Mega Man 25th Anniversary Playthrough Topic of Stealing Other Thread Ideas

Just finished Mega Man 10 for the first time. There is literally nothing memorable about this game.

Solar Man's music is kind of cool though.

Seeing some of the Mega Man 2 boss powers in one of the Wily Stage's was a nice touch but it made me wish I was playing that instead

Gonna play a little bit of Mega Man Soccer just for "fun" since I only have an hour before I have to be somewhere and don't want to delve into MM7 just yet.

I have only played it for a few minutes before, so I have no clue how the game works. So this should be fun to see.

Did you play Mega Man & Bass?

I only played the GBA version, but I got the Super Famicom version from my brother and am going to play that after Mega Man 8. It'll be so good!

I plan on playing the games in this order. Once I get done with this list I'm going to make a Part 2, 3, etc. list of sorts for the other series' (not including those shit shows Battle Network and Star Force). But right now I am concentrating on the Classic and World series.

1. Mega Man
2. Mega Man 2
3. Mega Man 3
4. Mega Man 4
5. Mega Man 5
6. Mega Man 6
7. Mega Man 7 and Mega Man Soccer (doubt I'll play Soccer much)
8. Mega Man 8
9. Mega Man & Bass (and its sequel, unfortunately)
10. Mega Man 9
11. Mega Man 10
12. Mega Man Gameboy
13. Mega Man 2 Gameboy
14. Mega Man 3 Gameboy
15. Mega Man 4 Gameboy
16. Mega Man 5 Gameboy

I might add Mega Man for Game Gear and Wily Wars to this also.

I remember playing the Game Gear Mega Man... it was really awful. Wily Wars was pretty cool though, even if the music is inferior.

I bought Mega Man Game Gear a month or so ago but never played it. I always thought it looked fine other than the atrocious field of view, but I want to give it a try.

I really want to get to the Wily Tower thing I always hear about in Wily Wars. Only problem is I have to beat Mega Man 1-3 pretty much all over again, hahahaha. Oh well.

Well, I beat Mega Man Legends 2 for the first time, last night. Took me a good 13 hours to do so, and the gameplay holds up well 12 years later. I question some room design choices, but that's the PS1 era for you. Damn Capcom for not making Legends 3.

I've never ever played Legends 2 outside of the demo that came with Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

This is the game I am most excited to play.

Well when you get around to it, remember to hold square and then rapidly tap up. It's an animation exploit that lets you shoot more buster shots without upgrading, which renders the rapid and energy stats useless. The downside is you are always inching forward.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

Oh, and this is my playthrough of Wily Stages in Mega Man 6. I DIED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY PLAYTHROUGHS OF THE GAMES! And when I died against the Wheel boss thing on the second Wily Stage, the recording stopped for some reason and didn't record when I destroyed him without getting hit.

Wily Stages

So it just goes from me dying straight to the next stage, which makes no sense, hahahaha.

Man, 7 looks so weird because of the size of the sprites. I really don't care for that, it's like an upgraded Gameboy version with that field of view.

Use of color is tremendous though.

And yeah, Mega Man 7 is beautiful. It's especially good looking after having only played NES games the last two weeks, hahaha.

Man, the transition from 7 to 8 and then back to 9 is going to be jarring as hell for you, haha.

Played 9 for a bit last night. After you mentioned how well matched the MM5 stages were to their bosses, I kinda was looking at the stages differently in this. A lot of the stuff seemed really good for the associated boss, but a good portion of the obstacles seem kinda random. That said, I didn't remember how varied and carefully contrived the enemy placement and obstacles were. I mean, it's not like it's a secret that the game is trying to be MM2-2, but it was interesting coming back to it at this point in the playthrough thread and noticing just how different the design philosophy of the game was from almost every game after 2.

I'm surprised how interesting 7 seems to me now, but I kinda don't think I could enjoy it with MM's sprite being so oversized relative to the stage. It just seems really awkward or constricted or something. He should be like 30% smaller minimum. It just won't stop bugging me.

Run Dat ReXXX!!! Mega Man X Part 8: Air Guitar Solos While Riding On Museum Mine CARtS!!

Armor Armage is down with Launch Octopold waiting for the same treatment his buddies got. And the setup for "that" has already begun.

Man, you sound country as hell dude haha. I literally had to check your other videos to make sure you weren't my oldest college buddy, you sound so much like him.

For what it's worth, sometimes I actually prefer to clear that stage without the mine cart until the end, the stage feels too quick to me otherwise, and it lets me listen to the music longer :p

FUCK, I died against Burst Man because I got distracted by the TV and I completely ignored the fact that he put me in a bubble and rammed me into spikes.

The I no-hitted him afterwards FUCK YES!

Oh well, two deaths only through the first 7 Mega Man games isn't so bad.

Burst Man

Burst Man

I think a name change is in place... MegaMan Legend.

Any reason I should avoid the X Collection for PS2 or is it safe?

X Collection for PS2 is great, no worries.

Robot Museum

I love this level, despite how pointless it is.

I loved the music medley on the level. I purposely play through the level slowly just so I can hear it loop. I also loved that they had two broken cases in the background which hint that two other robots were stolen
who are hinted at being Cut Man and Wood Man as both turn up as boss battles in Mega Man 8 on the Saturn
.

I also love the Wily Fortress stage musics in MM7, among some of my favourite in the series.

