Let's take a short break from the main story to cover some "Missions & Memories"!

M&Ms.1

Missions: SOLDIER vs Security
ibx0sr3PBTRA5E.jpg

That Shinra security Captain issued a challenge to Zack who doesn't refuse! When he mops the floor with them the first time, the Captain says the guys Zack fought this time were little more than rookies. When his men go down in the next mission he claims they were treating it as a training mission but won't anymore! The next defeat gets blamed on budget and the fact that security doesn't rely on medical enhancements to fight. The end of the fourth mission showed the Captain in high spirits even though his guys lost. They got orders from Director Heidegger to test some new weapons in combat. Well those new weapons were no match for Zack, leaving the Captain feeling down in the dumps. He says if they lose one more time he'll concede that SOLDIER is better than them. Even with a big shiny new mech on their side, they get served a final defeat. Back in Sector 8, Zack asks the guy why he even hates SOLDIER. Turns out he just wanted to motivate his men who take it easy knowing SOLDIER is around. A good intention but regardless of their titles, each group protects Midgar an that's what counts!

Missions: Mako Stones
ibe0Ge1S7PYcf1.jpg

A researcher in the SOLDIER materia department suggested that Zack should go out hunting for mako stones and he did just that! When he came back with the first one he stuck around to see how materia is created. Its a more exciting process than you'd think! For sticking around they let him keep the newly created materia and so Zack decides to go out hunting for more! The next time back the researcher says Zack's someone they've come to depend on, but they may never get to work together again. What, why?! Well, because Director Scarlet is spearheading materia R&D under the Arms Development branch, while their group is low on funds and understaffed! The next time Zack returns the guy is in a better mood cause cause his departments materia reputation is growing. So much that Scarlet, who wanted to shut them down, was humiliated at a board meeting! When he returns from another mission things are looking up cause the plans to close 'em down got scrapped and its all thanks to Zack!

Memories: The Road to 1st Class
i7tRLQZbWocKh.jpg
igZZefdv6QYEb.jpg

Zack recalls a chat he once had with Angeal.

Angeal: "The road to becoming 1st is not easy. It's not just about strength..."
Zack: "I know, I know... But still, I want to be 1st."
Angeal: "Listen to me, Zack. If you want to be 1st..."
Zack: "I'll embrace my dreams and honor! And one day, I will become a hero!"
Angeal: "Very well, then... You have my support."

Memories: Training Hard?
iby3mXi6jyB86Q.jpg
ilM1ZEX0pKybw.jpg

Zack recalls one of his lackluster training sessions.

Angeal: "You've been training hard, I hope?"
Zack: "You bet! I leveled up and everything!"
Angeal: "Then let's see the fruits of your labor. This is your data from last month. "
Zack: "All right! Prepare to be trounced, last month's data! Hrraaahhh!"
*Zack vs Virtual Zack*
Angeal: "No improvement whatsoever..."
Zack: "Aaagh!"
Angeal: "Maybe I should leave him with Sephiroth for a while..."

Memories: One Shotted
iM2hzMC2y8fmE.jpg
i9PmnvSmTC1gq.jpg

Zack recalls Sephiroth giving him some pointers.

Sephiroth: "Take out enemies with one blow. Now, try it. One blow, you hear me?"
Zack: "What!? No demonstration? Fine, fine! I'll do it! There it is! One blow!"
*slash!*
Zack: "There it is! One blow!"
Sephiroth: "Your opponent was too weak. Try another."

Memories: Leaving Wutai
ibyVa6ShInbTts.jpg
is3t9OtubuPr3.jpg

Zack recalls the end of his Wutai assignment.

Lazard: "Good work, both of you. Where is Angeal?"
Sephiroth: "Nowhere to be found. I'll explain later. The situation grows more grave by the minute. We must be prepared."

Bonus: If you want to take screenshots on your PSP, follow Stumpokapow's instructions here and here.
Bonus 2: Need to get rid of black borders in your pictures? Look here.
Bonus 3: In the event that any Vita FF game is released, you can take screenshots by pressing the Home and Start button at the same time. This does NOT work for PSP and PSX games on the Vita.

If you find a mistake or something I missed, feel free to contact me.
Also, if you have a better version of one of the logo images (that still looks good at 60px height), send me a PM.

Jucksalbe, I am ashamed at how many of those logos you had to look up to accommodate me and me alone. What is it, three games? I'm so sorry.

Haha, don't worry. Most of them were easy to find. I didn't find anything for Final Fantasy Legends 2, though. At least nothing that would still look good shrunk to this size. That's why I used the SaGa logo.

LAST TIME: We ended up meeting Cid's son Orran, and we had to fend off multiple attacks on Beef's mama. In this update, we get to see Alma again, as well as an unexpected guest.

Still, Beef is nothing if not loyal. Even through all of this drama, he still believes Delita is in there somewhere.

It's at this point where a fight starts against this guy, with Alma joining you in battle. Your party members are also in this fight, right behind that huge wall (which sucks for the members with limited movement, since the door is only big enough to fit one person at a time). Alma has a pretty neat ability called...Aegis, I believe, that casts Haste, Regen and Reraise on one person. It's very handy, and Alma will usually cast it on her big brother first. Awwwww~

The fight itself isn't too difficult, but like always I have to make things take twice as long because I want to loot everyone who is holding something worthwhile. Eventually my Chemist gets knocked out, so I end up cutting the battle quickly to make sure she doesn't die permanently. You don't actually need to kill everyone, or even kill the Confessor. If you get him to critical damage, he auto-flees with everyone else and you win the battle. Yay for easy stuff!

From here on out (which is only one mission), Alma joins the party. It's a good idea to loot her since she's holding some good stuff for your female party members, and she'll be leaving in the next story mission. Speaking of which, we'll see that IN OUR NEXT UPDATE.

3rd Class SOLDIERs wear blue, 2nd Class wears red, 1st Class wears black. Zack was a 2nd Class yet he wore dark blue. What gives? Maybe Square didn't think a lead character wearing red would go over well...

Pt.6 "The Town's in a Lot of Danger?"

iqqrovbpMEfqm.jpg
ii3W4RmF9mX1x.jpg

The war's over and everyones real happy aside from Zack who's still pining for Angeal to return. Sephiroth calls him up saying Lazard wants to see him... but that can wait. Let's chat up some of the people hanging around the SOLDIER floor! By doing so we learn some interesting tidbits such as Banora's budget was being paid for by Shinra, Angeal's mom used to work for Shinra's Science Department, and an anti-Shinra organization is wreaking havoc the world over. Although he hasn't yet been given an assignment, checking the supply pods nets him a Star Pendant all the same! He comes across a 3rd Class'er getting scolded and feeling really down cause he's not doing so great. Zack offers to take on the guys next mission as long as he watches, learns, and doesn't tell anyone! At the entrance to the training room is a member of Security who says Zack isn't permitted to pass... "But, I being the coward that I am, cannot muster the courage to enforce this prohibition upon you."

iOzdkHTP3N7Z4.jpg
ibtFYN8vWtvGbG.jpg

iqZnvIs8jnT89.jpg
iZnR5ZQhRNIL3.jpg

Since no one was stopping him Zack strolls on in and encounters a scientist called Hojo who gets him to participate in his experiment to test virtual data based on a certain member of SOLDIER. Zack slices his way through three waves of virtual chumps and Hojo offers him a chance to face one more experimental program. It's supposed to be impossible to defeat even by SOLDIER and yet the 'Experiment #88' monster falls! Hojo seems to take a liking to Zack while the other researchers wonder if he's even human just because he beat their virtual monster. After all that and some other things maybe we should stop leaving Lazard hanging. Over by the elevators is Kunsel who breaks the news that Zack is still an unknown. So much for his bravery being remembered for generations! Heroes are chosen by the media, thems the breaks.

iP4aaKFfrccNw.jpg
iusXDKHXWPuIT.jpg

Up in Lazard's office he gives Zack some good news: he's been promoted to 1st Class! Zack thought he'd have felt happier upon reaching that status and yet he's still feeling kinda bummed out. No time for that though, with this he gets a new assignment and is to change uniforms right away! After changing into his new black uniform a researcher stops by and tells him he's authorized to use Materia Fusion now and gives him some materia to demo it with. That Thunder materia is uh all well and good but Zack aims higher. Master Cure + Master Regen = Curaga! That should come in handy, as is the fact that he can now equip up to 6 materia at a time! An e-mail from Shinra claims both Angeal & Genesis were killed but that's bull. Even Kunsel says they're not fooling him!

ibhPXBIVkuRvQB.jpg
iboLSuPjIfV445.jpg

Down in Sector 8 the Angeal & Genesis fangirls are all mopey at this news. A man informs the oblivious Zack that there are monsters surrounding Midgar and Kalm and that even bigger monsters may one day target Shinra. A woman talks about a "dandy gentleman on a black Chocobo" who saved her. Anyone know a guy like that? Anywho, back to the directors office! "The company has decided to eliminate Genesis and his cohorts. This includes Angeal as well." The company doesn't trust Zack to do it thanks to his attachment to the big guy so instead the Shinra Army is gonna handle it. His and Sephiroth's assignment is something else... which they would get to if the building wasn't suddenly under attack! Sephiroth has to go guard the president while Zack's ordered to defend the buildings entrance!

iiytW02GV53AE.jpg
i1hokZXUrWlR4.jpg

But instead of the ground floor the elevator stops on the 49th one! He steps out and finds a researcher begging him to stop some mechs which are easily dealt with. For whatever reason, the intruder neutralization mechs have gone haywire and there's more around which the researcher asks Zack to look into! The director told him to go to the entrance but... he decides to check out the situation on the current floor first. Its a good thing cause there's already a man down! Zack saves him from the mechs then hears a scream from the training room. Inside is a couple of regular employees, why would they be there? The mob of mechs are easily dealt with using the Jump materia's area of effect to bash multiples of 'em at once! Seems the two people are maintenace staff or something. Dunno why they beg Zack not to tell anyone they were there but he agrees and gets a 5000 gil thank you! Lazard calls up and tells him to get to the ground floor already cause they've been massively compromised!

ihrKmSGbCCoEp.jpg
iUGYSiCv0HgPw.jpg

ibkS00WYTk3MNY.jpg
isyKC77l3giCO.jpg

Yeah... I'd call that massive. While other SOLDIER members take a beating Zack fights off a large wave of Genesis's goons & mechs. Sephiroth shows up and thinks that some former Shinra scientist named Hollander is behind the attack. After he lost his bid to become the Science Department lead to Hojo he stole the copy technology and left. Neither of them wanna believe Genesis is working with some guy who's just looking for petty revenge. Once they quit musing Sephiroth remembers that Sector 8 is also under attack! He coulda spoke up about that sooner!! In town Zack sees a young lady surrounded by Genesis copies and tries to save her but instead gets a baton to the noggin!

