In a survey conducted by Qualtrics, an online survey software provider for businesses and academics, they found out that bearded men were likely to value traditional roles more than men who tend to shave their facial hair.

The survey involved 500 men from India and the United States, they showed men with nine various facial hairstyles varying from no beard to someone with the thickest beard. The respondents were asked to pick one that best resembled their own facial hair.

In the second part of the survey, they were asked to agree or disagree with a number of statements about governing gender roles.

The result stated that 86 percent of Indian men and 65 percent of American men had facial hair. Apparently, men with facial hair from both countries agreed more with hostile sexist statements than men without facial hair.

"Our research suggests that there is a link between beards and gender role beliefs, but it's not apparent what causes this association. It's possible that men with more negative attitudes towards women are more likely to choose to wear facial hair because it accentuates their apparent masculinity and dominance," the researchers said.

Sorry beard-gaf, but it gets worse...

In another survey of 2,000 people by Eva and Censuswide, they found out that men who have facial hair are more likely to cheat on their partner, steal or get into fights. Specifically, they found 47 percent of men with beard had cheated on their partner, compared to 20 percent clean-shaven men.

Around 45 percent of men with facial hair get into fights compared to 29 percent of men without beard. Lastly, 40 percent of men with facial hair claimed that they have stolen something compared to just 17 percent of non-bearded men.

No... my hopes.... my dreams.....
beards are still more attractive than non-beards unless they're shit or don't have a moustache component too.

I wonder if beard style played any role. Short trimmed beard, wirey wannabe beard, full beard, neckbeard.

First one is because women just throw themselves at us. Some men of this variety are just vulnerable to the wiles of the feminine mystique.

Stolen another guy's girlfriend.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh

Many men cycle through phases of having facial hair and going clean shaven? Have they tested if this has any affect on attitudes?

For real though, I have facial hair now and I don't feel a changed man!

I have beard and I'm not like this.

Im the nicest guy in the word.
#notallbeardedmen

I have a beard because I have super pale skin and a doughy face. I look terrible without a beard and glasses. Not every guy with facial hair has sexist leanings, but almost every guy I've ever met who is a sexist piece of shit does have terrible facial hair.

Where do wizened old East Asian beards factor into this?

Well I guess I wouldn't be surprised if old Asian dudes were sexist. Seems legit.

Seems like the opposite in my experience but that's anecdotal. I have a beard, my hippie pseudo-Buddhist former roommate has a beard, most of the more left wing guys I know have facial hair to some extent. Meanwhile the most right-leaning guys I know, who are all from work since I don't associate with Republicans by choice usually, are all clean shaven.

Love that site and think of it every time someone brings up a similar spurious correlation.

That site routinely breaks my politically advocating but living in a bubble group of friends. I love it. If people understood that site, 90% of "controversial" internet articles would disappear.