Why on earth did they decide to go with 2 sets of 4 bosses instead of 8 off the bat...?

Overall design-wise though, other than some personal preference stuff, this one looks better than 6 to me.

Finished X4 with no armor and mega buster only. The only thing that have me any sort of trouble was Split Mushroom, that little bugger was a pain in my side, everything else was easy, even Sigma's final form.

Yeah, it's definitely better than 6.

I'm going back and getting a few things I missed in earlier levels, but I'm not going to record that shit.

Slash Man

I really like this level even though it's super easier. But I love the diversity of the levels in Mega Man 7. So much better than 6.

Slash Man is a pain in the fucking ass though, GODDAMMIT.

I don't remember much from Mega Man X2, 3 and 4, so I can't wait to play this shit. All I remember is not liking X2 and X3 that much, but loving X4.

So I beat Zx, very good game with a terrible map system. I tried the sequel and.. I dunno what to think of it, I died a ton of times on the plant boss, only to finally beat him, turn into him, then die at the first room while trying to figure out how to get to the second pole -_-

The robot forms thing is annoying, is it used that much and is that all you earn power wise?

Slash Man is probably my least favourite boss to battle with the buster next to a couple of the Megaman and Bass bosses. I have a whole heap of trouble when he drops that red goo on me, I can never evade it 100% of the time so it usually takes me several attempts before I beat him. I love his stage music though which makes the replay somewhat more bearable!

I get that a whole lot that I look familiar or sound that way to people but that's what happens when you know a lot of people from different places you pick up bits and pieces of that dialect.

And I'll be back that way and I might just take the slow road just for the fun of it all.

Speaking of...

Run Dat ReXXX!!! Mega Man X Part 9: OH NO HE DIDN'T!!!! OH YEAH HE DID!!!!!

Launch Octupold down but I have to get "that" and show off some things before I take on Sigma's Fortress.

Spring Man

Super easy level and the easiest boss in the entire game. The level can be annoying, though.

It might be my favorite level of any Classic Mega Man game in terms of secrets. It was so fun my first time playing trying to find everything in Mega Man 7, and I enjoyed finding stuff in Spring Man's stage the most.

Last week I finally beat MM8 and completed my GC Mega Man Anniversary Collection file, unlocking the G4 interview/special with Inafune. It was so cool seeing all the character drawings and logos in his sketchbooks. Anyways, here's my way of saying Happy anniversary, Mega Man!

I should really get some Mega Man merch! All I have is my amazing Mega Man 10 t-shirt.

Anyways:

Shade Man and Turbo Man. Turbo Man has one of the most diverse stages in the series. So much going on throughout the level, I love it.

Mega Man 7

Mega Man 7 marks a massive step forward from the incredibly dull Mega Man 6 in just about every single aspect. Gone are the stupidand dull level designs of such abominations as Centaur Man and Plant Man. While there is a lame Robot Master of the bunch (Junk Man), it never reaches the lows of Plant Man. Mega Man 6 also suffered mostly from of out of sync level design when compared to its respective Robot Master, with the levels never making any sense, with no fun gimmicks and levels that were never any fun. Mega Man 7 fixes that completely, easily making the most coherent and diverse set of levels of the entire series. Accompanying this is a mix of forgettable tracks, but occasionally fantastic tracks. The Wily Stages alone warrant a mention as the most consistently good Wily tracks in the entire series.

Perhaps most importantly is the return of the emphasis on the Special Weapons acquired from the Robot Masters. Not since Mega Man 3 have the weapons been this good, and they’re a massively improvement over the dismal selection in Mega Man 5 and 6. The coolest part, however, is how the weapons can also interact with the environment. For instance, shooting the certain machines with an electric bolt can start up an elevator to add an entirely new way of going about that section of that level. It is a ton of fun, and a refreshing change for the series.

Mega Man 7 is a fantastic entry in the series, and the best since Mega Man 2. With wonderfully animated graphics, fun and original level design, the best weapons in the series since 3, and a difficulty level not seen since the second, Mega Man 7 should have been more popular than it actually was. It could use a little tweaking (such as making the sprites slightly smaller), but all in all, Mega Man 7 is a glorious Mega Man title and one of the best action-platformers on the Super Nintendo.

Grade: A-

Fucking dying here.

Intro music rapidly and recently became one of my favorite MM tracks of all time, though I think it's actually because it kinda reminds me of SF3-age Capcom.

The art style in this is weird. I mean, it's that style Capcom had a lot at the time, kinda reminds me a lot of BoF4. I guess I'll have to look up the artists for these games.

MM looks worse than he did in 7 somehow, but at least he's the right size. The sorta 2.5D angle is really throwing me off, and I can't decide if the Mega Ball is the dumbest or most awesome thing ever.

Yeah, the art style is weird even if the graphics are technically great. I really don't like the faux 2.5d thing either. And Mega Man looks stupid as hell.

Tengu Man

God fucking dammit I had trouble with this asshole. Fuck Tengu Man. He isn't even hard, I just for some reason had a shit ton of trouble with him.

Yeah, huge skill gap, definitely. I barely got through MegaMan 3, but obviously with plenty of deaths since it's my first try. Even a run with less than 10 game overs is unfathomable.

You are good at Mega Man. A friend of mine can't even get past a single level in any of the games no matter how hard he tries, unless it's Mega Man 5, hahaha.

Grenade Man

Level is stupidly boring and Grenade Man is so fucking lame.