Ouch! Wait, I thought Shinra Security protected the town! Or SOLDIERs! But Turks?! Let's hope this doesn't turn into a three way rumble! The nice young lady makes short work of the baddies on her own and introduces herself as Cissnei of the Turks. Zack says its a pleasure to meet her but the chitchats cut short by Tseng who reminds him he's on assignment. Cissnei's added to the DMW? But he just met her! Then again, Tseng was also added to it when they first met. Off to Loveless Avenue where he saves a man, woman, and child from mechs which they gratefully reward him for. Alil further in he finds Cissnei not faring so well against a Genesis copy who appears to be a cut above the masked ones.

This G Avenger isn't fooling around. Attacking with a blade and shotgun he gives Zack some trouble. He better thank his Lucky Stars that Cissnei's on the DMW! "You can do it, Zack!" "Yeah! I'm on fire now!" this grants him a status where his attacks are always critical! This helps out greatly in taking the copy down. It sprouts a black wing and tries to fly away but Zack cuts it down for good. Cissnei speaks about how she wanted to have angel wings but dummy Zack has to be a downer by saying that if people had wings they'd be monsters. She tries to cheer him up by saying he put up an impressive fight and rewards him with the phone number to Research Department shop before leaving for her next job. Sephiroth's over at Mako Reactor 5 and tells Zack to head over there cause Angeal's been sighted...

Eloquent Princess
Last time on Batman’s Dying Dream, Batman made us all know that he’s one of the shittiest protagonists in all of Final Fantasy because he can’t get shit done. Even when he’s beaten the final boss, he still fails to protect the crystal because he’s afraid of hands.

Today, we’re going to see if we can climb a tower.

CAtXz.gif
Giott, the Great King

znmoC.png
vm95W.png

Yeah, don’t tell Giott why Golbez got the last crystal or anything.

Hpnz1.gif
I need to find a way to prove that I’m a hero in the most batshit way. Clair coming to save the day isn’t it, and my way of bringing her back was to atone for killing her mom and making Leviatan eat her whole. And hands are my biggest fear, so I’ll put that in my dream too! And I’ll make Giott super-drunk so he doesn’t ask questions!

zWjSn.png
JvXGS.png

Golbez could steal the key if he truly wanted to, or he could break into the sealed cave because magic. If he could turn into a freaking hand, well, you know.

KXLAi.png
WuamG.png
pxUoN.png

Can I switch protagonists? Giott seems like the ideal protagonist next to Golbez. Dude knows how to get shit done.

I also think Donnie forgot a “that” in his sentence.

mWNA4.png
Pfd9R.png

Batman sucks so much. So indecisive as a leader. Fucking lead, dude. That’s your job. And people want you to be the King of Baron? No thanks.

We agree to do it anyway, and Giott tells us that there’s a path under the castle.

BKlZz.png
oL8Tg.png

Great. Let’s just Warp outta here to get some XP.

3lkGc.png
ld9hU.png

Uh…

Golbez didn’t take the crystal at all, dude. Let’s show King Giott at once and end this game!

Nah. Let’s not. This is one of the ways you can break the game if you’re speedrunning. The Warp spell takes you to the room that you were previously in. Cast it right after you talk to Giott and you’ll be back in the crystal room. This map is basically the one for the Crystal Room in the Sealed Cave. Later on in the game, you’ll be able to take one of the Darkness crystals and it’ll be in your inventory. This allows you to skip the Sealed Cave dungeon altogether (and just get the scene to progress).

But we’re not going to do that. I’ll suffer through the entire game.

Back to the main game now.

So, my Clair is pretty strong (typically, she’ll be in her mid-20s in terms of levels). But we encounter a problem immediately after she comes back: she is equipped with a Whip. A whip weapon of any type in this game will render your ability to score critical hits obsolete. You will never ever be able to score a critical again. This is true for a few other weapons in this game.

Because Clair isn’t primarily a physical fighter, this isn’t much of a problem… unless you don’t like to cast magic a lot. Speaking of magic, Clair comes back stacked with Tier-2 spells and Virus (she learned Psych after the boss battle). But you’ll soon see that Tier-2 spells aren’t really going to cut it anymore. They’re effective, but we can do better in terms of damage output. We’ll need Tier-3 spells soon. Clair can no longer use White Magic for a completely bullshit reason, but to be fair, Batman already has the shitty White Mage role covered.

Clair now has a lot of Call spells. She’s gained the Mist Dragon (the thing Batman and Tommy killed at the beginning of the game), regained Titan (you know, the thing that killed Batman and Tommy at the beginning of the game), and gained Shiva, Indra, and Jinn.

Without getting too in-depth…
Indra is the god of war and thunderstorms in Hindu mythology whose weapon is the vajra.
Shiva is the destroyer or transformer among the Hindu Trinity of the divine—he destroys the world and recreates it in a cyclical manner. Shiva’s representation in Final Fantasy is completely different from that in the Hindu religion. Shiva is generally thought as both male and female (but is generally denoted as male), and has blue skin due to consuming poison to save the world. No, Shiva does not consist of twin sisters who turn into a motorcycle.
Titan comes from Greek mythology; they were overthrown by the Olympians and symbolized many things.
Ifrit is the name given to a class of Djinn/Jinn, and they are the ones that symbolize fire.

Anyway, no one cares about this stuff, so let’s go exploring!!

They don’t know how to use the word “our”! That is adorable.

I don’t like their weapon selection. And dwarf weapons and armours are expensive! Rune Rings are helpful, so grab those. I never really equip Beer with a bow and arrows, so we’re going to leave her alone. We could pick up the Fire weapon for Tommy in terms of a completion thing, though. He doesn’t need the Fire Armour.

CVMHs.png

Anyway, what’s that space between the shops?

zyuMz.png

This café has a kickass name and no one’s here? What the? And there’s a space in the corner that looks like it can lead down to somewhere but there’s nothing there. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

5AjsC.png

Oh son, you wouldn’t believe it. We got shipwrecked, we had to fight some Dark Elf from the first Final Fantasy game, even we’re bad guys because we steal crystals from people… it’s a tough world up there, man.

RzVQP.png

We don’t even need to ask fucking permission here. These dwarves are on the Cool List.

VY8av.png

Do not equip this in the SNES version. Don’t. Do not do it. It will take your criticals away forever. Axes are a class of weapon which removes your critical forever. It is currently your most powerful weapon in your inventory, so people are likely to equip it without realizing how dumb some of the programming is in this game.

Hey guys, remember how we always made fun of Final Fantasy XIII’s dialogue?

m2juc.png

FF’s dialogue has always been insane; it’s just more noticeable now with all the voice acting, and how seriously the narratives take themselves now.

The Bird of Sacred, you say? You’re telling me that a GF from Final Fantasy VIII owns the Big Chocobo? That’s pretty kick-ass. But we all know the real reason is that all the trees melted in the presence of all that magma so they had to shove the Big Chocobo in here somewhere…

When are they going to upgrade to the Nintendo Cannon 64?

Land of Dwarves

This is one of the better BGMs on the soundtracks. Lots of bass, and a nice arrangement of the Main Theme of Final Fantasy IV. It’s more subdued, and it feels mellower than the original overworld theme. The arrangement of the tune is indicative that you’ve moved onto a completely new segment of the game and left the previous one behind.

I cannot stand the DS version at all, omg. The synth in the DS version so bad. It’s terrible. It completely butchers the original version of the theme. I don’t like most of the DS arranged soundtrack, and this BGM is one of the worst offenders.

This is what the Dancing Dagger does when used as an item. It deals magic damage to an enemy and you can easily use it from the back row. This is going to be Clair’s physical attack for a while.

m6L1e.png
Y0dIk.png
RXwxg.png

Just showing off what the new summons do. We’re not going to use them much. I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t like using summons anymore in Final Fantasy.

A special note about Mist Dragon, which I didn’t show off here… it is non-elemental, but it’ll do more damage if Clair has more HP.

btnCs.png
S4Th2.png

There’s a bunch of new enemies down here, but they’re pretty easy to straighten out. The BlackLiz is something we encountered on the surface, and we already know we can spam Ice2 at it. Mighty the Armadilo decided to come here after Sega ditched him, and he’s incredibly unremarkable. No wonder Sega don’t care about him. And we have Dark Imps. They are also unremarkable. Clair can kill them with her Dancing Dagger.

Man Clair is so much better than Abe. Abe sucks.

The dwarves are there to distract the Super Nintendo Cannon. For some reason I am able to use a Tent right in front of the Tower of Bab-il and stand on the tanks perfectly fine. The dwarves don’t care. They let me do whatever I want.

Tower of Bab-il

Welcome to the Tower of Bab-il. No, not the Tower of Babel, like in Mystic Quest and the Bible/Torah. For some reason they were afraid of calling it by name here. Oh, and they added such a neat little hyphen in the middle of the name because they thought it would look all cool and futuristic. And Golbez spent a crapload of money to make this place look futuristic and awesome.

I hate this dungeon. There’s a lot of walking around, and I don’t have a run button in this version. This is Golbez’s house. Or his Cottage of Love from the Future. I don’t know what Zot was, tbh. It was in space. The Tower of Bab-il extends from the Underworld, through a mountain range near Eblan, and into the sky. It’s pretty big. And we have to climb most of it. It’s annoying. But Golbez needs to live in style, surrounded by stuff from the future. He deserves it because he knows how to outwit every single one of his opponents.

