the tablet so it solves the hold need for some ghetto setup to play the game like on the Gamecube. As someone who conquered the ghettoness (I have fond memories of the weekend I got a ton of people over and we played 4 player with others watching all night) the game itself is great fun.

Also you could get back to some system pushing graphics unlike the Wii game that was basically a DS port uprezed. Plus it would be a great game for the Nintendo Network that could make use of online to meet up and play with all of the bells and whistles that the Network provides.

You'd also be bring a Final Fantasy game to the system (even if it's name only) that's a known quantity to Nintendo fans with the GCN, DS, and Wii releases that would be a nice online game to push that wouldn't be your stereotypical shooter, sports, racer, or fighter. It would fit right next to Mario Kart and Call of Duty.

Finally beyond the graphics I think just the new hardware would allow them to explore the gameplay and the mechanics and such without being hampered. DS was a logical chose as it got around the GCN problem of needing a link cable + GBA, but it was a step back in terms of what could be done in a 3D space with multiplayer action on the DS. DS hardware just can't keep up with everything that could be going on. Wii-U obviously won't remotely have this problem. So they can fully do whatever their hearts desire gameplay wise.

PS: I'd take a separate new FFCC for the 3ds as well. 3ds has solid online and the hardware is more than capable of giving us an experience similar to the cube one.

Shadowrun Arcade

Shadowrun came out in 2007, it was over-priced, under marketed and had a gimmick that pissed gamers off (cross-platform with Vista). No one wanted to pay $60 (on 360) for a multiplayer only game they had never heard of, and if they had heard of it, the concept of a Shadowrun FPS was blasphemy. On PC you had to buy a new $300+ OS that sucked, pay $50 to play online with GFWL and then buy the game for $50. Obviously the game bombed and was reviewed poorly (although most reviews mentioned its stellar gameplay), it had matchmaking issues right at the start that didn't get fixed for a month.

Outside of all this, the game is an amazing, unique, well designed and impeccably balanced team based FPS for competitive and casual play. It is the most hardcore multiplayer shooter I can think of on console. It deserves more love, and although it is cheap and still has a small cult community, it could succeed if resurrected with an XBLA Remake. It fits the bill perfectly, multiplayer only, not a ton of content, but still plenty and hard hitting original gameplay that would fit XBLA well.

Update it with some individual career stat tracking, better matchmaking and custom game options, release it for $15 and it should do very well. If it does exceptionally well, finish those rumored 5 almost done maps FASA had before they closed and release them as DLC packs, 1 map Free, then 2 packs paid with 2 maps each for 240-400 points.

I can gree with home console 2D Metroidvania. But it needs graphics like Muramasa.

Also, REmake 2, because the REmake is still the best Resident Evil game followed by RE2.

A stealth/action game based on Darker Than Black.

Because the world needs more Chinese Electric Batman. A stealth game where you have Yin as your radar, Huang as your mission instructor and Mao as your buddy kitty.

FUND IT!

And yes, I'm a huge DTB cocksucker.

Secret of Mana PSN/XBLA

There aren't much ports of this game (only on iOS and VC now) but if you were to release it to JRPG-starved, nostalgic PS360 owners, they'll gobble it up. Plus there are little to no non-PSone JRPGs on PSN/XBLA.

Skies of Arcadia HD for PSN and XBLA

Since Sega is (or was) interested in the DC HD program, putting out this fantastic JRPG will definitely be a good idea.

Any game, any type, any genre.

But with complete content from the start for the full experience. No annoying bugs. No DLC. No pre-order shenanigans. No bullshit.

Just. A. Complete. Product. Delivered. Out. From. The. Gate.

Mutant League Football

51cXRmnTLTL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Or something akin to it since EA might still hold rights to this game. The reason it needs to be made is that Madden has the right to the NFL players association so when other companies try to make football games it is with generic players and never as much fun. Obviously with mutants that's not an issue. It would work great as an XBLA/PSN game. Nothing was better than winning a football game through attrition, all the other teams QB's injured/dead? You win!

Space Channel 5 with Motion Control (/w gun attachment) support. Get in on the fitness gaming market, but make it a real game that does it. Motion control gun (Up, Down, Left, Right, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot).

Or even better, Sega Superstars with motion control. Seeing how they could build good gameplays with the eyetoy, I would be thrilled to see a game using kinect, especially for the Virtua Fighter, Samba de Amigo and SC5 minigames (they can keep the Crazy Taxi one :D).
Actually they could sell each minigame individually at a reasonable price on XBLA, and I would buy them.

I have always had this dream of a fighting game akin to virtua fighter. That really focuses on close range hand to hand combat. Kind of like the old Kung Fu movies. It would be your standard fighting game, but at some point when you and your opponent are in close range it would switch to this fast paced punch block and counter kind of mini game.

Something that really concentrates on up close combat with lots of Kung Fu, kenpo, akido, and wu shu technincs.

The fact that this isn't a given with every game anymore is probably the absolute worst aspect of this gen. Especially the DLC part.

Phantasy Star V in the style of Phantasy Star.

Why? Cause we need old-school JRPGs that are hard.

Sim City 5

Why? Cause....I don't really need to explain why.

Metal Gear Solid 5
with the boss as the main character.
Play through. the sorrow as the final boss. all the usual metal gear mellowdrama.

After The Boss's failure in the Mercury Mission, The Sorrow and The Boss encountered each other in Tselinoyarsk, 1962. The Sorrow was ultimately killed by The Boss, at his own request, in order to ensure the safety of their son, whom the Philosophers had threatened to kill if both were to survive. Before he died, The Sorrow told her, "the spirit of the warrior will always be with you." He was then killed by a bullet to the left eye that shattered his glasses. His son would later become a major in GRU, codenamed Ocelot.

Kojima already placed all the hooks to make it into a game. I am 80% sure this will be metal gear solid 5.

Sacrifice 2 should be made as the sequel to the Shiny Entertainment game. Why? Because I'm tired of every game being a shooter. It gets very boring. We don't need a million shooting games. Give me strategy and let me use my brain.

The original Sacrifice was one of the most awesome strategy action games ever created. A ton of fun and it would be a blockbuster seller on steam now that the pc has risen again.

Blade Runner using something like the Mass Effect engine. Walking through The Citadel really made me wonder what it'd be like, I think technology is good enough that justice could be done to the film.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

Because the original while not perfect laid the foundations of a great action series with espectacular visuals intriguing story and actually gameplay worth experiencing.

Also that ending was HOLY SHIT BEST ENDING EVER and we need to know what happened.

NOW.

As i said in the other thread:
An open world AKIRA game.
The reasons are as follows:

1) Kaneda, Kaneda's bike and that laser rifle to go with it.

2) Amazing biker gang wars, along with them light trails:

PLEASE, someone HAS to do a decent Akira game, c'mon now.

A sequel to Herzog Zwei, simply because it's my favorite game of all time

A proper Altered Beast 2 because all the other versions after the original Arcade and Genesis versions have sucked balls. I kind of want it to be more like Shadow Of The Beast from the Amiga, a sort of free-roaming game instead of a forced-scrolling game.

Military Madness 3 because the Nectaris series simply kicks ass.

Phantasy Star V although it was already mentioned.
