In honor of Final Fantasy's 25th anniversary, GAF Plays: Final Fantasy games

I've never played a FF game before and I just bought Final Fantasy III for SNES a couple days ago on ebay. Pretty pumped to play it, it looked like a great game from some youtube videos I saw of it.

A question for the ages.

Pt.19 "Inheritance"

Back in the Sector 5 Slums, Aeris, who's now wearing pink, is tending to the flowers in the church. Suddenly rain begins falling, and something compels her to look upwards towards the sky. The expression on her face turns to a worried one. She has no words. Only tears. But for who? And why? Aeris herself may not yet know.

It's raining over the battlefield as well. Zack lay there in the mud, covered in blood, rain, and dirt. The army is gone. Zack is left clinging on to whatever little amount of life he has in him. At this time, Cloud finally regains the ability to move on his own and weakly crawls out of the cover he'd been left in. He gazes down at his battered friend.

Zack: "For the...both of us..."
Cloud: "Both of us?"
Zack: "That's right...you're gonna... You're gonna... Live."

Zack: "You'll be... my living legacy. My honor, my dreams, they're yours now."
Cloud: "I'm your...living legacy..."

Zack's eyes shut. Cloud's gaze raises towards the sky, eyes full of tears. The memories of the time he'd spent with Zack passes through his heart and mind. Cloud takes one last look at Zack, then stands and begins limping away, weakly dragging the Buster Sword behind him.

Cloud: "Thank you. I won't forget. Good night... Zack."

The rain has cleared up and the sun is shining brightly upon Zack's body. As his consciousness slips away, he sees in his minds eye a white feather floating down from the sky. "That girl, she said that the sky frightened her. That looks so...liberating. Those wings... I want them too." His outreached hand is grasped by the one that had come down from the sky, and Zack is pulled away to the afterlife...

You're in for a treat, my friend! FF III SNES (or FFVI) is one of the best and a personal favorite for me.

And no pressure but if you don't like it you will meet the furious nostalgia of a thousand suns.

I can already imagine Heidegger in a giant robot as the final boss.

The soul of rebirth thing was a really good idea: You already know Zack dies, but that isn't the end! You must save the world behind the scenes without it being recognized by anyone. A true hero.

That's how I've been playing the game. When Zack kicks the can, it'll be time for SoR mode, and he will end Minerva.

Crisis Core... ;___;

The Price of Freedom was great. The direction of that entire portion was really good, right down to the usage of the DMW.

Hmm... You know, because I finished a report early, I could probably beat the Land of Summons bosses and write up an FF4 update this weekend. We're between dungeons I dislike and I'm doing two dungeons that I like right now so the update could be kinda fun... sorta.

CorvoSol said:
Fuck that shit. When Zack dies, here's what happens: FF7 Soul of Rebirth. He gets all the way there to the top of Arruboth, decides that Minerva is FULL of it, and murders her so hard and so fast that even Firion would blush.
Sequel starring Zack and some lifestream dudes. Nope, Zack is a one-man wrecking crew.

Model reusage... or something more?!

That first model is really creepy, btw. Heck, if I keep looking at them long enough, I start finding something that isn't likeable about the models. But there's something weird about the first model and I can't put my finger on what it is that I don't like about it.

And once again Aerith would not be made playable. Brilliant. I love it.

I'm just behind you Lindsay. I could finish this game tonight, but I still have like, 30 missions left before I can kill Minerva. And this doesn't end until Minerva does.

Aren't those the two Deepground commanders from Dirge of Cerberus? You know whos. I don't think this is a mystery XD

What's a Dirge of Cerberus?
Hee hee.

Edit: You know, I always thought these guys used conical swords. I'll keep thinking that they use conical swords.

Bro you're mistaken. The compilation ends at Advent Children. Genesis' carcass was dragged back to Shin-Ra HQ and subsequently used in Hojo's breeding experiments until Diamond Weapon destroyed the entire building.

That's totally how it happened.

Subconsciously noticing that Weiss' uniform is different than the regular SOLDIER's uniform?
He has a Deepground emblem that no one else has.

Or maybe it's because his model has no eyes whereas Nero's does.

Meanwhile, all FF fans should check out these ladies:

They're pretty talented.