Well, outwitting Batman is clearly the easiest thing in the world. Even in his dying dream he’s an idiot who can’t do anything right.

Anyway, I’m not going to spend most of the update going, “this floor is annoying, because…” as that’ll make the update really really long. So let’s talk about the enemies.

There are a lot of new enemy types in this dungeon. The Marion can summon EvilDolls once you’ve cleared most of them from the battlefield. You can use this to your advantage to grind EXP, actually. Hit the dolls with fire-elemental weapons or with a Fire spell (but that would be a waste, imo, since they don’t have that much HP to begin with).

We also encounter FlameMans and Flame Dogs. Hit them with Donnie’s Ice Claw, Clair’s Ice spells, or the two Ice-elemental weapons for Tommy and Batman that you can find in the Tower. You also find Ice Arrows in here, but they aren’t worth using. Tofus are also weak against Ice. Stonemans / Stoneman #s are weak against Ice as well. Mystery Eggs in here hatch into a BlackLiz, so hit them with an Ice-Elemental attack.

Medusas will do what you think they’ll do: try to cast stone on you. Just, uh, hit them with anything, I guess. Chimeras absorb Lit, Fire, and Ice attacks. They’ll try to quickly take you out with a Blaze attack (which is Ice elemental). You can either petrify them with Medusa Arrows, or take them out with my favourite spell Virus. Nagas are unremarkable.

Alerts are assholes that are basically Golbez’s car alarms. If you touch them, they’ll summon a monster security guard. And Golbez has Stoneman #s, Nagas, Chimeras, and Hot Dogs as security guards. If you kill the summoned monster before killing it, it’ll just summon another one. It should be your first target because it will not shut up.

8Ok5z.png

Did I mention this dungeon is long? Because it’s long. Oh, this room seems important. We’ll probably be able to get to the Important Room after the special boss.

Speaking of which…

pua9m.png

Boy oh boy this doesn’t look good. Golbez isn’t at home, but he has his two roommates hanging out in the middle of nowhere.

U7wVt.png
OLUZS.png
dE1qJ.png

Eblan probably fell at the beginning of the game, probably? It’s probably been days or weeks since we’ve raided Eblan’s treasure chests. Welp, at least one of them is gone so we only have one to deal with. And I think this is the easier one.

B4OFc.gif
Dancing Calcobrena

Vr3Rs.png

And he dances around a little bit after this. He’s kinda weird.

Hey guys, I think this is Proto-Hojo. He is a mad scientist working for Golbez (Golbez has the bloody world working for him, obviously). He’s pretty insane, but he shares Hojo’s love for fucking things up with Science with a capital S. <3 Science.

I wonder which scientist he admires the most? Probably one that didn’t care about ethical boards, just like Hojo.

…wait a minute, since when did this game give a crap about science outside of airships? I thought we were supposed to explain everything by saying, “because… magic”? I don’t get it.

VFtfR.png
bvKrl.png
59pRE.png

Haha. It’s funny because they must be around the same age in terms of appearance but Beer needs to calm the overstimulated Clair down. Oh, and the best part of this entire dialogue point is that Lugae is alerted to our presence by Clair’s exclamation. Even though we’re, like, 10 feet away or something. And sometimes when he’s dancing about like a madman, he’s looking straight at the party.

Everyone except Golbez and King Giott in this game must be an idiot.

0MoVu.png

9ILrw.png

Tommy must’ve been all buddy-buddy with Hojo before this when he was on the winning team. Either way, Tommy’s being way more manly and heroic than Batman could ever aspire to be. Tommy deserves the Beer more than Batman does.

RoU4U.png

Uh. Let me take that back. What makes you laugh, Tommy?

I like these guys. They’re adorable, and Balnab just punched his father in the nose. I miss the times when Final Fantasy made me laugh-out-loud laugh in a genuine fashion. Oh, btw, Dancing Calcobrena is still playing during this battle.

moSSJ.png
vkylT.png
Q30go.png

Okay, so there are a few ways you can finish this fight off. The first is killing them quickly so that you don’t get to Part 2 of that fight. That way you don’t see Balnab-Z and you don’t have Balnab exploding on you.

The second is to take Dr. Lugae out first. This is not recommended in the slightest because you’ll miss Balnab-Z and you might not be fast enough to take him out before he explodes. So this is what happens:

W5HA8.png
aZrQj.png

The third is to take Balnab out first. This is the best course of action in any of the games with an in-game bestiary. We’re going to do that.

Balnab isn’t hard to take out, by the way. He relies on physical attacks so cast Blink on your squishies, Slow on the boss, Tommy should jump, and Clair should use whatever spells or summons you want.

kaU1M.png
MD4e2.png
dah26.png
ofEfu.png

Lugae’s Heal command will heal Balnab for 500 HP and will take off any status effects he’s inflicted with.

If you take Balnab out first, you’ll get a brand new boss.

f3PWi.png

You get Balnab-Z. Just attack it and make sure you take as much HP as possible.

slNSI.png
vNXYU.png

This button is a self-destruct button! When it explodes it will cause as much damage as how much HP it has left.

Mother 3 – Natural Killer Cyborg

Dr. Lugae transforms into something… uh… well, I don’t know what the heck that is. It says it’s a Mech type. He probably stole the plans from Robotnik or something and ended up roboticizing himself. Lugae will counter with Gas (which will put a character to sleep) and will use Poison Gas at the beginning against the entire party. He’ll use Emission (fire spell), Beam (10% of player character’s total HP), and Laser. Laser’s the one you should watch out for, as it is affected by how much HP Lugae has (so lower HP means lower damage). Lugae will, for some reason, use Heal on the entire party after a while.

Yes, this fight is pretty fucked up in the DS version. He’ll cast Reverse in that version and it sucks.

After the fight we win a…

gLlDk.png

Uh… Well, we win a Tower key, but… uh…

You see, I had attempted to force this message by making my bag full before I’d left the Dwarf Castle. I filled it with a bunch of Cure 1s without sorting them. Whenever you have a full bag, and need to get an item, you are prompted to exchange or discard an item. It’s different when you need to get a key item, though. You cannot leave the Item Get screen without it. If you attempt to Exit the screen, you will be told that you need to take something out of your inventory to make space for the key item.

Well, in Final Fantasy IV SNES, it’s hard to ever get this message if you aren’t taking advantage of a Big Chocobo and are hoarding everything you get. You have to force yourself to get this message. This message is untranslated from the original Japanese. It is the only text in the entire game that is not translated. Based on what I’d said before, it’s completely easy to see why it slipped past the translators’ gazes, but this is the type of thing QA is for? I think?

Uk7IC.png
ZuYHR.png
5XjDM.png
eNo7Y.png

Rubicant is a genius. So if the crystals have been taken to the upper portion of the Tower, we should probably go get them, right? The dwarves are in their tanks outside and they could drive away if the Cannon’s about to hit them (I thought they were holding off the Super Cannon before?).

So what do we do: do we go upstairs and go after the crystals to end this game, or do we rescue the dwarves?

Well, we have the worst leader in the world, so what do you think we’re going to do?

skAod.png

o4XGO.png

Good lord. The dwarves will be fine, you guys.

Next Time: Sometimes you’ve gotta make the hard decisions.

The party uses the Queen Mary II to travel to Kilika Port. Meanwhile, Tidus uses his thievery skills to break havoc on the ship. I thought there was a sign saying: "Monkeys not allowed", but I can't find it right now.

Tidus likes examining the babes. The crew immediately puts a new sign saying: "Pervos not allowed".

Tidus makes a new friend on the ship. He's the great merchant Torneko Oaka XXIII, he raised a commercial empire from nothingness. He wants money for the poor kids in Boondox. I'm so generous that I give 100 gil. You now have to pay homage to me!

Tidus discovers the sacred bird called chocobo being used as a motor source to the ship. Together with the Albhed and the crusaders, the ship crew likes to leave books all over the place and Tidus gets the third Albhed primer.

Yuna seems to be famous around here thanks to being the daughter of the high summoner Braska. I have to marry her to enjoy the advantages of being a celebrity. Coincidences don't end here and Yuna says that one of his father's guardians was Jecht, Tidus father. This is starting to sound very suspicious, isn't all this product of Tidus hallucinations inside Sin's innards?

Haha, don't worry. Most of them were easy to find. I didn't find anything for Final Fantasy Legends 2, though. At least nothing that would still look good shrunk to this size. That's why I used the SaGa logo.

Well it's okay, since it's only loosely an FF game anyway, haha. As long as I'm not inconveniencing you greatly.

FF6: So I stormed Kefka's Tower, beat up his two dragons plus some reused bosses and then turned around and left. Before that was a conversation about whether or not Terra will survive this coming conflict. The original FF6 plan was for her to
die at the end.
I count myself happy they didn't go through with it. But I'm also a big fan of
saving Cid.

So now I finally uncursed the Paladin Shield (only Strago, Relm, and Gau didn't know Ultima at that point.) And I'm building up my party in the Maranda desert again so everyone can learn Meteor/Meltdown and be ready to dive down into the Dragon's Den. So it's DD, then KT and I'll pass on the Soul Shrine at that point.

Also, I went and met Gau's dad, and even though Gau was my most hated character in the game growing up, I can admit that this sequence is one of the most touching ones in the game. I think I'll be sad to finish the game, because the writing in it really is stellar and the play, while fundamentally unbalanced in the player's favor, is still lots of fun.

In the last chapter lots of people died thanks to the most beloved being in all Spira, Sin. Summoners have to "send" the spirits of the dead to the Farplane so they don't become fiends. Lulu contemplates the posibility of giving a datalog to Tidus so she doesn't have to explain anything to him again, but she actually enjoys explaining things.

The next day, Tidus wakes up and his spider-sense tells him about an Albhed primer in the local tavern. Wakka and his guys are repairing the town because they're that nice. It's time to go to the temple, but there's an annoying jungle in the middle. Yuna thinks it's a good time to ask Tidus to become a guardian, maybe later... Tutorial time: Kimahri learns his overdrives from the enemies. Meaning: Blue magic in this game sucks because it's related to Kimahri.

