Ok here are some screenshots. I wish the youtube quality were better, the compression is really noticable in the stills. Can't wait for the bluray!

If you have requests I have some time right now ;)

Just watched the last episode. Great ending to a great series.

Really looking forward to seeing the Chief and Lasky interact in Halo 4.

Band of Brothers-esque mini series following a group of ODSTs, please.

That would be the best thing ever. Make it happen 343!

This short series was more emotionally moving and more interesting as a story than all of the Halo games combined, just basically proved again why this industry still can't properly tell a proper story with decent dialogue, acting and pacingb in a game unless its through a live action short series.

To be fair, I can think of maybe two scenes in the entire game series that were even supposed to be emotionally moving. That's not really what the games are about.

Can't get enough of that ending,
that entire sequence on the pelican with the Spartan faces ("that's classified!") and the Chief just not caring at all about taking off his helmet, and then the Infinity stuff... so fucking good!!

And the Cortaba intro, total nerd chills when she popped up.

Slightly off topic but I saw some mention of the books previously. I read Cryptum and am about 2/3rds into Primordium (planning to finish before tuesday), but wanted to know where they stood in time relative to Halo 4.

I think I recall seeing a timeline somewhere that suggested that they occured before reach, is that accurate? And if the end of primordium will explain than that is also an acceptable answer.

Cryptum and Primordium take place like 100,000 years before Reach. It's the ancient history of the Halo universe.

Covenant first show up in human space in 2525, Reach takes place in 2552, and Halo CE, 2, 3, and ODST take place in the months immediately following that. Halo 4 takes place in 2557.

Question about the ending: Doesn't Lasky have an allergic reaction to one of the drugs used in Cryo sleep? Wasn't it life threatening? Does he just that that risk?
It actually looks to me like he has that nasty reaction on his skin right before he suits up at the end (old Lasky)--so it looks like he just soldiers through it?

Yep. Just making the choice/sacrifice.

I love how it ties into his heavy (labored) breathing in the beginning of the first episode.

This is awesome. Thanks for clearing that up!

Anyone know where I can find the song that plays at the end of ep5, from the point where we see
future lasky and cortana about to revive chief

I kinda worry we won't see anything of this scale until Halo 5 comes out because they used the marketing budget to make it.

Would be a shame, I'd love to get a miniseries per year. Maybe even longer than 5 eps

So damn awesome. I really, really hope they continue this. I think I would much prefer a on-going series to a full-on movie.

Where is my humble pie that I need to eat now. When this was announced, I thought it would be terrible and I had no interest in the series. But after seeing all 5 episodes, I think 343i and co have done a really excellent job with the series and there was more than one time where I was nursing a nerd semi - especially the end.

Now MS about that movie.

Would love a full resolution screencap of this:

Print screening the 1080p version off YouTube does not seem to do it justice.

You just won the internet.

Overall, happily suprised with how good FUD turned out.
Kid Laskey gave a great performance, Cortana was even more AI fabulous and the rest had plenty of highs and lows.

Thoughts on FUD 5:
-As with pretty much all the Cortana bits, I loved that opener and closer. Cortana looked stunning and less uncanny-sexy from what I've seen of the Campaign. So good.

-The Warthog "chase" ended up being less impactful than I'd expected, as the "action scene" that they were hyping up and talking about from almost Day 1.

-The slow mo here didn't work for me either, something about the whole turret was off, the CG Covies didn't make you "feel" their deaths, felt stilted and unconvincing

-The shot of the Hunter rearing up in front of the Chief and the cut away as it roars and he starts nailing it with his powerfully sounding AR was fabulous! Okay, the CG Hunter ... wasn't great, but I felt my butt pucker slightly.

-My girlfriend and I debated who will live and who will die after the last episode. She's gonna be pisssssed. As soon as I had explained to her my reasoning for assuming Miss Cute would die, in order to fully round off Laskey's "formation", she groaned. It's such a trope. I ultimately don't feel either way about it, but her "I'm sorry" line was unexpectedly touching

-The run away from the Hunter was not terrible, but short and insubstantial. Equally, that was a terribly unconvincing choice of hiding spot by the crew, but at least they didn't wait around and things moved quickly.

-Laskey's actor did a good job with the sprint, his face sold it, and his body getting tossed was a cool stunt, quite convincing

-The Chief on Hunter XXX-Rated Action (how had I never considered the potential of Mgalekgolo porn before!) was of quality mixed quality. The weakness in the Hunter CG showed itself again, but overall it was a good, if highly tropey fight

-Kelly and Fred were cool, if a little airbrushed clean. Scarred lightly sure, but they looked make-up'ed. Kelly's "That's classified" was too playful for my tastes too, but I liked the scene. Shocking the kids into seeing these also kid Super Soldiers was a good way to end the past story

-New Pelican, both bad CG and bad art. Un-necessary change. Yes, they likely used that model because it's the high res Halo 4 one but I don't have to like it

-Current Laskey is a badass, but there was a slip somewhere in how different the in-game model looks. Different source actors I'm assuming. Cryosleep suit up was great.

-4 days :)
I think imgur is currently dying, but I uploaded some of them to the album. Compressed heavily sadly, damn you youtube.

Yeah, the compression is killing it for me.

Ok, I just watched all 5 in one sitting thanks to this thread. I have questions. I've played 1-3 but I'm not very knowlegdable on the universe. Who are
Fred and Kelly? I saw them looking all cat-like with their helmets off. Obviously they're Spartans. Are they integral to the story? Will the be in 4?
Also, in regards to the timeline
I figure Master Chief was taken out of the cryo he was in at the end of 3 to help these kids. So will 4 already start with him years later and Lasky all grown up? I would assume they would pick it up directly from the end of 3 but then everything I just watched and all the years that passed don't make sense.
I was very entertained but this series, was the acting good? Meh... Did the action get me hyped for Tuesday? Absolutely.

Fred & Kelly: Other Spartan 2's. Unknown if in Halo 4, but I'd doubt it. 343 don't want to confuse the mass market, having Chief seem like the only remaining Spartan 2 elevates him in the eyes of the public.
FUD is set almost 20 years prior to the previous Halo games, very soon after humanity first encounter the Covenant.
Halo 4 happens yes, about 4 years later.

Oh well that makes sense. I didn't play the non-chief Halos so I thought I may have missed some info. Thanks for the clarification.

Does anyone know if the downloadable version you get with the Collectors Edition of Halo 4 is one big movie or is broken into parts like the ones we got every week? I hope it is just one long, stringed together movie instead of episodes.

Thanks and Kudos to anyone that knows!

Last episode was great. I edited them all together - putting the cortana opening of each episode at the end, edited to make sense in that format. Going to watch it in full with some friends tomorrow night :)

That's what I did too, it's fantastic this way :)

Protip for people who upload screencaps of an already compressed youtube video to Imgur: Imgur compresses pictures, just use Minus.

holy shit the music was so good. i didnt pay much attention the first time since i was so into it but this time, wow. sounds like a remixed version of "to galaxy" from halo 4. so so good.

I wonder if any of the disabled Spartans will ever show up in a Halo game. They are supposed to be key to the battle planning.

Yeah. Its taken some time but the music has grown on me. Its different, but you can hear classic echoes now and then if you listen.

And the way the music came to a head in the last minutes of episode 5 was too good. Definitely left me wanting more.