Pt.?? "Legacy"

The assignment in Nibelheim. Investigate the cause of the recent monster outbreak and fix any issues with the reactor. In addition to those, Zack & Sephiroth had personal business here. They were following their lead regarding the whereabouts of Lazard, Hollander, and Genesis.

ibtTd7Ajls3BdW.jpg
iDVPVbhLU6wow.jpg

When Cloud later revisits Zack's hometown of Gongaga, this time consciously, he meets Zack's parents. Cloud denies knowledge of his friend, perhaps to spare the parents some bad news...?

ibsjsEZNNKiqaF.jpg
ibszWXSRfeyCtN.jpg

iuXwzqN9HFUN.jpg
ipqZRPA8F52vN.jpg

Nibelheim burns after Sephiroth goes nuts due to Hojo's monsters, a poorly timed and worded question from Zack, and Genesis's prodding. Zack, Cloud, and Tifa are badly injured while Sephiroth is killed. Zack & Cloud would be experimented on and held in captivity for 4 years.

ibnGFkPHT9Qnse.jpg
iDGERfPXK3SyY.jpg
ibzMHmyI1JS0PY.jpg

Tifa... doesn't know him? But she was his guide, sent him mail, and turned down his aid! Then again after what went down she did kind of end up hating everyone in Shinra & SOLDIER. Putting him out of mind may have been a coping method since his arrival pretty much coincided with her hometowns destruction.

ibmZVbFgR29ob2.jpg
i7UyP1SDb8QMp.jpg

Fighting in some tournament in another world may have just been a dream. But even in said dream Zack did his best and won it all.

iPxDkLi1dGKlK.jpg

i6ZbXPLrODfHF.jpg
ibwqsHuXnROfM3.jpg

A vision of Angeal was the kick that Zack needed to finally break himself and Cloud out of their imprisonment. Zack then decided to get back to Midgar in order to reunite with Aeris. He fought off Shinra troops and mechs to safely escort his mako addicted friend. Along the way Cissnei defied orders to capture them and instead gave the pair some aid. From Nibelheim, to the Cosmo Canyon area, to Gongaga, Genesis and troops would get in their way. He reunited with Director Lazard and killed Hollander in battle before deciding to head for the ruins of Banora to take care of Genesis once and for all. After that he got back on track to Midgar.

iXK2ZgDRymBye.jpg
imNrkBT9EnWUY.jpg

The Turks wouldn't have forgotten him, right? He was bros with Tseng and in good with Cissnei. Turks & SOLDIER cooperated in assignments a number of times and for some of those he was there. And in the end they were out there trying to save his life.

ibtE3trtFh9NPa.jpg
ibgjmoyLtHysu2.jpg
iVlNRB0JWgloP.jpg

Poor form Zack. Never even told the girl you were dating your hometown? Maybe it's not a big deal, but why would Cloud lie to her? Because Zack was her first boyfriend and she apparently didn't know his fate either.

ipXKEEcyli2jK.jpg
iKvaiH5qzlmBt.jpg

iIa6cFk7wBp6.jpg
iiugemM90hXY4.jpg

In the outskirts of Midgar, Zack saw trouble coming and hid Cloud. Cissnei and the Turks were desperately searching to try and save the pair yet their mission was unsuccessful. Zack fought off a crazy number of infantrymen but he'd never make it back to Aeris. The few grunts that remained finished him off and left Cloud for dead. Cloud crawled up to his dying friend and inherited his sword and ideals, then drug himself to the city...

I'm pretty sure Cloud isn't lying at this point. He honestly doesn't remember all that stuff until AFTER the fact, as at that point in time he was under the impression that he WAS Zack. In other words, Cloud legitimately does not remember those things because he's in severe need of therapy at that moment.

Tifa, on the other hand, is just straight up lying.

We're the Gullwings!

After one week in Costa del Sol, our favourite girls are back with more dresses and missions. They work as sphere hunters in the Gullwings group, led by Rikku's brother: Brother! They also count with a wiz kid called Shinra working in the intelligence division and Buddy as their buddy and person who locates the missions. But the most valuable asset is an airship since the begining of the game!

vcN1r.png
D87UB.png

One thing that must be done to speed up progress is deactivating the dressphere changing animation. It keeps doing the complete animation the first time and that's enough hassle for me. Thanks to Shinra, you can see Yuna's reason to join the gullwings: A sphere where a person that looks like Tifus appears and whines.

C0zOU.png

You can learn Al Bhed in this game by hearing conversations in that language. The primers then symbolize Yuna's progress. We have the problem of physical primers that appear in the desert, but who cares?