These fellas dare to tell me that I can't beat this big monster. See how I destroy this monster for good. Problem 1: It likes to poison people, which takes 1/4 of the affected character's HP, so Yuna has to heal it as soon as possible.

I think I ended up liking Crisis Core at times because sometimes it was self-aware.
Ya I've been rediscovering that CC carries on FFVII spirit of silliness & variety with the mini-events & goofy side-stories.

Sweet! The lists have leveled up!

I have been doing this so long now that I've even started building Gau up because x1 learn rates LOLOLOLOLO. UGH. I still have to get Strago to learn his Blue Magic Spells, which means I was wrong, because I have Ebot's Rock in addition to the Dragon's Den and Kefka's Tower. Still on the fence about Soul Shrine. I'm leaning toward no, because even though it would be pretty much the only real challenge in the game, I'm kinda ready to knock Kefka's face in and move on with the series. I love 6 to death, it's my favorite in the series, but I'm ready for the sweet release of beating it.

Confrontation

Wakka starts believing that Tidus can be from Zanarkand so he can devise an intelligent theory about time travelling, paradoxes and crazy goddesses in which his brother is still alive, Yuna is a Lara Croft wannabe and Lulu is a sexy witch that wears glasses and uses her hair as clothing. Lulu ridicules him and says that what he's saying is impossible and then she writes it in her magic notebook to make games about those concepts. Wakka hasn't recieved enough humiliation and has to see his major enemies, the Beckhams of Spira (how I hate them). The objective of the Aurochs is to win, but I'm pretty sure they will not.

This temple is full of idiots, and another one appears: Jealous summoner Dona. She has envy of the four guardians Yuna has because she only has one and he's a little... special. Good riddance!

Tidus can't go to the Cloyster of Trials, but Dona is so nice that she does the procedures to let him enter. Oops, I had a wrong image of her.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Stone Tower Temple

Yeah, I know Stone Tower isn't a fire dungeon, but I wanted to put that song somewhere! Tidus has to scorch doors and discover symbols by using fire. Thanks to all these trials Tidus is starting to use his head, and not to smash machines with it!

After moving some things and burning others, Tidus opens the secret room. There's another Anima seal and Kimahri's equipment. Conclusion: There was only the seal.

Look behind you, Tidus! Someone's going to do nasty things to your back. Wakka has seen him doing the Jecht Shot, but Tidus explains he can't do it because he isn't level 3 yet, so that means that they're doomed. Yuna wants to talk with him about their fathers. Time to sleep!

LAST TIME ON FINAL FANTASY TACTICS Z: We got to meet up with Alma, Beef's sister, who is apparently more shrewd than we originally gave her credit. We also learned that we have to go back to Orbonne Monastery, which is exactly what this update is all about.

8xKyZ.png

...Welp. This is gonna be a long series of fights. There are actually three fights in the Monastery (the most we've had to do in a single mission so far), and each one of them is tougher than the last. At this point I'm well-prepared in terms of equipment, jobs, and levels, so I dive right in.

This Isulud fellow sure is quick to sling insults. He's also got the Jump skill, which means we won't actually be doing a ton of damage to him for a few turns until we can reach him. What I DIDN'T capture though is Isilud BREAKING ONE OF MY IMPORTANT PIECES OF EQUIPMENT, therefore making me restart this section. But since it happened literally a turn before I defeated him, I didn't feel like making a new set of screens for that fight.

NEXT TIME: THE RETURN OF A FAMILIAR ENEMY.

LAST TIME POST: We went deep into Orbonne Monastery to try and locate another Zodiac stone, only to be thwarted by another knight. In this update, we meet an old foe who has decided to help them out.

9tMGc.png
UxHiB.png

It's Weigraf! Looks like that talk he had at his sister's grave managed to convince him to join the guys trying to mislead the people. Alma has the stones still, too. Unless she was somehow able to make it to the ocean and back in a small period of time.

...dammit.

My reputation proceeds me. If Weigraf wasn't trying to run his sword through me, I would be flattered. Funny how that thought process goes.

This is one of the reasons why I don't like the new translation, despite the fact that the plot is much clearer because of it. Sometimes the old timey talk gets too out of hand.

The fight with Weigraf here is infamous for ending playthroughs (although it's not THE battle that people remember...that one comes later). Weigraf comes with a bunch of hard-hitting Knight skills that can easily body your team before they have a chance to move. However, most of them are Holy-based, so if you have equipment that absorbs that element, you'll have a higher chance of winning. And I say THAT because Weigraf is still wicked strong without those abilities. The natural chokepoint in the middle of the library is in his advantage because most of his moves target multiple spaces, which means big damage that you do NOT need.

hn1M2.png
IpRDz.png

I didn't even bother trying to steal from him, I just wanted the fight to end. Eventually it does, and Weigraf flees...although he's actually injured, unlike so many other characters who flee after battle.

The stone is reaching out to Weigraf since it knows (boy that felt weird typing that) that Weigraf is about to perish. In a nutshell, the stone is trying to get Weigraf to sell his soul (more or less) in order to revive and gain more strength. Can anyone point out to me when this was ever a good thing and not something that always turned out to be evil down the line? because I can't.

Making a contract with the stones and becoming a Lucavi has its benefits, it seems. In addition to overwhelming strength, the stone bearer is gifted with years and years of knowledge. Pretty sweet gig, even though it costs your soul.

...Beef...you're a brave dude, but pulling out a sword (he can't even equip those in his current class!) and intending to fight a raging demon-man by yourself is not brave. It's STUPID.

He certainly has a lot of regrets. Although he meant well, he's still just an old man, and he has his reasons for not doing the right thing (which I'll touch upon). His health is also fading fast, and there's nothing we can do about it.

Fading...fading...gone. We have a new mission: find Alma. Hopefully we can get some more info about the Zodiac stones with the Scriptures of Germonique that the geezer gave us, too. At least that's what I thought when I tried reading it. The book doesn't so much detail the Zodiac Braves as it does chronicle the true story of Saint Ajora, the major religious figure in this game's time period. You can read the book by selecting it in the "Chronicle" menu, and it goes through a mini-act of Ramza Beef narrating his findings as he reads the book. The act is fairly lengthy, so I won't post the entire thing verbatim. Instead I'm going to type out the gist of it.

The myth of Saint Ajora is that he was a "child of the gods" since he pointed out literally moments after his birth that a well was poisoned. By the time he was 20, he already had a massive following, and foresaw the coming of Paradise. This didn't sit well with a nearby empire, so they bribed one of his followers by the name of Germonique (starting to notice a pattern here?) to spill his whereabouts. Ajora was executed soon afterward, and his death triggered a massive tidalwave which wiped out a major continent. Those who had faith made the Church of Glabados.

What REALLY happened, as detailed in the book, is that Ajora was just a normal dude with no powers. He was actually a spy who sold info to enemies. Germonique was another spy who was keeping tabs on Ajora, and found out that Ajora was searching for the Zodiac Stones in order to summon the Braves. When Germonique delivered that news to his bosses, they killed Ajora, and a tidal wave wiped them out (coincidence or not). Then the Church was founded.

Because of the truth in the book, the current Church wants the book badly so they can hide it or destroy it. Elder Simon (who wrote notes as he translated the book IN the book) mentioned that he lost his faith after reading them, so just imagine what would happen if the truth got out to everyone else? The Church would lose influence, which is what they're trying to get in the first place. The only reason Simon didn't speak up is because if he turned against the Church, he'd lose access to that massive library, something he admits is greedy.

Lovely how the plot is starting to tie together, isn't it?

NEXT TIME: We heard you like FFT, so we put FFT in your FFT.

This is the part where FFT really gets interesting, for me. Simon's admission is crushing, and its sad that he doesn't live for Ramza to mention all the miracles he'll witness later, but at the same time, the guy is spared having to see the rest of the Lucavi.

This is also the point where the game goes absolutely crazy for a minute in difficulty. For this reason I grind in CH1 to get a Dark Knight.

More or less done getting Strago's Lores now. Gotta get Delta, Force Field and Mighty Guard still, so I'm off to Ebot's Rock. After that I'll probably just jump into the Dragon's Den. Should be done with FF6 by Wednesday.

Yeah, Simon became pretty easy to sympathize with after that scene. And I'm already almost done grinding out Dark Knight for Schala. She's almost at level 8 in Samurai (female Samurais wear Hammer Pants, for whatever reason), and just needs level 8 in Geomancer and Dragoon.

There's a short update coming up soon in this post, just need to wait for the pics to finish uploading.

EDIT: Done. LAST TIME - We lost Alma, the stones we had, and Weigraf turned into a monster. All we ended up with was a dead Simon and the Scriptures of Germonique, which contained enough truth bombs to shut down the church forever. In this relatively short update, we start to find new leads to Alma's location, as well as meet up with a new friend.

We have our destination, and we make our way there. But as soon as we land on the point for Zeklaus Desert, we get a cool cutscene, exclusive to the PSP version!

5PIK8.png

It's Luso, from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2! How he got here, I don't know, but he's being attacked by a herd of Behemoths and it's a "protect" mission, so we've got to make it quick. All of the members of the Behemoth family have an attack with a chance of a one-hit KO, so it's important to end this fight quickly. Thankfully, Luso actually was some really good equipment (about one "tier" higher than the stuff you can buy in towns and castles so far), and isn't an idiot in regards to rushing into enemies. After what seems like forever, thanks to their ludicrous HP, the battle ends.

Let's recap, shall we? Luso is a game hunter who was very nearly killed until we intervened. He got lost from his friends, something which shouldn't happen to a competent hunter who knows how to track...and now he wants to join up with us?

...ok, why not. It certainly isn't the worst thing that's happened to us.

Another scene that is hampered by screenshots. Luso is writing stuff down in his handy-dandy notebook. I'm guessing this is something he does a lot in Advance 2, I dunno. I haven't played it personally.

