So I've been in Frankfurt for two weeks now and am slowly getting settled. I'm enjoying the area so far but there's a lot to discover!

So, I wanted to see if any Gaffers were living in the area. Don't really know anybody around here yet and was curious if anyone would be up for an area meetup? Would love to talk with folks from around these parts and get to know the area a bit better. Any interest?

I'm also interested in locating the best place to see films in English (OV) around here. Any recommendations?

Did you move there? And where are you originally from?

My brother moved to Dortmund a few months ago and got to know a lot of people via a Facebook group for "newcomers". There is also a pretty large one for Frankfurt, but German-speaking. I'd suggest to join that group, it's probably a good way to connect:

I'm from the US originally but have been in France for the last few years. I don't speak any German yet, unfortunately. I do hope to start studying some, though.

You don't really need it, not saying your should it is always good to learn another language but English is very wide spread here.

That's good to know. I've already put years into French (where we lived no English was ever spoken) and Japanese but I should still put a bit of time in. Definitely seems like a very international place thus far.

It is not as hard as French, if that helps. Learning some basic German to kick off conversations would be a good idea I think, you can still continue in English afterwards as we are familiar with the language.