REYAi.png
Ynv1q.png

All the places in this ship are connected by an elevator. I can't imagine what would happen to the Gullwings if it breaks. We can see in the second screenshot the engine room. It contains four chests and that brings me to tell that chests have new content in each chapter (except in the fourth).

i9SGI.png
g6yhO.png

The gullwings have an hypello slave working for them as a barkeeper. His name is very original too: Barkeep, oh my! You can do an apparently useless thing in this place: Rest. Why would you do that? It activates an extra scene in the fifth chapter if you rest in every chapter.

vn2Gx.png
aYIvt.png

Yuna is running in a funny fashion when she's warned about a new mission. She must go to Mount Gagazet with the rest of the Execution Squad. We can see the place selection menu, but we can't do anything right now other than selecting Mount Gagazet. But that's for the next update!

Updated summary (up to post 3316).

Huh? The thread suddenly moved very fast while I was sleeping. So the summary is a bit lower on the page this time. Also, you guys post too much. The summary is now 5 pages long (by a few characters).

Bonus: If you want to take screenshots on your PSP, follow Stumpokapow's instructions here and here.
Bonus 2: Need to get rid of black borders in your pictures? Look here.
Bonus 3: In the event that any Vita FF game is released, you can take screenshots by pressing the Home and Start button at the same time. This does NOT work for PSP and PSX games on the Vita.

If you find a mistake or something I missed, feel free to contact me.
Also, if you have a better version of one of the logo images (that still looks good at 60px height), send me a PM.

And manly tears were shed ; ;

I think that's one of things holding me back from playing CC. Just knowing what eventually happens to Zack...

Feels bad, man. :(

CorvoSol said:
Fuck that shit. When Zack dies, here's what happens: FF7 Soul of Rebirth. He gets all the way there to the top of Arruboth, decides that Minerva is FULL of it, and murders her so hard and so fast that even Firion would blush.

I'd be totally cool with this.

No way, man, you have to play it. It's the best part of the compilation, and any story that causes that much of an emotional reaction is a GOOD STORY.

It's a story of being a hero (and failed heroes) and it's really inspiring in its own way.

Ugh, this game really ends in a Game Over.
Thats a depressing thought yet good analogy! Now I wanna see the games "real" game over screen. *boots game back up*

I would say you've become a hero, Zack. :(
For sures! He defends lotsa people and saved Cloud and was prolly a role model to some. Not many people will remember him but he still earned the hero title!

Hmm... You know, because I finished a report early, I could probably beat the Land of Summons bosses and write up an FF4 update this weekend.
Land of Summons? Do you fight summons in that game to??

I'm pretty sure Cloud isn't lying at this point. He honestly doesn't remember all that stuff until AFTER the fact, as at that point in time he was under the impression that he WAS Zack. In other words, Cloud legitimately does not remember those things because he's in severe need of therapy at that moment.

Tifa, on the other hand, is just straight up lying.
CorvoSol: …whisper…whisper… (Hey! Cloud's not lying.)
Lindz: …whisper…whisper… (I know I know but you're ruining the narrative.)
CorvoSol: …whisper… (You think so…?)
Lindz: Of course! (to the Thread) We're gonna move on…
Thread: So move on! …messin' round %&*$#&! Don't forget we're following other stories!

But the most valuable asset is an airship since the begining of the game!
Thats gotta be as awesome as it sounds.

We can see in the second screenshot the engine room. It contains four chests and that brings me to tell that chests have new content in each chapter (except in the fourth).
Hey CC did something like that to!

You can do an apparently useless thing in this place: Rest. Why would you do that? It activates an extra scene in the fifth chapter if you rest in every chapter.
Secrets like that are crafty yet evil.

Haha, sorry Lindsay. That's what I get for posting two hours past bedtime's bedtime last night.

The plus side is that I can now go and kill Minerva at any point I so desire. Which of course means that I am going to go and ruin Genesis' soul first. I'm back in Banora and it's all Life-Streamy and for whatever reason in four years Shin-Ra has failed to notice an abundance of readily available Mako right there. Oh well.

I have hella homework today, so I don't know when I'll be able to finish the game.

That's all for Crisis Core! Looks like my participation in this here thread is complete! Needless to say, the OP has gotten its last update. Filling in all the anime blanks and making sure these last two parts are linked and all that good stuffs.

Aeris is up in Sector 8 selling flowers, though she'd gotten distracted by some pretty lights in an alley. She comes back to her senses and strolls out of the alley and right back onto the main street. With flower basket in one arm, and her eyes searching for customers, her mission to fill the world with flowers continues.

