"Sandeé" (Sandra Casanas) passed away at her home in Hollywood Florida on Monday.

It was Aléjandra “Alé” Lorenzo, Laurie Miller and Sandeé that in 1984 formed the original version of the female group Exposé which had some monster dance/freestyle hits including Point of No Return (which was rerecorded with the 2nd Exposé lineup: Ann Curless, Gioia Bruno, Jeanette Jurado) and were the pattern for later freestyle female groups like The Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Seduction and others.


After Sandee (and Ale) parted ways from Expose in the mid-late 80s, she had some huge hits as a solo artist: 'Notice Me' , ' You're the One', "Only Time Will Tell" and 'Love Desire' among others.

RIP. So when was the second Exposé group around? Which group recorded the album Exposure? That was my album back in 87 along with the Cover Girls.

It was the second group that recorded the Exposure album, released around late 1986.

The second lineup was around from 1986 until 1990. In 1990 the lead singer, Gioia, developed a very serious health problem with her throat (I think it was a tumor on her vocal cord) and had to leave to have surgery and start the process of recovery. She lost her voice for awhile...She recovered long ago, is fine today, releasing new songs and performing with Jeanette and Ann as Exposé.

She was around 46-47, her myspace says 46.

Don't know the definitive cause of Sandeé's death right now.

apparently it was declining health and lung collapse according to one youtube comment but obviously that's not a confirmation.


She was much loved by her fans and gave her all. I never got to see her live in person but grew up listening to groups like Exposé and The Cover Girls on FM radio.

The Freestyle community is still in shock over her passing

Wow, she was smoking. Reminds me of "possessed" Sigourney from the Ghostbusters movie.

*sigh* I can't believe all those cute 80's kids are now middle-aged, and we're starting to lose them to health issues. Makes me feel incredibly old.
