I've always read the PS3 at xx weeks is where the GCN was at (xx-y) weeks and didn't think too much of it. Having seen this it really has put it into perspective for me.

Japan has never been the land of the strong second place but I was hoping the PS3 could bring a more balanced market. The PSP has been able to carve itself a decent market share in the end and I thought the PS3 would be able to do a little better than that.

Has anyone got the updated version of this graph?

NOTES:

1. After 2 weeks of no Wii systems for sale, a few turned up in my town. However, I would still call it supply constrained since most stores still don’t have it and the ones that do don’t have many.

2. DS lite is easier to find this week. Seems Nintendo finally supplied enough to meet demand (at least in my town). I would be foolish to predict that the shortages are over, but at least for the time being, if you live in my city and want a DS you can get one.

3. There are plenty of copies of Super Paper Mario. It dropped out of the top 10 this week but if my town is any indication, it was not due to supply issues.

4. FF12: RW is still not supply constrained. It has never been supply constrained. And now that used copies are appearing at most stores I will make the prediction that it never will be supply constrained. However it is still selling at a respectable rate.

5. FFT: LW was available in every store. Now even the porn shop had a copy. There is no supply constraint.

6. Every store that ordered Froza 2 (some stores don’t carry the 360) still has copies.

7. Ouendan is possibly supply constrained. Or the stores just didn’t reorder. But with it’s great first week; if they haven’t reordered already they probably will soon. I’ll keep “tracking” it.

8. The PS3 kiosk, which has been showing PS2 games for the last months, was in the process of getting a new facelift. When I arrived one of the employees was putting posters around it. It seems that the Sony kiosk is destined to be showing Trusty Bell trailers on the near future. The actual 360 kiosk is still set up with Ghost Recon.

9. Tonight at dinner, I am going to ask my girlfriend of two and a half years, to be my wife. Wish me luck.

For Forza, of the stores that had ordered some, had they sold some, or did they only order 2-5?

Hope she accept. 2 and a half year is long enough to know whether she is the right one for you or not.

Be prepared to have your game time allocation drastically decreased once you got married (and even more when you have children). Been there, done that.

Good luck dooderz. Just a tip, you'll completely forget most of any speech if you try and remember one. I just went through the same thing about a month ago. If you do have a speech in your head and you forget, just go with what's in your heart, tell her you love her and ask. I spent about 15 minutes stumbling over my thoughts after my mind went completely blank. Back on topic: I predict next week's thread will show that the number of Gaffers engaged will have increased 50%.

one could marry a gamer:)

young kids are all-consuming, but i certainly know parents whose kids are their excuse to game.

and vinnk - luck is overrated. focus on patience. a good companion is every kind of awesome.

Thanks a lot guys! Yeah I have thought about this a lot and the fact that she loves me even though I am a huge geek is a big plus. Yeah, she is Japanese. And she is beautiful. Far too good for someone like me. I just hope she dosn't realize that until after the ring is on her finger. I'll let eveyone know how it turns out.