I don't use this term very often, but that scene of Cloud on the train at the end of CC always gives me chills. It's probably the perfect way to end the game.

Dark Schala

I definitely agree with that. Even if the ending made me tear up, that scene on the train with Cloud made me grin like an idiot.

Land of Summons? Do you fight summons in that game to??
Yep, just a few, though. They're optional.

Dunno if I'm gonna go out of my way to get the summon drops, though. Sorta don't wanna; might resort to Game Genie if I do. I found a funny code and I'm itching to test it out and see if it truly works.

YRP's first real mission begins in a new area with new assets! Yuna gets a little dizzy and almost dies. That would have been a really silly death after defeating Yunalesca and Sin. Brother pampers Yuna a little too much and scolds Rikku when she does the same things. It's obvious what's happening.

rdCfX.png
w0Q4X.png

New mechanic, jump: Press O and Yuna will jump in some scripted places. Being scripted means that it works much better than in FFXIII-2, so I don't mind this mechanic in this game. In certain places, if you don't press the button, Yuna will fall and get some goodies this way.

WaPah.png
pTQkP.png

Let's explore a little the equipment screen. We can equip the garment grid, one of its dresspheres and two accesories. The stats are the same than in FFX and their names are really autodescriptive. What I really wanted to bring up here is that there are some accesories that let use certain skills from other jobs or unique ones (You can use Hastega thanks to a certain accesory but there aren't dresspheres that let you use it). Garment grids work like a third accesory, as they can give stat increases, extra skills, etc.. Hmmm, a button? What will it do?

I'll Give You Something Hot!

Boss battle 4, Leblanc, Ormi and Logos: The three of them attack, but Leblanc can also buff her partners. After I steal their goods I take care of them one by one. Their aren't very damaging, I suppose that's because potions are the only means to heal. A nice touch in this game is that after all the enemies are defeated, the girls use the healing/support skills that they were charging. It's always nice getting extra AP.

M5kzr.png

7zMev.png
Mission Start

Leblanc says she was being easy on them. I think she isn't lying, as the next battle against the three of them is much tougher. New mission: Chase Leblanc and her cronies while a timer goes down. Reward for not screwing up: An accesory.

Ormi and Logos throw some goons at our ladies to slow them down while they run like idiots. Snake, SNAKE, SNAAAAAAAAKE!

BEUUB.png

You better get accustomed to this generic type of dungeons. With a few wall assets you get the ability to create some extra dungeons! Imagine the typical 100 floor dungeon with this type of walls! There are three types of these generic dungeons: Ruins, caves and facilities. After a little detour, the gullwings get a fire ring. It teaches Fire and halves fire damage (It also increases a little the magic power so it doesn't do crap damage while using a physical job).

End the chase sequence and you'll see these clowns hanging from an edge. If you reach this place in less than six minutes, a muscle belt can be obtained.

The Who - Boris the Spider

Boss battle 5, Boris: It's weak to fire, so the ring I've just obtained is pretty good for this fight. Paine's Flametongue is also a good skill to use. It uses some nasty tricks like sticky end, but it isn't anything a potion can't solve.

Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

When the girls return to the airship they see Brother injured. Yuna can walk all over him and hear how he groans. No regrets.

xZUHN.png

When Shinra analyzes the content of the sphere, they see that the recording is pretty uninteresting. Luckily, the person who recorded it was a Black Mage and they use it as a dressphere. My theory about the gunner, thief and warrior dresspheres is that they are recordings of themselves.

BxNdj.png

Well, at this point you can fly all over Spira. There are two places that are required to advance the story and the rest can have optional missions... or not. These two places are Besaid and Zanarkand and when you complete them, the story advances immediately and you lose access to all the optional stuff in the chapter. So the best thing to do is complete Besaid (it gives the White Mage dressphere), then do the optional stuff and finally go to Zanarkand.

Until the next update!

[Part 1 / 5] [Part 2 / 5] [Part 3 / 5] [Part 4 / 5] [Part 5 / 5]

I've never seen this movie before! Years ago when info first starting leaking about it I felt it would ruin FFVII and as such vowed to never give it a shot. But... I'd like ta think I grew up alil since then an hey I gots a sense of humor! So for the thread I borrowed a copy an I'm gonna do this thing! Now rather than taking it in movie-style, I'ma be watching it in 20 minute bursts, give or take, anime-style! With a runtime of 101 minutes I oughta need only 7 updates to get through this thing. Just like with Crisis Core, I'm not gonna play watch ahead of what I've posted, so keep them spoilers on the down-low! Going into this the only things I knew about it was Rufus somehow lived, Sephiroth is maybe involved somehow, Cloud has a motorcycle, and there's some mysterious illness. Enough talk! Time to fly blind!

