This is Towa from Tokyo Xanadu(cousin and homeroom teacher of the main character)

and this is Towa from Trails of Cold Steel

What do you think? Is Tokyo Xanadu a sort of sequel? Did Towa fall into some portal ending in Tokyo Xanadu's world? Or maybe Tokyo Xanadu is set in a sort of alternate universe? Will we see other Trails of Cold Steel characters?

Damn the title should have been "Maybe Tokyo Xanadu and Trails of Cold Steel are connected somehow..."

Do we know the context of the screen from Tokyo Xanadu? It doesn't look like a random NPC conversation (unless all of them switch to a dramatic camera angle with portraits for each and every character), so it's possible she's got a story role. That's a dead ringer for the ToCS character, not simply an expy or cameo.

It's arguably their defining trait (dueling with how much detail Falcom puts into dialogues and world-building). The question now is, how close will Tokyo Xanadu be to a Kiseki/Trails game in both style and design? Nayuta no Kiseki/Trails of Nayuta is maybe a teensy bit related to the franchise canonically, but otherwise is more a blend of Ys-like action/exploration and wordy storytelling.

I thought each Falcom franchise was separate, or are some franchises apart of the same universe?

If she was just an useless cameo then why making her the main character's cousin? Imo her role is not that small.

Why would being the protags cousin imply that she's totally important? Towa has a doting teacher-type personality, so Falcom is probably just having some fun making her an actual teacher in Tokyo Xanadu.

A cameo is someone that appears for a scene or two, imo that's not the case.

She could have been the teacher and stop, instead developers decided to make her mc's cousin, developers decided that she has to have some personal involvement with the main character, so imo even if she won't have an active role she will be an important or often present npc, not just a cameo.

Is she like super cool or something and that's why this happened? Just yes/no.

Although this goes to show how canon is percieved more as a quantity and less like a quality by too many, even in the resoundingly comprehensive canonality of Trails.