TLgW2.png
esMPH.png

a0FLU.png

One thing I like about Luso is that he doesn't speak in the "ye olde" style, so it's a lot easier to understand him. His tone screams "plucky protag" though, so it's not much better. But that don't matter because...

0uErp.png

We got a new team member!

Luso's class is "Game Hunter," which is actually a much fancier "Squire." What makes it better than a Squire is that his class has the "Poach" ability as a passive, which means that anytime he kills a monster as a Game Hunter, he poaches them without having to equip the actual ability. It's very handy. He also is able to learn all of the Ramza Beef-only Squire skills, and that allows him access to Steel (+5 Brave to a target) and Shout (+10 Brave to self, +1 Attack and Magic Attack). It's REALLY good stuff for him to have, and it makes him a very good character.

NEXT TIME: We continue on our way to Riovanes Castle!

The Yevon cup begins and the commentators laught at my team. I don't blame them, the Besaid Aurochs are really shitty. The game wants you to believe how these Luca Goers are the best team in Spira, but in reality they're the second worst.

BZB95.png
OVVde.png

The Yevon maesters Seymour and Mica come to see the show. Seymour's father has died recently and Mica has been the leader of Yevon for 50 years, that's really interesting trivia. Seymour tries to seduce Yuna with his abs and everything, but he doesn't know she's mine so I can be famous.

3oaMu.png
gyl7b.png

There are six teams in all the cup, so that means two teams play two matches at most and the others three. The Aurochs are lucky as they've been seeded. Tutorials! I don't want to read so I pass.

OO9g0.png
zhzje.png

Tidus expresses perfectly what I think about all that blitzball stuff. Tidus hasn't told the team he is only a mediocre blitzball player with a mediocre shoot stat and that he only is level 1 when he supposedly was a superstar in Zanarkand. Yuna doesn't want him to play and says that Auron is in the city, so they have to search for him. She saves Tidus from looking like a noob in the blitzball match.

VhKmx.png
LFFCc.png

Tidus talks with members of the team they have to beat later. He thinks they might know Rikku, but the non-conversation ends without rewards. Tidus finds another primer on the floor. I think people in this planet aren't very respectful with books.

fnJaf.png
Aacx1.png

Tidus wants to lose time so he doesn't have to play and teaches Yuna to whistle. Luckily for him, it isn't easy and she doesn't learn yet, so he can pass more time teaching her. There is another primer on the floor. This teaches something to us, the bigger the place, the more books on the floor.

xggke.png
7bp42.png

There is a sculpture based on Alexandria's castle. Let's take some photos to spend even more time doing nothing of interest! Tidus remembers Auron having a jar always with him so he could drink rum everytime and everywhere, so he thinks the bar is a good place to find him. But they only find Kimahri's friends Biran and Yenke. They are more idiot than Kimahri, and that was hard, so they recieve a hit from their beloved friend.

ydAxf.png

Tidus plan comes to fruition and he doesn't have to play. The Aurochs can fail alone.

80zGy.png

Bad news, Yuna has been kidnapped by the Albhed Psyches while they were drinking. They think that they must be a bad team to do this kind of schemes. Incorrect! The Albhed Psyches are the most dangerous team in blitzball thanks to their overpowered goalie and beastly defenders.

Dot Hacked
Got a big OP update this time. Sephiroth (cause I forgot to list him earlier!), Hojo, Cissnei, and Hollander are added to the character list, while Zack, Angeal, and Genesis's profiles have been updated. The missions & dmw statuses are now also up to date.

Genesis: "I wanna be the guy!"
Me: "Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!"

Pt.7 "Pursuit"

iSgYtqn71SPMk.jpg
ipLXf8mge0cef.jpg

Sephiroth proposes that they find Angeal & Genesis before the army does and purposely fail to capture 'em. Sounds like a good plan! What a good guy he is. Right inside the reactor a monster bumps into Zack who of course eliminates it. He and Sephiroth find Angeal's face on it which looks really freaking disturbing to say the least! Seems he's now being copied too. Sephiroth flashes back to a time when he, Angeal, and Genesis snuck into the SOLDIER training room for fun. What a rambunctious trio they were. The three buds then had what started as a friendly fight ontop of the Junon cannon.

ieNMbEIjBTp63.jpg
iofk4Xgc45M79.jpg

ibebJ2KcQ3u5un.jpg
ibpINnGJxnywQN.jpg

A short time into the fight Genesis asks Angeal to stand back cause he wants to beat Sephiroth himself and take over title of hero. Egomaniac much? Genesis goes all out with his powered up sword and crazy magic attacks but even his crazy controllable fireballs have no effect on Sephiroth! Angeal finally intervenes "Stop! You'll destroy us all!" Genesis is having none of that and swats him away "That's no way to talk to a hero." After the two destroy much of the cannon Angeal once again gets between 'em and ends the VR program. Sephiroth won this round since he's unfazed while Genesis walks off with a 'scrape'. "Even if the morrow is barren of promises, Nothing shall forestall my return." Whatever dude! Everything was fine afterwards though Sephiroth got one of Angeal's lectures on dreams & honor as a result!

iASIyyyAEFxHc.jpg
iq2MyEE1YDknw.jpg

Now its time to proceed through the reactor but the power to a door is out! It's up to Zack to wander around battling monsters and turning valves to get it open! While doing so he gets mail from someone calling themselves the 'treasure princess' who wants to team up with him! Maybe he'll do that. For now, with the door unlocked he and Sephiroth get into a room where copies are being made and various notes lie out in the open for any old person to check out.

"The Ancients Project - Outline"
It is now an undisputed fact that the life form excavated from the earth is indeed of the ancient race spoken of in legend. Furthermore, history records that these "Ancients" channeled the power of this planet to tear the earth asunder. Using the cells of the unearthed Ancient, we have begun research on creating and mass-producing a race with comparable abilities. The primary objective of this research is to significantly reduce make excavation costs.

"Project G - Summary"
Objective: Implant the cells of an Ancient into a human fetus to imbue said fetus with the Ancient's abilities.

"Report on the SOLDIER Degradation Phenomenon"
The heightened abilities of SOLDIER members are maintained by a delicate balance of various genetic factors. A change in this balance could only be caused by a "leak" of genetic information, but this is not possible under normal circumstances. This phenomenon is unique to the SOLDIER Type G.

The more Zack read the more woozy he felt. Sephiroth explains that Hollander's experiment produced a normal kid which meant it was a failure. However that was a load of crap cause Genesis showed clear signs of degradation. He also wasn't healing from minor wounds and in the past needed a blood transfusion from Angeal even though Sephiroth volunteered.

ipYPluC4uHECY.jpg
i5sXDc1nXLfiK.jpg

i8gRDAbrm8DGn.jpg
iWNuwrgZDxB2.jpg

Both Hollander and Genesis show up to put an end to Sephiroth's reminiscing. Zack goes off chasing Hollander while Sephiroth stays behind to put up with Genesis. "There is no hate, only joy; For you are beloved by the goddess; Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds" Genesis is still jealous that he's not the hero but instead of desiring that title he now just wants a gift. And even though Hollander is old and doesn't look like he's in great shape he still gives Zack a little trouble in catching up to! Hiding behind doors, having monsters stall him, and finally a trio of mechs!

i3XuIFCcquHIA.jpg
iixE6MHl0N2Ie.jpg

ibrj7lnrMFKOuh.jpg
i0ZYEnv8nTxU7.jpg

Fighting one of these at a time was never really problematic but three at once? Zack got put in a world of hurt and nearly fell on several occasions. Thank goodness for Curaga! With that last line of defense outta the way catching Hollander would've been a breeze if not for Angeal stepping in. Zack asks what the big guy is after and he jokingly says world domination. "That's not even funny, man." Then maybe revenge? Angeal reveals that he now has a single white wing "A monster's objective is usually world domination or revenge." seems he's still got that trademark rational way of thinking.

ioeYBD2IpuVTy.jpg
ibxieORpfmybyN.jpg

ilhCHyWJK43WS.jpg
iK9BODAwYrfT9.jpg

Contradicting what he said to Cissnei earlier, Zack claims that those aren't monster wings but are instead angel wings. What should angels fight for and what do they dream of asks Angeal with an answer already in mind: "To be human." He sucker punches Zack sending him flying across the room! He tells Zack to defend himself but with a smile and shake of his head, Zack declines. This annoys Angeal who sends a spark looking attack his way, breaking the grating on the floor and sending Zack falling from the upper plate!

Wakka was beaten pretty badly by the Albhed mooks and takes advantage of that to not participate in the finals, clever boy. Auron really was in the city, after all. I hope he joins the group so I can send Kimahri to the kennel.

Blitz Off

The first match in the game is the most difficult one. Talk about a fair learning curve... Of course, the ugly Goers score soon.

TIzmP.gif
The Splendid Performance

The emulator is a good friend of mine and thanks to the turbo the time passes faster so I suffer less. The fans want Wakka back because Tidus is the worst blitzball player they've seen. Wish fulfilled! Wakka returns to WIN!

1hyXM.png

Not really, Letty hides in the goal and the match ends. The Aurochs lose!

Before they can celebrate the epic failure they've had aquatic monsters appear to kill our lucky heroes. It's a good idea to use a thunder blade to kill those pesky monsters.

dWYwo.png

Look that big monster! It must be impossible to defeat it, even for sir Auron. Mmm... No, Auron defeats it in one hit. Kimahri wishes he was that useful.

Tidus and Auron reunite again to slain a giant flying monster. The strategy of blinding it doesn't get old and they kill it fast.

Just when things start getting ugly Seymour summons a superpowerful aeon and starts destroying the monsters mercilessly. This guy is pretty awesome, maybe I can let him be Yuna's boyfriend if he lends us his marvelous aeon.

XCZs3.png
ymaP8.png

Auron tells Tidus another shocking truth: Jecht is Sin. How could a simple man become that giant assassin whale? I'm pretty sure that's bullshit, but why would Auron lie about that? There's no other option than to follow him. He is going to become Yuna's guardian and Tidus goes with him. That raises the guardian count to 5, Dona must be pleased.

