Also, I live in Europe and if I can't include US games it would really suck because I import a LOT of games, and many of those games I would consider GOTY level. Might as well drop out of the voting altogether if that's the case, because it feels stupid having to leave out games I've finished and enjoyed thoroughly just because I live in Europe.

of course you can include import games. you're just not supposed to vote for a US game that was released in the US in 2005. so for example if you played pal sotc you can vote for it. but if you bought a US copy of the game and just played it this year it shouldn't count (although who would really care?). and since europe hardly ever gets a game first all 2006 US games should be fine anyway. no matter WHERE you play them.

OK, I just thought those two conditions for voting were phrased in a strange way since they seemed to contradict each other, which made me puzzled. The problem was just I didn't realize the reasons behind them, thus I interpreted them in the wrong way.

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up. Here goes...

So, basically, it needs to be games that came out in *some* reigon this year. If I'm in the US, but didn't get around to playing Dragon Quest 8 until March of this year, I can still vote for it because it came out in Europe this year, right?

Nope, because it came out in the US (your region) in 05.
 
I'm guessing FFXII and Okami would be a bit higher if they were released in Europe this year.
I Expect them to show up on next years list again.

Ugh... there really weren't that many games released this year that I liked. Fair enough, some like Dreamfall, NWN2, and Zelda I haven't had a chance to play yet, but most of my time seemed to go toward older games I hadn't beat yet (plus a lot of WoW).

Oh and I haven't played Okami and Final Fantasy 12 - as they are not available here yet ;).
