Its official! The music industries's worst kept secret has now been confirmed by VMAs planner Jesse Ignjatovic.

Cant wait :D

If you happen to own a computer, then chances are you've come across online rumblings regarding the bald-no-more Britney Spears: The pop star will make her comeback at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.

Well, it's no rumor, folks.

MTV News can now confirm what may well be one of the worst-kept VMA secrets of all time: On Sunday night, Spears will grace the VMA stage, nestled within the Palms Casino Resorts' Pearl Concert Theater, to perform "Gimme More," the first single from her forthcoming fifth album, which is slated for a November 13 release (see "Britney Spears' Greatest VMA Hits: Barely There Costumes, Giant Snakes And A Scandalous Lip-Lock"). The yet-untitled effort will be her first studio LP in four years, following 2003's In the Zone.

Perhaps in homage to the glittery magic of Las Vegas, Spears consulted with illusionist Criss Angel, star of A&E's "Mindfreak," on "some of the moments of the performance," said Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of this year's VMAs. Spears has been spotted around Sin City in recent weeks with Angel at her side, and there is unsubstantiated speculation that the two are romantically involved.

Ignjatovic said it was important to secure Spears for the big show's opening number.

"I guess, looking back, we've had a great history with her," he said. "Some of the biggest TV performances [of her career] have been at the VMAs. And fortunately, [when we approached her about performing], she was into it and excited to do it. I wanted her to come on and make a statement right from the very beginning of the show. And she'll kill it. I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, and she's the one to do that. She'll captivate everyone, and set the tone for the rest of the night. There's no one better."

As for what we can expect from Ms. Spears, Ignjatovic wouldn't give up the goods, but promised fans would be thrilled.

"You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney — that will all be there," he said. "What I've seen of it is great. She'll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That's exactly what we all want. Fans that are familiar with her performance on previous VMAs will not be disappointed."

Timbaland's brother or friend or something produced Britney Spear's new single and Timbaland is in charge of the VMAs now. therefore = death.

I dunno what it is. I had some respect for her and by respect I mean "respect" but after her running around naked, looking like she totally didn't care about a thing in the world, being used by Federline when she is the one who should have been in control..I dunno.

It's kind of sad to be honest, feel bad for her. Not sure if she can recover.

Should make for a decent show I guess.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I knew she was a hack when I watched 2.5 minutes of her Showtime special back in 2003 or whenever that was. Horrible.

She could only have gotten worse. For that reason I will be tuning in.

you´ll have to boo really really loud. Britney´s personal life might be a mess but she has never failed at a performance. she´s an entertainer and she´s really good at it.

So, the VMA ratings have been so poor that they have to leak their secrets now? Sad.

I think I read that they are only showing it one time only .. no more repeats. Not that it matters .. anything that is worth watching will be on Youtube the next day.

It really is hard to synchronize your lips to music. She has an amazing talent and will be remembered long after Pavarotti.

I will watch to see if 3 things happen:

1. Her lip sync audio fucks up
2. Her weave/wig falls off
3. Her ass looks like cottage cheese and makes people in the audience throw up.

the first step to make them shut up is getting back to work. go out there and take the bullets, and make people talk about her career/music instead of her life. that´s what she´s doing right now and what people will do after the VMAs.

if you notice, it´s been like two weeks since her last "drama". all she´s been doing recently is rehearsing for the show, going to tan salons and buying food. and it should be that way all the time. so, it´s working imo.

but it´s not like im gonna debate with you omg ;)

I generally don't wish harm on anyone but I wish Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan, would all get drunk, go a road trip together and drive their Escalade off a cliff. I'm so sick of hearing about these tramps on every channel, be it entertainment or news.

Yeah. People will cheer and clap after(lightly) but it won't be like that.

Most people though see it as: "She went out and totally ruined herself, got married overnight, didn't back out, got pregnant, put on a stupid show that nobody cared about" type of situation.

It's going to be hard for her to gain back any respect. Once you abuse yourself it's impossible to expect people to see you as the person you were before.

Nobody wants to hear about her and those "other" ones anymore, the first several times: "Okay, they are crying out for help" but then it just went downhill.

You gotta be kidding. They still show like the 2005 VMAs or something on MHD five times a day in between bouts of the NY volunteer concert and Alicia Keys Unplugged. Oh, and the Goo Goo Dolls in the mountains.

I can't tell if this thread was made as a joke or for real.
The new song is catchy, but why would anyone be excited to watch that show anymore never mind watch her try to be 17 again and lipsing a song. Thats not a performance.