Pd5Cd.png
9KZzC.png

Yuna was so bored during the match that she learned to whistle and now she's better than Tidus. She thinks it can come very handy in two years. People have to smile even if they are sad because if someone doesn't do it Yuna will tranform them into freaks.

mni5y.png

They immediately start practicing the crazy idiot laugh. (laughs)
I understand this scene, but it's still cringeworthy. Wakka thinks they're crazy. You don't say, Wakka!

And this ends this update! Until the next one!

EDIT: Boo Dragon's Den. Boo not having a save point 3 boss fights in. Boo the stupid fake difficulty of giving a single boss 6 hits every two seconds. BOO BOO and MORE BOO.

I'll do it, but I won't like it one bit. Two game overs already. All that wasted time. UGH.

Mi'ihen Highroad

The party arrives at the next area: The Mi'ihen Highroad. It was named in honor of the founder of the crusaders, that crossed these plains to go to Bevelle. Tidus meets an important NPC called Maechen, he knows lots of things but has very bad memory. I suppose he's more intelligent than the average because he reads the books others leave on the floors.

odgqY.png
nyuYI.png

With Auron, the group gains another role: The armored enemies slayer. It's so nice seeing him destroying them.

bZOCa.png
CWZYT.png

More NPCs appear. They are Lucil, Emma and Clasko. The women are intelligent, strong willed, pretty, etcetera and Clasko is a coward, lazy, klutz... but I always had a soft spot for him. Ugh, this emulator/Dualshock adaptator doesn't register perfectly the second stick movement and Lulu uses weak overdrives.

aplCm.png

TIzmP.gif
Chrono Trigger - Battle Theme 2

And one more NPC, Belgemine. She's a summoner that doesn't do the pilgrimage and teaches fellow summoners. This is the first battle and the only option is Valefor against her Ifrit.

jda6s.png
s9TCg.png

The strategy of using Energy Blast in the last moment works and Ifrit is defeated.

zLktv.png
cq5Oy.png

Yuna wins a ring with silence proof, pretty uninteresting. After some random battles Tidus learns Haste and adquires a new role. The roles right now are:
-Tidus: Swift fighter and time mage.
-Yuna: White mage and summoner.
-Wakka: Accurate fighter and status inducer.
-Lulu: Black mage and evasive tank (haha).
-Auron: Powerful fighter and defensive tank.

rQWnX.png
KMJl2.png

NPC approaching: Cali. She's just a kid that appears once to question if Yuna will bring the Calm again. Tidus discovers another revelation, when someone kills Sin it revives again. This world can't catch a break, huh?

FMlpI.png
8XR8N.png

This is Shelinda, a priestess of church of Yevon that is pretty devout and tries everyone to not deviate from Yevon's teachings. Right now, she's trying to convince the crusaders of not going to a operation against Sin where machines are going to be used. Good luck talking to that scum!

eBuNm.png
qW5Ar.png

Auron wants to rest bacause he has seen too many new NPCs lately and it's becoming difficult to remember everyone and says with a wrinkled face: Problem? Tidus does his Meg Ryan Pose 2.3 .

08cc8.png
w1YN4.png

Tidus has a talk with Yuna about killing Sin more than once and how it can disappear forever. He trusts her so much that does a sacrilegious imitation of maester Mica. After sleeping 10 hours, Tidus meets another NPC. He's called Rin, owns this inn and is an Albhed. He says his business is losing clients thanks to those spheres that cure people. Why do you have one in you inn, in the first place? Luckily, he offsets that by selling items, so actually this is like an item shop. He gives him an Albhed primer.

The monster that eat chocobos appears and the team has to kill it.

Mother 3 - Unfounded Revenge

Boss battle 7, Chocobo Eater: It can kill one character after it targets it. It's weak to fire, so Tidus hastes Lulu.

zjGqR.png
6yYFv.png

It's also a good idea to blind it. When it recieves enough damage, it's knocked onto its back and can be pushed back.

sJLbh.png
dAfyV.png

But he can do a powerful attack and puch back the party in return, so the strategy of throwing it off a cliff isn't that easy.

WwjZn.png
MZHw3.png

Remember that fire weakness? Ifrit is a valuable asset when we want to overkill the enemy!

k981a.png

Thanks to the party efforts, they can ride chocobos again. It's nice, but I prefer to walk so I kill enemies, because I'm that vicious.

We can see in these images the secondary actors being used as comic characters. Dona tries to use her charm to pass, but the crusader is blind and doesn't accept.

I go to the old road so I level up a little and get the Saturn crest. This is one of the changes in the international version, as in the original this crest had the Mars crest. The only difference is in the name because it is still Masamune's crest.

nziZv.png
YyRP0.png

I'm getting bored of talking about books lying on the ground... It seems that what the crusaders were carrying was some sinspawn so they can lure Sin and attack it.

These guys want my money to pay their bad habits. Bad luck for them, I only give money to losers like those in Boondox. Yuna uses her contacts to pass the control.

Dona has seen everything, she's going to tell everyone about my dirty acts. I must kill her! But Seymour wants Yuna's attention. He wants her to go to the area where he and the other important authorities will be while the crusaders have a horrible death. Sounds nice! Wakka has a shock when he hears about a maester supporting the use of weapons. Wakka, you have used him to not be stuck in the last area, so shut up and be nice to him!

Sonic & Knuckles - Mushroom Hill Zone Act 1

The next area is the Mushroom Rock Road and it contains elevator rocks.

hIcSv.png
K4RXp.png

This is one of the most exciting moments in the game: Auron activates a +4 strength node! JOY! Yuna uses a key sphere for the first time to upgrade her stats even more.

VrVt8.png
Zn5dF.png

Lulu starts getting her tier 2 spells and that means that she's is now THE damage dealer of the group. The crusaders are very nice and give items to our summoner. Most of them are garbage, but a present is a present.

tvLUr.png
bUK66.png

The group has to take a secret path to get another Albhed primer and Tidus gets his first new overdrive mode: Warrior. He increases the overdrive gauge by attacking the enemies. It's good because it isn't "luck" dependant and you can increase the gauge even if the enemies can't touch you.

qI1ER.png
4WcRU.png

Luzzu doesn't let Gatta go to the fight against Sin. Instead of being grateful, he whines. He doesn't know from what he has escaped. The second screenshot isn't clear, but it depicts Luzzu being hit by Wakka because he has told him that he convinced him to go to the last year's operation.

OCYVn.png

And using an elevator, our characters go to the next update!

The next set of "Missions & Memories" are here!

M&Ms.2

Missions: Zack the Mentor
iQzjpHasYsz5Y.jpg

SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.1 is to watch & learn as Zack takes on a mission for him! With that accomplished the now SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.2 says he learned alot... but feels that he should write to his parents about how cold city life is. Zack caves in and does his next mission to. When that's cleared, SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.3 agrees with Zack that he should do the next one himself but... "...When I die, I hope you bury me in a nice place on top of a hill with a view." Zack agrees to do the next mission but says it'll be the last! SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.4 praises Zack and says he's ready to do the next one on his own, however: "...But I would like to see you in action just one last time! You've become my idol, Zack" the buttering up pushed Zack to do yet another mission. SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.5 seems toughened up, calling Zack boss and rushing off to do the next mission himself for reals! Unfortunately he failed the mission and its up to Zack to save him! When he finds SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.6, Zack is surprised the guy isn't feeling down despite his defeat. But back in the SOLDIER briefing room SOLDIER 3rd Class Lv.7 is depressed about messing up again and says he's quitting SOLDIER and that he's sorry for all the trouble. The SOLDIER 2nd Class who had scolded him earlier returns and says about how his mentor helped him with missions as Zack had helped the 3rd Class guy. "The most important thing about being a SOLDIER operative... ...is to embrace your dreams." The 3rd Class'er decides not to quit after all and starts working on doing squats!

Missions: Child's Play
ibsl6d7e1WAhR8.jpg

Zack takes up the offer of the "Treasure Princess" and heads to the specified location to seek it. Once he come across it though... "One, for want of treasures kept secret... Two, to deliver dreams of her homeland... Three...uh, here she comes! I am the Treasure Princess! Hear me roar!" It's Yuffie! Zack asks if she's lost and if he should take her home but gets called a sucker and a pervert! She's there to take his treasure in the name of restoring Wutai but he doesn't play along like last time and she ends up running off crying. Never the less another e-mail arrives telling him to search a ravine. He comes across the chest, but Yuffie gets to it first and runs off again! This happens again, and again, and again! "That rotten little nose-picker..." next time he'll make her regret messing with him! When Zack discovers and opens the chest at the end of his sixth mission a familiar voice calls out "One, through the embers of a war not won... Two, to restore her homeland's glory... Three, up from the rubble and ash... Look out! It's the Treasure Princess!" Zack says pulling stunts like this could get her hurt and that and he has patience for this stupidity but not everyone does. "Get ready for a kiss... FROM MY FIST!" Zack ignores this and says if she wants to steal for a living she needs to devise a method that works. This makes her cry and run away once more. "...Wait a minute... How does she have my mail address?" After alls said and done he gets a mail from someone wishing to remain anonymous...

Memories: On the Way to War
iAxOktXn76OzO.jpg
ibkJCFC0OJ282H.jpg

Zack recalls his departure to Wutai.

Angeal: "Zack, let's go."
Zack: "Right! I'm ready to become a hero!"

Memories: Forgetfulness
iQldcfv5cGXw.jpg
ibcrHw56RdOlar.jpg

Zack recalls a time he was slightly unprepared for an assignment.

Angeal: "What's the matter?"
Zack: "I was looking around for materia, and now I'm late for my assignment!"
Angeal: "I see. But if you're on assignment, where's your sword?"
*?! Zack rushes off*
Angeal: "Ever the restless puppy..."

Memories: The Blade's Burden
ihzNwAKQqc1S6.jpg
i1VpAtWpnJjqa.jpg

Zack recalls a time he and Angeal were surrounded by monsters.

Zack: "Don't you think it's about time you used that sword?"
Angeal: "This sword...is heavy and unwieldy."
Zack: "Tch! Then why don't you bring a lighter one?"

