I'm still trying to figure out why Sting would bother porting Riviera to the PSP. It's supposed to have 50 new illustrations and voice acting! :D

To make this worthwhile it would have to have a ridiculous amount of new content.

I'll buy it again if they release it here.

Let me carry 20 items instead of 15, ****ers.

Man, the music is gonna be awesome awesome awesome.

Will this have the same sound track as the original? If so I might have to buy the sound track. Did a sound track for the original ever come out? Damn good music.

WTF. That looks almost exactly the same.

Hell, unless the animation has been tripled... WTF?

Even the GBA game had a surprising amount of voice, actually.

Looks like the sprites got upscaled and tossed through a super eagle filter. Ew. I bet it'll use the arranged ost for its score.

I'm actually very interested in this, if it makes it over here. I passed on the GBA version because I was already playing a lot of games at the time, but it looked good to me. I don't really care if it isn't upgraded; it's 2D, widescreen goodness on PSP's wonderful screen.

Man, I haven't played the GBA one that I own yet either. Oh well, it seems unlikely it'll come out here, and even if it does it probably won't have enough new goodies to bother.

I doubt Atlus USA will bring it over, they've been blocked by SCEA in bringing 2 PSX/Saturn ports already, i don't think they'll be localizing any PSP games, but we'll see.
More chances with NIS or Agetec bringing it over here.

Oh no, you didnt say Agetec, you didnt say Agetec. After the blashpemy that Wild Arms alter Code F localization was thanks to agetec, i dont want them doing any localization of an rpg game anymore.

I would imagine that having full speech in it would qualify it as having 20% new content (or whatever the requirement is).

That said, Atlus would be the likely candidate (since they already have a translation), but I doubt they would want to spend the cash on doing a full English voice version even if they seemed to be interested in doing PSP games (which they don't).

What would be cool is if the Japanese developer of this just got the English translation from Atlus, and included that as an option (along with the Japanese voice). Won't happen, but would be nice, as it would be minimal work, but could sell a few hundred extra copies to people who import games.

Did you guys actually like Riviera on GBA? I thought it was pretty horrible. :(

It was alright. I like the exploration aspect of the game, felt like a point and click adventure game sorta

Yeah, the sprites kinda look like they've been filtered using those ugly techniques that many SNES emus come with, and that I usually disable for great justice!

I loved Riviera, but unless I see new content, and not just new illustrations or music, I can't see a reason to buy this when the GBA Port is nice enough already

The world needs more of your kind.

Also, if they really did that, then like, ouch.. It's just like every other lazy 2D port on PSP. If you don't want to redraw all graphics (which you naturally don't) then expand the viewing area instead.

Mad Super Eagle filtering on the sprites...

Looks like the same thing though. Just maybe just more illustrations, revamped music score, more voice acting and maybe some more extras.

If they added like another story arch like playing that other angel dude, then it might be worth something.

I'M GLAD THEY GOT RID OF ALL OF THAT LITTLE GIRL ANIME CRAP IN THE PSP VERSION.

Yeah, if we're lucky we'll get some CG cutscenes lol

And you thought VPL was bad.

It's amazing because if this was on the DS people would be going "WOWOW DS FTW 2D 4lyfe". Now a GBA-looking game is on the PSP and people are complaining.

man. i know that sony will let publishers release absolutely anything in japan -- see also "simple 2000" -- but this needs to be blocked. for great justice. if pedophiles want a reason to buy a psp, they can buy schoolgirl porn umds like everyone else.

No, if it's was on the DS people would be saying "Hey, wait a second, this is the exactly same game we already played for the GBA." :lol

It's amazing because you've lost all sense of reason and logic?

Riviera is not a GBA-looking game, it IS a GBA game. And before that, it was a Wonder Swan Color game. The game is being ported with its GBA graphics 100% intact. Why SHOULDN'T anyone complain about that?

This isn't a new game. If Sting announced a new game on the DS with the graphical quality of Riviera, or even better (as Riviera was ****ing gorgeous) -- as most 2D games on the DS or PSP have seen a big jump in quality in numerous respects over the GBA -- then yeah, I would say that's great. But doing a barely upgraded direct port (same graphics) from the GBA to the PSP, and you think people should praise tha?

You seriously need to get out of your anti-2D crusade; it's just tiresome.

Come on, let's not turn this into a stupid fanboy battle. What the fvck is the point? No one can and should defend this, it's a sad retarded attempt to make a tiny profit by selling Riviera for the THIRD (turd?) time! If this was on the DS it would be even SADDER honestly, so maybe they're trying to use the PSP as an excuse to claim "FULL VOICE" but really, fvck you Sting, go make a NEW game please.

Seriously now that I see it there's no justifying this crap. If they tried to do something nice for it, but this is just lame.

Honestly, I blame Bandai more than I do Sting -- Riviera: Full Voice Edition being announced, like, a month after Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition screams to me that this was not Sting's idea, and they're just going along because they're a tiny developer that relies upon this publisher's support.

I really, really would prefer Sting to be making a new game, but yeah, this is more Bandai's fault than anything. Wait a month and I'll bet there'll be a third Full Voice Edition port announced for the PSP.

That's only one of the options for the next announcement. They're actually waiting on XS Ep3's sales in the US. If it's a hit, they announce Xenosaga I+II: Full Voice Edition immediately. :D

Edit: OMG HERE COME THE DIRECT FEED REAL RESOLUTION PICS! >_<
