I'm going to be controversial.

I think I'm the only person who thought that Jazz Jackrabbit was pretty dire. It was only successful and well-remembered because it released on PC - a platform short on platformers. I think it would have been ignored on Genesis/SNES.

Not ignored, but totally overshadowed (is that a legit term?) by other platformers.. yes.

But hey, I hate Earthworm Jim too, so..

I like almost everything from 1994. Not only videogames, but even albums and movies. Just look at Downward Spiral or Pulp Fiction. Everytime I like something I know it's probably from 1994.
But unfortunately everything is balanced: in 1994 Berlusconi conquered my country. Too bad.

1998/2004/2007 need nods too. Those were great highlights in my life with such strong titles.

1995 would like a word with you

Chrono Trigger
Earthbound (in US)
Donkey Kong Country 2
Yoshi's Island
Ogre Battle
Killer Instinct
Mortal Kombat 3
Breath of Fire 2
Secret of Evermore
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4
Secret of the Stars
NBA Jam: TE
Kirby's Avalanche and Kirby's Dream Course
Mega Man 7 and X2
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Castlevania: Dracula X

And all that just on SNES, without even getting into the Genesis, Gameboy, and PC releases that year.

In general though, the mid-90s had some downright amazing years.

Wait so is NeoGAF known for being a hivemind or is it known for people having opposite opinions? Help me, I get confused about this one.

Normally it is that somebody really loves something and a other reaction absolutely hates that what is loved. It does not work extremely well in this case.

Neat there's a wiki for games in 1994.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_in_video_gaming

hahaha

I loved Point Blank. Where's my Wii collection? :C

Nintendo published Wario's Woods, their final NES game.

In 1994:

Sega:
introduces the North American cable TV Sega Channel in cooperation with Time Warner (AOL Time Warner); the subscription service provides Sega Genesis games via cable box to customers
releases the Sega 32X add-on for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in Europe, North America and Japan
releases the Sega Nomad handheld console in North America, a portable Sega Genesis.
releases the Sega Saturn home console in Japan

No wonder they went 3rd party

The whole 90s were the best days for gaming.

And the Arcades (where it all started for me) was at its best over here in The Netherlands.

The days of Street Fighter II and the SNES. Nuff said.

Every year is a great year for gaming. There are always great games to play, and the old games aren't going anywhere. There's never been a year where it's been possible to have enough time to play every great game released.