Memories: In the Zone
iPtULVO2dSSll.jpg
i9v2GZYTt4igx.jpg

Zack recalls a time when he was unfocused.

Zack: "Mind and body, acting as one... Ha!"
*Zack defeats a monster and takes a deep breath*
Zack: "Wh...what do you think? Pretty good, right?"
Angeal: "That's just you focusing for the sake of focusing. Your true power hasn't been released."
Zack: "Yeah, it didn't feel quite the same as before."
Angeal: "You have to find the right zone in your mind. If you can't do that, you'll never make 1st. Now, let's go!"
Zack: "Seriously!?"

OP now contain some Aeris goodness!

So I heard you like mini-games and hidden affection values. Its FFVII all over again!

Pt.8 "Flower Power"

islTSvEe7zHla.jpg
igTdFEJ3Yozn4.jpg

ibvXUTpUmhPbcH.jpg
ipqaqfZnKT361.jpg

The fallen Zack is talking to his mom about how he wants to help a friend but doesn't know how to... but this is just a dream! He's woken from with a perky "Hell-llooo!" Is he in heaven speaking to an angel? Not at all! It's just a slum church filled with flowers and Aeris! Zack seems to think roof repair and wake-up call fees can be paid off with a date but he gets shot down and told not to step on the flowers! He then offers her a business opportunity. Spiff up the gloomy town by selling the flowers she grows and make some gil by doing so! Aeris is added to the DMW! Anyways Zack doesn't wanna overstay his welcome so he starts to leave when Aeris pipes up saying she'll be his slum guide! Not long after leaving the church they get attacked by monsters which Zack easily deals with. Did he look cool doing so? "Beats me." He tries so hard but praise often seems to evade him.

ibrpFL73PsmOEy.jpg
i9ERl3WYP3bux.jpg

ibbTHfZrvStNie.jpg
ibgekaOnEcpAWy.jpg

They walk and talk and bump into some other citizens who mostly aren't big fans of Shinra. Zack takes note of how it sucks they can't see the sky from here but Aeris is afraid of the sky so she doesn't mind. Even so he promises to take her to see the big, beautiful, non-scary sky one day. When they enter the market a small boy bumps into Zack and makes off with his wallet! Aeris knows the kid and says he must have a reason for stealing and they split up to try and find him peacefully. Aeris runs around in circles looking for him while Zack gets jerked around by all of the townsfolk but in the end the two corner the kid! Turns out his own wallet was eaten by a monster and he needed money for medicine. Zack offers to buy the medicine but it turns out he doesn't have enough! So instead he'll fight the monster to get the kids wallet back! He retrieves the now icky wallet and learns he has less money than people living in the slums! But he is not to be mocked cause one day he and Aeris will be rich from selling flowers!

iGXIhJJtkJcyu.jpg
iYcgr4IUHaypi.jpg

ibemhvILx85JlB.jpg
ilSteuArdvGg3.jpg

Now its time for some fun & games! Let's not just buy perfume for Aeris, but blend it with rose oil for even better perfume! Zack's good hearing allows him mixes in the perfect amount to get the best perfume possible! The materia store owner hires "fast as the wind!" Zack to pickup the 20 materia a dumb deliveryman dropped all over the market. He does so with record speed and earns a whopping 100 gil. And to think he got paid only 100 gil per cannon shell slicing... he needs a new line of work that actually pays! Next is a guess how many kids walk by game. He defers to Aeris who says either 3 or 6. Zack goes with 6 and wins an ATK Up materia! At the accessory shop the clerk thinks they make a good couple and Aeris says she'd like to think of him as her boyfriend. Wow! He buys her a ribbon, which should protect her from all status effects... right?

iJB07gQipAfIu.jpg
ibxBmYlYO42q3H.jpg

ibaa20Ib0Rc8hi.jpg
iEjvBqhgw7PYn.jpg

Aeris asks him to visit the the park with her, which is close to being a 'date'! She talks about how weird and scary members of SOLDIER are since they allegedly love fighting. Zack reveals he's a member of them and she's like "!" and steers the conversation to talking about his pretty eyes. "Eyes infused with mako energy. A SOLDIER trademark." She gets a real close look at 'em and likes how they're the color of the sky yet not scary at all. This pleasant outing comes to an end when Zack gets a call to return to HQ cause Genesis is attacking again. They part ways and just before Zack exits to the upper plate, the little thief kid gives him his Steal materia for all the help! Up on the Sector 0 highway things are about to get crazy!

Fire and Water Dragons are down. That's 5 down, 4 to go. Then Omega, then Kefka. I will make dinner, then finish this dungeon tonight. Skull Dragon's down, so what, 3 to go? Holy Dragon is down. Just the Gold and Kaiser left. I can so finish this tonight. Goldy is down, so all we have left is Kaiser Wilhelm and then we will have successfully ended World War I.

No more Neslug, no more Plague. SO CLOSE. Goodbye Flan Princesses!

Didn´t know about this. Just started playing FFVIII last week, after countless truncated plays over the last decade that never went over 3 hours. I decided this is it, this is the time I will play this through to completion. Just got to Disc 2, after about 8 hours or so. Really having a good time! Perhaps I´ll replay FFIX after this.

I love how late 90s that CD change prompt looks, from CD players to the company URL.

Final Fantasy XI - Vana'diel March

Wakka sure loves them machines. The monsters perform a fusion dance so they can suffer together later.

pfatI.png
emdnp.png

The third maester the group meets is Wen Kinoc, leader of the warrior monks (who use shotguns even if they are forbidden by their own teachings). He's an old friend of Auron and it's pretty confident in the operation, which means that he thinks the plain is going to fail.

Peril

Boss battle 8, Sinspawn Gui: It has four targets: The head, the arms and the main body. The first thing that must be killed is the head because it has a relatively low HP and can poison my dear characters. Only Wakka and Lulu can damage it so use them first. Tidus can haste them and kill it faster.

aHNw2.png
tWthe.png

Auron can start killing the arms while Wakka and Lulu are busy with the head.

TOJfI.png
4GxPO.png

The main body can't be attacked phisically until both arms are destroyed (they will grow again in a few turns and the process has to be repeated). Lulu is the main damage dealer in this fight thanks to her new spells and that she can attack even if the arms are still alive. When it's at low HP levels Valefor performs the usual overdrive and overkills it.

After enough suffering has been caused to the poor Sinspawn, big papa Sin appears with its purple shield...

Boss battle 8-2, Sinspawn Gui: Seymour acts in this battle as an overpowered Lulu and can obliterate the head in one turn thanks to its 1000 HP. The strategy is same, save for Haste not being an option.

The Albhed still have to use the giant Lightning machine!

A Fleeting Dream

Oh, he really meant it when he said he was going to chase Sin! Is that a city on its back? Tidus appears in a strange place full of ghosts, even his young agent from the beginning of the game, I suppose he was killed in that Sin attack.

NUTmC.png
Hol3w.png

As the only summoner in the place (Seymour is too lazy to do it), Yuna has to send loooots of people to the Farplane. Kinoc is going to leave the place when Auron tells him that the operation has been a success when one sees it as a purge of people who didn't follow the teachings. Auron has something against Yevon, doesn't he?

EyVUo.png
lHhRS.png

Seymour doesn't try to hide his intentions and tells Yuna to let him support her as Zaon did with Yunalesca. Those two were married, that means... !!!
Tidus now really believes that Jecht is Sin as he could feel it when he was close to him.

And this ends the succesful Operation Mi'ihen.

Awright! The Kaiser Dragon is dead! It was a pretty crazy showdown, I had to cast arise once or twice because the developers apparently don't understand that the entire point of quick is that I be allowed to act twice without anyone else acting. Terra, at level 75, was grossly overprepared for the fight, and actually tanked the boss' Ultima spell. Now we just have to hunt down Omega, and then we can beat the game!

Sonic & Knuckles - Mushroom Hill Zone Act 2

This place is known as Djose Road but has the same composition as the Mushroom Rock Road. Kimahri can talk! He explains why Yuna has to seem happy, and for that her guardians shouldn't be sad either.

DNp6F.png
a4K5V.png

Tidus is really surprised that he can talk and wants to know how Kimahri manages to smile and transmit happiness to Yuna. Good try.

8ZWaN.png
uYnh7.png

There is a particularly dangerous enemy in this place called basilisk. And like every basilisk in exitence it petrifies, so equipping stone proof equipment is almost a must for Yuna (and very advisable for the other characters). There's a fork in the road and the party takes the path to the Djose Temple.

c9qrV.png
3jxRM.png

TIzmP.gif
Djose Temple

Auron doesn't want to tell Yuna about the Sin/Jecht subject because she could doubt and quit the pilgrimage, and we don't want that to happen, ya? Lucil and the others survived the operation but they can't say the same about their giant chickens.

gNKJ8.png
H1yOm.png

At the Djose temple the party meets another summoner and his guardians. He's called Isaaru and employs children. That isn't proper for a gentleman.

TIzmP.gif
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - Dancing Dragon Dungeon

Maroda, one of his guardians, tells that some summoners have been kidnapped lately. Well, this is the first official trial for Tidus. He has to use electric spheres to open doors and activate elevators.

5iWCe.png
Azguh.png

He even needs to overcharge a sphere to open a door that needs extra electricity.

wJyNr.png
1BQaU.png

Putting two spheres in the pedestal creates a "bridge" Tidus can cross. After he powers up the elevator, he can use it to access the second floor.

V9QVw.png
InCSi.png

After doing a no-puzle in that floor, the door to the fayth's floor opens and a certain secret in the first floor appears. It leads to the destruction sphere, that can be used in the second floor to get the secret chest with the Anima seal.

APlVY.png
X87BY.png

Just when Yuna enters the fayth's room, Dona and her guardian appear to whine about how many guardians Yuna has. "She even has the legendary guardian Auron!" Barthello is a fan of him and wants to shake his hand. Lulu sees the opportunity to scold Dona for not taming him properly.

WkvP1.png
TrhGw.png

The third aeon is electric but it isn't Ramuh. I suppose it would be strange to have an old man as a pet. This would be coherent if the next aeon wasn't a lady. Yuna is pretty tired and sleeps for many hours. Someone as responsible as her doesn't like to be sleeping when she can be doing boring things and doubles her walking speed when she gets up.