001 - 020: Treecko to Lombre

i2y01fLchwsXN.jpg

Sooo things kick off where we left off in FFVII. The very very end with Red XIII and family taking a look down at the ruins of Midgar. A big old flock of birds fly over 'em too. No sounds of children this time. Nows not the time for any of that stuff! 498 years earlier... "To those who loved this world... ...and knew friendly company therein: This Reunion is for you."

ibsLluifY2MLij.jpg

Apparently the Turks are still an organization. Currently they're way up in the Northern Crater investigating something. I wonder if this region is Point 120 and Reno is still flying around looking for Zack? Anyhow this is halted however, when they end up in a scuffle with something or someone. By the way does Reno not age? He's looked the same for 8-9 years??

Some kid narrator now recollects the overall story of FFVII which I will attempt to relay to you all in a childish tone. "The Shinra people were bad men and we lived nice lives thanks to them. It hurt the planet but no one wanted to find another way. There was also the face a million fangirls fell in love with and things in weird containers we swore we'd stop looking in. Sephiroth wanted to hurt the planet more! 7 heroes set out to stop him for the rest of us." I guess Cait Sith was too cartoony for this serious business movie?

Its been 2 years since then and lifes getting back to normal but it looks like the planets a lot madder than we thought. Also Loveless is still popular." Little Marlene is looking after a kid named Denzel who's contracted a mysterious disease known as 'Geostigma' while Tifa tends to an empty bar. I bet the bar saw better business back before her breast reduction surgery. She and I get annoyed when her phone keeps ringing. She finally spares me from turning my sound off by finally picking it up and answering!

"Hello, Strife Delivery Service. You name it, we deliver i..." this business call is brought to you by... Reno?! He's got a job for Cloud, who's just hanging out in the wasteland. After receiving the message he drives off in his sweet sweet motorcycle. Nearby, a biker gang pulls up to the outskirts of town and rudely knocks over the Buster Sword planted in the ground! That things seen better days as use seems to have brought about wear, tear, and rust to it, but even so knocking it over is uncalled for! "Hey Kadaj. Is that where big brother lives?" the three goons seems pretty weird, one of them even starts crying about his mom! Their target is apparently Cloud whom they spotted zooming by. Two of 'em give chase, attacking with monsters and their own weapons. Luckily Cloud as always has a big sword on hand! The third one stayed behind to chat on the phone with someone whom he thinks has their mother. He gets fed up with the person and demands to speak to the president. The battles not going well for Cloud. His sword gets knocked away, he gets shot in the face, and the swarm of monsters are about to strike all at once... then the biker leader calls them off and they all go about their merry way.

"What up foo' it's Barrett! I am the man! Oil Cloud! I just found the biggest damn oil field you ever seen!" Dat Barrett VA! According to his message, he's doing well and will soon be able to get back home to see Marlene! Cloud pulls in to his destination and meeting with Reno. However instead of business Reno just wants to fool around. Cloud kicks his butt out of the building and locks the door for good measure lol. Rude's next but nah. He's a professional and stands down. Apparently he doesn't age either. "Good. You fight like the SOLDIER you once claimed to be." Rufus enter the room in a wheelchair and attempts to tell Cloud how he'd survived but Cloud don't give a fuck cause even he knows its a farce for him to be alive. Rufus changes the subject to their investigation of the planet. Shinra was at fault for what went down and now they want to set things right. Fair enough. They found nothing useful in the Northern Cave, only Kadaj's gang who attacked them. He wants to hire Cloud to fight them. "Cloud, look. You're an Ex-SOLDIER, aren't you?" "Heh. In my head..." They just wanna rebuild the world, put smiles on kids faces, and restart Shinra? Whoops. Shouldn't have said that Reno! Cloud's just an interstellar delivery boy now so he wants nothing to do with any of this.

iFMGzwb2uxNoX.jpg

Tifa and Marlene enter the Sector 5 church which is still intact to some degree. Plenty of flowers are growing and they gather that this is where Cloud has been slumming about. The two discover that he may be sick like Denzel, yet Cloud never bothered to tell them about. He's gonna get a lecture for that!

iLtFSaSNBuPxQ.jpg
ibqANlEFJhPHHe.jpg

Back at Resort del Rufus, Reno & Rude got a beatdown from Kadaj for lying to him. Rufus says they carelessly lost the thing Kadaj was seeking while running from them which is the honest truth. Kadaj tosses bloody IDs of Tseng & Elena to the floor implying he killed them?! Not Elena!! Another Reunion is coming and all of Kadaj's bros & sis's are gonna gather up for it and together they'll take revenge on the planet? He's not a very bright boy, is he? Did he not ever hear about WEAPON among other things? "Mothers memetic legacy lives on in the Lifestream." and that's the reason behind Geostigma? I dunno. Maybe I'll find out next time!

