if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
Ice Cube, Quik, D.O.C., Snoop, Dr. Dre(?)

Man, I forgot Quik as well. Seriously, only 10 albums is fucked up.

Funny how your top 1 is easier than your Top 10.
Cube is a funny beast

His greatest album aged poorly

Quik Snoop and DOC most definitely make it

What exactly is our criteria? Personal fav of all time?

i love that the bubs cover still lingers

no, i'm saying that im embarrassed that Soilbreh would disgrace his top 10 with some underwear stain like a lupe album. i dont distinguish between the two

i know that feel, its like every time someone mentions cudi droppin a classic
i mean it sounds great, but when do ya'll think it'll drop

Did no one notice my Below The Heavens cover because of the eerie similarity or over use of the joke?

The latter. I just kind of think of it every time the real cover gets shown. Now if there was a gif of Blu's face morphing into bubbles like this:

tumblr_m7fm5ytybb1qcs9coo1_500.jpg
i could still fuck with it

He already dropped it. You just forgot it to quote it in your mass-quote posts.

Man, I really need to put more work into my site. It'd be perfect for something like this! Would also be easy to collate the results to a GAF Hop top ten...

Contemplating whether I can get away with three Wu albums on my list - 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, and Cuban Linx. All three albums dominated my life at different times

Going to do a top 10 with no pictures. No order.

Nas- Illmatic

Lupe Fiasco- Food and Liquor

Kanye West- College Dropout

Outkast- Aquemini

GZA- Liquid Swords

Wu-Tang- 36 Chambers

Blu & Exile- Below the Heavens

Notorious B.I.G- Ready to Die

Mos Def- Black on Both Sides

Currensy- Pilot Talk

Only one I thought about keeping out was Pilot Talk, but I am more than okay with it being on that list. Good Kid just came out, but I can easily seeing it making my list in the future. I also didn't want to put two Lupe albums up there, unfair.

it shall pass

ha I meant it as a good thing as ill just watch, pick like 5 ones that I see the most and go from there. That GZA one appeared alot and from the one youtube search it sounded good.

What was the one released to do with that film recently like? I only know of it for the Danny Brown bit on one of them.

The Iron Fist soundtrack? It was pretty good, some highs some lows. The highs are REALLY FUCKING HIGH, but a lot of that is powered by our own deep seated wu-tang stannery.

Couple of these tracks

Are sick as hell tho

Okay I have an idea for a cool feature in the OP, I'd like for a bunch of you to list your top ten albums...The albums that you personally love, not the albums that you'd list on a hip-hop quiz and then I'm going to put them all in the OP under your name with a link to your single post. I want to keep things nice and tidy.

In no particular order:

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers

Outkast - ATLiens

Notorious B.I.G. - Ready To Die

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury

Ghostface Killah - The Pretty Toney Album (just for variety, it might not be my favorite Ghost album, but it's still amazing and mad underrated)

Nas - Illmatic

Redman - Muddy Waters

Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle

DMX - It's Dark And Hell Is Hot

Top Ten

Lupe Fiasco - The Cool
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons...
Kanye West - College Dropout
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, mAAd City
Eminem - The Slim Shady LP
Tupac - Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z.
The Roots - Game Theory
Nas - Illmatic
Busta Rhymes - Big Bang
Notorious BIG - Ready to Die

There are a ton I left off, mostly DMX albums, Jay albums and Cube all of who had a major impact on what I like, but most of those albums had a ton of skippable. I place a premium on cohesive albums. Jay's Reasonable doubt is the strongest one left off, and depending on the day that may be on here. Brooklyn's Finest to 22 Two's is one of the best stretches of song in rap history.

Really hard to knock it down to ten.

A top ten is really hard. It was actually harder than I thought though.

In no particular order:

1) Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Black Star
2) Nas - Illmatic
3) Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor
4) Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon
5) Kanye West - College Dropout
6) Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
7) Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang
8) Biggie - Ready to Die
9) Dr. Dre - 2001
10) Kendrick Lamar - GKMC

I know its early for GKMC but I already know its something I'll keep coming back to. Another thing with this list is that I tried to keep it one album per artist, I could easily add LR/MBDTF for Ye, SSLP for Em, Black on both sides for Mos Def, IWW/Stillmatic for Nas, etc.

I also really like RD, but Im not a fan of Jay-Z in general.

3. Kanye - College Dropout
4. Bone Thugs - E 1999 Eternal
5. Lupe - The Cool
6. Dr. Dre - Chronic 2001
7. Nas - Stillmatic
8. Ludacris - Word of Mouf
9. Kendrick - GKMC (wanted to place this ALOT higher but I'ma let it marinate & see how I feel over time)
10. Meth & Red - Blackout

Anyone check out GMB yet?

If greatest hits count, I would definitely add Tupac's Greatest Hits. So many dope songs...
Oddly enough, if Greatest Hits count I'd put like 3 Pac albums on there, but none if we can't. I think that's just cheating though.