FIF3K.png

The mean guardians mock her for sleeping too much! Tidus suggests as a narrator that the relaxed ambience was only to not think about the difficulties of the journey and that they weren't that happy actually.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - Bell of Battle

Lady Belgemine appears again to test Yuna's summoner skills. The aeon she uses is Ixion, so I choose Ifrit.

It uses Haste, a spell it shouldn't know! That's serious bullshit, I want special skills for my aeons. Luckily, even hasted, Ixion isn't match for my Ifrit. She gives a Summoner's Soul key item to teach skills to the aeons in exchange of items.

The party finally arrives at the Moonflow. The group says that at night the river gets very beautiful and Tidus wants to stay there, but Auron says they have to be in Macalania before it gets dark (he doesn't say that, but they are capable of crossing half continent in one day).

Shoopuf Riding

That big thing is the shoopuf and our characters are going to use it to cross the river. Yuna talks about how she did a reverse pilgrimage from Bevelle to Besaid with Kimahri and she fell from the shoopuf. Even serious summoners like her could have fun when they were younger. Auron also wants to talk about the past and how Jecht attacked the shoopuf when he was drunk. Lucil and her slaves want to cross with the chocobo but the rider tells them that it's imposhible. He is from a race that becomes important in the sequel, but there aren't too many right now. They must be hiding from Sin. Hypellos like to transform 's' into 'sh' when they talk, but for some reason this translation doesn't reflect that (they corrected it in FFX-2).

Ooops, I forgot a primer in the Djose Road. This is embarrasing, but thanks to this I grind a little and Tidus gets his second overdrive (Slice and Dice).

Sometimes it "charges" an attack, but it's nothing a couple of hits can't solve. It's really easy. What could be thinking the Albhed when they were trying to kidnap Yuna... again!

There's another Albhed primer in the north side of the river and a fainted person.

She's Rikku and wanted to kidnap Yuna. Just when Tidus was going to tell them that she's an Albhed, he remembers that Wakka hates them and doesn't say a thing.

EzkeB.png
5Fq5c.png

Rikku goes from being a kidnapper to wanting to be Yuna's guardian. Auron suspects that she's an Albhed and her eye confirms his suspicion. At this point, Wakka is the only one who doesn't know that she's an Albhed.

ZeWAp.png
Ksigq.png

As we learned at the beginning of the game, she's a thief and can use some unique items. We discover know that she can mix items and get some powerful effects. I don't like memorizing combos, so I don't use this overdrive much, but I know it's pretty powerful.

Guadosalam

Tromell Guado recieves the party at the village entrance to take them to the mansion. The Guado are the "elfs" of this game, so they must be good people, ya? Rikku teaches the group to customize weapons and armor. This is a pretty interesting mechanic and we can say that weapons and armor in this game are nothing more than 8 accesory slots.

5DmW8.png
jsdFz.png

There's an Albhed primer in a shop/house in Guadosalam. The party finally enters Seymour's mansion. Lulu explains things about Guadosalam and how she doesn't know everything (like his Zanarkand)even if she can explain many things.

0jNbl.png
3HC2Z.png

Auron says that they must stay vigilant, Seymour isn't trustworthy. Kimahri doesn't like him either and Rikku eats like if she was in a buffet. Tromell likes licking Seymour's feet and doesn't stop praising him. "Excellent" says Seymour.

w2WsP.png
2veQQ.png

Seymour uses a machine to show them some images from old Zanarkand. Too many machines for a world where they're forbidden, huh? Seymour does again the strategy of comparing him and Yuna to Zaon and Yunalesca...

31dL1.png
v0yEI.png

Seymour takes advantage of the situation and asks her something that makes her to drink all her booze: He wants to marry her. Of course, the guardians are concerned about if she can continue her pilgrimage, and Seymour says that she can continue. Seymour leaves some time for her to think about the proposition.

JU3P0.png
pKKDC.png

Before leaving, Seymour says something to Auron: "We Guado are sensitive to the aroma of the Farplane". Tidus wants to know immediately what the heck that means and smells Auron.

F3Cfy.png
qyjpz.png

Yuna is confused and wants to go to the Farplane to talk with her parents and make up her mind about the wedding situation. Tidus opinion is clear, he doesn't want her to marry because "Sin goes first and then the love". Rikku thinks it's better to quit the pilgrimage if she marries.

vjkDO.png
mL0YP.png

Tidus imagines this place being full of terrifying ghosts and gets scared. Luckily for him, that's not the case. Auron and Rikku stay behind, the former doesn't like that place and Rikku thinks that what they see there are only memories. Good for you then, see ya.

jplPV.png
irQ1f.png

The Farplane is like another world. Rikku's theory about the Farplane seems true when the only thing we can see are static images of dead people. Wakka sees his brother and the brotherhood sword gets: +5% and +10% phys. attack, waterstrike (good for the next area, not so much for the next to next) and Sensor (shows HP and weaknesses from enemies).

ZUip7.png
eCQT8.png

Lulu thinks about Chappu too and Tidus suggests Wakka as her new partner in life. Yuna tells Tidus to think about his parents and only his mother appears. That confirms that Jecht is alive. He then tells Yuna how he hated his father because his mother didn't pay attention to him while his father was around. What a crybaby.

8ZH5H.png
1zX9y.png

Just when they're leaving the place, Jyscal's ghost (Seymour's father) appears and she has to send him. In exchange, she gets an sphere.

d0LkS.png
Xfjxr.png

Yuna enters the mansion again to talk to Seymour about certain things. Lulu explains Tidus what she thinks about Yuna's love life and how she'd like her to marry for love but how she'd oppose that. Tidus shows his interest in Lulu, and that flatters her. Shelinda appears and tells Tidus that Seymour is in Macalania.

Thunder Plains

Yuna still has doubts and asks a portrait about what she could do. Seeing that Seymour is in Macalania, they should go there, but there's a thunder plain in their way and they have to cross it.

wZFpM.png

Rikku is afraid of Lightning and doesn't want to go, but has to do it if she wants to keep being Yuna's guardian.

Ng9Jm.png
3ny8E.png

This place is evil and throws thunders at my poor characters. Luckily, they aren't lethal and Tidus is only pushed back a little. There are Qactuar stones in which you push the square button and little qactuars start appearing in the plains as random battles.

b6RK6.png
RCcYL.png

Shelinda says that the Guado are alrady spreading rumours about the wedding and Rikku keeps being Rikku.

8sobz.png
fyAqT.png

Thanks to her, the party has to stay at the inn a little and Yuna takes advantage of that to go take a room for her.

ZrZWC.png
lFJZU.png

Rikku explains the origins of her astraphobia: She was in the sea with her brother when a evil monster attacked her. As someone clever would know, aquatic fiends are weak to thunder and he used a thunder spell against the monster but failed and hit her. Rin appears and if you tell him that your progress in Albhed goes well he will give you another primer.

tk0QJ.png
WeDZz.png

Tidus tries to eavesdrop and ends getting in Yuna's room when she was seeing the content of the sphere. Just when he's going to see it Wakka appears and does some "funny" things. Sometimes I think he's some kind of idiot.

WMTOL.png
u2H1e.png

Monster alert: In the northern part of the plains we can find Iron Men. No, they aren't super heroes, and they like slashing my characters. They use their sword to protect themselves so Lulu and Auron are your best bets to kill them.

GZARe.png
sIFHd.png

These cute monsters are the Qactuars (Cactuars that came from the desert). They have sky high evasion so overdrives are good to kill them. Yuna wants the guardians to stop so she can tell them that she's going to marry Seymour.

ZNgfl.png
gLNZL.png

Auron knows there's something suspicious about Jyscal's sphere and wants to see it, but Yuna thinks it's a good idea to do what she thinks she must do alone.

It's over. FF6 is over. I killed Kefka in literally one attack (Terra had max HP and 2 Ultima Weapons and a Master's Scroll at level 77). I didn't get the Ragnarok, but whatever. And, having finished it, I will say this: Regardless of whether video games are "art" or not, and forgetting whatever anyone has ever said about writing in video games and the stories in Final Fantasy in general, the ending to Final Fantasy 6 is nothing short of perfection.

I laughed, I cried, I felt complete by the end. And it's funny because the ending tells you so very little, but THAT SCORE is just so Godly that it's hard to hold back the tears when
Shadow's theme kicks in hardcore and he tells Interceptor to leave him as he welcomes his death.
The way every character's theme is worked into the finale is amazing. You spend the whole final battle building up to Kefka's, then when he's dead, his theme is overwhelmed by the themes of the party and everything they've gone on to find that proves him wrong.

FF6 may not be the most balanced in the series or the most difficult, but damn all who claim this is nostalgia talking, it's writing was and is spot-on the whole way through. You're given 14 distinct characters and it must be the standard throughout the series for developing them (granted that Gogo and Umaro don't get nearly so much as the rest.).

This is why the game never had a sequel, too. Because what sequel could possibly do justice to an ending like that?

Macalania Woods

The bulk of this forest's monsters are water elemental, so it's a good idea to not use the Brotherhood sword and overkill the fiends with Thundara.

FeoaI.png
yLDLF.png

The big monster of this area is the chimera. It has a diverse movepool including the blue magic Aqua Breath. Barthello appears running and tells the group that Dona has disappeared. They tell him to calm down and ask if they can help. He declines and continues searching.

Wb20U.png
0nDX4.png

We can see in the first screenshot the effect of a petrifying weapon, it's like instant death, and it even gives AP! But you can't overkill this way, so it isn't that wonderful.

It can do some powerful attacks, but that's nothing Yuna can't cure. The reward for the fight is a sphere Jecht left here.

Hope you like it! BTW, if you have War of the Lions, and you want a Dark Knight, I suggest grinding as early as possible.

I tried a scort mission and the thieves killed him in the second turn. Any tips? I didn't know only chemists could throw potions and at this point white magic isn't an option... I have like a million squires and I don't know what should I do. Should I recruit people?