Question, what are the game over conditions for Zack?

Because I am kinda invincible here and this last fight is going on FOREVER. As in, I began with max SP and I quite literally cannot die as nothing does damage to me anymore and I regen so fast it doesn't matter.

So: How does Zack die in the VEEEEERY last battle? Is it a loss of SP or HP? I hope it's SP because otherwise I CANNOT LOSE THIS FIGHT EVER AT ALL EVER.

And did I mention that I fought the HARDEST BOSS IN THE GAME AND SHE COULD NOT DO SQUAT TO ME?

Like, I don't know what happened here, but Zack has attained divinity. Minerva couldn't touch him. I mean, the first time yeah because she sapped his SP, but when I got that figured out (Lucky Stars Materia FTW) then I was untouchable. HER LIMIT BREAK DID NO DAMAGE.

And I can't figure it out. I didn't cheat. I don't have max HP. My VIT stat is still a mere 50+ compared to the whopping 255 in ATK and MAG and 142 in SPR. So how come nobody and nothing can touch Zack anymore? Is it because I'm level 84 and the game just gave up?

WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?

I swear I have killed like, 10k Shin-Ra soldiers already. In one battle Zack Fair is going to kill more men than Sephiroth, Genesis and Hojo combined. I still have about 20 million SP to lose before anything happens here.

Nevermind. Pardon me as I feel all over the place. Oh man oh man. I just, gosh darn it, the Zack parts of this game are so good that you completely forgive the Genesis parts. My feels are everywhere, guys. EVERYWHERE.

Why do you keep doing this to me, Tabata? WHY!?!?!

Zack Fair, Soldier 1st Class:
Lvl:81, 67839HP/300MP/246AP, ATK 255, MAG255, SPR 146, VIT65, LUK14.
Genji All, Curaga HP+999%, Costly Punch ATK+100, Death Twister ATK +100, Ultima MAG+95, Exaflare MAG+100, SP Master SPR +81.
100% Mission completion.

I'm pretty sure the triggers for losing is your HP falling down to the Yellow then Red warning levels. Copter missiles are supposed to do massive damage but if you're out healing even those strikes or managed to kill the copters then uhh... good luck x_x?

I've never seen this movie before!

I hope it's not too late, but you should really see the Complete version. It's an extended cut, the story will make more sense and it has one damn cool action scene (my favorite of the movie) that was somehow cut from the 'normal' version. It also has more ties to Crisis Core.

LAST TIME: Some guy wandered into our universe and tried to claim himself as the main character. In this update, it's time for a birthday celebration!

This is a sidequest that was added into the PSP version of FFTactics. In order to even SEE this sidequest however, a lot of preparation is required. You must fulfill the following guidelines:

- Reach Chapter 4; you don't need to have any specific routes/destinations open during the chapter
- Agrias, Mustadio, and both of Agrias' knights must be on your roster
- You must land on a city/town space when the in-game calender hits Cancer 1
- You must have 500,000 gil or more when landing on that space

Once those conditions are filled, you're greeted with a nice in-game cutscene!

Don't worry, Mustadio. Everyone gets friend-zoned now and then. With that, the sidequest ends, and we receive the Tynar Rouge accessory. It's a handy female unit-only item that grants Auto-Protect, Auto-Shell, Auto-Haste and increases both physical and magical attack by 3. It also boost Holy-elemental attacks. Mustadio sure does know what to shop for. That's not the only bonus: the 500k isn't even deducted from your wallet!

...what? Just because we have Thieves on our roster doesn't mean anything, I swear!

NEXT TIME: I update with the actual story!

This place has lots of minigames, but I hate them so I won't try any of them. There are two rival companies fighting for the dominance here. I choose to help Open Air because Argent is run by a bunch of geezers. The help consists of talking about the company to the most people possible choosing between five catch phrases. Each one works better depending on the person and each person can give 5 points max. You can talk to them again after some time passes or the chapter ends. The objective is getting 400 points by Chapter 5.

There are some tigers lying in the plains. They're wasted by my girls as if they were paper sheets. There's another sidequest about looking for girlfriends so a man gets married. The mechanic is the same as with the marketing campaign, but it needs less points to get the max prize in chapter 5 (The Hastega/Auto-haste ring). Now I'll go to Besaid to continue the story.

It seems that Yuna escaped from Besaid without telling anyone. That isn't proper for a good girl like her. The group sees Wakka and they talk about Yuna's bad behaviour.

Wakka says that he's going to be a father... What? And the mother is my Lulu. I hope he doesn't drag her to a bad life. Talking with Yuna's neighbors you discover that this place is more calmed now that Yuna's fans don't come. I can't imagine Yuna's life as a celebrity.

It's evident that the person in the sphere isn't Tidus and Lulu comments about it. She also gives some advice to Yuna about how people will try to use her. It's time to rest a little and the group returns to the village. The evil shop girl wants to sell Yuna a key that costs 900.000 gils, hahaha.

The sphere becomes the White Mage dressphere and a new option appears in the main menu: White Mage. It automatically transforms the characters into white mages to cure the party members taking advantage of their high MP so each cast drains a lower percentage than it would do in other jobs and their low HP to cure a higher percentage of their life with each cast. When you exit that menu, the girls revert back to their last dresspheres.

Let's talk a little about "gates": Those little coloured symbols give stats bonuses/skills when a girl passes through them while switching dresspheres. Unfortunately, they only last until the battle ends. Sadly, that's the only way to use some powerful spells like Flare...

You know, I think my game of FFIII/VI (snes) has glitched, can anyone tell me if this is the case? According to the walkthroughs, in the World of Ruin I should be able to go to Owzners House in Jidoor and pick up one of my party members (I think Strago). But when I go to the house the lights are on and none of the paintings are attacking me, so I don't know how to get into the dungeony area under the house.

Any ideas?

You know, I think my game of FFIII/VI (snes) has glitched, can anyone tell me if this is the case? According to the walkthroughs, in the World of Ruin I should be able to go to Owzners House in Jidoor and pick up one of my party members (I think Strago). But when I go to the house the lights are on and none of the paintings are attacking me, so I don't know how to get into the dungeony area under the house.

Any ideas?

Tried turning off the lights?

Did you rescue Shadow? If that's the case then you have to go to the Veldt cave and rescue Relm so Owzer's house becomes haunted.

Oh yeah, that too, you have to do the Shadow/Relm rescue subquest, then go to Thamasa, THEN go to Thamasa again to see that they're not there. Then head back to Jidoor.

Yeah, nothing happened if I did. Ghesthal's picture still gave me the letter though.

I didn't rescue Shadow :( he died on the floating island, I forgot all about him till after I got off there! I rescued Relm at the Veldt already although she's not in my party (it was a few weeks back and I can't remember what happened exactly...).

Ah cool, I'll try that then, doing some hopping around. I need to level all my party and get Ultima on them still anyway, and that's going to take some time it seems...

I'm pretty sure the triggers for losing is your HP falling down to the Yellow then Red warning levels. Copter missiles are supposed to do massive damage but if you're out healing even those strikes or managed to kill the copters then uhh... good luck x_x?

Oh there ya go! Amazing stats & gear! Congrats on clearing all the missions without succumbing to boredom/tears/madness! What was the secret boss battle like? Any dialogue/story behind it or just start mission-fight monster like so many others?

See, here's the way it went: Mission starts, battle starts, boom. It's just a straight up boss-fight against the woman from the ending, except now she has a helmet on. The weird "literally nothing does above 0 damage to me" was in effect here, too, and the only way I was getting hurt was in SP, which thanks to some luck and the Lucky Stars materia, I never ran out of.

I think maybe SP Master converts all damage from HP to SP.

Odd note: You know how everybody says that in FF7 Cloud is actually shy and the cockiness is Zack's persona? I have to disagree. According to Tifa in the first half hour of the game, Cloud was always a pretty cocky guy. I'd guess that failing to make SOLDIER was the only reason he was so shy around Zack and stuff in Crisis Core.

He was a different sort of cocky back then--he wasn't even 14 yet and wanted to impress Tifa by being the BEST SOLDIER IN THE WORLD. He also was pretty brave as a kid, helping Tifa when she fell...and then getting blamed for it.

I think we all had that "cockiness" as kids.

In fact that's completely right that his shame at failing to make SOLDIER and becoming a lowly stormtrooper caused his withdrawal.

btw what's the name of the other two dudes in Kadaj's group, I didn't catch their names. Fist Guy and GunSword Guy? No that can't be right! I should prolly know these for future reference an all.

It's probably the perfect way to end the game.
It made me wish the game would've kept going from there >.<

Yep, just a few, though. They're optional.

Dunno if I'm gonna go out of my way to get the summon drops, though. Sorta don't wanna; might resort to Game Genie if I do. I found a funny code and I'm itching to test it out and see if it truly works.
Ack! Is nothing in later FF games unique? Monsters, common minor character names, fighting summons, magic...

New mechanic, jump: Press O and Yuna will jump in some scripted places.
Reused jumping mechanics... FF series really is just a lesser DQ!

Reminds me of your rivals in .hack//G.U. Bordeaux (female leader with long jagged blade), Negimaru (skinny guy with dual weapons) and Grein (big silent guy).

You better get accustomed to this generic type of dungeons. With a few wall assets you get the ability to create some extra dungeons!
You can make dungeons?

I hope it's not too late, but you should really see the Complete version. It's an extended cut, the story will make more sense and it has one damn cool action scene (my favorite of the movie) that was somehow cut from the 'normal' version. It also has more ties to Crisis Core.
Still only saw the first 20 minutes so far so not to late but the copy I borrowed is the 2 disc special edition dvd. The back of the case doesn't mention anything about added scenes so I guess its the vanilla version? Can't do nothing about that!

- You must land on a city/town space when the in-game calender hits Cancer 1
Is that as hard as it sounds?

Well, not every monster is the same. It seems the designers weren't afraid to put big enemies since the begining, but at this point they can't be too much powerful.
On that note its obvious and all your levels and stuff are set back to 1 at the beginning of X-2 but is there any bonus to having/loading a finished X game save on your memory card when starting the sequel? Like a special cutscene or bonus item or some extra money to kick off the game with?

Sheesh you're talking about stuff I never even heard of! Master SP who what? Blah! I don't need ta know anyways since I'm SO done. That boss battle sounds lame and since there's no dialogue accompanying it I decree that this alleged goddess is nothing more than a wet dream Genesis briefly had when Zack knocked him the heck out!

Cloud was shy as a little kid that's why he excluded himself from Tifa and her friends group. But! He was also cocky in that he thought they all acted like kids... even though he and they were kids! Failing to save Tifa from that fall just gave him anger issues on top of that stuff. The military prolly knocked the cocky/anger right outta him so we're left with just shy Cloud again up until the start of FFVII. Being a total headcase is just his thing! He's also a master of deception but that's not played up nearly as much.

Kadaj - Dual bladed Souba Katana
Yazoo - Long haired, most resembles Sephiroth. Uses the Velvet Nightmare gunblade.
Loz - Childish muscleman, uses the Dual Hound gauntlet. Also has his own gunblade.

I was talking from a developer standpoint. Many of the new dungeons look that can be made by a simple "dungeon editor".

There's nothing.

Did I mention that I literally killed the final boss of the game in one blow? Seriously, the missions leading up to Minerva have these hella hard monsters with hundreds of thousands of HP, Minerva herself has 10 MILLION HP, and Genesis?

Doesn't break 100k.

SP Master is the best Materia in the SP Turbo set. SP Turbo is divided into attack and magic, which boost your attack or magic by draining your SP. Normally no biggie but when you hit 0 SP your DMW goes 666 automatically causing Zack to either die or be reduced to 1 HP. The entire fight with Minerva was about keeping my SP up, which is hard, since outside of triggering the DMW, there's no way to replenish SP during a boss-fight. SP Materia, I think, converts all damage from HP to SP, meaning that Zack is essentially invincible until his SP runs out, at which point he dies.

And I forgot that Cloud was shy back home, too. I have something to confess here guys: This is only the second time I've ever played FF7, and I'm sorta falling in love with it again. As a kid I was as smitten with this game as ANYONE, but we didn't have anything but the PC version and I rarely got to play. I bought it the year I graduated high school and played it then, and in the 5 years since I haven't touched it.

And in spite of the absolutely terrible graphics, I am falling for this game again. Just like when I played 8 for the first time in 08.

Oh, and I started FF4 TCC. I want to see if I can finish FF4 again before Dark Schala ever finishes telling us Batman's dying dream. Probably not, but lapping would be so cool.
